Nexus player screen cycling issue - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have 2 nexus player that I had not touch for a few months. They both had been updated to Oreo a while back. I'm experiencing an issue while on the home screen it keeps cycling and refreshing. Once in a while I can seem to get it to stop if I take the battery out of the remote. This normally happens after I access an app (kodi) and then go back to the home screen. These was working fine a few months back and both player is experiencing the same symptom.

Not sure what the cause is but did a factory reset and it seems to have fixed the problem. Odd that it was occurring to 2 separate unit.

TF101 screen does not respond to touch - Freezes

Hi All,
Very strange issues with my TF101 for last couple or 3 weeks (I think). The screen does not register a touch event, some times it does and others not. Strangest thing is, everything else seems to work, clock, wifi, etc, I can power it down and start again. Sometime it rotates the screen too and other times even screen rotation doesn't happen. If I move around the tablet, shake it etc, then sometime it seems to work for few clicks and then same unresponsive screen.
I have wiped all data, factory reset couple of times but no luck.
kernel:2.6.39.4
build:IML74k.US_epad-9.2.1.27-20120615
Touch Panel Ver:MXT-1.1 build-1
Android:4.0.3
Can some one please advise?
I'm having the same problem.

Seems like my issue is resolved by
Hi,
It seems like my issue is resolved by installing a custom ROM, what I did after all my frustration is went to
http://get.cm/?device=tf101&type=stable
Downloaded the stable version of Cyanogen Mod 9, copied it to my TF101 while its connected to my pc, you can follow instruction here
http://www.androidauthority.com/cyanogenmod-9-cm9-for-wifi-asus-eee-pad-transformer-57846/
And now I have it running only for 30 mins or so but it seems like no freezing...
HTH
Not quite, it seems like after several hours of usage, though it is working immensely better then before, that painful freeze has come back of sorts, it does freeze now, very few times as compare to prior to installing cyanogen mod 9
Same here. I was tired of running Jelly Bean so I decided to give stable CM9 a spin so I flashed it. The screen is so unresponsive it's not even funny. I think I will file a bug at CM issue tracker if that's not only me experiencing that. I have also noticed that scrolling screens using a live wallpaper is not smooth, however this is an entirely different issue.

My N10 Keeps freezing and resetting

It has happened several times caused by various apps such as chrome, play store, dolphin after downloading something. Screen freezes and system eventually resets on it's own. Is anyone else having this problem?
Build: JOP40C
Same here, restarted and frozen 3-4 times in couple of hours.
I was browsing, using apps, dowloading in background, loads of syncing etc - maybe taxing the system causes it? (But i though it should handle it a bit better...)
I had a couple of reboots but no freeze before the firmware update.
After the update it hasn't rebooted but it froze once

I've had exactly what you are saying. I had it three times and haven't had it since. Will update if problem persists.

My keeps loosing Wi-Fi and completely shut down every time I turn it off and didn't turn back on in 5 seconds. Making things worse I have to wait several minutes until it allows me to turn it on by pressing power for a 5 seconds. In those few minutes it does not react on power button at all.
Factory reset did not help. Sadly it looks like I have no options other than return it back.
+1 reboots and freezing. Don't really want to return it since its finally rooted and cust recovery. Anyone think waiting for cust Roms will help?

No need to return the tablet for software issues.... Updates will come quick. That's a Nexus!!!

Mine had been randomly restarting after installing some of my apps. I finally narrowed it down to HD Widgets and haven't had a reboot since uninstalling it.
I am not using HD Widgets and I get restarts periodically. What is the most efficient way to submit a bug report to google.

Just got an RMA for mine for the same issues u guys are experiencing. Wifi disconnecting and chrome freezing and rebooting. Looks like it may not be a hardware issue. Wonder if I should just keep it and wait for an update.
Edit - It was fine before the software update. Probably should ignore it once I get my replacement unit
I am also seeing the reboots happening every 3 to 4 hours like clockwork. I didn't have the device for more than a few minutes before the first update was pushed to it, so I can't say whether or not that was related. I do have HD Widgets installed, so I will pull it off and see if that helps slow the reboots down.
I'm using BootLog Uptime to keep track of the number and frequency of reboots. If this pattern holds, my money is on some kind of memory leak... just thinking from our own development experiences. Given how much higher the resolution is on the N10, I wouldn't count out some graphics heavy apps blowing through their heap much, much faster than on any previous Android device. We'll have to wait and see.
Just called Google and asked for replacement. I hope they aired new updates at the time my replacement arrived.
BTW, I had to initiated factory reset five or six times until it finally clears all data. Never saw Google product so buggy before.
That's a real bummer. Mine doesn't reset or display any of those problems. I have a tiny bit of light bleed in one corner at full brightness and the screen seems to have gotten a little more yellow over time... maybe just the glue drying. If any of you are brave and don't want to return right away, unlock the bootloader and reflash the stock image from google and see if that fixes things. It can help if there was some sort of corruption when you updated.
You may want to wait on that RMA. I had the same trouble with HD widgets installed.
No trouble at all since uninstalling...

I've never even touched hd widgets and have had two lock ups since I got it on Friday. Both occurred when task switching back to chrome and it was loading a previously viewed web page. Both times I was able to tap the power button to shut off the screen but couldn't wake it up. It eventually reset itself. It boots in like 5 seconds so it's not too terrible to wait for a software update, but I wonder what is causing it?
I think Chrome has some major bugs to be squashed when running on this device....mine has only crashed when browsing. That said, after uninstalling HD widgets, no crashes since...

I'd like to update my results. From last night, just like djflan, I removed HD Widgets and so far, 7 hours later, the crashes are gone. So I have my fingers crossed that I've found my culprit.
Also, I installed the HoloWeb browser and I have found it to be quite a bit quicker and more stable than Chrome. For those of you have issues with Chrome it is worth a few moments to track this app down (here on XDA) and give it a try.
Some of you may not have remembered or gone through the Android 3.x transition, but these kinds of issues were very prevalent during that update as well. Many developers simply don't or can't test on a wide enough range of devices and OS combinations to catch all the issues, or they rely heavily on assumptions or code that "always worked fine" in the past. I think we're seeing the same sorts of behaviors again with 4.2, so it will take a couple of months for it all to shake out.
For now I think I have a stable configuration on the Nexus 10 and I'm sticking with the device. No RMAs will solve issues that are software related in my case.
Removed hd widgets, no crashes yet.
I get the same random reboots and I've never used the fancy widget app. it has happened 3 times already. One I was browsing, another time deleting a widget and the last one when I tried to change the wallpaper. Everytime I had to hold the power button 5-6 seconds until it reboot

I spoke to soon earlier... I actually had 2 restarts today. Once while chrome attempted to open a link from tapatalk and another while trying to load one of the free magazines in the play app.
I don't have hd widgets installed either

Anyone has idea will it be software or hardware issues?
Screen on can happen due to software request (for example alarm, phone call etc.) or above mentioned buttons and therefore it could be hardware (some type of short creating signal similar to the button press), so it's hard to say. You could try safe boot, factory reset and killing some apps for software related problem and dial *#0*# to test hardware, but I'm not sure if there is a particular test for those 2 buttons. There are also programs that can tell you what wakes the phone up, but since it's brand new phone you probably want to take it to the service at some point, it is not normal from what you describe.

Home button unresponsive, lock screen comes on by itself.

Update: So today at work it decided to behave seemingly out of the blue.
Heya,
So I have a problem with my Note 4 that I just cannot figure out this time around. I found that the lock screen was turning itself on even when left alone on a table and on top of that the home button is not working. After I installed a security update I had put off installing the home button worked again for about 10 minutes or so. I figured it was a software problem so opted to factory reset the device. No problem getting into the recovery menu by holding power and volume up.
Once that was done though the problem persisted. I'm inclined to think it's hardware but I figured before I throw down money on parts I'd get a second opinion just in case I'm missing something.
It's a N910-P running 6.0.1 and April's security update. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
My device is doing exactly the same thing all of a sudden... Seeing a few other threads with similar issues... I'm guessing a Google Play Services update, as the play store icon changed just about when it happened...

Screen Freezes During Gaming

Hi all,
I've gotten this weird issue where my touch screen would freeze momentarily and randomly whenever I play some games (i.e. Scribblenauts Unlimited, NFS No Limits, GTASA, and Dead Trigger 2). While unlocking and waking up the phone would fix this issue immediately, I find these freezes to be extremely annoying. Interestingly, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp seems to be free from this issue. In addition, I've never experienced it outside of games.
Initially, I did suspect heat to be behind it, but then I found out that those freezes also happen whenever I just boot up those games (and therefore the phone is yet to heat up). Anyone has any idea on what's going on here? I really hope it's not some kind of funky HW defect.
OK, here's an update: I'm quite positive that this is a software issue. Just had the freeze again but I could access notification shade. The shade worked and I tried to open up setting menu, and it worked. Now, the touchscreen worked flawlessly in setting and the subsequent home menu... and when I went back to the game, it froze again.
And I think this one's also relevant: a user over at reddit said that their screen would also freeze whenever they touch the phone's back while playing. Well, I happen to not touch the PH-1's back whenever I'm playing Pocket Camp thanks to its portrait orientation...
