Hi @ all
I recently updated to Android Oreo without doing a hard reset. As I had problems with my battery life I decided to do a hard reset and I reinstalled all my apps. While the battery problem seems to be gone now, I encountered another issue: I set the color for the LED notificiation for Whatsapp to blue but it always shows me a purple light. Doesn't matter which color i choose, it always stays purple. All the other apps work fine, just Whatsapp having this problem with the LED color. There was also a Whatsapp update recently, so I don't know if it is because of Oreo or the new Whatsapp version. But I know that before the hard reset the LED and Whatsapp worked fine.
Is anyone facing the same issues with Whatsapp?

Since the latest update I have been unable to receive LED notifications. Before the update I had:
1. Blue LED flashing for Touchdown Exchange messages
2. Yellow for incoming SMS
3. Green for pushed pop or gmail
4. Red for missed call
These seemed default as I didn't set these up specifically. I liked this arrangement. I should note that I use GoSMS Pro as my SMS client.
To remedy my new lack of LED notifications, I've attempted a few applications from the market, specifically called Light Flow, even trying the "test mode" to cause dancing LEDs. It did not fix this problem. I've also tried a dancing LED/disco LED apps from the market, with no blinking LEDs.
The only LED I get now is when I plug in to charge, a green LED.
Has anyone seen this or have any ideas on how to remedy this issue? I really liked being able to see what was flashing and get an idea on the source of the beep, it would help me decide if I should ignore it without even unlocking the phone.

I haven't had this happen at all. Mine still give the correct LED notifications that it always has.
If you are on stock firmware, have you considered a factory reset? It's the only thing I can think of and might narrow down the problem. If you do the reset and it continues to persist than it isn't an issue with the OS but instead either the hardware or an app.
Thank you for your reply.
I have been extremely hesitant to do a factory reset. I use my phone primarily for work purposes (although it is rooted), it's loaded down with QuickOffice files and Touchdown is all configured the way I like it. A reset really has to be a last resort.
I do remember I had installed youmail and this notification thing happened shortly after. I have uninstalled that application but the LED notifications haven't returned.
Strange issue.

Strange indeed. I wish I could say something else that would help, but I can't. If you end up doing a factory reset, get titanium backup and backup all the files, use SMS backup+ to backup all the messages to your gmail account, and then just copy all the files over to the PC or a new SD card.
The factory reset should only take an hour at most to recover from if you take precautions and back up everything prior to it.
If you want to root and enable sideloading after the reset, you will need to use Gingerbreak. If you do this, make certain your external card is not in when this happens and that you have no data stored on the internal card as it will erase the internal card.
Hi Darrell,
I have purchased Titanium Backup Pro, I have used it in the past to freeze and unfreeze applications. I have never been successful however in backing up and restoring program data. I'll scour the net some more looking for a solution before/if I do a reset. If I find anything I will post it in this thread.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I need some advice. I bought a Derfy a couple of weeks ago, everything is fine, except the notification led. It lights up blue right when I insert the battaery, and remains active, no matter what I do. If I get a notification, it flashes purple-blue.
I checked the indicator, it seems that no water reached the phone. I cannot find a hardware issue.
Does anyone have an idea, what this thing should be? Not a big problem, but it's irritating.
do You have stock rom or not?
I use stock software now, but tried with many custom builds, the blue led stayed.
For the past two days the notification light hasn't turned off no matter what I do. I used the Light Flow app to figure out the problem, I turned of the led notification light in settings, I've been installed a new ROM and bootloader with a clean install but nothing has worked.
Not only is this a problem but also downloading apps, updates and files in general don't even work without resetting the phone, and ironically notifications now don't even vibrate or make any noise, which I think has to do with the constant light blinking. On a side note Google Play Services doesn't function or sync properly.
This issue has been quite bothersome, especially since the clean wipe and install doesn't solve this issue., although I did backup/restore all of my non-system apps via Titanium Backup.
If anyone could help me figure out the problem I'd greatly appreciate it!
As title,
Anyone having this issue when your first notification blink is red and follow by your designated led color ?
Install Lightflow and still the same issue. Try the battery saver mode on 5% and is still the same. Toggle with most settling and get the same result. Was wondering does it due to some software setting in the phone when the phone battery drop to a certain percentage and will trigger the red led ?
Anyone ?
Same here but everything else works great.. not a big deal for me.

Yeah.. but just super paranoid. And very sure is a software issue hope they will solve it on the next update.

I just found the exact same bug/issue on my Galaxy S7 (non-edge). I found at least in my case its not always red for the first blink, and in some shades of blue it first does a red blink, then a pale green blink and from there on out blue.. It's definately a strange thing. You can use the app LED tester to try different settings easily. I hope its a simple software bug that will be fixed soon and not a hardware issue. I wonder how common this is?
There are at least two topics about this, it's normal. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3338648

About the notifications led, does somebody knows if the color depends on the last notifications you get? I explain: if I get a what's app message which has a blue color and then I get a telegram message which has a green color, what kind of color will have the led? Because sometimes it seems to blink with last notification's color, sometimes it doesn't.

After I update my Xiaomi Mi A1 with the Android Pie patch (December 5, 2018), the led notification light stops working. It does not light or even blink when there is a notification. The led light only works when charging. Does anyone also experience this? Is there any settings I need to adjust because of the update. Thanks for the help!
Here no problems with notification light (build V10.0.3). Working as usual.
Having the same problem, I am thinking of resetting the phone to check
Edit: Even after resetting, it is not blinking, only while charging !
Suddenly, in the status bar, time is shown as 9:00 and battery 100%, a reboot fixed them !

Hi, a few months ago after the update led notification also did not work for me. But next update fixed it. It was on android one 8.1. So, since notifications have disappeared after the update, in my opinion, you have to wait for fixes.
No problem here
Notification LED works for me in PKQ1.180917.001.V10.0.3.0.PDHMIFK (Pie) as in Oreo. I just updated without FR.
