Help with unresponsive touchscreen - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I recently imported a global version Xiaomi mi A1, which had been working perfectly until yesterday.
I was on a trip for the weekend, and the phone was off most of the time as I had forgotten then charger. This issue because apparent yesterday when I arrived home.
The touchscreen has become totally unresponsive. If I reboot the phone by holding the power button it works if I use it immediately, but if I don't use it straight away, or lock the phone/let it go to sleep it doesn't work at all.
I have tried factory reset and safe mode, neither of which helped.
I have contacted the seller, who so far is just asking my silly questions.
I am not particularly technically skilled, but any advice would be appreciated!

Same Problem
Did you solve the problem? I have the same problem.

i am faced with the same issue too. hope someone is able to assist.
This sounds suspiciously like the DSOD problem that plagued the Sprint and Verizon 6700 Units. DSOD = Dark Screen of Death After much research the problem was found to be caused by the SD Card. More specifically having programs installed to the SD card, it seemed power managment was not properly implemented or something and often times when something was accessed on the SD card while the unit was in suspend it would exhibit the same symptoms you described.
There is a long forum post about it here.
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6700-xv6700/79197-regedit-i-have-made-make-6700-more-stable.html
my screen washes out white sometimes
Mine will turn the backlight off randomly when I start to enter a text message or an email... it turns back on after I press a button however.
DSOD? Yikes sounds terminal! As for the SD issue, the screen went dark after a hard reset / rom reflash with no sd or sim card in.
I'm going to send it back to HTC Europe, hopefully they'll swap it? Anyone had any experience with an RMA to these peeps?
Thanks
SOD and White Out Screen
Guys:
Let me share this with all. I got the white out screen of death on my TyTN about a month after I bought it. I would take the unit out of sleep, it would momentarily flash the good screen then fade to white, then black. I thought this was a software issue with something I had installed, so I re flashed the phone a couple of times and the problem persisted. This problem is an issue that needs repair, I'm afraid. I tried contacting HTC about this through their website and got no response. I guess they don't talk to peons like us. So, a week later, I contacted the place where I bought it in the USA, networkingrus.com, since it was still under warranty and they gladly issued an RMA...return merchandise authorization for repair. They said this was a common issue with many TyTNs and I was surprised at their high level of customer service with these guys in contrast with the ignoring I got from HTC directly. Once they received my phone here in the US, they forwarded it to the US agent/wholesaler who then sent it to HTC Europe in the UK for repair. The turn around time for my situation was about 6 weeks, but it was during the holidays, so figure normally it would take about 4 weeks before you get the phone back under normal conditions. They repaired it very well and it works flawlessly....however, they do flash the repaired phone with the oldest firmware HTC has, so you'll need to do a firmware upgrade for your area/country when you get the phone back from repair, as I did. That's my 2 cents on this issue. So, yes, it is a repair issue.
i have this problem when i open my keyboard and in the same time i play some file in media player. then when i want to write sms, document or something my screen blacks out when i stop typyng

Got the same issue, not resolved yet. It happens most of the time while I am typing on MSN over wifi. As MSN is yet quite buged he may be the culpit; I may try to investigate a little more this issue.
EDIT: In fact my screen does not turn completely black; it just loses the backlight.
I have kind of the same problem. A while after I've installed official WM6 only the backlight turned on when I woke the device from standby. And sometimes the hardware buttons stops working, when this happends the lights in the green and red call buttons are on, even when I set the telephone in standby. Sometimes when this happends the orange charging light also turns on, and I get a bright blue flash in the bluetooth light(much brighter than the actual bluetooth light).
I've tried to turn of the standby, now the device never get black screen(it seems that the black screen only happends when I wake the device from standby). But still the buttons locks up randomly during the day...
Now I've downgraded to official WM5. The telephone was ok for a while, but now it shows symptomes of the same problem.
Is this a hardware or software problem?
Anyone else have this problem?

HD2 Touch Screen Not Responding

Hi Guys i hope somebody who knows about capacitive touch screens can help me! I have taken my HD2 apart to fix a smashed camera lense. On removing the back cover i used a small screwdriver to prise off the back case and unclip it all round. It came off with no problem, i fixed the camera and put it back together. When i turned the device back on the touch screen isn't responding to my finger on any screen. Like i turned the touch screen off! The hard buttons still wok but nothing from the screen. Nothing looks damaged (I.e the glass isn't smashed). I seem to think i might have damaged something when prising the cover off with the screwdriver. Please, any suggestions would be really helpful!!!
Can anybody out there help with this? I am currently without a phone :-(
I have exactly the same problem, but it happened from nowhere. I didnot unscrew anything. Please Help
Check the flex cable.. this part are very delicate.

same problem
ive got the same problem, mine just stopped working, i performed a soft and hard reset, removed the battery still nothing. it worked for a moment but once locked it stopped working again, only the hard buttons.
same problem but it works on and off. basically the screen will respond until the phone is put into hibernate. the after that id have to push the phone button and end button back and forth until it responds
Same Issue independant of ROM
Same issue here.
Funny thing is it started a week or two ago randomly out of the blue.
Same scenario:
lock the phone can't get touchscreen to respond for unlock
Judging by these posts everyone started seeing this about the same time, maybe it's a software issue or background app .
Help!
I have same problem. It can work for a couple of hours or in 1-2 days then just stop responding, almost every time when in hibernate. Lets just hope it's not hardware failure.
This started happening to me this morning. Out of 50 tries, managed to unlock the phone three times only. This happened out of the blue, right after i removed my phone from the charger.
Have soft reset, hard reset, reflashed ROM, but the issue still remains.
I really really hope this is not a hardware issue.
Does anyone out there know how to solve this? My phone is virtually unusable right now...
Same problem here, I've been testing for about 2,5 months now and today I've sent mine back to HTC . I think it's a hardware problem, tried everything from hard resetting to reflashing. When I press the HTC logo and keep it pressed the screen does respond again. Conclusion: hardware problem.

You're probably right.
I've also tried everything. But kind of strange that if I lock when not on home tab it seems to work. And the screen, almost always, reacts as it should as long as I just dont' lock it.
I just started to get this issue. touch screen works fine until it hibernates. reflashed, still happens. found this in my search:
htcphones.net/htc-hd2-problems-with-touchscreen/
just got off the phone with tmo. they are sending me a new one.
Yeah, it happened to me as well. I opened a new thread like a month ago explaining the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710282&styleid=15
and I contributed in another one concerning the same issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708530
Summing all up, it ain't caused by a software or a ROM of some kind (at least in my case) because soft and hard resets didn't solve it nor did the flash of a stock ROM. The most probable cause is a digitizer (touchscreen) defect that appears randomly and totally out of the blue. The only thing to do in my opinion is to send the phone in for repair, which I did. It came back with a check mark on "calibrated screen" checkbox. As of now phone's working fine and I hope they solved it even though I read of other people who have had their leo's screens completely replaced..
A curious side note: htc care reset to zero my phone's call duration timers..
I'm not sure if it's the screen. In my case I think it's the connector from the screen to the motherboard, because pressing the housing seems to help.
But let's see if HTC is able to repair it, I hope they are, because the problem is so random they might not even see it
After losing functionality on my touch screen for a week, finally decided to send it in. Took the trouble to revert my HSPL to original and Stock Rom.
Repair should take about a week. Now I'm stuck with an ancient Nokia 6230i for this week. I feel so lost without my ppc. Have had one for as long as I can remember.
Hopefully the phone comes back okay...
I've had so much problem with the screen not responding so I did all backup then reflashed, hard reset to put the device back to stock. Did this during the weekend, I even fired up my old iphone 3g to have as backup phone.
All set today to go to the store and have it repared under warranty.
But since Sunday evening it works perfect. I've been testing it a lot and the screen has not stop responding even once.
This might be just temporarily but does anyone else experienced something like this?
Mine sometimes worked well for hours... days... but eventually the problem came back.
Mine died on me when I was actually out of the country (stuck in Vietnam without a phone). It would work for 5 minutes, then stop for hours. I would have to switch my phone on and off for a couple hundred times before it worked for another 5 minutes...
Got so tired of it that i sent back my HD2 for warranty repair. Expect it to be back tomorrow (or Friday at the latest). Hope there's no further problems with it.
I hate to say it, but the HD2 is known for its highly defective touchscreen. Even when it's working, a lot of people experience strange and bothering events, such as the touchscreen "touching" itself, a very high/very low screen sensitivity all of a sudden, the tilting of the screen to one of the four corners of the device and so on and so forth.
With a device so expensive one would expect it to work flawlessly. Seems to me that HTC doesn't think the way we do...

Touchscreen not responding

Sometimes my nexus 6p screen doesnt respond to touch at all. The power and volume buttons still work as does the fingerprintscanner.
Rebooting changes nothing. After a few minutes the screen starts responding again.
Anyone know how to fix this or what causes it?
Are you using the stock cable and charger.

RMA
Sent from a 128th Legion Stormtrooper 6P
Anyone find a fix for this? I'm having the exact same issue upon reboot. Even after factory reset.

I think the fix is to RMA.
Same Issue (Nexus 6P Touchscreen not responding)
I had the same problem with my Nexus 6P it would suddenly become unresponsive, then after a few minutes it would respond again. The problem started after the very first update to the phone which I have only had for just under 2 months, however a few days ago it became unresponsive but never responded to touch again. I left it thinking it will start to work again but never did. The Fingerprint Scanner works, the volume and power button work. My last resort was to give it a hard reset, which i did but not even that worked so now I have a brand new phone that doesn't work and am yet to find a fix for it.

My N6P screen die same way yesterday too (no recent updates, I guess it's a hardware issue). Talked to Google hardware support guy, tried same usual troubleshooting, nothing worked. Now I am waiting for a replacement.
How did you fix your screen?
Nexus 6P Unresponsive
Exact same thing has happened to me...
I got it from my Provider, within two days the phone would start glitching (I would tap the screen, and it would register 10 taps) and then it just became unresponsive, this would last hours... I sent it for an RMA but because of a slight bend on the side with the buttons (Quarter or a Millimetre bend) they would not repair it unless i payed $300 AUD or like $250 USD... Now im just stuck with a phone that I recieved not working
Had the same problem; after eliminating every other possibility, I got an RMA which fixed it (I put back a twrp backup so the software was _identical_; definitely a hardware problem).

OnePlus 2 not responsive after turning off the screen

Hi All,
My OPO2 becomes not responsive at all after keeping the screen off for more than 1-2 seconds.
Turning on and off the screen fast works well.
It is not really powered off because:
1. I can call to it, but there is no ring and no option to answer.
2. In order to turn it back on, I must long press the power button.
If I keep the screen on the phone works just fine for long hours.
I've tried factory reset, and even switched the stock OS with CM - and the issue reoccurred.
Happening only when unplugged.
Any ideas what else I can try?
Appreciate very much the help.
Same happened with my other Android device it would go unresponsive after I lock the screen I think it is a hardware related may be your proximity sensor is faulty check with service center.

Full wipe and try reflashing stock oxygen os 3.0.2 it may solve ur problam
Solved!
Hi,
Actually I had the capacitive buttons and the home button not working at all either,
so in this case it came into my mind that they may cause this issue to happen.
I have simply disconnected them both from the motherboard and the problem solved!
Obviously, replacing them is an additional option.
Thank you everyone for the help

Touch Screen Unresponsive - RMA?

Hi,
Was just browsing my gallery when the touch screen would respond, along with the back and window change button. However the home / finger print button did work as I was able to get to the home screen.
However I restarted the phone and I couldn't pattern unlock due to the the screen being unresponsive still. Booting into TWRP has the same issue and I cannot use the screen to decrypt.
Anything to try before RMA?
Have you tried applying some pressure to the screen?
Other than that, the best option is to RMA. Sounds like some loose connections

Cheers. Managed to flash the stock kernel via fastboot (was on Franco) and it's now back to working. Very odd...
Just to update, my note above was coincidental. Basically the screen would stop responding and I would need to restart or leave it off for a few minutes before it would start working.
A few weekend's ago it happened again and wouldn't work, regardless of how many restarts.
I contacted Oneplus support on the Sunday and arranged an RMA. Phone was collected Tuesday, repaired on Friday (new motherboard) and returned to my door the following Tuesday. Very happy with the one week turnaround and very smooth and painless from Arvato (repair centre based in the Czech Republic).
Phone is now back up and running!

I'm having the same problem as you. I took a picture and then tried to view the photo when the touchscreen stopped working completely with only the fingerprint button that works. I restarted and got stuck on the lockscreen. I fixed the touchscreen problem after deleting the lockscreen keys in trwp... so I don't know if it is a hardware (motherboard) issue for me or just a software bug. I still have 2 more months left in warranty,
The other problem I'm having now is that trwp is asking me for a password that I never set. And when I boot into the phone, I have a blank screen and cannot set a new pin/password or anything. So essentially, my device is encrypted and I can't access my data. I think doing a complete format in twrp will fix it, but it will also erase my internal drive. Just wondering if you have come across this issue with your phone and if you have a solution?
