Question Re: Lineageos on Samsung Galaxy S9 - LineageOS News & Discussion

I'm looking into purchasing an S9 and would like to garner the community's views on the stability of Lineageos (starlte) running on the S9.
Some things I'd like to know are:
Are there any stability issues?
Are there any major features missing on starlte? calling, bluetooth etc
Presumbly the Samsung pay h/w option will be disabled once rooted - correct?
Any other issues should I need to know?

I don't have this device but, if your question is specifically LineageOS on the S9 then your best bet is to post this question within the following Official LineageOS thread for the S9.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3781656
If your question is regarding the device itself, then your best bet is to post this question within one of the following threads that's specific to device suggestions.

Android Auto with rooted SGS5

Hi, I just bought a new car which supports android auto. I want to put my old S5 with broken display permantly connected in the car. For some automation issues I want to use tasker and have to root the phone to fully realize my plans. Has someone experiences whether or not android auto works with a rooted sgs5? The unrooted SGS5 works fine in my case. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I've posted my question there and meanwhile I can give the following update which might be useful for others:
I've rooted the phone using CF-Auto-Root and android auto still works fine in my car via USB-cable-connection. SGS5 SM-G900F (International Qualcomm) with stock ROM (android 6.0.1).

I don't have this variant but, your best bet is to post this question within that thread for developer or member guidance with your issue.
Typically support is offered by developers via the development thread or, in some cases, a separate Q&A thread that's specific for that development.
If a Q&A thread existed, most of the time, it's announced on the OP or the following post #2 of said development thread.

Fingerprint doesn't work on S8/ Note 8 ROMs. This includes all ROMs based on the new Samsung Experience firmware. You can however download the "hi locker" app to replace the lock screen and then fp will work (at least on some of the ROMs). I haven't tried it though as i like my stock lock screen. Guess that's the price we pay for having edge panels and a newer software on the S5.

C'mon srsly xd? Here you go: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.appplus.hilocker
Again, not sure if it works - I've just seen people say it does. Also not sure on which ROMs.

How to sponsor a LineageOS port to a new device?

Hi all,
I've been using the awesome LineageOS and its predecessor for many years and on many devices. I can't imagine using a device without it.
I recently stumbled upon a yet unsupported Mediatek based device. I would really like to sponsor a dev to port LineageOS to this device for two reasons:
To (selfishly) use LineageOS on it
To contribute to the community after benefiting from it for many years
What would be a good starting point to find a developer that could offer this service as job (beside posting it here)?
If you are interested in this job pls PM me (preferably with your Github profile).
Thanks for your help!

I have never specifically dabbled in Mediatek but, I believe, the following threads may, hopefully, be helpful for you regarding this topic in general.

There's more but, I believe that this should, hopefully, give you a good start and don't be afraid to ask for some member guidance within one of them too.
Good Luck!

Thanks Ibuprophen!
Sorry, I was too vague in the original posting: As I don't have the capabilities to build an port by myself, I'm looking for someone I can sponsor to build one as a job.
Anyone interested just send me a PM, ideally with your Github profile.

Verizon Galaxy S5 strip for GPS/Wifi only

Any advise/ideas on a stripped down rom (and root/bootloader instruction link), would be greatly appreciated.
Looking for as stripped down as possible, so the phone/messaging functionality is gone (and doesn't interfere/complain). Looking to use it as a stand alone GPS unit, and maybe a few wifi apps, and that's it.

Regarding a "Debloat" way for removing the Phone, SMS, MMS, etc... functions...
This is not possible because of the dependencies associated with them and the various other functions.
This question would probably be best asked on the following thread.

Oreo for S5 Exynos

Not to be picky but are there any oreo updates for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Exynos International and I've been waiting for over a year waiting for some new updates but there aren't currently any. I would just want to know if there's someone working on the update

Regarding the Official Samsung Updates...
All of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Variants had already surpassed their Official EOL (End Of Life) date (which was, I believe, sometime in March 2017).This EOL only means that there won't be any Official Android Versioning "Upgrades".
What it doesn't mean is that Samsung will only release Certain/Specific Critical Security Patches for those affected Variants but, this may/might/could be extremely sporadic and, unfortunately, this will eventually not happen at all (as time goes on) unless legally compelled to.
I hope that I had explained this okay via text...
Good Luck!

Okay then...
Those developments are typically located within the following S5 "Exynos" only area.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/galaxy-s-5-android-development-exynos
You may be able to locate some within one or both of the following areas as well.

Thank you for helping me but I think i'll end the search here because I tried finding it everywhere but the only one that I got that was related to the exynos variant was this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga.../wifi-bug-lineage-os-15-1-oreo-g900h-t3849308
I'll soon try this out in the near future which will be probably next year the reason it that i'm just afraid that this will brick my device as it is the one phone that I currently have; if you do find any exynos variants oreo custom rom feel free to give the link to me as i'll try it out
I think I might try to make one for myself...
