OREO update UK Thread - HTC U Ultra Questions & Answers

I thought Ide start a Thread specifically for the UK models:
In UK Unlocked and still on 1.64.401.10 / Oct 2017...
Which software you running?
Any carriers got it yet?

Why are we (UK) always the last to get anything... Anyway in the thread above... someone in Germany has reported the pop-up.. so hopefully this week or next for us in UK?
Lets hope.. but Oct 2017 since last security update... thats crazy

Yeah, it's a staged roll out. We'll get it when we get it. It'll be a half-arsed effort anyway. HTC doesn't really care about the Ultra.

I dont know why because a friend of mine works for CW and when the U Ultra came out, he was telling me that they sold 100s of them, its just because HTC messed up the launch and reviewers scr*wed it over, but IMO, as a phone its fantastic.. the speakers are a little richer on the U11, but much louder on the Ultra.. also, if you experiment in the camera, the images can be brilliant.. ..
Anyway, lets hope HTC dont make UK users wait too long

I am not saying the hardware is bad, I like the hardware mostly... The lack of a headphone jack is a pain, but I knew that going in. The problem is HTC, and their lack of after sales support. At this point, they should just give us treble, and get it over with, coz U Ultra won't see an update after Oreo the way HTC is treating it.

Available on my Amazon purchased unlocked UK handset.
At last....

[Q] Want to root my HTC Wildfire But i have the OTA 2.2 Update

Hello
I was wanting to root my HTC Wildfire running Android 2.2 but i dont know how to do it? Can somebody Please help me!
Thanks,
Alistair
Wrong topic under wrong podforum. Try browsing Wildfire development, you'll find your answer there.
P.s.
The answer is, you can't. Get in line and wait unrevoked.

WAIT for the USELESS Unrevoked?????
IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! .v.
I have been waiting for it for more than 3 months!!!!!
FXXX IT!
well... Truth be told it's getting really ridiculous.
Three months later and after some recorder succesfull cases of S-Off they didnt even so much as bother releasing any news on the progress.
I'm with everyone stating we shouldn't be demanding anything since its not a right its just something they do on their spare time but if they cant make it work at least give it out to the community to try.
After all, nobody started out knowing everything they had help from the rest of the android world like anybody would. Isn't it time to give something back? Even if its just an update on their progress.

Referencing the 90/90 rule is an update for 90% of the earths population and anything they might be working on.

It's true though, and the thing is no matter what device I buy, it always in the corner of the room not being able to enjoy the party.
Happened with iPod Touch 2G MC, had to wait for months to get jailbreak just because our devices were unique and we have different bootroms.
And now HTC Wildfire, I bought the phone after getting the news that HTC Wildfire will be getting Froyo update, but now stuck with it with no root. I should've asked them if there were any handsets left with 2.1 Stock in it. :\

Haha, I was in the same boat with my iPod Touch 3G 32GB bought last October. I clearly remember going to Chronic Dev's website every few hours just to check up on the progress of Greenpoison, and the anticlimax that was when limera1n was released.
Thankfully, had better luck with my Wildfire, although I had previously decided to get the 2.2 OTA just to check it out (Because, at the very beginning, I was afraid to root and all, since the guides seemed complex), I am glad I didn't.

This is officially the 2000th topic asking the same damn question. Congrats.
No need to be so rude, everyone want's to know how the dev team is doing, and we all wait for the same answer. So we'll just have to wait and see.

HTC officially dissolves locked bootloader policy

Oh wow, so HTC is actually listening to consumers? I didn't think companies did that anymore... Kudos HTC, very awesome.
HTC is just on fire these days huh? This is pretty awesome!
Just saw the Engadget article. This is why I love HTC over Motorola, Samsung, etc. They listen.
Lord only knows what the community will be able to do with a dual core unlocked device . Hopefully, sometime down the line, VZW will get one. My upgrade still isn't for another year anyway. So by then, I expect to see some pretty awesome stuff.
That is freaking awesome! I was thinking my next phone wouldn't be an HTC (which sucks cause I love my incredible) but its on now.

Would this mean that HTC phones would be able to be rooted easily or no root would be needed... I have no Dev skills that's why i ask..
Well you'll still need to root, but you can install new ROM's easily with an unlocked bootloader, and without a lot of painful work.
For us Incredible users, we've been pretty lucky to have the "unrevoked" program that automates the whole process- but a lot of other phones have to go through some pretty annoying and difficult steps in order to be able to flash ROM's.
I've also heard that Motorola has jumped on the unlocked bootloader bandwagon, after HTC announced they would be doing it.
All good news, big props to HTC for listening to customers and making the move.
Also another article if anyone is interested in reading more into the story:
http://www.softsailor.com/news/8094...ature-an-unlocked-bootloader-from-now-on.html
If HTC sticks to this policy and the carriers don't get all pissy with policies on rooted/rom'd phones on their network, I'll never buy another device unless it says HTC on it... Good move, HTC. The phones, after all, BELONG to us.
I love it.
That is fantastic news.

I'm not too sure.. and I wouldn't know if its a knock off to b honest. From what I saw this is a China whole sale website. So I figure this stuff comes from there. From the many reviews I read on both websites customer service seems to b excellent, so if ud like to know then just ask.

hey there!
yeah, lightinthebox.com is in Hong Kong, I believe.
Check out www.chinavasion.com
I've been doing business with these reputable Chinese vendors sites for a few years. I buy the product, they ship it to me, I resell at a slight margin. One of my clients asked me where and who my supplier is. I smiled and gave him my response,"Trade secret."
Honestly, would you want your own client to compete against you? After all, this THEIR money you want! <slight laugh>

Funny about all the fuss of the Motos being the first to get the updates, now it seems like almost all of us are stuck waiting.

Well, we're still going to get it earlier than the vast majority of Android users. Only a handful of devices have it so far, and the Moto G is one of them. Our wait will be nowhere near as long as most people's.
really waiting and I think I have checked more than 100 times for the update
Portugal still waiting... Maybe more for the middle of this week..
I think XT1068 is the most sold variant of Moto G 2014...So...Why delay it for such long time?
I know some people say that the US release is like a test for a minor number of devices...but...You know...4 days is enough time to check if everything is going well... :S
It could take up to few weeks to update all G variants so relax and don't get crazy. Look at nexus 5 owners how they're complaining about bugs on L5. Is it better to wait longer and have polished version or have buggy update right away and complaint about it?

It's been almost 2 years and my OPO is still strong as hell and still a ton of fun with random roms!

Some sites are still selling some styleswap. But it may be a good idea to get some of the replacement parts, just in case.
That's a bad news, maybe we can build a statue for our OPO, cause this is a legend phone LOL
Maybe switch to nexus 6P if this is true..
Good run while it lasted

It is true but OPO production is still on it last batch in limited quantity and i think it will be officially over before OP3 is launched in june....
What do you expect... A phone that's 2 years old, already 2 newer models and a 3th one in the near future.
Which doesnt mean I love this phone. I hope the OP3 is a pimped OPO. Bit more ram, fingerprint and dualism pls ?
They cant even get the bugs worked out of the 2 and the X and now they are decommissioning their only "flagship" phone. They had better make sure the 3 is way above and beyond that of the 1 or I see a dismal future for OP.

It's hard to call the OPO "their only 'flagship' phone" when it was superseded by the OP2 last year. Regarding the new device being "way above and beyond that of the 1" I don't think any manufacturer has released any device that's "way above and beyond" their flagships from 2 years ago, which is why flagship handset sales in the developed world have been relatively stagnant for the last year. There just hasn't a compelling reason to upgrade, because devices haven't improved that much over previous models the last couple of years.
