Well,
My Lepro 3 has a very very strange problem :
Everything started Monday : it was at 20% and he just switched off, and then did 0 sign of life for like 4 hours (it was charging, but no led, etc..). After those 4 hours, the red light started blinking but still. And after 1 hour, I was able to boot (he had 10%). I decided to reset the rom, however, there was no way to get the phone recognized by my computer. I then decided to go to sleep and to charge to 100% the phone. Of course, nothing changed. And i even realized something worst : it takes like 5-6 hours to get to 100%, and it was 1h30 before.
FURTHERMORE : my lepro 3 isnt recognized on any PC, and neither in fastboot mod.
PLUS :
- when switched off, he won't power ON if i plug him to usb/sector.
- when powered on, he will vibrate TWICE when plugged to usb/sector : charging for 1 sec, then not charging for one sec, and then charging (like if he was trying to fast-charge, fails, and then switched to low-speed-charging
- when switched off, i sometimes need to press power for 10sec+ to get him booting
- I tried different cables
- tried usb debugging on/off
I don't know what i can try.. the only way seems to reset it with adb-wireless by pushing him a new rom but well..
I think it is a problem with my USB-C port (lepro 3 side) and i guess it is not using fast charging anymore
However, my headphones (usb-c) still work
Thanks in advance...
PS : I forgot to mention that i am running with Cydras Google-like rom 0.20S
I would switch to see makes a difference I have used that ROM without issue

Well I don't really know how to change the rom with no USB access.. Dunno if adb wireless is safe
Moreover, since the phone doesn't power up when off and plugged.. I guess the rom has nothing linked with this.. But maybe i'm wrong ! Could it be the kernel ?

i try to power it on : it vibrates one but doesnt boot
I need to unplug it and then to power it on
EDIT : I just managed to install twrp with flashify, but i would like to know if it will be useful to install a new rom or if it won't change anything....

Please read what I've already tried
You recommended a new rom : i said i already tried
You asked for debugging mod : i said i already tried
You asked for a different cable : i said i already tried
But still thanks for your help
EDIT : With the new rom (AICP 7.1.2) it's even worst : doesn't even charge when android booted, the only way to make it charging it to boot in recovery mod and to plug it

Yeah I tried..
It sounds like your usb card is fried.
I had this exact issue 2 months ago, I was lucky that the vendor exchanged it for a brand new phone.
It was probably fried by your usb cable. See if you can exchange the phone under warranty. Ask the vendor that you purchased it from, to honor the warranty, since contacting Leeco is difficult. Worst case, you will need to replace the USB card, its about $10.
VYeah, i guess it's the USB card... But there are two problems :
- its pretty Hard to disassemble a lepro 3
- i think that the original pro3 USB card comes with the vibrer, the speaker, and the microphone, and i didnt find any USB card with all of this on aliexpress...
He is no longer under warranty (15months vs 12)
Edit : another strange effect is that on cydras's ROM, the phone actually charges when powered on (but slow). On AICP 7.1.2, it juste says "plugged, not charging" when powered on

You are either bricked or its your battery, if bricked and the computer doesn't recognise the phone it still might recognise the port

Hey tsongming i have read quite a lot of posts from you in the last few days before commenting, i already tried before hand everything you said to get my phone detected by my computer and it still dosent get detected:
- tried multiple computers
- multiple cables
- and just in case, different driver versions.
Tried it all except the EDL Amazon cable you recommended in another one of your posts.
I have read that if i can't get it detected then theres nothing i can do.. which would suck.
ATM i have google pixel, beforehand i had AICP which worked really horrible on battery issues and would sometimes crash it. I have been using stock cable for 2 years which as i've read it the past few days is a terrible a ideia, and stock charger but as you say and qualcomm, i also believe its ok.
At this time i believe the problem might be a burned USB Card or the Battery itself bugging out(?) but since it charges when turned off (e.g: charged for 8 hours in supercharge to 84% =S), im clueless.
Since you said that you had the same issue on one of your Leeco, anything else you can recommend for me to try?
P.S: its worth noticing, i can Fastboot, Recovery to TWRP and turn it on, if indeed bricked i would call it a soft brick i guess..

If you can boot to Fastboot and Recovery, Then its not bricked. Your software is probably corrupted from a power spike or short. Its possible that your issue is just the USB card, which you can find for under $10, on Alibaba, Ebay and even Amazon.
Note that when you remove the screen do not use a Hairdryer to heat up the glue, there is way too much glue! You will need to briefly use a heat gun , and the screen will slide off with ease, the display and battery connectors are the lego type.. There are demonstration videos on Youtube.
Since you are removing the screen, you might as well replace the battery while your at it ( It should not cost more than $12)
If you want to buy a Backup LCD they are about $18 to $25 . ( definitely, recommend since there is a good chance of breaking the LCD, that you currently have)
If you order the screen, remove your LCD screen first to make sure that you order the correct one. They come with either black or yellow Flex cables ( not sure why) But if you have yellow obviously order yellow.
Make sure that the USB card is all inclusive and includes the chips, you are better off to spend a few dollars more for the better quality board. Sometimes the cheap ones come with missing chips for quick charge and CDLA ( Read the reviews)
Good Luck.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this, you can find Leeco Repair with a Google Search, or you can use TaoBao to get a "guaranteed fix", for really cheap. ( Even if its the motherboard ) They replace components and resolder) I doubt its the motherboard, but it's possible. In my case, I fried the motherboard and the phone still came on , but would not boot to system, also the screen was very pixelated.

After months of no problems yesterday I plugged my phone in for its nightly charge and noticed that it did not trigger the usual USB mount prompt.
I assumed it was Windows, but I have a bunch of machines and operating systems so I checked and they all has the same result. I switched out cords and did a complete power reset (taking battery out) no change.. The Phone charges through the USB but the computers say "unrecognized usb device" and cannot mount the phone as a drive and the phone does not offer the option as it used to???
I don't recall getting any sort of update that might have related to this?
This is the original T-mobile version
This happens to me all the time. However a restart of my phone and computer solves the issue.

How do you do that without USB connectivity?
It is very frustrating, maybe a hardware fail? I see just enough post relating to the issue that makes me know it is real but not sure how to resolve,, Do we have to go to Best Buy? or is there a direct Samsung route?
This too happens to me. Whenever I plug it into my laptop on the top USB slot, it doesn't recognize it. If I plug it in on the bottom USB slot, it does. Not sure why. This, however, is only the case if I'm using a different USB cable than the one that came with the phone itself. Once again, not sure why.
Perhaps you are using an alternative USB? Or plugging in on the top? Not sure how I can help you more than that, sorry. Hope you find a fix!

Using official OEM cable that came with the phone. And, again, USB worked fine until I manually installed 2.3.4.
Well It is off to Samsung for repair
After time on phone with them and a factory reset belief is that the usb connector is defective. BTW Best Buy just hands off to Samsung 1-800 #
So Back to a barely functional G-1 for a while, glad I could find it!

Recently started happening to me, needed to transfer some files off, had to resort to dropbox etc.. rebooted phone+computer ,still not working.
Came good a few days later using same equipment, same cable,
Mysteriously fixed itself ?
Searched the whole forum but couldn't find a solution. It was bricked after gingerbreak method of rooting and suddenly restarted itself. Now, all i can see is just the red dual core motorola bootlogo. It doesn't pass that screen either it doesn't restart itself. Stuck on the bootlogo till the battery is depleted.
It can't enter RSD nor Fastboot mode so can't be detected by the pc. This is the atrix of my friend, i have mine working normally, so no battery problem here.
Any suggestions and ideas are very welcome.
Thanks.
Pull the battery for restart & see if you can enter RSD mode immediately upon turning it back on???

Sounds terrible... brick before bootloader finishes? Holding volume-down or up gives nothing? It is very unlikely that Gingerbreak could do anything like this. Unless your friend flashed a rogue bootloader, baseband, or bad .sbf, I think maybe you have a hardware problem.. sucks they will not do the return-ship to USA for you. Maybe ask Crnkoj about this, he has asked Moto re: some exchanges from EU.. (not sure if they were more helpful tho)
As always, I would 'watch' (linux command) 'lsusb' (another linux command) to see if the device ever appears when plugged in, if there is a chance you could still sbf flash it.. but I am doubtful.
You know that i can try anything to debrick this broken beast. Wide open to try anything. I am not fond of linux but the lsusb command, how do i do that ?
And yes, it's very strange but gingerbreak method bricked this phone. Didn't brick mine or others tho. It was never used and working great before the rooting process. Not sure what my friend did but in the end, phone is brick. He didn't apply baseband or other flashes, too.
Hi,
You said you depleted the battery, that would be one reason the phone isn't detected by a pc. Have you tried charging the battery? You could probably do a battery swap and charge his in your phone.
If that doesn't fix it then you can always do up a factory cable and run the phone off your pc. It's just a male to male with regular usb on one end and micro B on the other, hack the micro end to tie pin 4 to vcc. If you didn't get what I just said, don't try it.
Get into rsd mode by holding down the volume up button when you turn it on. Reflash using a sbf. There is nothing gingerbreak is doing to brick your phone.
Cheers!
I will try that and inform the result, thanks.

Bypassing the battery is just so you can use rsdlite to flash a firmware without the battery being an issue.
Cheers!
I am not to knowledgable in this are (great way to start a post huh) but I recall someone before having a similar problem and was not able to have it detected by the pc but was able to get linux to see the phone?

I've sent the phone to motorola office in Turkey, i hope they can fix it, otherwise it will visit USA again.
Last week when I plugged my USB cable into my phone, it acted normal. The screen where it asks me if I want to connect USB came up, and I said yes. Everything was normal. It was baller.
Today, that doesn't happen. The screen doesn't come up and all the USB cable does is charge my phone, much like the wall plug does.
I've tried to install USB drivers, but they always require me to find "Android" in Device Manager, and it's never in there. The USB cable is doing nothing but charging my phone.
I managed to add a few mp3s over wifi, just to make sure that was actually working.
The phone is not rooted, (I was actually just going to try to do that) and everything is stock aside from a few apps.
I would really like some insight on this, please.
Do I need to get the phone replaced? Am I doing something wrong?
OK, I new to this, but thought I'd comment. If USB debugging is turned on, my seems to do that.

Wow, you're right. My HTC cord worked. Thanks a lot.
I have had this happen on to me and have determined that a) the long cable that came with the NS4G is unreliable when used for USB connectivity with my PC. Shorter cables (even the shorter Samsung cable that came with my Epic) work consistently. I am guessing that this is a USB Bus power issue and some people will have better mileage than others using the stock cable, depending on their PC.
b) on a few occasions, it seems I've somehow borked the PC's USB controller and the PC wouldn't recongnize anything until I rebooted it.

Was your phone rooted at any point before the issue? Not sure if they would fix it under warranty for me. I will call Samsung and see.
Thanks, I tried that but no luck. Still need to tried other cords. Also.
My phone developed this problem a couple days ago. I haven't done much to troubleshoot it...figured the port must be damaged.

It might be the port. I will have to get a samsung cable and try it, but i doubt it will help. Plus i can tell Samsung I tried everything. (I looked a ticket, but they said get a samsung cord, they don't trust the Palm Pre cord i am using).
I had to downgrade to the HTC Hero until i get the phone fixed.
Guys, Need your help. You are my last hope !
Just bought an i9505 to a guy, via internet... I know it's risky... The guy was saying the phone got stuck after he had a power cut (his PC shut down) during a Kies update., but that the phone was able to go to download mode.
So I thought it would be easy to flash.
The bad surprise was when I received the phone : nothing happens, no sign of life. No sign when pluging the charger, no sign when trying to boot whatever mode I select, no vibration, no sound, no nothing... I even tried a Jig USB dongle that I had purchased a few years ago for my i9000 : nothing.
I contacted the seller who pretends I broke it as he checked again the download mode before sending me the phone.
I tend to believe he is saying the truth as he could simply have not responded.
Is there any experiment I should do ? I read that getting the battery off and pressing Power for 30 sec might help... Did not work either...
Any other ideas ???
Thanks
Edit: oops sorry, this thread should have been created in the "Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting" section... Moderator... could you please move it there ? Sorry...

Thanks ph0n3n3rd. Trying right now, but not real hope as I have another S4 with a fully charged battery which I already tried with no success.
I also have tried charging the original battery for hours today both from my laptop and from and external battery (branded Anker) which usually charges even faster than the wall charger...
Also one of the first things I tried when I received the phone without being able to boot it was to try the other way : the new phone's battery in the old S4. And it booted. The new phone's battery was about 40%...

Ok. Just a thought . Then I think you have been conned with a dead phone.

Yep... I read a RIFF box could help... Do you know what it is ?
BTW, the wall charger did not help (i got it plugged for about 10 minutes).
type in google some like "repair boot i9505 via sd card"
If the pc can recognize the phone then this might be useful.

Hi GDReaper, thanks for the link. I had actually seen it yesterday. I have installed (this was not easy as I was getting an error when try to install the .inf files) the QHUSB drivers... in the hope that this would help the PC not only recognize, but detect (!) the phone. Indeed the phone is not even detected by windows : no sound, no "drivver installation message", nothing that I can see in the Device Manager. And the phone too does not show any sign of connection to the PC...
THe guy who sold me this phone keeps telling me he could go to download mode just before sending it to me. He is even getting pissed off and pretends i'm a liar...

Unless it somehow got damaged during transport, then he is the one who is most probably lying.
You will have to take it in for service if you can't get a refund. I doubt it can be fixed without any specialized equipment.

Hi bes1de, thanks. I can only find this one : http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f777/hot-hot-easy-repair-boot-samsung-s4-i9500-via-sd-card-1693343/ for now but this is for i9500.
BTW... I realize the phone does not seem to be an i9505 but an i9515 ! I got confused because of this : View attachment 3654348
As you can see, the sticker shows i9515 but the "housing" is i9505...
The SIM card reader also shows i9505 : View attachment 3654337
And... the charge flex cable shows i9500 (yet another S4 model !) : View attachment 3654338
Do you think Samsung uses parts from different phones like that ? Or that the seller kind of rebuilt a "phone" from various parts found here and there ?
I'd like to be able to test the parts of this dead phone to see if I can sell it as parts.
I was thinking to tear down my own personal S4 (i9505 perfectly working) and use its motherboard to test the dead phone's screen.
I read that the LCD is different...
Do you think I might break my i9505 motherboard trying to connect it to the i9515 display ?...
Edit: OK I did it ! Installed my personal S4 motherboard into the dead one in order to check the display, the buttons (incl. touch ones) and the USB/charge port : all is fine. The PC detects ad recognizes it, so the USB connector and its flex cable are fine.
I could now swap the cameras, the proximity sensor, the SIM and SDcard readers and see if they are OK...
Edit 2: Loud speaker works fine too.
Thanks and regards !

Edit: Anyone used the SBoot clip here ?
As far as I understand it only works with Exynos phones, so not for my i9515. Any information about that ?
Thanks

Unfortunately, you may have fried a component on the usb board.
This can happen if you have the usb c inserted in the phone and then plug the A side into the power block.
You can order a new card here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162671342875?ul_noapp=true If you live near a large city you should be a to find a cell repair shop that can install it for you, should cost more then $50 to $60 dollars or you can send your phone to these guys for repair for probably close to the same price http://leecoservicecenter.com/
Perhaps you can get the usb to computer working by trying this: ( worked for me)
Make sure that your computer is up to date with its usb drivers.
shut down the computer and remove all peripherals, keep unplugged except for keyboard and mouse.
restart
Boot your phone into recovery, and plug your usb cable into one of the computers primary usb ports: usually in the back.
Wait to see if your computer recognises the device.
If it doesn't and you use Windows go to Device Manager
In the Start menu, right-click Computer | Manage, then expand Computer Management on the console tree and select System Tools | Device Manager
In the Start menu, right-click Computer Properties, then click Device Manager on the left pane
Control Panel | Device Manager
Control Panel | Hardware and Sound | Device Manager
Look for the usb card. see if your device is listed there, and update the drivers. Heres a step by step : https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-fix-unknown-devices/
Try multiple cords, and another computer if needed.
It's also possible that the board is temporarily disabled.
Since your phone still charges, the reverse polarity protection that is programmed into the chips have shut down certain components. Perhaps the phone is not actually damaged. But in a protection mode.
Try letting your battery go completely dead, use it until it shuts down, keep restarting it until it has no power left.
With all power removed from the battery, the reverse polarity protection should reset and your next charge and hopefully the phone will be back to normal.
I hope this helps.
Well, this is worrying news. I wonder how common this issue is, or what it's caused by--a bad non-Benson approved cable? A bad USB-C port? Cements the fact that it's safer to use a USB-C to USB-C cable (provided your computer has a USB-C port) rather than a USB-C to USB-A one... now I miss Micro USB's simplicity.

Have you try boot into Fastboot mode? Hold Power button + Volume down and connect phone to pc with type-c cable.
I have Le Max2 x829, Le Pro3 x720,x722 never have any issue, I bought phone from Bangood, x720 locally.

Yes, the the X720 and the X727 are identical, the difference is the firmware.
So a board advertised as X720 will work.

There is still hope: You haven't had the chance to retry once the battery is fully discharged, it may work.
I used to work for Apple Support and I have personally used that as a solution, many times to resolve open support cases. With iPhones that had the exact same issue.
After it's all sorted out. Be sure to buy high quality replacement cables that come with a warranty. I replaced all of the usb c cables my house with new ones that are IF certified. i read about others having this exact issue months ago and I procrastinated.
Hopefully, it works out.
What build twrp do you have?
You can reformat your twrp this fix your USB problem.

If have experience building computers, or have ever replaced a broken lcd to screen you may consider replacing the board yourself.
Hers a video that shows how its done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0oC4nPMXzM

Are you serious!
The point was to demonstrate how easy it is, with a high quality video. Next, anyone who's ever taken these phones apart knows the steps are similar, and opening the phone with a heat gun while not damaging anything, obviously crucial.
If you read the entire post you would had noticed the link for the LeEco? See we know what's inside now.... Pretty much the same layout.
Not only is the interior is very similar. The G6 and the x727/x720 have similar specs.
I am actually doing this repair myself on one of my Le pro 3s as soon as the board arrives.
But, I don't have the time or the motivation to make a video when plenty exist.

Nice find! Although also not the same phone, it's still virtually the same steps.
Go for it dude. It's not that hard as long as you are careful. Make sure you get the right sealant for resealing it back together.
You can also use double sided tape :https://www.amazon.com/Eco-Fused-Adhesive-Sticker-Phone-Repair/dp/B00BXYWXV6

If they that experience I say go for it .
That like giving a person a truing tools and say go for 9 out of 10 will mess up their wheels.

You obviously ignored all of the previous posts in which provided all of those caveats. I.E. using a local service provider, or the 3rd party LeEco service site that I provided the link for, among all of the other warnings that I provided in my multiple posts!
Understand, I am actually trying to help someone, and not simply waiting by to make a comment on post that I disagree with. No, I have better things to do.
By the way what valuable service did you provide ? You have repaired so many phones, why not offer your services to fix it for the OP. While you cannot solicit the OP in a post you could PM him.
We both have decades of experience, so what!
I do not provide 3rd party service, on phones.
But, I am willing to do is provide reasonable advice. Buts make it clear, anyone who has experience with component level repair and troubleshooting will understand that this is far from being difficult.
Disassemble the phone, disconnect the wires, insert new USB card, reassemble everything Honestly, my 13 year old daughter could do this. But, she did grow up in a technical environment.
As far as I can ascertain, an important aspect of XDA is sharing information and helping others. Is this why you sign in?
At the end of the day, I don't know you or your history. If you have a long posting history of being helpful and providing expert guidance then please accept my apologies, if I offended you.
I enjoy helping others, it's what I do for a living.
By the way, my answers was also intended as advice for Aegile
