Hello, this is my first thread so I apologize in advance if something is wrong.
I will let you know what I have done so far, and why I have done it.
I have a G930A Samsung Galaxy S7 (AT&T version), I already permanently unlocked the phone by code provided by AT&T, here is the thing the phone has the radio off , so even if I place a SIM card, the phone won't have any signal, once I restarted the phone and it worked out of the blue, then again after it ran out of battery the problem came back, then I went from AT&T ROM to G930U ROM through tutorial on this forum, then I rooted it (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/root-sm-g930u-tinysu-t3667800) now that root is working just fine, I downloaded build.prop, then modified the option: ro.radio.noril from no to yes, and after I reboot, the radio will turn on, but when doing so, I have no longer any network option, it won't show IMEI or Baseband, not 00000 nor unknown, it just won't show, if I revert changes, IMEI and Baseband will show again, but again no radio so no network signal.
I am a complete white page when it comes to android knowledge, if anyone could help me out to figure out a way to turn the radio on, and keep IMEI and Baseband information, I would really really appreciate the help.
Thank you so much in advance to everyone.

Sorry for the delayed answer, I am still stuck with no signal, just like you said, useless device that depends just on wifi, I haven't figured out what is causing the phone to not get any signal, IMEL/ESN is clean and phone is unlocked, no idea what's wrong.
If you have fixed it, please let me know about it.
By the way, I rooted the phone with this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/how-to/root-s7-att-g930a-g935a-t3410538, give it a try it was easier than I expected, and I gotta say I am pretty dumb with this stuff, good luck.

Hi guys,
I recently picked up a used S4 on Craigslist for cheap because the guy "screwed up" using Odin and flashed something that caused his phone to not register on any networks. I figured, what the hell, it's cheap enough and I might be able to restore it. So far I've restored the Rogers firmware over Odin and tried installing a custom rom/recovery too. I'm still getting this problem unfortunately. The IMEI reported with *#06# and in the status screen does match the sticker on the inside of the phone.
So I'm sure everyone's going to suggest that the phone was stolen and the IMEI has been blacklisted. My provider (Fido/Rogers) apparently doesn't care if the IMEI is blacklisted, they'll let it run anyway. I called up Fido anyway (since I'm a Fido customer) and asked them about the IMEI of this phone and they say they don't have any record of anyone calling in reporting it stolen and they don't have an IMEI database so she didn't have much to say about it.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I've also flashed just the kernel, and I will flash a modem onto it too. I know my SIM card works, and both my SIM card and the last owners SIM cards don't work. I know the radio works because it picks up the emergency signal fine, and the SIM tray isn't damaged because when I put in my Fido SIM the Fido APN's automatically come up, as well as the lock screen goes from "No SIM inserted" to "unregistered SIM." Could my EFS partition be borked? Wifi works and IMEI shows up correctly.
The buyer said he would take the phone back if I can't fix it, but I want to try a bit more before I give up. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, that would be great. Thanks a lot in advance XDA!
Summary:
-Used S4
-Owner flashed something wrong in Odin
-Gets "Not registered to network" error, unregistered SIM error
-Tried restoring
-Tried new ROM/Recovery
-Carrier says IMEI is fine, also tried directly registering the IMEI to my account
-IMEI is correct in settings/sticker on back of phone
-Wifi/everything else all works
Sounds like it's SIM locked to a different network. Try the the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285431

My girlfriend has a Bell sim, which when we insert, gives us the "Please enter unlock code" screen.
My sim does not do that. I know this device is for my carrier, but I figure the easiest way to get this going is to just unlock it and see if the problem persists on other networks.
I've tried that unlock tutorial before. The first time I tried it, when I just got the phone from the previous owner, it said "Golden-backup does not exist" so I couldn't do the restore step of that guide. After Odin-flashing everything and starting over, I can't even get into the UMTS menu anymore! I'll try another restore and give it another go though.
Edit: Another problem. I did a restore again using Odin and notices that it never properly wipes the phone. When I finish flashing, my Wifi still autoconnects on first boot, and every few seconds, a process crashes causing the phone to freeze. Has anyone heard of this kind of problem before?
Quick update:
Managed to Odin-flash it to the earliest firmware I could find for the phone without any crashing or freezing problems. Trying to do the network unlock method mentioned online. It does not work, even though I'm following the instructions to a T. Could it be that my EFS partition is borked and that the NV rebuild can't happen, meaning my radio configuration would also be borked?
Edit: Oh and when I booted up my phone for the first time, the phone was actually ON Fido! But within a few seconds, it went back to "Emergency calls only."
Hmm, that is some odd behavior, and definitely not a carrier lock. Shame it's never that simple to fix.
Not quite the same as your issue, but I lost my ability to make and receive calls after flashing a newer modem on an AOSP firmware. Flashing custom kernels, older modems, the latest stock rom and kernel were no help at all. I tried everything I could think of short of groveling. In the end the only way I got everything working again was to flash the original factory firmware my phone shipped with, factory wipe it from stock recovery, then flash it again. If you've already tried that (and I'm guessing you have), consider contacting Samsung regarding warranty. They've been really good to me in the past, even with second-hand phones.
I can confirm that Odin doesn't clean everything out. In my trials I also noticed that flashing via ODIN without a factory reset presented no setup wizard, caused lots of FC's and left some previous files hanging around.
Sounds like a bad sim tray.

I had trouble with my handset after it got run over in the street, making it's otterbox earn it's money. The only bad symptom after that episode was Emergency calls only kept recurring.
I cut a tiny square of transparent scotch tape, avoided touching the sticky side, and placed it squarely on the SIM chip's backside, to make it fit the sim slot more snugly. It sounds like you should try stacking two or three layers on your chip as it sounds to be more loose than mine is.
Hi everybody! Thanks for all the help trying to fix it! It ended up being that the guys the previous owner had unlock it used the debug-menu unlock method and my phone was one of the ones that doesn't accept it. Lots of other people complained about similar problems as me in the free unlock method thread. In the end, I paid for the FastGSM USB Unlock method and it fixed the problem.
OH MY GOSH YOU JUST SAVED ME from buying another phone!! THANKS so much.. I added 3 layers of tape on the back of my sim and it works!!! weird.. cause I have the Dual Sim.. and it was the first sim that would not work. the second sim was fine.. anyways.. THANKS SO MUCH!!
Hey guys. I would love some help here; recently I had my Nexus 4 lost, and found again. I called Virgin (My phone company) and cut my phone service off. Once I found it, I called and turned it back on. For about an hour it kept saying that the network could not be found, and when I tried to force it to connect in the settings, it said my sim card couldn't be used on the network. I did factory reset from the menu, but it only got worse. It than wouldn't even recognize I had a sim card. I looked online about IMEI and typed in #*06#* or whatever it was, and there was nothing there. Completely blank. I have no idea what to do, and am currently trying to flash stock rom. If it helps, I was running Paranoid Android 3.99 RC2 when I turned my phone service off. Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks.
*EDIT*: I restored to Android 4.4 using the factory image provided by Google, and I now have a IMEI number, but it still wont allow me to connect to the network.
*EDIT 2*: After doing some research on the Virgin site, I found out that there was a blacklist that your phones IMEI goes on after reporting it stolen. Basically, when I called in to get it off of it, it was never taken off. Those ****ers said it was going to cost me $150. This thread can be kept for future reference to other people, or deleted if needed. Thanks.

Thanks for the info, but I now have a IMEI number when I flashed Google's stock 4.4 image, but it still says it cant connect to the network. Any ideas?
Just restore any CWM or TWRP backup. It worked for me after i lost my imei and basband while flashing 4.4.
Nothing to do about a blacklist. Ask them again and explain the situation. Contact a consumer rights organization otherwise.

Hi Again Guys,
My phone recently wasn't getting any signal when i flashed to the ROM 4.4.2. So people said to flash back to the stock rom, i have now done that and the WiFi stopped working. I can't even download a ROM manager to try and load another ROM.
I think i've really messed up my phone. I want to wipe everything completely and start from new, then re try flashing to the latest ROM 4.4.2 so i can get my WiFi and Mobile Data working again. I can't get calls without it having a black screen / no sound. My phone keeps turning off every so often.
I think i've missed matched wrong Modems and Baseband Versions?
What information do you need exactly from my phone to give you to try and help? Really need my phone working for work purposes. I will give a donation to a person that helps me fix it completely. (paypa)
Thanks guys.
I was reading ur latest posts and the solution is: HERE

Hello,
I've noticed something strange this past month. I was getting data disconnections and I could'nt figure out why. Each time I look at my phone, turning the screen on, mobile network (voice + data) is missing for a few seconds, and comes back.
Now I know that if I keep the screen on for a while (I tried more thant 1 hour), I don't loose the network, but if let the screen go to sleep I immediately loose the network (I don't receive whatsapp messages in background), and when I turn the screen on, it comes back.
Weirdly, when my phone could reach 4G, I had (almost) no disconnection. It only happens in a 3G, edge, or nodata zone.
I changed my carrier (I just moved from europe to New Zealand), and it doen't change the problem.
I'm using CM11-Nightly (sept) on a I9505. I tried installing an old nightly(from july), and it was really full of error messages, so I switched back to a recent nightly, but in the meantime I had no disconnection.
Thank you for your help

I don't know exactly where this option is, but it's for battery saving. You can choose that somewhere in your settings I think
I think that's true for Wi-Fi, but I never found it for network.
And now it seems that network won't come back if I don't go to airplane mode and back to normal mode.
I'm having the same problem, seems to mostly affect lollipop installs.
Did you find a solution?

No I didn't. It seems that somewhere in july 2014, CM11 included a new version of the modem. So every CM11 build after that and every CM12 build is affected (I don't know about other roms).
I read that it was the way the modem handled finding the best network method. With the previous modem (v5 ?) it tried to get LTE, 3G, etc... but now it fails when it fails to get the prefered network.
4 solutions:
- flash the modem (didn't try it, don't know how)
- You're supposed to be able to choose you're prefered network in the options and choose 2G/edge. Didn't work for me but I'm interested in your feedback.
- get an old version of CM11
- live with it (my current option :'( )
There is maybe another solution, I'm not an expert, just a desperate user.
Hey again, I did fix it for myself.
The modem is the problem (I flashed my modem, and my bootloader just to be re-up-to-date).
If you want to get lollipop for yourself you should do it, its not too hard
Its listed as Qustion 14 on this here page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419762
I don't mind trying to give some pointers if you need help understanding how to do it, but I did this at 5am while sick so my memory of what I did is not 100%, never the less I would like to help if you need it.
Thank you for the advice (you came seeking for one, and ended up helping me ).
How did you choose which modem version to pick up ? the latest ? Do you have to do it after every CM upgrade ?
Edit:
I found the latest version from one of your links : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50965837#post50965837
Is the "Combined package - both modems in one flashable file." ok ?
And what does flashing the bootloader do ?
"What it does"... I am not 100%, I assume it initialize some part of the system, HW or kernel level, but I might be way off.
In any case I did use the dual modem pack to flash both "PHONE" and "PDA", another thread I asked in just replied to another user with the neccessity to flash the new bootloader aswell (dont know if the version numbers applies for you):
u must be using a 4.4.2 baseband and bootloader .. just a 4.4.2 baseband will not work .. once updated ur set

My question is on this page a bit down, and some replies a bit further down than that:

Tip: I had to save the PIT to a file (did it twice to be sure) with heimdall before using odin to flash (couldn't get heimdall to work for that part), all because odin would not play nice inbetween loading the PIT from device and flashing, this might not be a problem for you at all so it's just an FYI.
I managed to flash the modem & the bootloader. So far, no disconnection, so I'm quite happy.
Cheers
Hello
I owned/own a GT-i9505 which had recently gotten a board failure. The device would constantly turn off, and hitting it used to temporarily fix it, but it ended up getting so bad the phone wouldn't work at all. In response to this, I pulled a old smashed S4 out of my draw, and assumed it was also an i9505 (The board on this one says i9505 too), and replaced my old board with it. Upon booting, I discovered it was actually an i9507, a variant with what I assume only more advanced LTE capabilities. I thought this was cool, but upon the phone starting, I have no service. This is on official Optus firmware with nothing changed at this point. My services sometimes changes from the cross to the empty signal indicator. I've now tried installing CM13 on it to see whether maybe it was a rom specific thing, but alas I have no service still.
Any help would be appreciated

Is the phone running the latest stock rom? Imei is properly displayed from the dialler? What is the model number in download mode?
I am currently downloading the latest stock rom, but it was running stock kitkat before I flashed CM13. The IMEI correctly displays
Edit out your imei, It's not a good idea to post your imei anywhere on the Internet.
Let us know if the stock ROM solves the issue.
