Hi Folks, I flashed stock other experiencing signal issues with custom ROMs. But GPS doesn't seems to work now. We use to get 'Agreement' on selecting High accuracy/battery saver mode right. But I'm not even getting that. On reboot GPS mode will change to device only.
Any help? I don't want to format again as I just completed setting up device and apps.
Thank you!
Hari.
I'm not having any issues with GPS.
High accuracy in use since day 1.
Accuracy is more than acceptable regardless of if walking, car or train.
100% untouched stock with latest OTA.

This is pretty common when going back to stock from custom roms. Try to root the phone and install GPS Optimizer/Fixer.
Always make a backup before flashing things.

Thanks for the response. However, any way without root? I read like clear google data like services/framework fix the issue. But unsure of same. Can anyone confirm?

So I have a question about the GPS on the G2. I installed cyanogenmod immediately after opening my G2. I did not realize you needed to get a GPS lock with the stock ROM first, so my GPS has not worked since I've had the phone. From what I can find the only fix I see is to roll back to stock, get a lock, and then restore my current ROM.
I currently have the latest CM11 nightly and the latest clockwork mod recovery. I don't mind backing up my current install, flashing another ROM, getting a GPS lock and then restoring, but I can't seem to find an easy way to do this. I don't see a stock ROM that I can just flash in recovery, which i'd really like to do if possible since I'm not going to keep the stock ROM for more than a couple of minutes. Some have recommended cleanrom 1.0, which I tried but after wiping data and cache only resulted in a black screen and wouldn't actually boot.
So does anyone know if there is an easy fix for the GPS that I haven't found when you have never had a lock on a stock ROM, and if not, is there a simple ROM I could flash to get this fixed up quick? Thanks for any help

I never heard of something like this. Can you please show me where you found this info? (for me this looks like a busted GPS, or Cyanogenmod GPS problem, have your checked their thread for help and info?)
Sorry that I won't help you much. But I am really interested in that part that you need to get a lock first with a stock rom.
Btw for ppl to help you with ROM's you could also share your exact device variant.
Also not sure what you mean by cleanrom being stock? Everything that is other as the KDZ files or OTA from LG are not stock. There are guides how to go to stock. But flashing something in recovery classifies as going custom. Are you sure that would fix your GPS problem?

Hi All,
I just got a new used Samsung Galaxy S4 on Sprint and brought it over to Ting (way, way, way cheaper). I got everything working with the stock ROM, including GPS, but I wanted to install Cyanogenmod, so I rooted it, flashed TWRP 7.8, and flashed the latest Cyanogenmod (snapshot M12), with Gapps, and a zip file with the Ting data XML files to get 3G and LTE working.
Everything seemed to work great, but then while driving I noticed that the GPS just did not get a lock. After trying for an hour, it still had nothing. I installed GPS Status and saw that it had no satellites. Clearing the GPS cache and re-downloading data with that app did not solve the problem. I tried GPS Doctor without success and the GPS fix equally without success.
I rebooted, then factory reset, then erased everything and flashed the latest CM nightly, all with no success.
I found some similar problems online at these places:
http://myblog-online.co.uk/2013/12/the-continuing-saga-of-my-galaxy-s4-custom-roms/
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/98811-gps-not-working-23rd-nightly/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172670
These are all old and none gave me anything that useful. Is it a GPS radio issue? Is there anything I can do?
I also just found this page: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Known_Issues_page_for_d2lte, but it is for the S3, not sure what to make of it.
I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom, but then I copied it to my computer, and when I copied it back again it didn't work. TWRP failed to restore with the error "No partition selected for restore".
My plan now is to flash the stock rom with odin, confirm that GPS works there, and then try again, but this is becoming a huge time sink and I have a lot of other things to do.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? I am pretty sure it isn't a hardware issue.

That's is pretty much what you have to do. Its go back to stock and get a lock there in maps. When you have a lock just go back to recovery and flash your custom ROM of choice. That is pretty much the only fix.

Thanks ROMANTiC KiD,
Good to know that I am heading down the right path before I spend a lot of time on this.
Should I not erase everything when I flash the custom ROM? I am pretty sure last time I used TWRP advanced erase to clear everything on the phone before installing. Should I just do a regular factory reset in TWRP to install CM in order to keep GPS functionality?
Thanks!

Yes sir you can factory reset in twrp just remember to back up your files first! And you should still retain GPS lock.

Thanks for the confirmation. I did exactly that and I can confirm that it did indeed work.
Thanks so much for the help.
Hi all,
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I am having this issue and the stock firmware flash isn't solving the issue. It is all very odd because it doesn't actually retain any kind of lock after flashing. I'm following instruction on here, but after locking gps on stock, then going to CM I cannot get a fix. It either had a massive radius on Maps, or it just locks to my home or work location.
Since trying much more I have managed to get the occasional satellite lock via GPS Locker, but even then as soon as I move from either my house or work, it can't find anything to lock onto and just defaults to a static location.
Is there anything you would recommend? I have 2 Samsung GS4's and they both exhibit the same problem. I have also tried this on an S4 Mini, but that retained lock just fine. I'm really confused as to what to actually try. If you could recommend anything I'd be very grateful.
Again, I'm sorry to res an old thread, but no one has been replying to the one I started for this issue :/
Your problem may be that there is some new issue with the newer firmware. I had success by first flashing the *old* firmware (you can download it from my dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o3f3ynyezyy4yw9/L720VPUFNAE_L720SPTFNAE_L720VPUFNAE_HOME.tar.md5?dl=0) and then upgrading to the second to last firmware update for the GS4: which gives you Android 5 but without fixing the MMS bug.
After that I flash TWRP with Odin, and then do a full erase in TWRP followed by flashing the latest CM. That series of steps works for me every time, although I found that large changes to my physical location (e.g. flying to England from California) cause it to break again. I actually had to sit in a cafe in an English airport with my laptop out flashing my phone back to stock just so that I could use Google maps to get to my mother's house. It was pretty ridiculous. Because of that and other issues, I now just use stock. I hate it, but I do it anyway. Good luck.
Hi all,
I still use my old defy sometimes as a gps when I'm out and about. I'm running the official stable cm7.2 build. It has no sim card so I just connect to wifi at home to update apps etc. I find that after a couple of months wifi stops working properly. It's still connected but no traffic comes in or out. Happens on all wifi networks. I've found the only way to fix it is to wipe and reflash Cm. Then it's fine again for a few more months. Any ideas? It's a bit of a pain to have to set it up each time.
Are there any other roms that perform well, good battery life etc but are also very stable?
Thanks a lot
It looks like disabling wifi-n by editing the tiwlan.ini has solved the problem for now. But I'll wait and see if the issue happens again. The process is simple and described here: http://chromloop.com/2011/09/how-to...roblem-wifi-connected-but-no-internet-access/ The hardest part is probably making sure that you have read/write access to the files in question.
Note that I had to edit two files, tiwlan.ini and tiwlan_ap.ini (as someone mentioned in the comments of the above link) to get wifi working properly.

may i suggest you do a nandroid backup after you reflash your rom. then the next time it plays up again you just have to do a recovery instead of re-flashing and re-setup your gps again?
edit:especially now that you've edited your rom as in your second post.
Just as the title says, after flashing the bootstack, rom and gapps countless times, i still dont have auto rotate or auto brighness. all the sensors seem to be dead except for wifi, gps and mobile network. did anyone else experience this? how did you resolve it??? please help!!
I had the same problem after dirty flashing from 13.1. I did a factory reset and reflashed and all was well.

thanks for the reply. i did a clean flash. didnt work.
i flashed the boostack, rebooted back to recovery, flashed the rom and gapps, wiped cache and rebooted. it boots fine. but then i still dont have auto rotate. seems like the drivers werent installed or something
Obvious questions, but did you check the rotation settings inside the display menu? Also, is Adaptive brightness toggled on?

Check the md5 on your download to make sure it is not bad Install twrp 3.0.4.0 you could also move everything you want to keep to a sdcard so you can do a total wipe. Now install rom and gapps only and check to see how everything works before adding root or apps.

That's a drag. Thanks for the quick response though.
Hello, I also have an issue with the accelerometer (and by consequence the auto rotate function).
I am on full stock Nougat B09 (no root) and the issue was also present on B06.
Rebooting the device solve the issue, and factory reset does not make this bug disappear.
That being said, I think I located the root cause.
The magnetometer seems to be never working, even after a reboot. When an app wants to use the magnetometer (like Google map, or the compass), it make the accelerometer crash....
Anyone else having this issue ?
Does you magnetometer works flawlessly ?
Thanks.
@arachneon,
Hi, you can change it in the tools---compass, and in that compass you can waggle the phone in the way of "8", if all that cannot fixed you can also seek help in the nearby ZTE after sales service repair center. Thanks!
I have asked in the specific threads, but I'm getting ignored.
I have tried the HTLE version, but my phone won't take that version. It shows error, that is not for my phone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

Just go to the regular Note 3 development section and grab the AryaMod Port S7Edge Port, and it works on the T-Mobile N900T as well. Most of the ROM's over there will work on this phone.
Or this https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-t3565746

Why don't you ask/look in the T Mobile forum ???
I haven't found any that allow for proper GPS locking. You can get location, but the satellites won't stay locked. Aside from that, I haven't been unable to install any of the Nougat or Note7 ports on my T-Mobile phone. Some aren't 100% stable though, and that goes for almost any device.
It's fun to play with them, I guess, but so far the only safe daily driver is the stock ROM, if you want full stability, battery life, GPS, 100% functional. Personally I can't wonder if my alarm will go off, or if the battery will randomly drain, and shoddy GPS is an issue since I'm not currently using a standalone GPS device. I don't know about you, but the possibility of my phone crashing or rebooting during a call, while navigating, or while relying on the alarm is just not worth the eye candy that you can get just by rooting and installing aftermarket tweaks.
I've run two of the Cyanogenmod 14.1 based roms, maybe more, and they all had those issues. Same thing with the Phronesis ROMs. All are unreliable for every day use.
So, in short, I don't there is a best Nougat ROM, because I can't see using any of them aside from dual booting into them here and there, out of boredom, and to check if things have improved.
Thanks for that. I was afraid of this, that they are not reliable. I guess, I will just have to wait, for the Note8 then.
Guys, if your problem is that your phone is seeing satellites but never actually locks, there's a fix for that. Grab the gps.conf from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-devs-fix-gps-users-ntp-to-localhost-t3531891
Move that gps.conf to /system/etc/ through whichever means you prefer (recovery, root file manager, whatever), set it to 0644 permissions (rw-r--r--), reboot and you should never have trouble getting a GPS lock again (until you flash another rom, then just do it again). Long story short, there's a stupid bug with most ROMs out there that they're trying to sync to the GPS satellites using data from a server over the internet instead of the (very accurate) internal clock, and since there's a delay over the internet it can't sync and never locks. That gps.conf fixes that issue.
I have ended up, installing this update and it seems like it's working great, except when I reboot it, it's going in reboot loop. The only way I can boot it up, if I remove the battery for a while.
I did not try gps, yet.
I'm using RR rom 7.1.1. It works great
Do you have, US T-Mobile phone? If yes, than from where did you get that rom?
