G935T no signal - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

Hi all,
I've got an SURE that was not working properly with with signal bars showing a small x. I thought it was because the devices imei was blacklisted, so I replaced the motherboard. It has the same problem, I tried T-mobile support to no avail. Finally I replaced the antenna assembly on the top of the phone thinking it was causing the problem. Nothing seems to work. The SIM card is able to be read and gives me the number that's registered to it.
Would flashing another ROM work to correct it. I've tried factory resets as well. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts.
Thanks

my radio dying?

I've been experiencing a lot of radio issues lately. It'll work fine for a day or two, then show no signal and an 'x' in the data icon for a day or so, then suddenly start working. It's not affected by a reset.
i've flashed 4 different radios on it, and they all behave the same. i also have a Tilt and it maintains a connection while the 8525 does not.
could the antenna be loose inside? do you think the radio is going out?
Same problem here any progress? It do not have signal, then have signal...
same problem for me... please someone help us :-(
christmas is coming
Try flashing 1.48.00
Same problem here for about a month. Odd.
tighten sim card holder
I spent weeks reinstalling radios and roms and almost $100 trying to fix this problem. I finally tightened the sim card holder and it fixed all my "no GSM" and spotty coverage issues. The sim card is held in by two tin brackets. I bent them down a bit so the card was held in more secure and all my problems were gone! I really thought it was a software problem. It really still doesn't make sense because I had the problem with or without a sim card in it. But, who cares, now it works! God is good!
I saw this thread and its the same problem i was having, read through it and saw the post about bending the sim card holders down a bit and it actually worked, thanks for the idea
Hi I did the same thing. It worked for a while but started again. After opening the phone a hundred times, flashing a hundreds radios etc what i did and worked was clean the sim card with an eraser. Trust me, u will not get no gsn again and always give u a signal.
I have similar symptoms, although the major difference is that the device crashes and does a hard reset by itself.
Still, I'll try bending the SIM holders; there's nothing to loose at that stage...

Nexus 4 - No Service

Hi all,
I got a Nexus 4 from Ebay. Cellphone is in flawless condition, it probably has less than a couple of months of use. Unfortunately, I am not able to pick up a signal in any way. I just get a constant "No Service" message, and occasionally it will jump to "Emergency Calls Only".
Testing menu says Signal Strenght is 0 dBm 99 asu, no neighboring cells and location is unknown.
I've tried changing the prefered network to WCDMA only (as suggested in other threads), also tried with the other available settings with no luck. Tried playing around with the Change Bands setting as well but it makes no difference
Tried with a few different sim cards as well but that didn't work either, just got signal momentarily and but it would go on and off.
Cellphone came with 4.2.2 and I upgraded to 4.3 as requested by the system. Same issue.
Tried basebands 48 and 84.
Tried CM 10.2.
Replaced SIM card with a brand new one.
Cellphone doesn't appear to be blacklisted either.
Not sure what to do next. I'll try to get in contact with the seller but I don't expect much from him or eBay. Maybe I can sell off the device very cheap for spare parts, or send it for repair somewhere? Leave it as a dev device (which would virtually indistinguishable from a N5 that I plan to get anyway), Anyone else has any other suggestions or ideas?
Try to install a factory stock image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
If you pay with PayPal you get buyer protection so you can try to get your money back.
Could be a hardware or antenna issue.
To me it seems like its been blocked for certain reasons. Either it was reported stolen or the person who sold it to you didn't pay his/her bill for which the carrier blocked it. In that case you can't do much about it.
I would contact the seller right away. If you get no response contact paypal and eBay.

This problem is occurring for a lot of Nexus 4 users, including me. Its some sort of pandemic. Here’s what you can do to atleast restore service to your phone : flash the factory 4.3 image to your phone, again. However, try flashing a radio that is 54 or older with it. Make sure you wipe the cache and flash all the partitions, system, boot, bootloader and the old radio. This will bring back service to your phone (did for me), however you will be left with no in call audio and your phone wont connect to the internet through the mobile network, only wifi. After doing this, you will see your baseband and IMEI in the phone.
You can use this as some sort of “test” to verify if your phone really isn’t stolen. What is the ultimate resolution to this problem ? I really don’t know yet. I’ve been breaking my head over this for the past 4 days now. Maybe I’m going to try out the unbrick method mentioned over here to see if that helps.
As an update I am getting intermittent signal in some areas, but it's really spotty and only lasts a little while : (
I'll be giving different basebands a try tomorrow but I don't think it'll help much. I'll also try the full factory flash posted above.
Same problem here, had the phone for about 2-3 months, bought it off Kijiji, I tried flashing 4.2.2, went back to 4.3, flashed every baseband and still no success. The SIM works perfectly in another N4, tried a few other sim in mine and still the same results. Any other ways somebody got this fixed ?

I'm talking to the seller, see if the phone is still under warranty. My other options would be to change the antenna myself (see if it works), or resell it at loss for spare parts, or wait to see what eBay says.
Just to give you guys some hope, that this is not just a problem faced by second hand phones - My phone is bought directly from the Play store - I contacted Google service a few days back and they asked me to return the phone for a replacement. Only problem is I have to ship this back to the US (where I purchased from), since they dont provide replacement service outside the country of purchase. I'm in India now.
I've tried absolutely everything myself. Flashed many many radios, 4.3, 4.2.2, I'm only able to get it to the point where there is network coverage, I can make and receive calls but there is no in call audio, nor is there any mobile internet connectivity (Only through wifi).
Something tells me this is a problem with the latest OTA update that caused this issue - I was completely stock and everything was working properly, when this problem appeared one fine day - It started with me not able to connect to the mobile internet network for a few days, and then one fine morning, BAM. No service. It was only after this that I started flashing and re-installing stuff on my phone, desperately trying everything to get the phone back to normal again.
I think the last OTA update somehow "bricked" the radio (dont know if something like this is possible, just a noob guess). My only hope is the 4.4 update has some fix for this, else I'm going to try the unbrick method mentioned on these forums to see if that works. Only then will I take the pain to send this back to the US.
What's the unbrick method you are planning to follow?
I was considering using the unbrick method listed here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2347060
Although I'm not completely sure it will work. Do you or anyone else have any suggestions for this ? I'm hoping 4.4 gets released ASAP, I'll download and root that as quickly as I can, hopefully Google has some resolution to this stupid problem
i have exactly the same problem
i have exactly the same problem. i bought my phone at US from Google play.
the phone worked fine for two month and then i got - No Service, and its swipe in a sec to emergency call only.
i try to replaced some sim cards, and factory reset with no success.
i also read a bug report that opened in Google : 58317
they told that there is a problem with the radio interface and radio driver at the 4.3 update, and they will fix it in 4.4 kitkat version.
i hope that 4.4 will fix this terrible problem, if not the phone is totally a door blocker..
Did anyone ever find a solution for this issue?
My friend has this problem with his Nexus 4.
I've searched A LOT and to this day (half a year later) haven't been able to find someone who reports this problem was solved.
I've also tried every suggestion I could find: flashed every stock image available, tried every combination of stock/custom ROM/recovery/radio, even tried the unbrick method mentioned above.
Nothing helps. I always get the same symptoms:
- Radios 54 and below - no in call audio.
- Radios 83 and above - Baseband unknown, IMEI / IMEI SV unknown, no cellular reception.
Also, RMA is not an option because the people at the store (a) don't know how to fix it and (b) claim the warranty doesn't cover this issue so they won't replace the device.
Any suggestions? I'm willing to try anything...
Maybe its a simple hardware failure like a loosely connected antenna? It doesn't really seem to be connected to any specific software setup
Something that happens to me rarely: when I'm in an area with very low/no reception sometimes the phone won't reconnect itself again and just stay on no reception until I reboot. Only happens like one or two times a month though.

Thanks, but I really don't think it could be an antenna issue.
I can see how a malfunctioning antenna could cause cellular reception problems, but it shouldn't affect IMEI or Baseband version readings. Those things have nothing to do with the antenna.
Also, the fact that the symptoms change with different radio firmwares says there's a big chance this is a software issue after all.
I just can't figure out what the cause is and how to eliminate it.
Flash any full factory image. If the problem persists after you can be pretty sure it's hardware. No signal for most of the time and occasionally picking it up could be something as simple as the antenna being unplugged, which can sometimes happen after a drop, or a forgetful repair.

Could be a broken or badly connected antenna. They are very fragile. Have a look at how to replace the antenna maybe?

I've opened up lots of my old phones (not my nexus 4 yet) and its normally easy to find and change as it's separate from the motherboard and looks basically like a piece of plastic!

I have the same problem no connection but the phone recognize the sim and the number of the phone. I've tryed to return to stock using a factory firmware but I'm not able to fix the problem... (this morning is working fine and my phone never fell down or something like that)
If I open btw the case and try to remove and reinsert correctly the antenna the phone will recognize the signal?

[SOLVED ]Nexus 6P - No service message

Hi all!
I've bought a Nexus 6P in september 2016, worked fine in every part until yesterday: my phone stopped showing signal strenght and says "No service" in the upper left corner of the screen.
I was on a custom ROM (Pure Nexus) but:
- Restoring factory images didn't help
- Restoring the oldest Marshmallow factory image didn't help either
- Erasing cache didn't help
- Switching to 2G and 4G didn't help
- I did a network settings reset, nothing changed
- I've switched to a new SIM card, nothing happened (old SIM card worked well on other phones, like this new one)
- I've never touched EFS partition but my IMEI is still there, so i don't think it's a network problem
So... Any ideas?
Oh man... I was hoping it was just me. This has happened to me too within the past few days, twice.
After waiting a few minutes it came back. It *May* be they are doing tower work. That's what I'm hoping.
I am on Verizon Wireless on the 3.79 radio if that helps add info to the pile. What radio are you on?

I'm on the same radio, latest radio in latest 7.1.1 release, january security patch, as i said before, installing the oldest Marshmallow release (so the first radio released by Google) didn't change anything!
My provider is Vodafone IT, I don't think they are doing some tower work, because everything works fine on other phones and the same SIM card in!
Good day,
Got same issue few days ago, after phone restarted due to installing January security patch. Phone was not rooted on stock firmware 7.1.1 with locked bootloader.
Cellular network don't work at all, if try to find network manually it return: Error while searching network.
In *#*#4636#*#* all switches in OFF position and cannot switch on. IMEI available.
Also when try to make a call(without network of course) it return: Turn off airplane mode to make a call. Of course it not turned on.
I try flash vendor, bootloader, baseband/radio(3.72, 3.78) previous stock firmware 6.0 and 7.0.
When flash cyanogenmod 14.1, SIM card was not detected.
Carrier Elisa (Estonia), bought in November.
Any ideas?
If you're not on Verizon, I would just switch back to 3.78 radio. Flash it manually. Don't see how that wont fix your issue

Hi mate, a friend of mine have a Nexus 6P, we are on the same carrier and the same 3.79 radio, everything works fine on his phone!
So my problem is not radio realated!
Radio 3.79 is also good for other carriers over Verizon.

Hardware problem with Huawei. The gold contacts on your SIM card are not making contact as they should. Likely a problem with the SIM tray.
Eject SIM card and put some scotch (cello) tape over the card to hold it in the plastic tray. You may need two strips (I did.) Now reinsert the SIM tray. All should be well now with your cellular connection.
Added thickness of the tape holds the SIM contacts to the connectors inside the phone tighter when the tray is closed and the problem is solved.
I did this about three months ago when I started having this problem and have been fine since.

If you buy from EBay your only warranty option is Square Trade but if your phone was bad when you got it you can file a buyer protection claim

I know you tried an old SIM, but have you been up to Vodafone to get a new replacement SIM as the next step? In my experience they are happy to replace at no charge. If Vodafone IT's new SIM doesn't work, just try a 3 ITA or TIM.
had this issue ONCE, and flashing the proper vendor file again fixed it.
no idea how or why

Thanks but I've already re-flashed factory image, so vendor is built in the restore procedure!
So I had an interesting experience with the same thing. Was running a custom rom that is very close to stock and updated to the most recent security update. Shortly thereafter, my carrier connection would drop (didn't notice at first because if I was connected to WiFi, it would be hard to tell). Only a reboot of the phone would fix it, for often no more than an hour or 2. So I started by wiping the device. Then I went to a different custom rom. And then finally, I went back to stock using "flash-all.bat" from the factory image. But alas, the issue continued. The last thing I did, which seems to have resolved it so far (12+ hours without a disconnection), was to relock my bootloader. Just in case it helps someone else. Is it possible that the new radio + an unlocked bootloader is causing the issue?
locked and unlocked bootloader,
hard factory reset,
flash google factory image and erase all internal storage,
wiped dalvic/cache,
flash vendor image,
flash different radio and bootloaders,
but still no service and no data. i think it's hardware issue and i have no warranty

[1572] No network signal (IMEI is showing)

So, I bought this second-hand MXS just yesterday, and it had digitizer issues the previous owner claimed to have started after the Nougat update. I did some research and found it was a possible cause, among some others (not counting actual damage to the digitizer). Tried flashing a few stock firmares and, apart from not solving the digitizer issue (which I'll be replacing soon), now I don't get any signal on either SIM card slots. OS recognizes both SIM cards, their operators and so on, *#06# shows IMEI, but I don't get signal at all. I can even perform an operator search and sometimes get results (sometimes I get a "error while searching for networks" message), but I never get to register in the network. It shows "can't connect to this network right now, try again later", right now I'm using 2 SIM cards and one of them is from the only operator showing when searching works.
Right now I'm on antariksh's RRemix, my device is a dual SIM XT1572. Last flashed modem is from XT1572_CLARK_RETLA_DS_7.0_NPHS25.200-15-8_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml, and modem files show all right in my /etc/firmware folder.
Any help is hugely appreciated, even if you guys have modem files just lying around your HDDs and are willing to upload them so I can give a shot. Thanks in advance.
Did you get your issue solved?
I'm also facing same issue... if you got some fix, then kindly let me know. Thanks

Unfortunately I'll be of no help, since I sold the device a few days later to someone who bought it for replacement parts.
What I can update you in is that the device, after several modem-only flashes (via fastboot), sometimes got signal for a brief time, then went to no signal again. Since it happened the day before I sold it, I wasn't able to dig further into the issue, but I recommend you let the phone "settle" for some time to see if it starts getting signal more frequently. At least I can tell you it probably isn't a hardware issue, but I found no permanent solution. I also don't remember which modem firmware it ended up with, but I do recall that the "signal shows up sometimes" happened in more than one firmware.

SOLVED: OP6T no network (Coaxial connectors)

Its rare that i have an issue i cannot solve on my own, but this one has me stumped. last friday, i took the newest update on my OP6t 8/256 to 10.3.10 (unlocked, bought from OP directly). After the update, i lost cell service.and signal. i am bootloader unlocked, and eventually ended up using msm tool, which did not resolve my issues, despite wiping and relocking my device.
now, i am back on 10.3.10 and i only have some service when i am on wifi. i have cleared network settings and also manually added Tmob which errors out. i have tested the sim in my old Axon 7, and it works perfectly. also, the settings menu appears to show another update still, but it is not clickable. anyone have an idea? Thank you in advance for any help!
On that last screen where it shows your MAC address does your phone still have a IMEI ? (Don't post it, just it should have a number, yes or no?)

It still has both of them. (Dual sim). I have an axon 7 that lost it's EFS partition, so of course that was one of the first things I looked at. Having had that happen before, that was one of the first things I backed up when I got my fajita in 2018.
well, even a new sim card did not fix whatever has gone awry....
update: i took it apart, and pulled the shield over the board. tapped around. put sim in, it didnt work. rebooted with the sim still in and it worked almost all day. set it down on my desk, network disappeared again. pressed on the back just below and to the left of the camera hump, and it came back. worked for 5 min before stopping again. picked up a op9. but i will attempt to fix it later down the road. im guessing either the antennae is loose (checked all coax to ensure they were seated) or one of the multitude of drops, albeit in a good case, broke something beyond repair.
Update: after ordering a new sim reader and evaluating the phone some more, I realized the signal antennae was on the verge of breaking. Moving it with a nylon spudger finished the job.
Update 2, replaced snapped off gray coaxial and still had no network. Realized the other coaxial connector had popped loose and felt like it was seating, but it waant. So issue resolved not at all the software. It was the other coaxial connector. It felt like it was seating, but was not. Fixed and working well now. Woot. Thank you anyone who helped!!
