Mele F10 Deluxe on Foster with LineageOS 15.1 installed. Anyone else? - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I didn't realize that LineageOS 15.1 was Android TV OS, until today. So I installed it and just wow, it has a Android TV like UI, the normal Android TV Play Store and and feels like ATV, but is MUCH faster.
However, after setting it up how I like I noticed my Mele F10 Deluxe remote volume buttons do not work as before, I mean no smooth volume levels, just off or max volume. No normal volume level going up and down and no volume indicator as before. The ROM feels far superior so I really do not want to go back to stock.
ANYONE know how to work around this, or have the same issues and know how to edit the remote control files deep in the system files or something? Thanks

What would be needed to get volume control support?

My Tv remote has been lost for ages, and my G4 doesnt have it in its database for quickremote app. When all I used was chromecast I could control the volume amplification via the phone, but nexus player has nothing of the sort. A ludicrous exemption in my opinion. Anywho, what would be necessary to get volume control working via volume keys (on connected keyboard or anything else with volume keys)? Is it a kernel change or would only a mod need to be created?

I was looking into this myself it seems to be something with the audio hal ... I believe. I made an app that would change the volume on my phone my girls phone and some others I have lying around but won't work on the nexus player. I have a samsung device so I can use peel smart remote don't know if it's available on a g4 (it is in the play store though). Twinone is a pretty good remote I used for quite a while.
My son lost mine. Little guy grabbed it took off thought I would find later and never did. R.I.P westinghouse remote

Return to stock

I recently took the plunge and rooted and installed CM 12.1. Some things are not working such as voice search and netflix. How do I return to stock rooted?
Just flash a stock image from the Google factory image page. Then root. I had to use stock 5.1.1 until they fix the black level problem in marshmallow. Can't take the grayish blacks in 6.0.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Have they still not fixed the black level or voice in Marshmallow? Oh dear, I'll stay on 5.1.1 then.
While i'm here talking about fixes. Has anyone figured out a way to disable the fixed volume in the stock roms so that you can change the volume of the nexus player when you chromecast or use a remote with volume control? Like a Nvidia Shield for example.
for me netflix is working on cm 12.1. just installed it from leanback playstore.
the problem with controlling volume is pretty annoying. even with cm where volume is not fixed I can only change it in kodi. so when watching netflix or tv over nexus player there is no option to change volume. So i have to use a second remote just for change volume or open kodi and change the volume.

Horizontal UI and extended Volume Control

Hello guys. I hope you can help me out on that one.
I recently added various ROMs, MODs and APKs to my rooted Galaxy S8(950F) and everything worked fine more or likely. So I once tried to flash my Camera and guess what, I fu**ed the whole thingy up leaving me without a camera and flashlight. No problemo though; Hard-reset is on the way, I thought.
There was a patch which enabled my phone to directly control Volume on my Bluetooth Speaker. (Apple Iphones can control them by default.) It's a feature I've searched for so long, working just perfect before my hard reset. Alongside to this mod my UI switched to a costum horizontal state if provoked. Looked kinda sexy.
So I hard-reset my galaxy, root, costom ROM, fixed the camera and successfully patched it. Yet I can't direct control Volume anymore and there's no sign of a horizontal Userinterface. I spend like a week searching for MODs to patch; without success! I am searching in xda Forums for a while now without progress.
I did use PowerAmp alongside its settings to enable direct Volume Control. Using "OpenSL ES" for audio output. In Settings > Developeroptions > I did set up AVRCP 1.4, aptX, 44,1 kHZ, 16 BpS, Stereo, optimized for audio quality. It did work before my hard reset.
Any Ideas? Any help greatly appreciated!!

Audio/Volume issues

Hello folks,
I've got a Fire HD 8 (7th gen). Originally I've had this issue where my volume fluctuates for some unknown reason, so I did a hard reset hoping it would help.
It didnt... but I got to playing around and kind of stumbled upon something.
If I played music on Pandora at max system volume, it was still pretty quiet. However if I open Silk browser and navigate to a youtube video, without playing it, my Pandora volume would skyrocket.
Then, I closed all my apps and tried Amazon music instead. Volume was nice and loud.
Conclusion? My theory is that Amazon intentionally boosts the volume of their native services/apps in an effort to be anti competitive. What's the best way for people to listen to your music? Make it louder than everyone else's!
My question to the community: has anyone stumbled upon an app/process that would contribute to such behavior? The general answer people get to volume issues is to "Download a volume boosting app", but I TRUELY think that this is just sabotage on Amazon's part, and possibly something that can be fixed with or without root.
Thanks again.
I have the same Issue with my Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet 7th Gen.
I have an Anker Soundcore mini and the Sound is not stable, because it looks like it goes up and down and sometimes when youtube plays next video, the sound get off, connection get lost.
So my Question is is there anyone they have it too and can fix the issue?
I have also the Issue with the volume it goes down and up and off.
So anyone a Solution?
I have contact Anker by himself, but the Company says, the Issue is maybe on the Tablet only. Because the Chipset is about 95 % Compatible to the Devices on the Market.

This really isn't what I'm looking for. This isn't a volume booster problem.

Amazon's apps are nice and loud. Most non-Amazon apps are low and quiet.
A volume booster app is a band-aid on a much bigger, much more obvious issue.
There is something it the system intentionally boosting the volume for Amazon music, Silk, and anything else, - or - something in the system lowering the volume for non-amazon apps.
I'm trying to bring light to a blatant case of anti-competitiveness and a more permanent solution.

Does official LineageOS affect the in-built speaker sound quality?

Since there is no objective way to measure speaker sound quality, I cannot tell for sure but, it kin of feels that the speaker quality is worse with the official LineageOS ROM when compared to the official Samsung ROM. I have turned off the equaliser and the Dolby Atmos in the settings.
Does anyone else who use LineageOS ROM feel the same thing, or am I wrong?
Yes. But recent version has improved it. Still not bassy and rich sounding tho.

That's a shame. Does speakers need a proprietary driver? I wonder what is causing this.
After installing the latest (September) update, I could not feel any sound improvement. So, I reverted the tablet to the stock ROM today. After the initial setup is done, I immediately played the same song that I had played on LineageOS, and yes, it sounded much better.
I had installed LineageOS because it was version 12.1 (12 enhanced for tablet, as far as I know) and Samsung stopped the official ROM at 11. But frankly, I could not find any useful tablet features in 12.1. I at least expected a volume slider (like the one on iPad), but no. The only thing that was remotely useful was double-tap status bar to turn the screen off, but that was LineageOS's feature, not Android 12.1's. Android 11 is still very useable, so I guess I am just going to use the stock ROM. I use tablets mostly for media consumption so bad speaker sound was just not bearable.
Let this be warning to future people who want to install LineageOS. Do not install it unless you don't use internal speakers.
While I never used stock ROM, I noticed some speaker peculiarities while watching youtubes (on NewPipe). I tried to set my volume at a considerate level, not blaring which could annoy others nearby but loud enough to hear. When a speaker started talking in a low voice it inexplicably became completely inaudible. I could not understand what they were saying at all. Then it would get normal or too loud when the speaker spoke up. I had to turn the volume at annoying and unacceptable levels just to hear what was being said.
I tested the videos on another device with the same version of NewPipe and it was not an issue.
DOes anyone with cRdroid rom have this issue? I don't use it much for videos/audio so I don't care too much but reading this thread it seems to be an issue
If you want equalizer you need
PowerAmp Equalizer
It does all multimedia apps but games not yet.

A bit off topic, but I don't think Google has implemented anything particularly useful in Android in a few major versions.

I have been using crDroid 8.10 and I do notice the volume fluctuates, someone in a post said he thought it was magisk 25. I'm not sure yet I'm still looking into it.
