Why do I get an 'unknown error' with my replacement lens? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

I have scratched my original lens, so bought a replacement OEM lens on ebay. But it says 'unknown error' when I use it (Even though the original still works). I bought another one on ebay and I get the same error. Any idea how I can fix this? Thanks.

I don't know, is the camera force closing or the entire system? If it's the system it might have to do with the NFC located there.

Replacement "Flashlight" or LED for Universal?

Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement (preferably OEM) "flashlight" or LED for my JasJar? The unit I have has a burnt out flash (or at least it never worked). I can open the case and remove the "flash" but where can I get a replacement? If I can't get a replacement, can anyone provide the specs to the replacement LED (in case I have to solder one in myself)?
Thx.
try to check service man. its on ftp, on wiki is scheme of uni if i remember as well. maybe it will help
Thanks. Yes, it references the HTC part number, and even lists Everlight as the manufacturer. But I cannot get HTC or IMate to sell me the part, and Everlight has about 3 possible versions of this SMD flash. Any ideas? Specs? Anyone?

camera module

anyone have experience taking apart the phone and replacing the camera module? or know what instruments are needed for this? thanks a lot!
Which Camera module did you need to replace ?
The main module (The one next to the battery) or the low res version for Video Calls ??
Both are fairly straight forward to replace (The Main one is actually easier than the Video Call One).....
The biggest problem you will have is obtaining one of these modules...
Having said that though, I did see a link here not so long ago for a place in china that was selling parts for these things relatively cheap (Screens, cases, etc).....
As for getting to the main module...
1) Remove Battery cover, battery, and all the screws around the battery area..
2) Remove the bottom cover (From memory there are 4 clips... Take your time and prise them off with a screwdriver...)
3) You should have access to the Camera module (From memory... Its been a long time since I took mine apart)....
There is a workshop manual on here somewhere... Definitely download the thing as it explains everything in regards to taking apart and putting the thing back together again....
yeah the main back camera
ill look around for the manual.. thanks!

It's on the ftp. Something with confidential in the name.
BTW I took mine apart (to replace the LCD and later again to replace the flex cable) and now the camera doesn't work anymore.
Hi man i have the same problem with you once my phone fell of and i think the camera is damaged so pleas if you find any links of the selling parts post it hear.I also damaged the flash light too.
Wow, my camera just started working again. I had the "Failed to initialize camera 3600:100:x" error.
I actually tried fixing that by swapping the camera from another MDA Pro, but that didn't help.
My main camera is not working and the flash too its not giving me any errors when i start the camera it takes some time to start and the only thing i have is a black screen my flash is not working too.Is there a place to bye one of these?Or if i send it to qteq will they fix it?And how much they will charge me for this?and i was thinking to sell it oh man.

[Q] Back Facing Camera Replacement(Software error)

So to make a long story short I recently broke the back facing camera on my Note 3. The Lens is cracked and obviously pictures are extremely distorted and purple in color and such. Knowing my usual DIY nature I figured it would cost me about 20 bucks to get buy a new camera and install it myself... Not exactly the case. At this point I have had 2 different replacement cameras and installed them both correctly. Both cameras have resulted in the error message "Warning: Camera Failed" and clearing the Camera data and cache have not helped. Neither has factory resetting the device. I also know it is not a hardware problem because when I reconnect the original camera it opens no problem.
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue or has similar experience or if anyone knows if I can try another replacement camera? Any help is much appreciated because at this point I am out of ideas

Basically i got into an argument on the phone and I slammed the phone on the desk I was at. Hoping to avoid a screen crack I slammed it on the back(With a case on) and the next time i opened the camera it was destroyed

Well, you say you replaced them correctly so the obvious conclusion is the hardware is different.

Thats why I was curious if anyone had personal experience or possibly knew where i could get a definite functional one from?... bump

Camera error after replacement and re-flash of ROM

Hello,
My rear camera of my Note 4 N920C broke (the glass and a little bit the glass of the camera) which resulted in a blurry image and not accurate shots at all. I decided to buy another one and replace it which I did..everything fits perfectly with the exception that when I try to turn on the new one it says "Warning Camera failed." I've read across the internet to clean the caches and do a full wipe of the system (which I did). I am using eRobot's ROM and flashed v33 of it, but it still displays the same error. How can I fix this?
Thank you in advance!
Simply go back to the vendor - check the connector first though

Rear camera issues/not detected

Hello Team,
I've had my Essential Ph-1 for several years and loved it. Recently I replaced the battery with no issues. However, I notice that since replacing the battery, the stock camera app would not launch with an error initializing the camera, and it said to restart the phone. Rebooting the phone made no difference.
I opened the device back up and carefully checked all the wires and connections, and they're all tight and nothing looks cut, cracked, or disconnected. I tried a third party camera app (OpenCamera), and it worked fine on the front facing camera, but the rear camera was in black and white only. Since then I have tried factory resetting and re-flashing the firmware, and now the front camera works (in third party app) but the rear camera is not even recognized and I don't get an option to swap cameras.
Any suggestions? Is there anything I can check to troubleshoot this further?
TIA!

As it's happened at the same time as battery replacement you'd have to think the two are related. Possible try a "simulated battery pull" to ensure camera is powered down, that is a force restart, press power button & vol driven together for 15secs (I think). If this doesn't work try disconnect/reconnect any components related to camera. Only other thing I can think of is the camera or related component has received ESD damage form static electricity (most likely a diode or small IC), maybe you can find a cheap bricked or damaged phone for spares, if camera module expensive, assuming it's the camera.
Appreciate the response. I think you're right. I've forced restarted and flashed it back to stock, and while the stock camera doesn't work, I found that if I use a third party app (such as OpenCamera) the rear camera works in Greyscale only (not in Color).

hummmm ... Yes, hard to say for sure boat seems like some hardware issue on the color camera, hope you can find a simple fix.
Appreciate the followup. After looking farther. I see there is a hairline crack in the camera. I bought a parts EssentialPH1 off of eBay for ~$50 and will give swapping them a shot.
