Just wondering if it's possible to get Android Go working on the HTC Wildfire. I still have one lying around for use as a backup phone. I read that many Sony phones from 2012-13 are getting Go ported for them.
Hello, I think not really. HTC Wildfire had its premiere in 2010. It also has 384 MB RAM, CPU - Qualcomm MSM7225 and processor clock - 528 MHz with one core. Do you really think that it would be possible to make Android GO? I own one HTC Wildfire myself, but I sincerely doubt it.

I was just reading ENGADGET today and I came across this new 2.8 QVGA device from HTC. It kinda looks like the TATTOO. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about it?
HTC SMART
Not at all
The tattoo has 512MB ROM, the smart has 256MB ROM
The tattoo has a Qualcomm MSM 7225 528 MHz processor while the smart has a 300MHz Brew Mobile (whatever that is) processor amongst other differences.
Its not at all the same thing.
not even android
the HTC smart is a budget phone running a basic BREW OS with HTC Sense over it, it is not even an android phone actually.
Hope this helps.
Its not Android but HTC did it well enough that interface and typing seem similar to Android, to make it easier for people to move from this to Android or WM for that matter.
NO !!!
HTC is finally going for s40, se, samsung and lg proprietry.
Good luck I say, the profit in that market is small and customers want to pay nothing
Although this phone will be very hackable, as its based on linux, so would be a real step up from the basic phones
Anyoen else agree it's not that pretty?
I believe this is an entry level smart (not so much) phone. If we compare the choices we have Samsung Corby and LG Cookie as its competitors. Atleast HTC is giving them a better UI and more usability than what these phones offer....once the user starts looking for more features and apps he will make a natural progression to HTCs Android or WinMo...
hey colonel, please correct me if I am wrong, isn't S40 Symbian?? this phone is clearly a BREW one? Thanks
Yeah, S40 is Symbian, which also runs on my horrible Nokia 2730 Classic... It lags like crap. S60 is better, but I don't like Symbian. Android FTW!
Hello,
Im wondering around and in very few times i found useable android builds outside the QUALCONM(xdandroid) processors and even MARVEL Processors(Androimia).
Today i found this site.
http://www.mistralsolutions.com/assets/downloads/android.php
They say they port an stable and fullversion os android on amap devices(such htc touch, htc viva, touch 3g,etc..)
Can someone cleaver and corageus can check what is this and if its really work on omap phones.
Best,
Pedro Aragão
Would it be possible to put a cooked WM ROM on Desire HD? I ask this because I plan to buy one and I only have experience with WM (on my Kaiser and HD2)...

i dnt think its possible..
since u have hd2, load up desire hd android build and start getting the feel of android.. Its not that complicated to get used to
...alternative?
Thanks jjblaster3. Considering this, is there a "best phone" which would "accept" both OS with decent, comparable performance?

currently HD2 ftw(thanks to the awesome beast, snapdragon processor)..
supporting 3 OS's; winmo, linux and hopefully soon to come windows phone 7..
notice that i used the term linux instead of android coz linux is general term for all the distro's (android, ubuntu, meego, etc)
currently only ubuntu and android are present but i heard people were starting to work on meego however no progress so far
ok, understood... but... the desire hd will also have a snapdragon processor, so is this the only reason?
The fact is, the HD2 was a gift for my wife and she seems to be happy with it, so I would need another device, hopefully with even better performances and flexibility concerning the usable OS (I am more "involved" in the technical domain, wishing also to try some programming/cooking)...

the fact that most of the other new android phones like the nexus one and evo 4g are based on snapdragon similar to hd2, makes porting drivers n all much simpler..
the fact that hd2 has a snapdragon, makes the performance quite similar (or shud i say better compared to all those other devices having msm 7*** processors, like the kaiser for example)
the desire hd snapdragon is abit different (i think its better) but well the android build runs perfectly well on hd2 (maybe that it just demands a bit more ram than other sense builds for its extra visual impressions, rotation support n all) but nothing that the hd2 cant handle
well i guess the current winmo phone out there with the best performance is the hd2..
i dont think they will get any better in terms of winmo (havent heard of any new devices apart from the chinese OBOE which is similar to hd2)
i cant say for sure if any of the future android or windows phone 7 devices will have the same fate (dual booting/triple booting OS's)
as for now i see no hope in android being capable of doing that (unless maybe its just dual booting linux, i read thats possible)
and as for windows phone 7, we just have to wait for its release first (if there's no delays its gonna b this month) and then for the devs at xda to try and find ways to make dual booting to android for it possible.. ONLY TIME WILL TELL.
so my suggestion would be to wait until you get to see all the possibilities among different varieties and then make the ultimate choice..
(as for me im stuck with the hd2 and wont b able to replace it anytime soon, just a 16 yr old student without a job so i consider myself lucky to even have 1, but my love for this phone increases day by day)
The Desire HD IS in some parts better than our beloved HD2 but for running another OS it's the best device so far! As mentioned you can boot Windows Mobile, Android and Ubuntu! Meego is a 'Work in Progress' and even Cotulla seems to have succesfully bootet Windows Phone 7 through his own bootloader! What other mobile device could handle so much OS's?
See, the Desire HD has a QSD8255 (45 nm), 768 MB RAM, 2 GB ROM, a 8 MP camera with 720p video recording and the new Adreno-205 GPU! The HD2 has a QSD8250 (65 nm), 576 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM (1024 for US model), 5 MB cam without 720p video recording! You see, the Desire HD HAS better hardware but our HD2 can handle the Android OS from Desire HD, you only need to look into the Android section for HD2! Only cam isn't working till now but it will in the future, I think!
Edit:
You can compare both devices here: HTC Desire HD and HTC HD2
I know that google has said you need 1 ghz and 512 megs of ram (and a bigger screen) to run gingerbread, but do you think there is any chance a slimmed down version could make it's way to the HTC magic?
Or is the HTC magic with 2.2 froyo the most advanced we'll get until we go for another upgrade?
I mean, considering the fact that the HTC magic doesn't even have a graphics processor, it's horribly out of date and runs poorly, so an upgrade is certainly worth it.
There's no sure information what I have found on the matter, but maybe yes - but it needs a lot of work, for all the differences.
Even if the SDK derived sneak peek rom seems to work somehow, IDK if it really could be ported.
I'm satisfied with Froyo & and it's features right now.. But OFC would like to donate to those who would port. CM would be best?

Will the HZ be compatible with the next Android release? I remember reading minimum CPU speed needed is 1.0GHZ. Will the overclock be of any help towards this?
The 800 MHz processor in the DZ is faster than the 1 GHz processors of the previous generation (e.g. Nexus One).
So it seems highly unlikely to me that the DZ won't be able to handle it, and that the current 2.2 release would be the last one for a brand new phone.
Since Gingerbread (Android 2.3) is coming to the Nexus One in the coming week(s), expect it on the DesireZ eventually. When is the question rather than if.
huh...
