Brick, Elite Rom, stock, and brick again... - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Hy everyone, i have an VNS-L23 Argentina Huawei, about a week ago i installed the Elite Rom with no problem, but it had some 4g problems, so yesterday i wanted to back to stock, and there all begin, i follow the steps to back to stock but it bricked i dont know why. i solved it with dload mode and a stock 6.0 rom global for latinoamerica (VNS-L23C605B120). In that rom i cant update to nougat and fingerprint doesnt work.
I googled and i found a ´´p9 lite B150 Nougat Stock Firmware VNS-l23 Argentina Version Personal´´(VNS-L23C110B150) and i tried to install it, now i have a black screen always i turn on and all the update.app i tried dont work, do the error ´´incompatibility with current version please download the correct update package´´. Bootloader unlocked but frp locked and i cant do anything in flashboot because of that. Also i lost TWRP. Can a technic solve this?
Thanks and please give me help, greetings from Argentina.

Hello,

Wait wait... damn It.... why you flashed
firmware with different cust ??
( u flashed c110 over c605 )...
That's the reason you bricked It...
Damn It bootloader unlocked, FRP locked...
that's not a good situation...
Take a look onto those threads and
if cannot escape bring your phone to assistance:fingers-crossed:

Hello,
try this before u bring phone to assistance..
Check if TWRP work for you, and if you donot have then install one for your version firmware then put in SD the files in links...
Reboot recovery and flash oeminfo.zip.
When finished turn off the phone and reboot with vol up+vol down+power buttons until flash starts...
When finished reboot to e-recovery (vol up+power button) and make a factory reset.. That' all...
Wish you the best..

Hey i dont know if i can help,
explain the problem as better as you can.

Yeeeeah, if you ask me Elite rom is simply bad. Yes, it is fast and etc, but if i have to pay for some features then that is a BIG NO.
Why you want to flash Elite rom though? Half of the mods barely work and it is no different from the stock EMUI.

Hi!
I haved flashed B329 on my Huawei P9 lite.
Then I got problems and flashed back (after spending much time) to B151.
Then offical Huawei update to B161 was there. I tried to update but got error message.
Then I tried to update manualy to B161 and several other firmwares like B329, B336 and during this I have done something wrong. Now I am trying since 4 days, to install any firmware that will work again.
I have done many things in this time. I don`t know anymore which status is present on my phone.
I can start fastboot rescue modus and I can run Meticulus Recovery and Revolution Recovery. But I can`t flash any firmware there. Always get message that something failed. DLoad Modus I can reach, but any firmware I put in dload on my external sdcard didn`t work. After 5% I get message that it failed to update. I don`t know what I can do anymore. I think I have done something stupid with my partitions and many more. Now I am totally frustrated and don`t know what to do, to become my phone running any firmware. So it would be really really nice, if someone of you could help me!
Thank you and sorry for bad English!

Hi again!
I have tried a thousand of things and finally I have become it running again
If someone else did have this problem...
I have uploaded an package that contains all that was needed, to become it booting again.
(OEM Patch, recovery and download link for stock firmware from this forum)
Sorry that I upload these files without complete information where they come from. I don`t know anymore, because I downloaded and tried too much things to become it running again. If someone knows where these files are from, it would be great if this information could be updated.
Hope that I can help other users that have this problem, with this package, to fix the problem.
This I have done:
1. I have flashed recovery using fastboot
2. In recovery I installed the zip containing OEM Patch
3. I started recovery using dload method (must not flash any other recovery to start it)
If Bootloader is locked... I have used "SRKToolHuawei-Lod-Chong-V2.0-20161002" to unlock it.

Rollback to Stock Firmware - European Version

Hi,
I played a bit around with my Huawei P9 Lite, but I forgot to save my initial settings (originally it's a branded phone by 3 Austria). - Yes, my bad.
Now I'd like to go to back to the original firmware. I realised that I have firmware VNS-L21C900B161. - But my phone used to have C432, not C900.
What does C900 mean? Do I still get updates? How do I get a C432 firmware?
Sorry for those many questions, but I am desparate. I just want the correct Version for Europe (unbranded). - Also to get the update to Android Nougat.
Any help is appreciated.
Seth01
You must flash oeminfo C432 and then flash update.app...there are good tutorial in youtb.....
It worked, but... :/
Hi
thank you so much for your help. Now I have the European OEM C432 Version.
But if I (re)boot my smartphone now, it says , "Your device has failed verification and may not work properly." - But it does work properly and it also boots normally then.
How do I get rid of this message?
Greetings,
Seth

I am actually afraid to reflash. Will it then not become OEM version C900 again?
Can I flash via SD-Card with the dload folder, or do I need a tool? (I have downloaded and used the "VNS-L21-L22-L31 Toolkit.exe".)
Seth
Did you make factory reset before boot??
Yes, i did. And In the meantime the message is gone. So everything's fine so far.
But my bootloader is still open.
Any idea how to close? The message on reboot that the device can't be trusted, is rather annoying.
Seth
You got to relock.use the toolkit.....for me after downgrade that warning message about bootloader unlock is gone.but in fastboot my phone is unlocked...
Yeah, I'll try tomorrow. I tried to lock with the tool, but it crashed when I tried to.
Thank you to all of you for your help!

Nope. It will not become because you will flash the c432 version. That message you get is because you unlocked your bl. A simple relock or firmware flash via dload will solve your problem.

[Solved] Soft brick after trying to upgrade to newest rom version

I'm also one of the fools that got his phone stuck in the boot... it boots up till the Huawei logo and after that nothing. I've tried several solutions but still no luck.
I've3 got the Nougast recovery from Bulywolf (or something) and i've tried flashing different roms but no luck so far. I also made the mistake to change the data partition from f2 to ext4... I guess that caused all the problems but how do i solve it?
It is actually doing my head in...
I managed to install the first file from the rollback tutorial... It said it was succesfull but now I'm still stuck seeing the Huawei logo... So I guess it didn't work
Edit: Managed to get in! But it says my version is NRD90M test-keys....

You wanted to update to B329 which is Android 7.0 right? If so, put the right package to downgrade to MM and then try three-buttons way.

Hello there
Do you have access to TWRP or Revolutionary recovery? If so, you can check on google for "Huawei P9 Lite oeminfo", downloadit, flash zip via recovery(TWRP or Revolutionary), then try to force update you phone by holding all 3 buttons when phone is booting up, make sure that you have update.app in dload folder on sdcard.
DON'T FORGET TO SAVE YOUR BOOTLOADER UNLOCK CODE!!!

Could you give me the official firmware link for this model (VNS-L23C605B120) please?

well, here is some you can try, find a downgrade update.app, later re flash it with the according restore update.app, it will end to 97% but it`ll work enough to start the cellphone and install the custom twrp recovery and make an good install.

P9 Lite wont turn on

Hello everyone, have been a long time
I have a VNS-L21 (P9 Lite 2016) from Colombia, it worked fine but I started to get more and more ads over the time so I decided to unlock the bootloader and root it, and I did it, after almost a year of working just fine, the phone start to restart by itself with no reason around 1 or 2 days per month, they were not scheduled or something.
Last night the phone started to restart by itself again, but this time after it turned on completely it went off some minutes later and started to restart several times without reason, I got frustrated so I decided to uninstall root (thought it was the problem) but the problem was still there, turn on and after some minutes it went off and restart.
Then I decided to check for updates and it had a pending update so I chose to install it but after restart, it won’t come on and kept in an endless boot loop.
Can anyone help me and tell me what to do? Thanks in advance...

Hello,
I bet that along with the root you also had a custom recovery.
So if before you install the update you have re-flashed the stock recovery, simply hold vol + and power button until it restarts in e-recovery mode. At this point make a factory reset and wipe cache.
Reboot system, done.
If instead you have not reinstalled the stock recovery, download one for the system you use (android 6 or 7) and install it via fastboot. ( you can download a rom the same version you use and extract recovery with extractor.
There are two recovery.img in the rom, just take recovery, NOT recovery2 ).
Try to reboot with vol + and power until you turn it on,
then factory reset in custom recovery.
Reboot in fastboot mode, install stock recovery, reboot system and launch again the update.
Happy holidays and good luck

No worries dude my english is very bad too......
So, you're in nougat L21, but what is your complete firmware ? (example L21C432B504)
Then download from official THREAD Firmware Finder for PC and unzip in a folder on your desktop.
Launch FF and go to COMMON BASE tab.
Type your complete firmware into search space and click on the search button...
Find FULL OTA MF firmware, tap on FILELIST tab, a pop up will appear...
Select the whole link of ONLY update.zip and copy/past into your browser for download...
Once downloaded, unzip to a folder on your desktop.
Download Huawei Update Extractor you find here on XDA...
Launch HUE and select UPDATE.APP you find into folder you just unzipped from upadate.zip...
Now you'll see two recovery, just select recovery.img and with mouse's* right key extract somewere on your desktop...
Done dude you have stock recovery....
Copy that .img recovery into your adb/fastboot folder (very important) and reboot in fastboot mode.
If you don't have adb/fastboot just download here from XDA..
From PC with terminal launch "fastboot flash recovery
(name.of.recovery).img" and recovery will be flashed.
Now you have stock recovery and can make stock ota update correctly.
Hope all will take right way, feel free to ask.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

Hello again
thanks for your help, your guide is really useful
One more thing (excuse me for my little knowledge about this) I don't know what's the exact firmware for my phone, I mean I know it is VNS-L21 and should end B3xx but don't know which C... (I didn't check before the cellphone started to bootloop).
I search around the web and found some recommend the C432 one so I download the update.zip from it, would it have any problem if I flash the recovery from there?
And last thing, Can I flash recovery with P9 lite Toolkit? or just through adb? thanks in advance.

it's wrote at the bottom. ( maybe L23 one ? )
Try to someway backup your stuff then
reboot with vol+ and power button to recovery, tap WIPE then SWIPE to factory reset.
If boot correctly see inside wich is your complete firmware.
C432 are for european area devices, teoratically should work, but will not risk...
Recovery.img can be easily be flashed with toolkit, i used it a lot of times...

Hey dude
You really know about this, I'm sure because I updated the phone to Nougat before unlock and root it, time after an update came but I ignore it (I know it was a security updated not sure which one).
Yes, I just checked my phone in the backpart and it is L23, my bad, when you say branded it means if it is related to a phone/internet company? No, it is not tied to any company, I bought it free from internet.
I really don't care about backing up, if it starts from zero or is back to previous stage is fine for me since it can turn on and use it .
Cheers!

OK, since from first time i saw this post i thinked was a hardware problem, hope no....
You have to reboot to recovery holding vol+ and power button until a recovery will appear.
Then make a factory reset as already wrote in previous post.

Hi there
Sorry for the late reply...
I managed to turn on the phone updating it through dload method (installing stock kernel and trying to update it with erecovery didn't work) without your help I wouldn't know how to to download the right firmware for my phone. Now, my phone is working "properly".
BUT my phone show a new update, when I tried to install it, it says "your device fail verification and may not work properly" and won't install the update, after that if I reboot the phone it will show your device... sign in red letters and won't turn on without choosing continue (when I was using custom kernel, it will show some letters in orange I think, but will turn on by itself without pressing continue) when I installed the firmware through dload I didn't see that message till I try to update the phone.
Thanks in advance and a very happy new year!.

Dear forgive me, even for me English it's not my main language and maybe
i did not grab everything you posted. Did you use the dload method?
So you were on EMUI 4 / android 6, but now? If I understand correctly when you turn
on the device, see the red lines and press the power button to boot into the system?
If so, unlock again the bootloader.
If you want to post some screenshots so as to simplify ...
Best regards

Hey dude,
Don't worry about replying soon or late,
we all have our personal stuff to do in our lifes...
You' ve been lucky you don't bricked your device using dload method
on your nougat/android 7 rom version.
This is allowed only to downgrade to a precedent android version (in your case android 6/Marshmallow...)
Even it says your bootloader is unlocked, it isn't, so backup your stuff and unlock it again.
Once unlocked, factory reset will start. When finished do wipe cache too...
Booting into the system will now show yellow (not red) lines and after a bit will automatically boot.
Will take some minutes... ( prepare a coffee )
Set up your phone and look forward for updates...
If all will take right direction, new update will completely lock the bootloader
and at the reboot no yellow or red lines will appears. :fingers-crossed:
Voilà, complete stock with latest firmware.
Take your coffee and enjoy
Best regards
P.S.: Remove or obscure the screenshot with imei codes ( it's sensitive datas )

Hey man,
there is no problem for the PM but it's always better to create (if not asked yet)
or post help requests on an existing thread ...
This way everyone can see that you need.
Or use @ to quote someone and call them back the attention ...
As I have already written in other posts I do not have anymore the P9 lite as I sold it.
Soon I will not even have the P10 lite anymore and I will not attend often this thread ...
Let's see now what can be done, it seems almost a desperate case ....
Unfortunately, the magic wand does not work and I can not do magic so you have to help me.
Which version of TWRP did you use?
Are you 100% sure that the android version was NOUGAT when you tried to root the device?
In which region of the world do you live? (serves for the regional version of the firmware),
but I think you could also use other versions (by rebranding) ...
Single or dual sim?
Can you access the system?
Boots in TWRP?
Does fastboot / bootloader mode work?
Dear answer these questions and "maybe" with a few days
we can bring it back to life .... I said maybe ...
Regards
