Google just released the new update for Youtube app in Android Market.
After I updated the app on my Nook Color, running on CM 7 RC, I found that Youtube app failed to load any clip at all.
Does anyone have this problem? I also have Nexus 1 which is updated as well but doesn't have such a problem.
Any ideas? Is it possible to downgrade Youtube by uninstalling it?
** My Nexus 1 recently has a new Market app but my NC is yet not upgraded. Is it going to be a big matter for a rooted NC?

I have the same problem, it keeps loading and never actually loads the vids. So good thing i made a back up before upgrading. I cleared app data, wiped dalvik/cache and still a no go. It seems other phones are also having problems with the update. I
All these new google apps are messed up -_-

Working OK here; CM7 nightly (151).
Hmmm. I just realized that Google AD, which plays right before the clip, is loaded and played. However, the clip I touched in is having a problem: "There was a problem while playing. Touch to Retry."
In the moment the HQ button appears, unchecked it. Videos will play in low quality fine. Waiting on a fix.

Reading the rating comments for the Youtube app in the market, it appears that this problem isn't limited to the NC and is occuring on several other platforms also.
I have only been able to get 1 video to play correctly. While watching my router's status lights, I can see that the videos are downloading but all I get is the spinny arrow or the "Touch to retry" error.
I just noticed when I went to the market website that Youtube is now listed as not compatible. Adobe flash as well. Funny when you consider they are both part of the stock setup. It's pretty clear Google is blocking apps not so much based on the device but whether it is rooted or not. Question is, all rooted devices or only those with CM7 on them?

Same here I saw a new YouTube update on my G2, this morning, and when I went to update it on my nook, it wouldn't allow me to update.

Another thing I noticed with the Youtube update is the restriction of certain videos from being played on mobile devices. Luckily, I had a backup of a pre-screwy Youtube and market update sd image and things are running fine again.
It really makes me wonder what is going on behind the scenes at google to cause them do all of this.
Yeah I'm having the same problem. Reverted to a backup and it's working again. This is on the latest release candidate.
Sent from my Nook Color!
It's working fine for me. I even played a HQ vid with on problem. I will say that when I clicked on one of the front page videos it just sat and spun its wheels but when I searched for something it played without any delay.
What version of CM7 is everyone using?
I am running 7.0.3 and was having problems with the updated youtube.
7.1.0-RC1 here.
yeah, youtube 2.2.16 will not work on my nook, but works fine on my htc aria. not sure why
nook: cm7 n155 / aria: cm7 n162
Same here. Running cm7 rc1 off of sd card. Some videos ran fine others didn't. Revered to old version on backup.

Nightly 151 off sd card here. Everything working fine with updated youtube. Every vid I tried played ok.
Same problem here with YouTube 2.2.16 not playing High Quality (HQ) videos on the Nook Color running CM7. Those of you who say it's not playing anything, your YouTube app may default to HQ video. As soon as the video downloading spinning circle appears on the screen, tap the screen in landscape mode to see the toggle switch to turn HQ off for that video. The low quality video should load up after you turn off HQ.
Anyway, last night I remembered that in the early days of rooting the NC we had the same problem with HQ video in the YouTube app. I tried the fix for that old problem last night and it worked on 2.2.16. All I did was sign out of my YouTube account, force stopped the app, cleared cache and data, and rebooted the NC. After reboot open the YouTube app, accept the TOS, and it should work. When everyone had this problem earlier this year, it would sometimes come back and we'd do the routine again to make it go away. I don't know what eventually solved the problem last time (an update fixed it?), but maybe the same behind-the-scenes permanent fix will solve the problem with 2.2.16.

Tried this - some videos are playing now in HQ but not others. Strange. For example I selected one artist and two of her videos would play but two wouldn't. After rollback to 2.1.6 they all play.
When I have a situation like this where the updated version of an app works much worse than the prior (Skype, Okcupid notably), I roll back and then use Titanium to force-detach it from the Market.
Even if there wasn't a problem playing videos with the new update, I still would roll back to the previous version.
I find it irritating as hell that this new version of the Youtube player has incorporated the "do not play on mobile devices" block on some videos. I did not like this "feature" on the Youtube Ipodtouch app and never could figure out the reasoning behind it.
So I've spent the last hour running logcats and Googling, but I can't seem to find an answer. When I start a download in the Play Store, it stays at "Downloading..." for around 2-5 minutes, then basically resets the download and it works. The logcats are saying stuff about logging slow HTTP requests (I saw around 23000ms response times) and not being able to find a file. It also switches the state from null to unqueued, then queued, then downloading, then success. It downloads and installs very fast after this.
I have no other ping/speed problems in any application. It leads me to think it's only the Play Store. The problem is I can't do anything about it unless I flash a different Play Store. Ugh. It took over an hour to download 40 apps when initially restoring my device. I wondered why it took so damn long.
Can anyone help?
Oh, forgot to mention, it takes >30 seconds for it to load the search predictions within the Play Store as well.
Oh yeah, and Facebook refuses to sign in. Sits there with the whole wheel slowly spinning and then says failed to authenticate, or something.
And yes, this is post-OTA.
Seems to be a WiFi driver issue, looks like DD-WRT or similar firmwares may be a factor as well. ANYONE please chime in!
Might be a play store issue. I've been trying for a while to install apps from Google Play but none of the free apps would download through my broadband internet. I disabled wifi, and now I can install free and paid apps.

It happens with more than just the Play Store, so I have to think it's a driver issue, or an API issue. The way some apps send packets must be messed up. Ugh.
I've changed my dns on my nexus player like a month ago and I got US netflix working in canada. Then like a week ago netflix just stopped working a through an error. So I changed the dns and my internet works for all my other apps but netflix. when I open netflix this error comes up: "there was a problem connecting to netflix please try again later (-12)". if anyone can help, i'd appreciate it! thanks

Make sure your DNS provider is actually forwarding all the right Netflix domains... I know mine was missing one (android.nccp.netflix.com specifically) that the other android apps apparently don't seem to use...

Thanks! i changed my dns to unblock-us's
Different Problem but...
I have been having problems with the Netflix app on my nexus player as well. It has been giving me a popup that says "We are currently unable to play this title. Please try again later or watch something else" Or something along the lines of that. When I hit more details, and then hit check connection, the nexus player cannot connect to any of the Netflix servers. I'm pretty sure it isn't a connectivity problem, because I have on occasion given up and just browsed YouTube for a while, but I would like to know if there's a way to fix this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, fandas.
rebooting made it work for me.
i have the same problem check the dns ok working on my computer and ipad but not on nexus player always says "We are currently unable to play this title. Please try again later or watch something else"
Follow the directions on unblockUS for changing the DNS on your router rather than your device. This should solve the problem.
Good luck
When I would transfer my player to another room or bring it to a friend's house I would run into that issue. The fix for me was just simply sign out of my Netflix account and signing back in.
I'm having a weird issue with Youtube. If I click on the tab for subscriptions, it crashes every time. I've tried clearing data/cache and "uninstalling it" back to the version that comes with the Mediapad ... no luck.
Mobile site subscriptions works fine. Videos otherwise play fine in the app.
Anyone?
The subscription tab is working fine for me at my 325 dpi setting. The new Kodi (v17), on the other hand, crashes for me every time so I had to side load an older version. You might try that with YouTube to see if it is just the newest version causing you problems. YouTube is a "special app", so I think the normal install of an apk will not work. There is a thread on XDA for an add-free version of youtube that has instructions for replacing the YouTube app and maybe even the add-free version will work for you. If you do replace your app, don't forget to turn off automatic updates in the play store.
Hmmm, I'm not running the DPI hack...
It's crashing for me as well, I'm using the lowest size setting within Display.
Confirmed bug. If I switch to Settings->Display->View Mode->Medium, Youtube subscriptions no longer crash.
anyone has resolved? I can't use subscription tab in youtube...
Hello,
Hope I am posting in the right place. This is the one game I wanted to get going on switch android. Has anyone got this game to run? I validated all the files and it loads up but gets stuck at the kotor logo screen.
Any ideas to get it working or does anyone know why it wouldnt work? So far Ive tried GLtools to spoof gpu/cpu in an attempt to get it to maybe work but no luck there either.
Thanks

Great ideas, both appear to come installed with the 8.1 switch android and I made sure they are up to date. Seems to be another problem getting it working.
Didn't tested but my hint is try using gltools to spoof another hardware to the game. Helps when I wanted to run rr2 in my s8, and seems that people are getting fortnite to work using it.
Working great for me, didn't have to spoof anything or do anything special, works right out of the box. In-game screenshot here.
Maybe try waiting a bit on the splash screen, it takes about 30-45 seconds for me to load up.

At least I know it can work. Thats strange mine wont get past the boot logo. I downloaded it from the play store current version.
My sd card seems fast enough android assistant says boot time is 2:00 to load into android and everything seems fast. Whats your boot time about?
Ya I can't get past the boot logo either. Always crashes when I push a button on a joycon or just hangs there till I exit. @spenat how did you install the game?
Absolutely nothing special: Just installed it from Amazon Appstore and played. Nothing more, nothing less.
Now that I think of it: Maybe there is a different version in Amazon Appstore, than on Google Play..?
Play store, Amazon app store and downloading the apk all cause the same issues. @spenat did you install shiedlier, magisk or the joycon fix?
I have installed following mods/updates:
- Shieldifier (and updated the Nvidia App)
- Magisk (latest)
- Joycon fix
That is it, not sure if it could have any impact on that.
Weird, nothing I do can make it work
If it's of any help, my KOTOR version is 1.0.9.
I have also recorded a short "test" video of the loading time (and a very short portion of gameplay).
What menu or app are you using to open the file?
It's a launcher called "ATV Launcher".
So I have bought it from Google and Amazon. Downloaded patched version. Clean wipe and fresh install on a new SD card. And nothing. Just hangs at the logo forever,
Same issue here, crashes on boot logo.
A thought, have you tried noting without the joy cons connected?
What KOTOR version are you using? Maybe try side-loading the KOTOR app (look for version 1.0.9).
I haven't tried launching the game without the joycons connected, will try and report back.
I have tried the 1.0.6 on google play, 1.0.7 on amazon, 1.0.9 underground and a bunch others and all do the same thing
hmph just hangs here too is this guy trolling? not cool gonna try atv launcher
just tried no luck there either.
Are you logged into the amazon game service? it wont let me do that...
do you also own this on a legit shield?
I am not "trolling", you can watch my video above - the game is working fine for me... No, I am not logged into amazon game service.
Also no, I don't have the game on Shield device, I don't even have one. I have it in Amazon Underground app store since a long time ago.
