Hello everyone,
I have subscribed to NFL Game Pass Europe in order to watch NFL games live. Previously, I have had no problem sideloading the NFL Game Pass Europe app to the Shield and using it. On July 5th a required update to version 1.3.2 was released which appears to add leanback support to the app (yeah!) but also appears to have broken the app on the Shield completely (boo!). Currently the application opens (in landscape now vs. portrait as with previous versions) and the loading progress bar on the bottom fills left to right then the app immediately closes.
Can anyone else confirm the behavior and/or make modifications to get this working once again?
I am haveing the same problem as of 26/07/2018
Hi I can confirm that I am haveing the extract same problem as yourself N.F.L game Pass Europe was working fine yesterday up until last night then though
I will see what is happening round the league then
I discovered the problem been trying to sort the
problem for a large chunk of the afternoon as
thought the problem was on my side of the things.
It was only when I came across your post that
I realised this was not the case.
Working fine when I cast from My Samsung S J mobile
to the Nevida Video Shield but nog really the point should not need to do this.
Hopefully the problem will be fixed buy tomorrow afternoon.
Any advice ?
It looks like there was an update posted yesterday but is anyone able to post the apk. I'm in the US but I sign up for international as there are no blackouts on any games.
any news with this apk? have the same problem.
Solutions
PM me for details..
There's an official app for Amazon Fire TV. Since the Fire TV device are basically Android-based, shouldn't it be possible to side load that app onto an Android TV as well?

Just wanted to let anyone know that if you have a USB keyboard plugged in, you can press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D to bring up the debug info which shows the buffering and playing bitrate, and your last measured download speed along with a plethora of other info (while playing a Netflix video).
very cool

thanks i love detailed info ,
Thanks!
Since Netflix on the Fire TV doesn't support other countries than the US (even with unblock us), this might give me more info regarding why, will have to borrow a USB keyboard now.
adb logcat only gave me cert-errors while trying to play UK netflix or alike, looks like Amazon locked it down a bit more

I got netflix working with "unlocator". I live in the EU and had to set the DNS in my router. That made it work. I downloaded latest netflix from the store and sideloaded that app, but it's made for touch controls. Atleast the old netflix is working.

What exactly works w/ unlocator? US netflix works for me as well using unblock us, problem is in the local UK/NL versions, they don't work with the stock Netflix app. The side loaded version indeed does work, see my post in the Q&A section. ( to get around touch controls limitations, first start on your phone/tablet, then on the sideloaded netflix)
Still kinda stuck on local (NL/UK) Netflix w/ stock app, or are you saying this works with unlocator ?
Living in Brazil and I'm using Netflix without any modifications at all. Just had to move my amazon app account to US so I could download the Netflix app.

Yeah, Fire TV Netflix supports all Americas countries (US,CA,BR,AR,CO etc), but no European ones, even with unblock us and alike. Gives Java certificate chain errors. Too bad for now.
European Netflix supported after latest firmware update...
Is anyone else having issues with HBO Go?
I have installed the app. I can log in via Cox with no trouble. Everything looks to be fine until I try to play something. Then it will show the HBO Go screen and the ratings. After that though all I get is the spinning wheel for like 3 minutes and then it goes back to the episode page. This happens when connected via Wi-Fi and Ethernet. I am not having any problems with HBO Go on any of my other devices (4 PCs and a Momo 7 tablet).
HBO GO FIX for MOJO
I was having the same trouble you described. I originally downloaded the hbo go app off the google play store which is version 3.0.1. got that same error. I and uninstalled found a different version 2.4.03 at mojo.madkatz.com using Chrome Browser and it fixed the problem. the site starts with a new owner tutorial slideshow before sending you to the full site. I know this post is from 6 months ago, but I could find no other information on any forum about how to fix it, so I hope this helps someone. That website also has other suggested and compatible versions of apps listed.
Hello Everyone!
I have been able to get my Xfinity TV Go app working on the FTV.
1. Download the Xfinity.apk [Mediafire]
2. Buy or Download the "Mouse Toggle for Fire TV" [Google Play - $2.99]
3. Install Mouse Toggle on an android device (tablet or phone) and make sure you are on the same network as the FTV stick.
4. Follow instructions on the Mouse Toggle app (EXTREMELY SIMPLE)
5. Install the Xfinity.apk to the FTV via ADB
6. Open the Xfinity app on the FTV
7. If the Mouse Toggle installed and is running QUICKLY double tap <PLAY/PAUSE> and you will see a cursor on the screen. Move it with the D-Pad and select Username/Email
8. Login with your Comcast Account
9. Profit?
I have done this and it 100% works! It is still a bit of a pain to have to switch to D-Pad mode to scroll and the Mouse Mode to select but all in all it works!
Thanks and any comments/feedback is greatly appreciated!

Yes you could but not everyone has a Bluetooth mouse. And for a cheaper one is 5 to 10 usd while the app is $2.99. Also it is easier to just use the supplied remote instead of multiple devices.
But to each their one.
@AndroidDeveloper4Life
Great guide write-up. Been using the Mouse Toggle since last year. Once you get use to it. It will become second nature to switch back and forth.
Are any of your FTV's rooted ? If so, is XFinity blocking playback on rooted devices ? Are you live streaming from XFinity on a FTV Stick ? Is it smooth? Asking because the ATT Uverse app has been pain if your rooted or overall too.
Thanks.
I do not have a rooted fire tv stick but will get one of the 3 in the house done soon. But it is great quality live streaming (about 1 min behind normal cable). Looks great almost HD quality. We have the 2nd step plan on the Cable (sorry it doesn't give a name online), and we also have the sports addon and everything works great. Of course it will take a min for it to reach HD quality upon loading a channel. But have access to 70+ channels and probably like 90+ if we had HBO, Showtime and all that. But it works great! A he|| alot better than Kodi live tv!
I have a rooted Fire TV 2 and the Xfinity apps work fine for me. Been using these apps for months now,

Great, will get an account from a friend to try it out. Haven't tried XFinity for close to two years. Glad they got their act together.
Also my bad experience might also be due to FireOS 3 vs FireOS 5. Since all my rooted FTV's are 1st Gen & are still on FireOS 3 waiting for an update.
Tried Uverse on a stock FTV Stick but there where still problems with both Amazon & PlayStore versions of the app.
What version of the XFinity app are your two using?
The Xfinity apps are great but it would be nice if they had D-Pad/button support. Like stated earlier, get that mouse ready!

Have been using & am used to the Mouse Toggle for Fire TV app since Nov. of last year. So no worries if a mouse is needed. Used to have some Logitech M325's hooked up to my 1st Gens. Don't anymore. I really like the scrolling options of the Mouse Toggle for Fire TV.

So does this really work on a nonrooted firetv stick running any software os3 or latest os5? Does it continue to work today( a couple months later)?
I'm trying to find out if I need a rooted ftv to play xfinity tv go app or is any nonrooted ftv1,2,or stick fine?
I tried it with a new cheap Android box but kept getting error 3322 on all the channels.

Anyone know a way install the other xfinity tv app?
The one that accesses the X1 DVR?
Today I tried installed the latest Xfinity app since the old one has been discontinued. When I try to launch it a black screen shows for a few seconds and goes back to the app list. Has anyone had any luck getting the latest version installed and working?

The tv go app still works, it just gives you an error on the home screen. You can still go to Live and search for content to watch. As far as the xfinity tv app goes you'll need to find an older version like 3.2.0.016 which works.

I know it still works, but is there ever going to be a time that it doesn't? It appears Comcast made the new app not function on a firestick or something. A little disturbing for the future...
So when I go to live tv now in the app all the channels have been removed and it says to get the new xfinity tv app and they have stopped supporting xfinity tv go.
I installed the latest xfinity tv app but it just ends up crashing every time. Any help?
Just install Kodi and then install the Exodus add-on.
You'll be able to watch every tv show and movie (that I've searched for) for free.
Also in better quality than Comcast. I have the X1 box and it looks like 720p resolution.
The difference is clear when you stream Amazon or Netflix at 1080p.
This doesn't answer the question at hand and yes it is another solution. What we are asking here is has anyone been able to get the current xfinity tv app to work on the firestick?
I actually got the new xfinity app to work on my fire tv, BUT i can't log in because it says you need internet explorer to log in. I used version 3.2.0.016 and i also tried the two versions after this version and they worked, BUT will not let you sign in your account. Is there any way i can download the app log in on my computer and then side load the app to the fire tv. I'm sure someone will figure this out. the tv go said they are not going to have it anymore, you can still watch some on demand movies on it, but no live TV.
Hey guys. Does anyone have a working apk of the DirecTV app for the Nvidia Shield Android TV?
It looks like it has HDMI protection and just fails to stream. Has anyone been able to remove the protection on the .smali file that has it?
What is the exact error that you are receiving? I use to be able sideload a Direct TV apk for either the phone or the tablet but now they have stop working. When it worked fine it was amazing. I was able to watch my subscribed premiums. I think we need to incentivize developers to find a means of allowing functionality through our Nvidia Shield. I will pledge a 300 bounty for the first person that finds a work around. There are many gifted people on this forum and as a whole we can solve this issue.
Any luck with this?
Not sure if it's an HDMI block because if you notice certain channels do work (local NBC works for me as well as ESPN channels). I'm inclined to think the device isn't giving the proper location access to the app thus forcing the error for most channels. Just my 2 cents.
I experimented with a custom ROM yesterday and the DIRECTV app worked great on it. I don't think the app has an HDMI block, I think it's more that the stock rom restricts the necessary permissions or location requests.
What android tv box are you using? Are you using the latest directv version (phone or tablet)? What custom ROM you use?
I have a shield TV and I'm using zulu99's full android marshmellow firmware. There isn't any controller support so you'll have to pair with a mouse/keyboard but pretty much all apps work on it.
Hey guys, I am in the same situation. I have found two other threads on the issue. It is definitely not an HDMI issue or a WiFi issue. Someone has tried to fool the app on what device it's on and it worked but it was too much work. There must be a simpler way to achieve this.

I would love to see someone figure this out. I have tried to tinker, but I am just not smart enough to make it happen. Hopefully one of the many crazy smart dev's will take a look at this sometime. ((fingers crossed))

but not working on my note 4
DirecTV now
Hi, DirecTV Now app is not in my Google play store ! I'm using Nvidia shield TV. Any reason why it's not showing up ..
Thanks
I would love to use the DirecTV Now app on the nVidia Shield too. I extracted the APK from the app I installed on my Pixel XL, and loaded it on the Shield, but I get the following error:
failed to connect to aeg-umsgw.quickplay.com/23.101.201.149 (port443) after 10000ms
Man, life would be good if they'd release this app for the Shield.
Ok, so I was able to extract the Fire TV .apk file and sideload onto my Nvidia Shield TV. I was able to open it and navigate using the standard Shield remote. The only issue I am having is playing live TV content. Sometimes it loaded fine and other times it gives me an error and telling me to Refresh the content. Seems to be very buggy for Android TV. Here is a link to the extracted .apk file. I would like to see what you guys get trying this out.

I got mine working. I did a Sideload APK install from APK Mirror "DIRECTV for Tablets 4.7.015 by DIRECTV, LLC --- September 9, 2016" (select that version)
My problem was that I kept trying to use the Telephone version of this App. I did not know that DirecTv has a Tablet APK version as well that is very similar but has slight variations for older tablets. Let me know if yours works now. I don't need $300, but a $10 Starbucks gift card will do...

It seems there is some confusion and contusion between the DirecTV apps. The hot new toppic is about the DirecTV NOW service. I ran the search on APKmirror and it seems what you are talking about is the older app for DirecTV satellite service customers.
http://www.apkmirror.com/?s=Directv&post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk
I am referring to the DirecTV app that is for satellite customers, NOT the Now app.
I was able to download the tablet version of the DirecTV app and use it on my Nexus Player running stock 7.1.1 system, but you have to use a mouse; the app is designed for touch input and while you can sort of use the remote, there are a bunch of things you cannot press without using a mouse. Still hoping for some official support at.. using a mouse isn't ideal. Here is the latest apk file: updated 11/24/2016 v. 4.9.010
http://www.filedropper.com/dtv
Resurrecting this old thread. Do you still use the directv app on your shield and is it working ok? Do you have a more recent apk you can share? For anyone reading this I am looking for the DirecTV app NOT the DirecTV Now app. Thank you!
Got my fire last night, immediately installed play store and google services which are working great. See my thread here. I've been trying for quite a while now and so far, I've come up almost empty. Long story short, Google, phone manufacturers and service providers, have done a very good job at embedding their own codes into the source, XML and build props that do one of two things: 1) Enable it (in the future) for only their devices using their services or 2) Added enough code on so many lines and pages, it's almost impossible to filter out what will or does work and for what devices and when. I am doing my best though. I been through two bricks on my XT907 trying to figure this out. Funny thing is, KitKat was one of the few versions of Android that had full support for it. They really did good at blocking it even from 4.4.2 (which is what my phone is).
