Hi!
I have a N9005 Note 3: TWRP custom recovery, rooted stock rom XXUFNG2.
I have a few questions:
- Can I flash a modem in a custom recovery and rooted device? Does the new modem installation affect the installed system?
- How can I flash a modem without changing the system?
- Where can I find the modem packages?
Thank you!
Hey guys,
After been searching for info about and not much luck, I still have some questions about flashing modems. I am running CM12.1 nightly from last Saturday and I want to flash the hybrid LTE modem.
1.- Any risks involved I should be aware when flashing modem?
1.- For flashing modems, do I need to wipe cache, system or reinstall the Rom at all (before or afterwards modem installation)?
2.- If I switch to stock modem or install a different one, do I need to do any wiping or reinstall at all?
3.- From the attached image of my phone info, can someone confirm which stock modem I have?
Thanks in advance.
1. Use a flashable zip from here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/ref-mako-modem-collection-t2087227. There are also instructions how to do it.
1. Just flash modem, no reinstall or cache wipe necessary.
2. Not in terms of modem
3. See thread link above. Seems to be a modem from Android 4.3

Because he is on CM12.1, I do not think the changes to the build.prop will stick, but the easiest way is to just run the .zip here with the latest hybrid, which is a cross of the .33 LTE modem, and the latest 1.07 5.1.1 modem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60885004&postcount=1707
Hello,
I recently I unlocked my Moto X Style XT1572 and I have tried 3 different roms, but non of them boot successfully, every rom is just showing boot-animation and won't boot successfully, I have tried crdroid, resurrectionremix, official LineageOS 14.1 and now in my computer device name is XT1575?? and after re installation of few roms, internal storage is wiped automatically, only twrp folder left, all rom zips gone . . . .
Also recently display is changed in service center, I have changed 3 diffrent twrp versions latest twrp had an issue of error status 7 then I changed twrp to twrp-3.0.2-0-clark, I tried to install rom without gapps, but no success, then I tried to install with gapps. . no success at all, just show's boot-animation all time. . . . evey time I flased roms, all time I wiped delvik/art, data, system, cache. . .
Got this error while installing crdroid rom mount: failed to mount /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modem at /firmware device or resources busy but rom install successfully but wont boot . . .
Anyone explain whats wrong with my XT1572??
You need to downgrade the baseband. From Nougat to MM.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/guide-flashing-stock-firmware-t3637235
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin (Flash twice, if Prevalidation Error)
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot flash bluetooth BTFM.bin

Yes.
There isn't custom for N baseband. @razor17
You should read some threads before.

I don't know why but they are since I remember - 1st stable custom N. Not only MXP/S has it.
And what if i dont want to take a risk of downgrading to MM is there any other way to do so and are there any roms available or will be available based on N baseband.......please let me know thanks.
This is the only one for right now.

I had that problem when going from stock 7.0 back to Lineage OS 14.1. The issue for me was that the new modem firmware in stock 7.0 stopped the Lineage OS install dead. It looped on the logo indefinitely. Even though Lineage OS is 7.1.2 the included modem firmware was still from marshmallow 6.0. No stock modem firmware is available to fix this yet without a stock flashable 7.0 image (not OTA). To reinstall Lineage OS I had to downgrade from stock 7.0 to stock 6.0 and then reflash Lineage OS 14.1 and OpenGApps.

Downgrading from Stock7.0 to Stock6.0 is dangerous as it becomes brick in the future.
Since Motorola does not support downgrading, bootloader will be corrupted after OTA upgrade from 6.0 to 7.0.

Although it only becomes a brick if you downgrade, then update to ota in the future right? I thought it wasn't dangerous if you were only going the custom ROM route

which one is for USA?
EDIT: I'm guessing I flashed the wrong one, because I cant get any service now.... CLARK_RETUS_6.0_MPHS24.49-18-8_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
Well, finally got Lineage official nighty to boot. Lots of issues though, when I reboot my battery will lose 30% each time, then when it gets to about 20ish percent the phone gets stuck on the bootloader is unlocked screen, holding the power button finally reboots it but then the phone says "no sim installed", I guess this is why I thought I had no service before. Something is real messed up.

You are correct. It only becomes a problem if you were to re-upgrade to 7 via the official OTA after downgrading stock to stock. I made a twrp backup of the official 7 release for the xt1575 so I will never need to go with an official update ever. You can flash custom roms from 6 to 7 and back again if you wish. This was the last official update anyway.

Hi! I have a rooted v20 (F800K, Korea model) running 10e firmware, and a 10i TOT file for it.
Is there any way to convert the 10i TOT file to a KDZ so that I can update the firmware via kdzwriter without losing root? If this is not possible, is there a way to use the 10i TOT file to update my current firmware?
There are tools to extract TOT files. Extract it, and then flash everything except aboot, and recovery.
You either need to mount system and remove / rename recovery-from-boot.p or you will lose TWRP if your phone boots before you can root it again (boot directly to TWRP after flashing and root).
If it does, then you still have full fastboot so you can flash it again. Alternatively, flash TWRP to both recovery and recoverybak and then you don't have to worry about it.

Thanks.
I have a system dump of 10z (latest ROM for this thing), and I have all sorts of partitions. Can I just flash boot, system, modem and other partitions, then re-flash magisk and custom kernel and be on the latest?
Hello everyone,
I flashed LineageOS 14.1 in July on a H910 v10m and had random kernel panics. I later tried to fix this by dirty flashing SuperV20 (different kernel), which didn't boot. Later I flashed stock v10q from .zip in TWRP. Now the phone is booting again, but the modem isn't working. Apparently the modem files are device specific according to what I read. I have a plan to fix this, but also a couple of questions regarding some points.
Flash the H915.kdz again in modded LGUP
Do DirtySanta again up to step 3
In TWRP flash the v10r files, at this step I guess, I also have to flash my device specifc modem. I backed up everything with LGUP beforehand. I guess, I have to flash modem_COM4 to the modem partition. What about the modemst_COM4 files? How do I apply them?
Test if it boots again with modem.
If it does, I'd try to flash a custom ROM again. I would prefer LineageOS but these kernel panics were really bad. Can I fix this with AnyKernel?
Please point me in the right direction with this, I don't want to f*ck it up again.

You need to flash modemst1 and 2 to modemst1 and 2. You also need to flash fsc and fsg to their respective partitions. The issue is that your EFS got corrupted.

Hello Brian,
I've restored EFS from a recovery I made in TWRP. I'm on stock v10m now and have signal but not mobile data for some reason. Do you have an idea why?
Did you check your APN?

I did, couldn't find any APNs. Had to write my provider a SMS and received the APN information! Thanks mate, you helped save my cell phone!
