I turn my phone off last night with 50% battery left. This morning I turn the phone on and it tells me to charge the battery and then shuts off.
Here is where it gets weird; the exact same thing happened to my wife's phone except she had almost a full charge before turning it off.
What is going on?
I don't know I have gone 26 hours in mostly standby and I still have about 65-70 % of battery left. Check all your settings. I only have sync and back light to Auto turned on.
This is not normal and has never happened to me. Have you installed any apps from the market?
Little more info, please. Are your phones pre-OTA or have they been updated? Are they rooted? Did you just buy the phones? Have you trained the battery (fully charged then fully drained)? Have you done a factory reset?
Both phones are post update. Both were turned off by holding the power button then selecting "power off". Both have exactly the same apps that we had on our previous Androids (Vibrant and N1). Both bone stock. Have not factory reset, really don't want to go through the work of setup again.
I have never powered mine down completely overnight so I guess mine is not the same comparison. I might try it though just to see.
Ya they hold a great charge all day when on nut lost all their charge when powered off.
Is fastboot checked in settings or not?

Is this a feature known to eat up battery? I mean if I left the phone on all night it would have still had a charge.

Idk, shooting in the dark here, never heard of a problem like what you have. Wouldn't hurt to try. I know the fastboot has something to do with the way the phone shuts down.
That battery behavior is just strange unless you have apps syncing frequently.
I unplugged last night at 1am, went to bed, and got up this morning at 8am, it went from down fully charged to 93%. I have autobrightness on, wifi on, gmail and exchange syncing, every other app that syncs I have it to sync at least every 6 hrs or once a day.
I've had this phone for 3 days now, and I'm consistently able to get 12-14 hrs of battery time, and that includes heavy internet use, radio, tv, etc.
Are you in an area where it's constantly trying to pull a signal? Maybe that's what's eating the battery?
Are you doing the steps to condition the battery? Charge until fully charged, turn it off and keep it charged another hour, then take it off charge and use it until it completely dies on its own, charge it back up again and then use as normal?
Yeah, but he saying he powered the phone down, not left it on and just idle. Now that's strange

Yes but he is powering completely down not just in standby mode so nothing would be syncing. I will try this tonight and see if I have the same thing.
My wife had about 75% charge, I had about 50% charge. We both held the power button until the menu came up, we hit "power off". Both of our phones had dead batteries this morning.

None of this would matter cause the phones are powered off.
If you have fastboot checked, the phone is not actually turning off. It goes into a quasi-sleep state and some low level processes may be running. That said, your problem may be related to the following thread:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839935
the fix: enable USB debugging mode.
Another possibility, and this is someting that's happened to me in the past: the phones may be plugged into an outlet that loses power when you turn off the lights at night
Fast boot is similar to a Windows computer going into hibernation or standby mode.
Mine has been acting weird since Friday. I woke up and it totally discharged overnight... it was 100% charged when I went to bed. Yesterday it was laggy constantly and the battery has been draining at least twice as fast. Today phone locks up constantly.. apps are force closing.
... have rebooted, pulled the battery, etc... phone has gone from a dream to a nightmare in that respect.
Gonna double check my debug settings and see what happens.
EDIT: debug was turned off. I turned it on... will report back if there is a change.
UPDATE: Turning on USB debugging and a reboot seems to have fixed it. Battery drain `back to normal.
Hi all,
I have updated to new FW 8.6.5.21 yesterday. After update, I still saw that can go to deep sleep mode. But after full charge, old problem still happend, never go to deep sleep mode again.
I have no dock.
Does anyone know how to fix????
There was a post about this earlier. Here you go.

For those of you that have a transformer that wont deep sleep whether its on or off the dock, doesnt matter you can get a app for that. its called Auto Airplane Mode, and it puts your transformer in airplane mode each and every time you turn the screen off, i have noticed a huge difference in battery life after installing this app. using Cpuspy my transformer went into deep sleep for 10 mins max a night for the last week. installed Auto Airplane Mode and the transformer goes into deep sleep within a min of turning screen off now. I already had the wifi set to turn off when screen is off and everything, the only thing i did was add this app.

Airplane mode wasn't the answer before and isn't the answer now. I haven't charged my transformer since the update so don't know if it is happening to mine but if it is the same as before then it isn't radios that is causing the problem its a bug in the OS that never lets it go into deep sleep after charging. A reboot after charging usually sorted it until the next charge. That is so long as you don't have a dock because the tab thinks it is being charged when on the dock. I hope they haven't introduced this bug again because it was a real PITA when it had it before.

I also installed Auto Airplane app, but I think it is not the solutions, still no deep sleep. Because I have no dock, after charging, I reboot but still no deep sleep. Now I have to charge everyday
Mine is fine. Deep sleep verified with cpu spy.

Mine keeps disabling the setting : turn wifi off when screen turns off.
This update is ****ed up!
mine goes into deep sleep perfectly now since the update, it wouldnt before unless I used the auto airplane app. Battery life is much better now.
mine wasn't sleeping, till i did a factory reset. now its sleeping as it should.
I am having the same problem since the update. CPU Spy indicates that it is in Deep Sleep, but I am having constant battery drain in AND out of the dock. Battery says that wifi is doing the damage. I have it clicked to sleep when screen timesout. Auto Airplane Mode worked. I am not happy though. I should not have to use it.
Mine doesn't sleeping whether install Auto Airplane mode or not. I'll try to factory reset....
Happy to say mine is still OK after the update. It till goes into deep sleep as it should.

Lucky guy....
I tried fatory reset, but nothing change. Still not sleep...
How come my transformer instead of going into a completely dormant sleep mode it goes into a sleep mode where every one minute according to the clock it flashes on the screen for a few seconds just to show the time on the lock screen???

Damn, this looks like the problem I'm having: when I check what's draining the battery, the first place with 58% is Screen! I didn't see the screen flash, though.
Upd. Yes! This is exactly the issue I'm having! I checked - the screen turns on from time to time, not every minute, but still... so no deep sleep for me here

Need to check permissions on your apps as they change with updates. some apps keep the TF from sleeping others wake it up periodically to check for mail or other syncs. Need to check them all as some things you might never expect like free games keep it alive.
I'm really stuck with this problem. After full reset and only one app installed (Dual Battery Widget) Transformer spends some time in deep sleep, then suddenly wakes up. You can see it on the attached screenshot. I have no idea what happened around 3 am when the device woke up and never went to deep sleep after that.

I think mine have the same problem. Sometime it go to sleep mode, but I don't know when. Event after reboot, no application running, still not sleep....
I had this problem with mine, it turned out to be some of the apps kept waking it, and then it wouldn't go back into deep sleep. I uninstalled some of them and haven't looked back since. Specifically Facebook was a big problem, even with no syncing.

The only app installed is Dual Battery Widget (I did a factory reset). Could it be the reason?
Maybe with this you can see more.
So it happened again. Fully charge the TF for a trip. When I get to my distination (8hrs later) turn on the TF and its dead. No power and no chargers. This thing is pissing me off!
Anyone know why or how I can fix? I do have the wifi off when screen is off.
How is that possible?
Did you not shut down your TF?

It looks like you are having the reboot during deep sleep issue that started with the upgrade to ICS. The reboots can be stuck with the screen enabled and the processor actively trying to complete the boot, which drains your battery.
Short term, I would avoid leaving the TF powered up unattended for long periods.
That will prevent the total battery drain. For a longer term work around, you can try an app called Wake Lock, which you can set to prevent the TF from going into deep sleep, and eliminate the deep sleep reboots, which has helped some users, including me.
The app should be set to restart on Reboot, and select the Partial Lock, then select the Acquire Lock setting, on the red bar, which will switch to green, and indicate that it has acquired. You can also set it to show its icon in the Notification are, so that you have a visual assurance that it is working. Then just exit the app, and it will work in the background.
You can monitor that it is preventing Deep Sleep, using the CPUspy app.
I would then watch carefully to see that you aren't experiencing any more reboots during Deep Sleep.
Long term, ASUS is researching instability with ICS, and we hope to get a true fix. Until then, use of Wake Lock may help you.
Others may have other opinions and explanations, and they may be right, but this has cured my problem for the last 11days. Good luck.

No shut down. I would charge the TF to 100%. turn the screen on to see if its 100% charged and that's it. Then 8hrs or so later when I want to go use the TF, its dead. Can't even turn on.
Can this be the reboot issue or an application that is running and not letting my TF go to deep sleep? Help!

Your response makes no sense. You say TF was shut down then you say TF might not be going into deep sleep. If you power the TF down it will go off and use NO battery. you will get some battery internal discharge but TF will not come on an use battery. Try the same test shutting it off.
Ok...try again. I would charge the TF. Then check by pressing the power button. The screen goes on and shows 100%. Then press the power button to turn the screen off ( not turning it completely off).
When I want to use the TF, it won't turn on, as if its completely dead.
Suggestion?
its either a) you get a RR and get stuck in a bootloop, b) you got some app running that drains the battery, such as Winamp or c) your device is broken (not likely).

Under kernel wakelocks in better battery stats. Is anyone getting the mmc0:0001:2 wakelock? It has some serious counts an I think it's a culprit of some deep sleep issues. I tried with factory reset and not restoring anything, just installing bbs and its still there. I'm attaching a pic of insane 1.9 million counts. Anyone got any idea what this is?
EDIT: okay, so I did notice it was ticking like insane when I was downloading some games. And figured I would try turning off Wi-Fi, look and behold, it stopped ticking. Even when I turned it back on it back on it didn't tick up either. But if I turned if screen and later checked it was ticking again. My router had been acting weird lately so I made it forget it and put up a hot spot on my other phone. Now it doesn't tick up either, so must be my router D-Link DIR-655 with latest firmware. Good thing in getting a new router next week. Will update if it's better (going to buy a DIR-865L). Please do report if you are having same problem and find other solution though.
EDIT2: I left it using hot spot and awake time went up like 2 min and deep sleep 1.5 hours. Now it sleeps like a baby. Will update with new router next week. Hope this helps someone.
EDIT3: After a restart it started ticking up again for some reason even when connected to hot spot.

Galaxy Note 3 here. I'm getting the same thing, it's causing my phone to stay awake 100% of the time. I turned off my wifi and now the problem is done, but that is a huge hassle as I want to be connected to wifi all day if possible.
Will see if it's a router/modem issue or if it's a wifi on the phone issue.

Okay so, kinda forgot to update this thread, forgive me, Im a human I got my new router DIR-865L and I keep getting the same wakelock, however, this doesnt seem to make my phone to wake anymore, so I guess it was my old router, DIR-655 that gave the wakelocks. If you can try with a new router or at least another.
My Galaxy S4 LTE-A has the same problem. It occurs only when I connected to wifi.
Mmc0:0001:2 seems related to sd card, so I removed my external sd card.. but it did no trick.
And it is thought to lead to battery drain.
When connected wifi, battery decreases about 3% per hour, which is nearly three times to LTE.

I have the same thing now, wakelock detector app is showing it running hundreds of thousands of times with the phone only on for a few hours.
My phone has not been able to get into deep sleep. For the last few days that I've checked GSam, it's always been at 0s of deep sleep. Just checked right now and after 21 hours, my phone has gotten 10s of deep sleep. I've done a search and looked through many pages of posts on some of the various battery discussion threads but I haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone have a possible remedy for this or explanation of why it's happening? Is anyone else having trouble going into deep sleep?
Mines is the same, I assume it's because I charge my phone every night, which is really the only time my phone would sit still inactive long enough to actually enter doze.
I might of fixed my draining battery issue so maybe you guys can try it out too. My issue was my phone would not go to deep sleep and would stay awake even when the phones display was off so something was keeping it up. I tried all the different methods out there including the package disabler and doing the hard reset with the cache reset. I was browsing the developer options in the settings screen and looked at my running services. I noticed that my contacts and a. Program called com.qualcomm.location had a message next to them saying restarting while all the other programs just had a countdown of how long they were running. So I clicked on each and pressed stop and I also re-downloaded the package disabler and disabled the com.qualcomm.location. after all that I synced my contacts again and just did a simple reboot and after that my phone was able to deep sleep. Now my battery is not draining like it did. So in my case those 2 apps had an issue and kept trying to reset itself so the phone was never able to sleep. I would recommend looking at your running services in the developer options. go into the running services and see if anything is trying to restart itself over and over again
So I did finally achieve deep sleep. I tried a few things from the temporary battery fix thread and I wasn't able to pin point one thing which worked, THEN, I restarted my phone and it wouldn't go into deep sleep again. I tried wiping the cache and restarted and suddenly it's going into deep sleep again....
I'll keep an eye on it and will update if anything interesting happens.
I finally charged my phone prior to going to sleep and it finally did dose last night, the phone has to be stationary to enter deep sleep

Doze and deep sleep seem to be too different things. My phone will sometimes doze without going into deep sleep. What's really weird is that sometimes my phone will randomly stop going into deep sleep and a clearing of the system cache immediately fixes this. There have been at least two times I can confirm I *only* did a cache wipe and the issue was remedied.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and why clearing the cache helps?
Anyone figure this out? Also is everyone on stock? Im rooted and on superman rom, this is happening to me every day now after i charge it over night. I have to restart my phone to fix.

same for me on Galaxy s7 flat exynos sm-930f, no root, stock rom
very annoying
if you find a solution suitable for me (without root) please let me know
same here to me stock exynos s7 when plug off the charger in the morning have to restart the phone otherwise battery dies half day
I figured out that for my phone it defenitly is somehow connected to the fast-charging function.
When using the fast-charger the phone doesn't go into deepsleep anymore.
It happens as soon as the phone touches the fast-charger, it doesn't even need to fully charge for this to occur.
When charging with everything else, incl. Qi nothing happens, but as I said, after the fast-charger was connected - no deepsleep.
At least that's what I observed, no guarantee that this affects everybody.

It is the same issue that has been discussed for a while in "high android system battery drain" thread. Read up last few pages.
