I sent the camera to LG for a broken screen repair. Now I've it back with a factory reset, and the LG camera app is not working! When I start it it freezes in a black screen (with shooter/video buttons) for a 3-4 seconds and then throws the error: "Error de càmera - La càmera no està disponible" (translated to English: "Camera error - The camera is not available")
I tried the cstark app and it works (but I can't access settings, it forces closing)
Is it possible to reinstall the original apk? What can I do?
That sounds more like a hardware issue (i.e. they forgot to plug the camera module back in). I'd contact the guys who replaced the screen.
By "it works" do you mean: the front and back camera work, but the settings in the app cause the app to close? Is the modded gcam app for your model?
If both cameras work in Google Cam try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.footej.camera&hl=en_US
If not, back to LG

Yes, I used the cstark27 mod and at least the back cameras worked, I didn't tested front ups

Hi, has anyone found a solution for this problem? I bought used lg g6 with "camera not available" message when opening lg cam. But interesting is fact, that wide angle and main cam works, when im using other apps, or even stock, when im holding stock cam icon and choosing selfie camera. To sum up, selfie cam not work at all (even when replaced for new one), main cam works time to time (i don't know why, sometimes works fine, other phone gets a massive lag), wide cam works always. Is there a possibilty that selfie cam is somehow connected to main cam, and the main cam is causing this problem?

If a factory reset or kdz won't fix it. Send it back. Hopefully you haven't had it long.
Maybe it's rooted with some broken camera mod?
Personally I'd try returning it over trying kdz.
Unfortunately, i have no varranty card (it is used phone). Kdz didn't helped at all same as mounting brand new camera. Sadly, I don't know the history of this phone. Anyway, thanks for reply!
Unfortunately,My phone gets into water even its water proof but after sometimes camera cannot work as if black screen (camera error, camera is not available) but if i am using gcam app then both cameras are working properly. But again there is a problem in connecting social site , front camera is not working only back one is operatable. So please give me some solutions for this.

Hello everyone!
Since I replaced the broken rear camera of my GT-I9505 the camera doesn't focus properly. First I thought it was a faulty replacement, but the replacement of the replacement as well as the camera from a different seller show the same behaviour:
The google drive widget for scanning docs focusses correctly, but none of the available camera apps work. As soon as the app tries to focus the focus goes into near mode and remains there with no further movement.
I have factory reset the phone, reinstalled all camera apps, flashed other roms, factory reset again, with no change.
Has anyone experienced this as well?
Thanks for any tips

So little rear camera replacements? I guess I am the only fool that managed to crack it

Hello there
I also have this same problem and done all those same things to fix this. 12cam is now useless. Some1 help us out of our misery! :I
I just picked up the i9505 second hand (first smartphone). Same problem here. I went through 3 camera module parts off eBay... first one was the wrong part (i9500), and other two were supposedly i9505 - same results: camera never focuses. *Sometimes* it will temporarily focus if I moderately shake the phone, even then, only if the phone is tilted upright and not facing down.
Is the front camera unaffected for you guys?

Might camera hw problem
my lg g2 can't connect to camera and hence force crashes, the front camera works. i replaced the camera by buying a new one, but the issue is still present,
i've noticed something though, when i installed a torch app, the following message comes up - "Due to limitation of your hardware or OS, your device does not support LED Cam light, We will light up your screen at maximum instead."
It also says - "Your LED is being used by another application. We will light up your screen instead."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers
Try reflash your phone to stock .kdz might help.

These would probably a hardware issue then. Since nothing could fix it by meant of software. Did you get a genuine camera module for the replacement? Im afraid its not compatible or at least the module itself is broken. If you happen to consider buying another camera module i would suggest getting G3 camera module as it 100 percent compatible with G2 and also it had a little better spec.

could it be that the replacement camera is faulty? hmmm, i'm not sure. the one i got was genuine though. so im not, i fell inclined to believe it may be the camera flash thats causing these issues.

Sometimes even a perfectly careful assembly could mess up something. Maybe its just a loose cable or shorting something. It could be.
Any solution to it ??? I also have same issue? @salespalace

Turned out to be a hardware issue - despite replacing with a new camera port, still didn't work, - which told me there was an issue with the motherboard. sold the phone off. so no real solution. sorry.
The front camera on my phone does not work at all. If I chose the front camera, the phone tries to witch to it for about 3 seconds, then it just switches to the wide-angle back-camera.
Is there a solution for this?
The phone model is D990HS which I bought fron eglobacentral.
Can it be that they flashed a wrong ROM on it before sending it even though the phone was supposed to be new?

Yes, it was a hardware problem. I changed the front facing camera and the issue was gone. I boight the front facing camera from aliexpress for about 8usd, I think. replacing it was easy too. There is instruction for disassemblying an LG V20 on youtube .
Hi all,
Been going crazy trying to find the 'selfie' camera on my new Axon 7 A2017G.
Used the SD update method and images from the AU Axon 7 site to go from what was the latest MM to the current latest available N image (1.2.0B09).
Stock Camera App doesn't seem to have a 'selfie' / front facing camera mode.
Open Camera doesn't have a switch, and the icon used for switching in Snapchat is also missing.
I'm hoping im being a complete numpty and missing something obvious, bc otherwise this is sounding like a fairly serious software/hardware issue.
Have tried clearing data and cache both through android and through the stock recovery, as well as a factory reset through both android and stock recovery.
Any thoughts?
Attached is a screenshot of the stock camera app right after a recovery factory reset (thumbnail link to full).

Lol you don't have it. That's just because you don't have a front camera attached; I used to have my moto g 2 fully disassembled and if the front camera wasn't attached the button wouldn't appear.
You have two ways around this: follow jerryrigeverything's video and try to reseat the connector, or just send it in for repairs or whatever

Yea ended up looking into it after posting here and came to a similar conclusion. Not very happy atm, as thats a pretty big thing to be broken out of the box :/
Will be contacting both the retailer i purchased it from as well as ZTE to see what can be done.

I mean, how do you know the transport didn't disconnect it? Maybe it wasn't properly seated, it passed qc testing, and it got disconnected later
It's also attached with a piece of tape I think, so i think it's plausible
But yeah, just send it in.
Hello Team,
I've had my Essential Ph-1 for several years and loved it. Recently I replaced the battery with no issues. However, I notice that since replacing the battery, the stock camera app would not launch with an error initializing the camera, and it said to restart the phone. Rebooting the phone made no difference.
I opened the device back up and carefully checked all the wires and connections, and they're all tight and nothing looks cut, cracked, or disconnected. I tried a third party camera app (OpenCamera), and it worked fine on the front facing camera, but the rear camera was in black and white only. Since then I have tried factory resetting and re-flashing the firmware, and now the front camera works (in third party app) but the rear camera is not even recognized and I don't get an option to swap cameras.
Any suggestions? Is there anything I can check to troubleshoot this further?
TIA!

As it's happened at the same time as battery replacement you'd have to think the two are related. Possible try a "simulated battery pull" to ensure camera is powered down, that is a force restart, press power button & vol driven together for 15secs (I think). If this doesn't work try disconnect/reconnect any components related to camera. Only other thing I can think of is the camera or related component has received ESD damage form static electricity (most likely a diode or small IC), maybe you can find a cheap bricked or damaged phone for spares, if camera module expensive, assuming it's the camera.
Appreciate the response. I think you're right. I've forced restarted and flashed it back to stock, and while the stock camera doesn't work, I found that if I use a third party app (such as OpenCamera) the rear camera works in Greyscale only (not in Color).

hummmm ... Yes, hard to say for sure boat seems like some hardware issue on the color camera, hope you can find a simple fix.
Appreciate the followup. After looking farther. I see there is a hairline crack in the camera. I bought a parts EssentialPH1 off of eBay for ~$50 and will give swapping them a shot.
