Does anyone else have an issue with notifications appearing when the phone is locked? I kept mine on my desk for a few hours, and as soon as I picked it up and pressed the side button to wake the screen, all my notifications came in at once.

It seemed to only happen when the phone went into a "deep sleep" I'm getting notifications now, because I'm actively picking up and using the phone. But they all seemed to delay and then appear at once after the deep sleep, like emails from 4 hours ago, now just appearing.

You don't have Do Not Disturb turned on accidentally do you?

it is a deep sleep issue on mine also.
If I get no notifications for a while it will go into deep sleep.
When I finally pick up the phone, I will get s series of notifications that came in after the phone went into deep sleep.

What about taking those apps out of battery optimization?
Google did what you are describing intentionally in Oreo to extend battery life. Oreo is much more aggressive when it comes to preventing apps from waking up the phone. The previous suggestion regarding battery optomization is probably your best bet.

Advanced WiFi Lock Free -- this solves the dreaded wake from sleep issue. Go into the app's settings and UN-check "Enable Timeout." Prior to this, I experienced the issue twice, but since installing this app, the wake from sleep issue has disappeared. I do sometimes have to push the power button twice to get it to wake from sleep. But other than that, I don't have any complaints about how the buttons work.
Thanks, seemed to have kept me from experiencing the problem too. Something I don't think anyone has noted is that the power light will "pulse" when it is asleep, but once the "sleep of death" occurs the light will stop pulsing and will just remain on.

I thought they pushed out an update that fixed that problem. I don't as I just picked mine up from Best Buy a couple hours ago. YEAH!!! Still letting it charge so I haven't gotten around to playing with it. Right now looking for a reasonable priced SDXC card. Thanks for the heads up though fellas.
Hi all,
I have updated to new FW 8.6.5.21 yesterday. After update, I still saw that can go to deep sleep mode. But after full charge, old problem still happend, never go to deep sleep mode again.
I have no dock.
Does anyone know how to fix????
There was a post about this earlier. Here you go.

For those of you that have a transformer that wont deep sleep whether its on or off the dock, doesnt matter you can get a app for that. its called Auto Airplane Mode, and it puts your transformer in airplane mode each and every time you turn the screen off, i have noticed a huge difference in battery life after installing this app. using Cpuspy my transformer went into deep sleep for 10 mins max a night for the last week. installed Auto Airplane Mode and the transformer goes into deep sleep within a min of turning screen off now. I already had the wifi set to turn off when screen is off and everything, the only thing i did was add this app.

Airplane mode wasn't the answer before and isn't the answer now. I haven't charged my transformer since the update so don't know if it is happening to mine but if it is the same as before then it isn't radios that is causing the problem its a bug in the OS that never lets it go into deep sleep after charging. A reboot after charging usually sorted it until the next charge. That is so long as you don't have a dock because the tab thinks it is being charged when on the dock. I hope they haven't introduced this bug again because it was a real PITA when it had it before.

I also installed Auto Airplane app, but I think it is not the solutions, still no deep sleep. Because I have no dock, after charging, I reboot but still no deep sleep. Now I have to charge everyday
Mine is fine. Deep sleep verified with cpu spy.

Mine keeps disabling the setting : turn wifi off when screen turns off.
This update is ****ed up!
mine goes into deep sleep perfectly now since the update, it wouldnt before unless I used the auto airplane app. Battery life is much better now.
mine wasn't sleeping, till i did a factory reset. now its sleeping as it should.
I am having the same problem since the update. CPU Spy indicates that it is in Deep Sleep, but I am having constant battery drain in AND out of the dock. Battery says that wifi is doing the damage. I have it clicked to sleep when screen timesout. Auto Airplane Mode worked. I am not happy though. I should not have to use it.
Mine doesn't sleeping whether install Auto Airplane mode or not. I'll try to factory reset....
Happy to say mine is still OK after the update. It till goes into deep sleep as it should.

Lucky guy....
I tried fatory reset, but nothing change. Still not sleep...
How come my transformer instead of going into a completely dormant sleep mode it goes into a sleep mode where every one minute according to the clock it flashes on the screen for a few seconds just to show the time on the lock screen???

Damn, this looks like the problem I'm having: when I check what's draining the battery, the first place with 58% is Screen! I didn't see the screen flash, though.
Upd. Yes! This is exactly the issue I'm having! I checked - the screen turns on from time to time, not every minute, but still... so no deep sleep for me here

Need to check permissions on your apps as they change with updates. some apps keep the TF from sleeping others wake it up periodically to check for mail or other syncs. Need to check them all as some things you might never expect like free games keep it alive.
I'm really stuck with this problem. After full reset and only one app installed (Dual Battery Widget) Transformer spends some time in deep sleep, then suddenly wakes up. You can see it on the attached screenshot. I have no idea what happened around 3 am when the device woke up and never went to deep sleep after that.

I think mine have the same problem. Sometime it go to sleep mode, but I don't know when. Event after reboot, no application running, still not sleep....
I had this problem with mine, it turned out to be some of the apps kept waking it, and then it wouldn't go back into deep sleep. I uninstalled some of them and haven't looked back since. Specifically Facebook was a big problem, even with no syncing.

The only app installed is Dual Battery Widget (I did a factory reset). Could it be the reason?
Maybe with this you can see more.
I recently upgraded my wife's phone from an s3 to s4. when setting up the phone, i went screen by screen through the initial setup. it would not go into deep sleep for 2 days. i hard reset the phone and went through the setup again. still no deep sleep. reset again. this time i skipped all of the initial setup and i have deep sleep again.
i think something is getting stuck when google is trying to restore the previous settings. i hope this helps someone as i was chasing this for three days.

well crap - that didn't work. i think it may be related to plugging in the phone to charge. deep sleep worked until i plugged it in - then after i unplugged it, no more deep sleep...

Are you using the charger that came with the phone? This has been an issue on other devices where the non stock charger causes a wake lock. You should get betterbatterystats, it'll help you find what's keeping your phone awake.
actually this is normal... not an S4 thing... while the phone is charging it doesn't usually go to deep sleep... that was true for my HTC One as well... you shouldnt worry about that...
but rather is the phone not going to deep sleep on regular use? then you might have a wakelock

Fixed! Google+ had logged in. Logged out of that and now it sleeps like a baby. She is getting insane battery life. She is a teacher and is getting her 3-4 hours of screen time and still has over 30% when she is going to bed.
Going to do some other tests this weekend. But the biggest impact was NOT letting Google restore the phone when setting it. up.
Just got my Priv yesterday, and loving it so far, BUT I noticed all day today so far my phone has been sitting next to me on a desk and the screen keeps randomly turning on. I went to Settings -> Display and disabled "Ambient display" and "Lift to wake" thinking that might be triggering it, but no luck. The display keeps randomly turning itself on and draining massive amounts of battery. Has anybody else had this problem or do I have a lemon of a device?
EDIT: I also noticed my device does not sleep "After 30 seconds of inactivity" like I set it to, or any amount of time I set it to for that matter. Anybody else have this problem as well?
I had the screen randomly waking issue too. I had to turn off Lift to wake for that to stop happening.
I also get the issue where the screen doesn't sleep even if I set the screen to sleep after 15 seconds.
You are not alone. lol
Ok so it's not a hardware issue on my end that's the good news I guess. The bad news is this issue is killing my battery life so it might be a deal breaker unless we can find solution.

You wouldn't happen to have an Android Wear watch that's connected to your phone at all, would you?
Or possibly trusted devices or places setup at all?

Check to see if the wake screen for new notification alerts are set. I had a similar issue when I first got the device but after turning this off and the lift to wake option my battery life has gotten much much better
So I restarted my device and the issue went away, then toggeled the Airplane mode on while I was in school (I'm a teacher) and turned it off when I was leaving school and noticed I had the same problem again.
Can one of you test to see if toggling the Airplane mode on your phone makes the screen timeout no longer work?

Just checked mine. Screen timeout working as it should when Airplane Mode activated. Hope you figure out what the problem might be. Good luck
After I got the PRIV I also noticed it woke up too easily. After disabling the 'Double-tap to wake' option (don't know the exact name) that didn't happen anymore.
I got the phone yesterday and during the initial set up, the phone got warm and dropped from 60% to 35% in less than an hour. Everything settled down but the battery was still draining quickly.
Last night, I charged the phone fully before going to bed and left it off the charger overnight. When I woke up 7 hours later, the battery had dropped to 78% which I think is completely uncalled for. Now for the past few hours, my battery is dropping faster than it should and my phone is getting warm just browsing Chrome or Facebook.
The other issues I am having are with sync. I got two emails overnight around 5am and just got the notification for them at 11am after I did a manual sync. I also haven't been able to get any Facebook notifications since I started using the app. I have the notification settings set correctly in the app and in the phone settings. The only thing I get is a Icon badge.
The apps I noticed that were sucking down a lot of power are the built in Amazon App and something called Access Cloud. I disabled the Amazon app but I can find the Access Cloud.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?
For notifications being delayed, go to Settings -> Advanced features -> Smart alert -> Off.
This feature waits for you to pick up your phone to notify you of notifications.... in my opinion should be off by default.
As for the battery I'm in the same boat, but it's only been two days so far and it's lasted me an entire day. Disable any tmobile bloat you don't use.
I had about the same amount of drain overnight as you. I had a horrible experience with the t-mobile app in the past where after disabling it I was seeing 15-20% more battery life throughout the day. But seeing as we can't disable this app out of the box, I downloaded an app called "Package Disabler" that allows you to disable pretty much anything you want. I disabled all these apps, let's see if it makes a difference today.

I just went through and disabled a bunch of stuff using Package Disabler. I guess we will see how it works.
I already had Smart Alert off so I know that's not the issue.
I wonder if anyone else is getting Facebook notifications.

I don't think smart alert waits for you to pick up the device to notify you.. I still get all my notifications right away. Smart alert just vibrates the phone as you pick it up to tell you that you have a missed notification. I could be wrong but that's how it worked on my s6 edge, why would it be any different now?

I agree. That's also the way it works for me.

I ended up doing a factory reset being that the battery drain was so bad. I also can't deal with the delayed notifications and non existing Facebook notifications.
If this doesn't work I'll just exchange it for another. There's no reason why some people with the same phone are getting good battery life and others have to deal with piss poor battery life.
I'm in the same boat. Just woke up with the phone off the charger after being fully charged. 2 hours later the phone was down 2% with 100% cpu usage with the android system. Since browsing the Web for this issue, I'm down 10%. My s6 was way better on batter and only went down 1% since yesterday with no usage! How can I fix this ? I upgraded for better battery life

You're probably right, I just interpreted it as it would only notify you when you picked up the device, but then again I always disable it. Downloaded Package disabler as well after reading this thread, here's to disabling that pesky T-Mobile app! :good:
