Remove google apps - Nokia 5 Questions & Answers

Is there anyway of removing the Google apps, such as google music, books, news etc.
Gmail, and playstore can stay.
TIA

Found it. Open the applications setting, force stop and disable. This appears to remove the application from the system and take up a lot less space. (I gained an extra 1 GB of space!)

"Disk Full" without any obvious reasons?

Recently i have been getting messages that my phone's memory is getting at its limit.
Even though i deleted several apps, it still asks me to clean out more apps in order to function properly.
I read that the phone's internal storage (not counting a microSD card) is 500Mb which should be more than enough to house the apps i installed. so what would cause the phone to fill up with data?
the only "big" apps i have are Google Earth (22Mb) Docs to Go (8Mb) and Google Maps/Navigate (13Mb)
Also i had a strange moment where i recieved a SMS, and it showed the first few words of the message in my sense interface, like always, but when i tried to open it, it said something like: "cant open SMS, disk full, please remove stuff".
I had to remove about 3 apps before i was able to even open a stinking SMS, i mean WTF?
Even though the specs says that Desire have 512 MB ROM, only around 120 MB are available to the user. The rest of the ROM is used by the Android operating system etc.
The first thing I'd look at is internal browser's cache. If your free space is missing, clearing it may be a good idea. Check other apps that may be storing data, also.

[Q] How does Android decide what Apps to cache? (caches apps I never use)

Like the title says, I would like to know how android chooses what apps to hold in momory.
For example, right after startup, as many apps as will fit are cached. For example, Maps, Talk, Calendar, Youtube, Drive, Poweramp etc.
However, after some time and after I used some apps, most of them are not cached any longer, except for Maps, Youtube, Drive and some others. However, since RAM is small, there are huge lags for me just opening sms or contacts or phone or calendar, because they are not cached anymore at all. I never use Drive on my phone, but I use Talk all the time. It makes no sense for me to hold Drive in memory, but not Talk, that needs to reload for about 4 seconds each time. I would like it to keep phone, sms, contacts and co in memory with higher priority than youtube or drive, without locking them permanently, because that is not practical if I want to load a game or so.
Has anybody some information or links on what details Android chooses which apps to cache and which not? Or even how to change this behavior?
Thanks

First-Time Rooting: Backing up Data

I have been informed when you unlock the boatloader your device storage is wiped. I have no problem with files like pictures, video, etc. because I have all that kind of stuff backed up to the cloud, but I would LOVE to avoid having to reinstall every app, but more importantly signing in to them again and changing all the settings to my liking. Is there any app I can use pre-root to backup apps, app data, app settings, and transfer that to my device post-root? I am not sure how much this matters, but almost all my apps are from Google Play, and I don't want to have to install an .apk of an app that is separate from the Play Store when there is a version on the Play Store. Not sure if that made any sense, but TL;DR if it's on the Play Store, I wanna keep it that way.
Thanks!

Which system apps are safe to remove?

Hello, so I finally have got my phone rooted with Magisk, and now I'm just curious which system/LG/MetroPCS apps are safe to remove? Thanks...
If you are on stock, pretty much any app that has a market download alternative. Browser, calendar, email, lg maps, etc. If you use calendar, do not delete the Calendar Storage app. Every calendar app needs that to function. Don't delete any LG apps that don't have icons. Those are very much part of the LG system and will break one thing or another. Your best bet is to freeze any apps you want to delete and use the phone as you learn what they do that way if you suddenly start getting force close errors you can unfreeze them. Don't go crazy freezing them all. Start with a few, but for the most part those apps that have icons and have alternatives to replace them you can freeze/uninstall. Only way to restore any you accidentally erase will likely require reflashing stock rom because a simple factory reset won't recover them. I learned that hard way uninstalling calendar storage and some other apks that ended up crippling my system.

How can I delete apps/ cache on Huawei P Smart

I can't believe I have to ask this, having never had any issues with android phones before, but this fkin piece of garbage does not have a delete app/ clear data option!
Google Photos is taking up 16gb of my internal storage, so the phone is now full and cannot accept messages, take photos etc. It's unusable now because it's hoarding tons of data it doesn't need to store.
I want to clear all the data off Google Photos which should free up most of the 16gb of space. However when I find the app in my settings, there's simply no option to go into the app settings in order to clear the data, nor is there even the option to delete the app! When I find the 'photos' (Google Photos) app on the list of apps and click it it just doesn't react. This happens with every other app I click onto too.
When I go into storage settings, all I can do is look at the amount of storage my apps are consuming but it gives me no option to clear or uninstall the apps.
I've recorded a video here to show the screens I get. Why can't I delete or clear data in any apps! Why have they made this phone so infuriating to use!
