smooth update: just removed the -w from flash-all script, booted once, went back to TWRP to flash latest Flash Kernel + Magisk.
Fails safety net for me no more Google pay
1. Can I flash this (removing -w) over july 8.1.0 and keep all my apps and settings?
2. Is it already good enough as a daily driver?

Thanks! One more noobish question. Can I revert to a full TWRP backup (including vendor etc) if for some reason I want to revert back to stock 8.1?

You will need to perform a full backup, transfer the twrp folder to PC, flash vendor image, then flash twrp, then transfer over backup to restore.

have you tried to install a custome kernel? if i remember right, it should be enough to install a kernel for that..
I flashed it and in my enthousiasm forgot to remove the -w so it became a clean install...
DP4 is already a major upgrade over 8.1.0 with lots of new features. The portrait mode in the new camera app is great and also no intermittent wifi drops anymore.
Indeed its good enough as a daily driver so I'm staying on it now.

I'm using the element kernel for Android P and safety net is passing for me. That said, I haven't re-rooted the device as of yet so I'm just unlocked currently.
Safety net is working for me on Magisk 16.6, and latest ElementalX kernel.

Hey all. Ive been off the scene since July. I finally got my replacement N6. As soon as I turned it on, It had this update rarin to go so I installed it. Is this going to have any effect on unlock, root, custom recovery? I ask because it is brand new stock untouched other than the update.
Thanks Fellas

So, I was on the 6.0 Build for a long time but finally decided it was time to update. I moved up to this build and have had some issues. Before I just replaced the Hosts file to get ad blocking. But with the 6.0.1 builds the System is full. Easy workaround was creating a symlink to a hosts file that is placed in /sdcard/ But in this build it seems like it isn't doing any ad blocking. Anyone have any ideas why?
Thanks
Basically I have 3 wants aside from stock, I don't root so I can keep Android Pay, I want ad-blocking, and edit the Build.prop to net.tethering.noprovision=true

No, its a Nexus. But look into the new SuperUser by Chainfire, it is systemless now. So version 2.67 or higher. Also the system partition is full now. You cant write to it without deleting a couple of items first like unused keyboards.
I have seen so many new versions of Viper, and as I said in my previous post I turned on my phone from brand new, fast boot, unlocked bootloader and rooted. I installed TWRP, version 3001. So at this moment I am stock rooted with TWRP version MMB29X. Can anyone kindly point me to the best and correct TWRP flashable version of Viper? Without V4A, I feel like I have half a phone. Did anybody using Magisk 16 on Honor 8? My main concern is the Magisk Hide and the safety checks...
Since Magisk 16 there are some support on Honor devices but in the real life I am not sure if is a point to going away from SuperSU...
It works fine. Supersu was taken over by a Chinese company. Chel stopped reviewing code for it. So unless you like your privacy, stick with supersu.

Everything is about privacy in this days...
Which is the last version of SuperSU, which was maintained by Chel?
So for privacy point is better Magisk. How is the privacy in Magisk? That's a big question
Which version of Magisk you're using? I have FRD-L09C432b394 but I am wondering if the Magisk Hide and the safety checks will work, because this s known problem with Honor/Huawei devices. I see the support from v16 for Honor devices but I don't know what's clearly mean that.

I'm using 16.3. Almost every single magisk version released has worked fine for me. Chel doesn't maintain it anymore. You can use an older version of supersu but I'm not sure why you'd want to do that. As far as usb debugging.. i always have that on anyway.. i have an L04 and I'm on 392 firmware. Magisk is much better. I was very very hesitant when I switched, specially since it wasn't at the state it is now, but I'm glad i switched.

I have seen that nobody shared this informations: openkirin is working on lineageos, resurrection remix, carbonrom and omnirom. These are treble ROMs and openkirin has published beta previews that support our device, we have fully working cameras with stock emui camera app on every rom( with all functions), every rom works perfecly, no bugs, no issues, everything works, I only faced with overheating caused by fast charger that I fixed using a normal charger. You find links on openkirin telegram group, keep in mind that these are only previews so things could be even better. (Thanks openkirin)

No. No volte. The openkirin team will tell you the exact same thing. And sorry but those who pay attention to xda about Oreo know these images already exist. They've been discussed here for well over a month.
I don't think the Treble ROMs are working very well. I've Tried LOS Beta 5 from openkirin's website. Factory reset using custom recovery after Flashing the LOS system image didn't work. However the ROM booted and there was some issues like, random google error message pop-ups and both the camera apps aren't working. I've tried this thoroughly by following the installation guide on their website but still had these issues. Any suggestions or help is welcomed.
You should NOT use custom recovery at all.

You first need to update to Oreo, yes. Neither Marshmallow nor Nougat support Treble ROMs.
Depending on where you live and what model you own you probably need to rebrand though. Or you wait until Honor/Huawei rolls out the update for your region, which shouldn't take TOO long anymore.

I'm experiencing similar things.
SD card doesn't get recognized/system says it's corrupted which is obviously isn't, root via ramdisk method works but Magisk is buggy and modules just won't install, WiFi randomly turns off or disconnects with no pattern behind it... I've tried both LOS (twice) and ROS (once) and they both have similar problems. Guess I'll have to stay on EMUI then... *sigh*

I heard for other devices (Pixel 2) the UI (At least on the home screen) has been much more fluid with the updated Pixel launcher. I would agree with this on the Pixel XL too now...I have far less stutters using navigation gestures and swiping right to go to the Discover feed. Good update!
This is really random, but after updating anyone else having an issue with the screen turning off when a right to far left of the screen is performed? Noticed it when I was swiping a word from far right of the screen to far left, and it turns the screen off. Does the same thing outside of the app. Checked the Gestures settings and couldn't find anything relevant. (Wiped data on upgrade) Any suggestions are appreciated!

doubt it. you need the kernel too (boot.img). then you'd need to reflash twrp and magisk.
you also need new radio & bootloader img's.
what's so hard about re-rooting? you just have to flash twrp and magisk, right?

We still don't have the "reserve" partition though. OnePlus fonts will be missing and show up as italic fonts. A few apps are also gone but can be installed from play store. You wont pass Safety net so you will miss out on Netflix, etc.
No F/C's. Not sure on battery yet.

I used patched MSM tool to get TMobile variant to international ROM without unlocking bootloader and then I local upgraded to Android 10 stable, then local upgraded to OB 2 and all is well!
So I'm on Android 10 Stable with bootloader unlocked. What happens if I relock bootloader? Will I go into bootloop on restart, and will it get rid of the warning on restart, or do I need to do what @bigmikey307 did?

So like @Scott Mentioned, it requires root to pass at the moment. The Magisk mod is called Magiskhide props config and it works perfectly well as a workaround. Good luck!

I'm probably overlooking something obvious but I have no idea what it is.
Here's the story; I have a T-Mobile OP6t converted to International.
Flashed the update to OB31 (Open Beta 2).
I have Magisk and Titanium Backup installed, both with root access allowed.
However, I'm unable to get TB to actually uninstall some of the system apps I don't want.
Also, I can't copy and paste (via Solid Explorer) my edited HOSTS file to block ads.
What am I missing?

We still don't have the "reserve" partition though. OnePlus fonts will be missing and show up as italic fonts. A few apps are also gone but can be installed from play store. You wont pass Safety net so you will miss out on Netflix, etc.
No F/C's. Not sure on battery yet.
Everything else does seem good! I am enjoying it!

The OP Weather app for instance, the OP square and round icon packs, e few more that I dont recall. All of them could be downloaded from the play store. You only need the font fox magisk module referenced earlier in this thread. You wont notice these missing apps on a dirty install but you will see it on a clean install or factory reset.
Reinstalling the ROM ZIP via in-built updater fixes the issue. Done it multiple times.
