Hi all,
I have updated to new FW 8.6.5.21 yesterday. After update, I still saw that can go to deep sleep mode. But after full charge, old problem still happend, never go to deep sleep mode again.
I have no dock.
Does anyone know how to fix????
There was a post about this earlier. Here you go.

For those of you that have a transformer that wont deep sleep whether its on or off the dock, doesnt matter you can get a app for that. its called Auto Airplane Mode, and it puts your transformer in airplane mode each and every time you turn the screen off, i have noticed a huge difference in battery life after installing this app. using Cpuspy my transformer went into deep sleep for 10 mins max a night for the last week. installed Auto Airplane Mode and the transformer goes into deep sleep within a min of turning screen off now. I already had the wifi set to turn off when screen is off and everything, the only thing i did was add this app.

Airplane mode wasn't the answer before and isn't the answer now. I haven't charged my transformer since the update so don't know if it is happening to mine but if it is the same as before then it isn't radios that is causing the problem its a bug in the OS that never lets it go into deep sleep after charging. A reboot after charging usually sorted it until the next charge. That is so long as you don't have a dock because the tab thinks it is being charged when on the dock. I hope they haven't introduced this bug again because it was a real PITA when it had it before.

I also installed Auto Airplane app, but I think it is not the solutions, still no deep sleep. Because I have no dock, after charging, I reboot but still no deep sleep. Now I have to charge everyday
Mine is fine. Deep sleep verified with cpu spy.

Mine keeps disabling the setting : turn wifi off when screen turns off.
This update is ****ed up!
mine goes into deep sleep perfectly now since the update, it wouldnt before unless I used the auto airplane app. Battery life is much better now.
mine wasn't sleeping, till i did a factory reset. now its sleeping as it should.
I am having the same problem since the update. CPU Spy indicates that it is in Deep Sleep, but I am having constant battery drain in AND out of the dock. Battery says that wifi is doing the damage. I have it clicked to sleep when screen timesout. Auto Airplane Mode worked. I am not happy though. I should not have to use it.
Mine doesn't sleeping whether install Auto Airplane mode or not. I'll try to factory reset....
Happy to say mine is still OK after the update. It till goes into deep sleep as it should.

Lucky guy....
I tried fatory reset, but nothing change. Still not sleep...
How come my transformer instead of going into a completely dormant sleep mode it goes into a sleep mode where every one minute according to the clock it flashes on the screen for a few seconds just to show the time on the lock screen???

Damn, this looks like the problem I'm having: when I check what's draining the battery, the first place with 58% is Screen! I didn't see the screen flash, though.
Upd. Yes! This is exactly the issue I'm having! I checked - the screen turns on from time to time, not every minute, but still... so no deep sleep for me here

Need to check permissions on your apps as they change with updates. some apps keep the TF from sleeping others wake it up periodically to check for mail or other syncs. Need to check them all as some things you might never expect like free games keep it alive.
I'm really stuck with this problem. After full reset and only one app installed (Dual Battery Widget) Transformer spends some time in deep sleep, then suddenly wakes up. You can see it on the attached screenshot. I have no idea what happened around 3 am when the device woke up and never went to deep sleep after that.

I think mine have the same problem. Sometime it go to sleep mode, but I don't know when. Event after reboot, no application running, still not sleep....
I had this problem with mine, it turned out to be some of the apps kept waking it, and then it wouldn't go back into deep sleep. I uninstalled some of them and haven't looked back since. Specifically Facebook was a big problem, even with no syncing.

The only app installed is Dual Battery Widget (I did a factory reset). Could it be the reason?
Maybe with this you can see more.

Prior to ICS my tf101 would last a good 3-4 days on a fully charged battery with my normal usage during the week. Yesterday I installed ICS went to sleep with just over 50%, it had suffered some heavy usage yesterday, and woke up to a completely flat and switched off tablet this morning. This is very unusual performance for my tab.
When I installed ICS I did a factory reset to clean up my tab so only have a pinch of the apps I had previously installed. One thing I did notice is on the battery tab of system settings the tablet was awake 100% of the time were traditionally it would only have a blue mark were it was in use on the awake line. Battery usage data is unavailable, too, so cant see what is causing tablet not to sleep.
Any suggestions?
I would wait until it settles a bit more, plus wait for a custom rom. It probably has some bug, seeing as it is the first ICS for our device.
I also notice some battery drain last week
on HC and ICS
right now i reverted back to honeycomb
ill update you later
if anything changes to me
MyZine Widget
Got rid of the MyZine widget and my tablet now goes to sleep in standby. I noticed, when browsing the running apps list, that the app kept 'restarting' so it could buggy or at the least was having a problem with my tab.
Prior to ICS my battery drain was crazy, especially if I leave wifi on. Not anymore, it's back to normal consumption like I had before the last HC firmware update.
I had the same problem this morning.
take cpu spy to have a look if the tablet goes into depp sleep.
https://market.android.com/details?...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5idmFsb3Nlay5jcHVzcHkiXQ..
i had to reboot and then everything was fine...
I've still got problems with my tab. Returned to it after a few hours non-use and it had shutdown itself. Battery Drain still seems an issue too. I'll install that app and see what it reports.
Check WiFi disconnection policy and if GPS is disbled.
Here I am trying to get answers to exactly the op's problem. Everything went smooth installing ics. Even wiped data.
Woke up this morning to a very dead battery. Went to sleep at 83%. Interestingly, the battery graph show nothing after about 80%. No indication on the graph of total discharge...and no app usage. Just straight from 80 to zero.
I can't determine if it's a hung app or what....I've installed almost nothing. And it looks like the tablet drained while it was OFF!

Sorry for the link....I could not get the damn picture posted for the life of me...despite 45 minutes worth of my time.
i also woke up to a dead battery this morning. it was 50%+ when i left it on standby, wifi & gps switched off. i would have expected minimal drain on HC.

Try this
Go to settings /WiFi /click three dots in upper right corner/Advanced/ uncheck keep wifi on during sleep.
go to recently used apps and close all ( swipe to right)
put tab to sleep for a while
Come back and turn on.
go to settings
battery
tap grey battery level graph to expand
check individual bars to see what was on and off.
Looks liks some apps are keepi9ng WiFi and GPS on and draining battery.
It would be really nice in future update to have a setting like below:
Setting
Sleep setting
On screen off close all apps except ( here you get to choose apps to leave open)
I'm glad I am not the only one with battery drain issues. I thought I was doing something wrong.
Several days ago I charged my dock and tablet fully. I then turned off the tablet, closed the lid and didn't use it for a few days, when I went to run it again it was totally dead. I would have expected it to at least hold something of a charge in a completely off state.
Yesterday I left the tablet and dock on but just turned the screen off and again this morning had a drained dock.
Just seems like no matter how I try to settle on a way I still see more of a drain than I would have expected.

I will have to take a look at that setting myself and see what is up with it.
Yes, it would nice to have a sleep setting button for some helpful settings.
Have there been any firmware updates for the dock itself, or is that not possible?
I'm having the same issue dock was at 80% last night get up this morning and it's at 6%. I set wifi to off during sleep to see if that helps any.

Have to close apps that are keeping stuff on. Look at permissions. More and more are adding "prevent "Function X off during sleep."
As soon as I got the update installed I turned GPS off and set WiFi to never sleep, woke up this morning to only 4% battery drain. The tablet went 12 hours and went from 40% to 36%, i also had apps open...
apps open: engadget, camera, browser, gmail, market and settings..
no battery drain yet, updated yesterday and only 5% drain during the night with apps open
Help!
Same problem here. I noticed high battery drain yesterday and didn't think to leave it plugged in.
This morning, it wouldn't turn back on! I've left it plugged in in case the battery drained too far and will try to turn it on later on.
With HC, the power button was buggy (had to press really hard) and seemed that that went away with ICS (well except for now). Don't know if this is related.
Same issues with me. Except my tablet won't wake up when I push the power button. I have to hold and reset it. Here is the kicker: I will get a 20% power drain over 9 hours on top of it. So not only does my tablet not turn on after it being asleep, but I get a power drain as well!
My Settings: Stock ICS off a completely reformatted device, Keep Wi-Fi on only when plugged in, screen timeout is 1 minute and MobileDock Battery Saving mode is on. My battery usage indicator does not work... I have to get the very basic info from my battery widget.
Very disappointed! This was the one thing I wanted fixed the most. I hated using the airplane mode app. It severely affected performance.

Maybe we are all having the random reboot problem.
It makes sense if you think about it.. Mine would randomly go into reboot in sleep and the device would get stuck on the Asus loading screen. So when the device cycle through the loading screen for an entire night, you would find a dead tablet by the morning.
So far, I have encountered 2 random reboots, the only way to bring the device out of the boot screen is to hard reset it by holding down the power button.

custom roms tweaked the battery for couple days use.. asus claimed like 9 hours on the tablet.. and like 19 with dock keyboard. custom ics roms inc
So it happened again. Fully charge the TF for a trip. When I get to my distination (8hrs later) turn on the TF and its dead. No power and no chargers. This thing is pissing me off!
Anyone know why or how I can fix? I do have the wifi off when screen is off.
How is that possible?

It looks like you are having the reboot during deep sleep issue that started with the upgrade to ICS. The reboots can be stuck with the screen enabled and the processor actively trying to complete the boot, which drains your battery.
Short term, I would avoid leaving the TF powered up unattended for long periods.
That will prevent the total battery drain. For a longer term work around, you can try an app called Wake Lock, which you can set to prevent the TF from going into deep sleep, and eliminate the deep sleep reboots, which has helped some users, including me.
The app should be set to restart on Reboot, and select the Partial Lock, then select the Acquire Lock setting, on the red bar, which will switch to green, and indicate that it has acquired. You can also set it to show its icon in the Notification are, so that you have a visual assurance that it is working. Then just exit the app, and it will work in the background.
You can monitor that it is preventing Deep Sleep, using the CPUspy app.
I would then watch carefully to see that you aren't experiencing any more reboots during Deep Sleep.
Long term, ASUS is researching instability with ICS, and we hope to get a true fix. Until then, use of Wake Lock may help you.
Others may have other opinions and explanations, and they may be right, but this has cured my problem for the last 11days. Good luck.

No shut down. I would charge the TF to 100%. turn the screen on to see if its 100% charged and that's it. Then 8hrs or so later when I want to go use the TF, its dead. Can't even turn on.
Can this be the reboot issue or an application that is running and not letting my TF go to deep sleep? Help!

Your response makes no sense. You say TF was shut down then you say TF might not be going into deep sleep. If you power the TF down it will go off and use NO battery. you will get some battery internal discharge but TF will not come on an use battery. Try the same test shutting it off.
Ok...try again. I would charge the TF. Then check by pressing the power button. The screen goes on and shows 100%. Then press the power button to turn the screen off ( not turning it completely off).
When I want to use the TF, it won't turn on, as if its completely dead.
Suggestion?
its either a) you get a RR and get stuck in a bootloop, b) you got some app running that drains the battery, such as Winamp or c) your device is broken (not likely).

This is my 3rd day with the TF300. Every night since i got it, the tab turns off by its self.. I wake up in the morning and have to power on the TF300 (battery is more than 50% left). This is getting frustrating for me. Anyone know what the cause of this is?
Im running on default "balanced" mode all the time. Also on .17 firmware. Clicking firmware update doesnt do anything. It wont even give a message like "no update available" or anything like that. It just stays in that screen.

That's really weird. Does this only happen at night? If you leave the tablet unattended during the day does it turn off by itself? Are you a sleepwalker or someone else in your house? When you set it down at night you may be pressing the power button inadvertently and turning it off? Is your house haunted?
Are you sure it turns off or is it sleep of death? For how long do you press the button to turn it on after the night? If its more than 5 secs and closer to 15-20 seconds you tablet may be experiencing sleep of death. May be cause by an app or something else. If it only happens at night and not during day, there might be some kind of weird timer turning it off. Have you tried cold booting?
Tonight try setting up a camera on your bedroom and see what happens....

Yes it only happens at night. By the time i wake up its shut off. I leave it at the desk beside my bed. 100% sure no one touches it while im asleep lol. We have no pets. Just me and the wife. And she has her own ipad!
I turn it on by holding the power button for 2 secs. So i guess its not the sleep of death.
I only have a few apps installed. Its only my 3rd day that i have the tablet. Havent really had the time to play with it thoroughly.
Ill try not to touch it for 8 hours today.. ill report back. Thanks for the input!

I am on my second tablet (the first one had a defective touchscreen) and I can confirm that my tablet does power itself off as well. It does not happen every night, but it happens at least once a day. It has not powered down when I have been using it only when I am away from it for a while. Not sure what could be causing it. It has happened since day one, when there weren't many apps downloaded on it.

Surprisingly it did not shut down by itself. I dunno really whats going on. Ill observe for a few more days if the problem is completely gone.

i think is not that is just shuting off. its crashing, but remains off afterward.
i t has happened to me since day one. some times while using but mainly while sleeping. i happened the firstime while watching youtube when i first opened the box to try..
i havent tried a factory reset nor uptading to .26
but as this problem is not that common. i havent tried that. as some thimes i have a lot of programs loaded or installed.
well maybe this weekend i will update to .26 just to be upodate. with factory setting and all!
When i updated mine, i also performed a factory reset. Never experienced the problem again.. Happy with my tf300
I experienced the same problem. I bought my TF300 yesterday and played around with it the whole day until 10pm. After waking up this morning I could just wake it up from standby as normal. Then I went to university and when I came back (12hours later) I could not turn it on again. First I thought the battery would be empty, but I got it to boot up again by pressing the power button for about 10s.
I have firmware version .17 and I rootet it.
Also i read that the problem may be caused by:
- setting wifi to turn off in standby
- adobe flash player being installed
So I want to ask, if you have either set the wifi to turn off in standby or installed adobe flash player when the problem occured. I have both and now tried to set the wifi to always stay awake.
I'll report tomorrow if it helped
Yes i have adobe flash installed. I also have the wifi set to "Always". It never happened anymore since my last few posts

It doesn't sound like the device were turned off,
I think what you guys are experiencing is the sleep of death issue.
When you guy boot it up in the morning, I does it boot up the first time you hold the power bottom, and or you haven't to press it again after the first time didn't work?
Already confirmed mine isnt the sleep of death. Refer to my previous posts
I guess I experienced the sleep of death issue... Do you know what causes this problem and how it can be solved?
PS: This morning I could wake up my device normally.
Adobe flash installed
Wi-Fi turns off when asleep setting on
Unit wakes in morning no problem before and after firmware flash.
I had this same issue after rooting my new TF300T and installing QuickBoot.
After uninstalling, I no longer had any issue with it shutting down
Actually this has happened to me twice this week including today. I leave mine in the dock overnight to charge and when I go to use it in the afternoon, it's completely shut down. When it wasn't responding to any of the dock buttons, I hit the on/off button and it still wasn't responding. It wasn't until I long pressed the power button that the boot up started. I have no idea what happened. I'm rooted but not unlocked with the latest firmware update. I also had it on performance mode before charging. It never did this before the last firmware update.
I recently upgraded my wife's phone from an s3 to s4. when setting up the phone, i went screen by screen through the initial setup. it would not go into deep sleep for 2 days. i hard reset the phone and went through the setup again. still no deep sleep. reset again. this time i skipped all of the initial setup and i have deep sleep again.
i think something is getting stuck when google is trying to restore the previous settings. i hope this helps someone as i was chasing this for three days.

Are you using the charger that came with the phone? This has been an issue on other devices where the non stock charger causes a wake lock. You should get betterbatterystats, it'll help you find what's keeping your phone awake.
actually this is normal... not an S4 thing... while the phone is charging it doesn't usually go to deep sleep... that was true for my HTC One as well... you shouldnt worry about that...
but rather is the phone not going to deep sleep on regular use? then you might have a wakelock

Fixed! Google+ had logged in. Logged out of that and now it sleeps like a baby. She is getting insane battery life. She is a teacher and is getting her 3-4 hours of screen time and still has over 30% when she is going to bed.
Going to do some other tests this weekend. But the biggest impact was NOT letting Google restore the phone when setting it. up.
My phone has not been able to get into deep sleep. For the last few days that I've checked GSam, it's always been at 0s of deep sleep. Just checked right now and after 21 hours, my phone has gotten 10s of deep sleep. I've done a search and looked through many pages of posts on some of the various battery discussion threads but I haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone have a possible remedy for this or explanation of why it's happening? Is anyone else having trouble going into deep sleep?
Mines is the same, I assume it's because I charge my phone every night, which is really the only time my phone would sit still inactive long enough to actually enter doze.
I might of fixed my draining battery issue so maybe you guys can try it out too. My issue was my phone would not go to deep sleep and would stay awake even when the phones display was off so something was keeping it up. I tried all the different methods out there including the package disabler and doing the hard reset with the cache reset. I was browsing the developer options in the settings screen and looked at my running services. I noticed that my contacts and a. Program called com.qualcomm.location had a message next to them saying restarting while all the other programs just had a countdown of how long they were running. So I clicked on each and pressed stop and I also re-downloaded the package disabler and disabled the com.qualcomm.location. after all that I synced my contacts again and just did a simple reboot and after that my phone was able to deep sleep. Now my battery is not draining like it did. So in my case those 2 apps had an issue and kept trying to reset itself so the phone was never able to sleep. I would recommend looking at your running services in the developer options. go into the running services and see if anything is trying to restart itself over and over again
So I did finally achieve deep sleep. I tried a few things from the temporary battery fix thread and I wasn't able to pin point one thing which worked, THEN, I restarted my phone and it wouldn't go into deep sleep again. I tried wiping the cache and restarted and suddenly it's going into deep sleep again....
I'll keep an eye on it and will update if anything interesting happens.
I finally charged my phone prior to going to sleep and it finally did dose last night, the phone has to be stationary to enter deep sleep

Doze and deep sleep seem to be too different things. My phone will sometimes doze without going into deep sleep. What's really weird is that sometimes my phone will randomly stop going into deep sleep and a clearing of the system cache immediately fixes this. There have been at least two times I can confirm I *only* did a cache wipe and the issue was remedied.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and why clearing the cache helps?
Anyone figure this out? Also is everyone on stock? Im rooted and on superman rom, this is happening to me every day now after i charge it over night. I have to restart my phone to fix.

same for me on Galaxy s7 flat exynos sm-930f, no root, stock rom
very annoying
if you find a solution suitable for me (without root) please let me know
same here to me stock exynos s7 when plug off the charger in the morning have to restart the phone otherwise battery dies half day
I figured out that for my phone it defenitly is somehow connected to the fast-charging function.
When using the fast-charger the phone doesn't go into deepsleep anymore.
It happens as soon as the phone touches the fast-charger, it doesn't even need to fully charge for this to occur.
When charging with everything else, incl. Qi nothing happens, but as I said, after the fast-charger was connected - no deepsleep.
At least that's what I observed, no guarantee that this affects everybody.

It is the same issue that has been discussed for a while in "high android system battery drain" thread. Read up last few pages.
