I just updated my unrooted Note 3 to Lollipop 5.0 and I noticed some strange behaviour that I didn't experience with KitKat. When I play music through any sort of bluetooth device, the display won't timeout. It will just stay on as long as the music is playing. If I pause the music, the screen will eventually timeout to whatever it's set at (I set it at 15 seconds just for testing purposes). This doesn't happen when using ordinary headphones plugged into the phone. This also doesn't happen if just playing the music through the speakers. The issue happens on all music apps.
I also have another problem that might be related. When I have a bluetooth device connected, I can't raise the volume past 10. The volume warning dialog box would pop up really quick, then go away.
I was just wondering if anyone else can do a test and see if they experience the same problem.
*UPDATE*
I eventually did a factory reset and it fixed all the issues I mentioned above.
*UPDATE 2*
Found out it was actually the app called "Don't Pause Pro!" that was causing the issues.

Hey everyone, just upgraded to the atrix, loving the phone so far but I've recently come across an issue and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem (or can explain why it occurs):
when listening to audio I turn off the screen and about 2-5 minutes in (sometimes more, sometimes less) the audio just stops. The headset doesn't disconnect, the music just cuts out and when I bring up the music player and hit play it just starts it over from the beginning. However if I leave the screen on the entire time I'm playing audio, it never cuts out
I use a motorola S305 bluetooth headset, the files are .mp3 format and I've tried playing them from SDcard and internal phone storage..they played perfectly fine on my HTC HD2 with the same headset so it's not the files themselves or the headset. Anyone else have this issue?
Interesting. I noticed the same thing last night. Doesn't always do that, but I thought it was weird when it did. I'm using the same s305 headset.
I was just about to post this! it's so annoying. It will play fine forever until i turn the screen on to do something, then it turns off the audio like 3 minutes into the song. what's worse, it's not pausing it, it's stopping it. if you check the music player, the position on the song will be reset. very annoying for audio books!
I just tested it playing thru the phone speaker and it shuts off in about 3 minutes as well, doesn't seem to be related to bluetooth at all.
Is the player added to your ignore list in any task manager/killer?
Personally, i've tried 3 players, the stock music player,Mixzing and Poweramp. all three do exactly the same thing. No task killers installed, with the built in task manager, it's not added to the kill list. I'm rooted btw.
I am having a similar problem to this and I was just about to post, when streaming via bluetooth to my car stereo using Pandora, my phone will completely freeze and after maybe 1 min of freeze will do a complete reboot. I even restored phone and it still does it.
Two issues here. First is the warning about turning the volume up to loud. How can we remove this warning?
I saw someone mention going into the default music player and turning on smart volume. Problem is when I do this, all my songs start out at a real low volume. To get the sound back up, I either have to turn it up more than it was, or skip back to last song, then skip forward and it starts playing at a louder volume.
Second issue is I have noticed with Google Music on the S4 ( did not experience this with my S3) the volume at random times will adjust by itself. A song will go to a lower volume then a few seconds later come back. I see this sometimes, but not all the time.

Believe it or not, I actually experienced both of this issues myself on my S 4.
1.) I have not found a way to remove that warning natively. There are a few 'ad blocker' apk's you can install that let you adjust rules for the apk and you can set it to ignore those types of notifications on your device. Successfully doing this should fix your issue.
2.) I had this auto readjusting volume issue and mine did it often. I tried everything from reinstalling GMusic, redownloading some of my music, playing with every setting possible and nothing fixed it. I read somewhere to disable the app's service, clean the phone cache and any information for GMusic, restart the device then re-enable the GMusic service, force stop it and reopen the app.
Seems, kind of weird to me - but I haven't had the volume readjust at all.
You can force stop, enable and disable apps by going to System Settings > More > Application Manager
Is it just me or anyone running Spotify notice that there seem to be some bugs recently...
I noticed that the Spotify notifications disappear every once and awhile while music is playing. I'm wondering if this is something that was introduced into 6.0 or what. Anyone have any ideas? I can open spotify check back an hour later and it's still playing but I have to switch back to the app and the notification comes back. This is pretty frustrating when trying to stop the music from running. It can also happen after 20 minutes it seems...
Another issue is that I receive a phone call but the music starts playing in earpiece or bluetooth while the phone is occurring. Combine this with issue 1 and you have a difficult situation here...
I have had the notification disappear once or twice, but more commonly I am using the phone and swipe Spotify out of my recents (I do it A LOT on accident because I my recent apps clean) and it will continue to play. I have to then open Spotify and wait for it to show what is playing at the bottom, then swipe it out again and it stops.
Last night was the first time I've had it mess up with a phone call. I was in my car and it was dark and raining, I was driving downtown and not really wanting to talk on the phone anyway, but I hit answer on the handsfree in my car. The music started playing through the phone audio in my car. My car only has bluetooth for phone calls so I use a bluetooth A2DP dongle to feed the 3.5mm line in port on the stereo. The music was clearly playing over the phone because it was of much poorer quality than the A2DP device. I only let it play for a second or two before I hung up on the person because it was probably BLASTING on their end.
I don't get a ton of phone calls, let alone when music is playing, but that's the first time I've had that particular issue.
I also get this strange thing where sometimes when playing bluetooth and disconnect it will start playing out of my stereo which can be embarrassing if you're at work! All the issues seem random so hopefully they go away or get patched.
Ditto, I am having a ton of issues with Spotify on my N6P. Music just stops playing, I have to open the app, hit pause and then hit resume for it to start playing sound again.
I am also having the same issue with music playback suddenly stopping. I have to pause it and hit play again. But it then stops playing again every 30 seconds. I am using an aux cord in my car but frankly I am quite annoyed.
I’m having the issue with the lock screen widget/notification disappearing sometimes, it's especially annoying when in my car and I want to skip/repeat a track and the widget disappears. My guess it's a marshmallow issue and should be fixed with an update to the app.
similar issues for me here now. guess we just need to wait for an app update.

Doze won't activate if your phone is in your pocket. It only triggers when the device is sitting completely still for some time. I have had Spotify repeatedly pause itself when my battery was very low (<10%) before, though. I would press play and as soon as the screen shut off, it would pause again. I didn't turn off battery optimization for Spotify explicitly yet, but mine doesn't seem to be acting up as much as it was before.
It just occasionally removes the ongoing notification but launching and exiting the app again restores it every time.
Issue with all music playback on any app

I have the 6p and now music will randomly stop playing with any music app if connected via 3.5mm.
Same issue here with music still on phone calls.
Use Pioneer BT head unit in the car and stream Music and Calls over it. Use Spotify premium with all music offline.
I have posted on the Spotify forums but so far have not seen any replies that will fix the issue.
One person recommended uninstalling and reinstalling the application, however I don't really want to have to download 6GB of music again...
I am also experiencing these issues. Waiting on updates to Marshmallow and/or Spotify to fix them... It is quite frustrating though.
i've now experience some similar issues. just waiting on an update like everyone else.
I've had the disappearing notification, as well as audio dropouts while listening via wired headset and Bluetooth (though that one might be caused by Viper4Android - not sure)
My Spotify + Nexus 6P issue is when I'm listening to music and then I press the app drawer. I momentarily lose sounds for a very short period of time, not even a second, split second maybe. Though it is intermittent, it kinda bugs me out.
Hey guys
I just registered because I experienced some problems with my recently bought nexus 6p. I really like this phone but as soon as I start listening to music using headphones the bugs are invading my phone since I didn't find anything on Google I start this thread.
But let's get to my problem:
I plug in my headphones and start playing music (using blackplayer and Google music). When the screen is turned on the volume turns down itself (I can see the volume bar going down to zero like I'm pressing the button). Also sometimes the powerbutton stops working and I have to restart my phone long pressing the power button.
But also when the screen is turned out I experience some problems. One of the most annoying ones is that music stops and starts randomly (but only when headphones are plugged in!!!). The other bug is music stopping, display turns on and some female voice tells me "Bitte warten! (please wait)" and the screen is gray saying "initializing".
Has someone experienced similar problems? What could help? If you guys need any more information just tell me
I have none of these problems. Have you tried a different set of headphones?
Change your headphones or ensure that they're set up properly. I'm guessing they're wired.
I'm also running into this same issue. I have the latest updates on my phone. This happens about 25 minutes in to listening to media. I've heard that disabling "OK Google detection" fixes it. This hasn't worked for me.
Sounds like wired headphones with a faulty connection to the phones, or faulty buttons on the headphones. I have seen similar behavior with just a wired connection to an AUX Input. The connection on the wire was faulty and due to changing resistance, it looked to the phone like headphone buttons were being pressed. Could also be a fault at the headphone jack on the phone, but it was not in my case. Definitely try other headphones to help narrow down the issue.

I seem to be having issues with Google Play Music where if i pause it, within 10 seconds or so i'll see the app has been closed (icon in taskbar goes away). I also think this issue may be related to the issue with android auto where the music just randomly stops playing despite the screen showing it's still "playing". I have to press the pause button, turns into a play button, and press the play button to get the music to start again. Does anyone have any issues like this?
That may be an app issue. Some players automatically close after being inactive. Granted, that time should be longer that 10 seconds.
I think it might be some aggressive memory thing on OnePlus part. They had that before.
Seems my issue with android auto was fixed with 4.5.10 when they fixed the scrolling issue in play music. Happy i can use android auto again.
