I didn't want to release it for Mobile because of the nature app and the fact that the majority of windows 10 mobile users are going to be left behind since the anniversary update will be unsupported in the next update.
Feel free to keep adding mobile support though.

[Q] windows phone 8

Hi does anybody know anything about the progress of porting windows phone 8 to the hd2? I know its not out yet but I'm wondering if its going to be as easy to put wp7 on.
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
windows 8 hang about - Windows Phone 7.5 "Mango" hasnt officially been released yet has it?
not sure what people make of this though.. taken from appleinsider.com
In its first significant update, Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform is introducing a new layer of app version complexity for developers and users that offers a glimpse of how both it and Windows 8 will differ from Apple's existing iOS and Mac App Stores.
Windows Phone "Mango" 7.5 introduces new features for Microsoft's smartphone platform, but developers won't be able to simply offer an update to their apps to take advantage what's new in the same model that Apple's iOS app developers have over the past four versions of Apple's mobile OS.
Instead, Microsoft asks developers to distribute two different versions of their apps: the existing 7.0 version for existing phones, and a second 7.5 version for new phones and devices that can install the update once it becomes available through mobile carriers. Developers are encouraged to upload a 7.5 version by the end of October.
"Knowing that on average people update their apps every three to four months," the Windows Phone Developer Blog states, "this October timeframe provides assurance that you that you can submit 7.5 apps today and still have access to your 7.0 app well before the next update is required."
Once a 7.5 version app is published in the App Hub market, developers won't be able to fix bugs or add features to their existing 7.0 version. However, existing phone users also won't be able to run the new 7.5 version, as each major build of Windows Phone is tied to a matching app version. The WP7 market will display a list of app types for the users to select between, and users upgrading to 7.5 Mango will get updates telling them to download the new version of each app as it becomes available.

Windows 8.1 New Version or Big Update?

Hi,
is there something know if Windows Blue will be a new Version you need to buy, or if Microsoft brings Christmas forward and all Win 8 users get the new Update??
For PC it doesn't matter for me, i'll get the new 8.1 but for Surface??
Also it would be nice to know if a complete reinstalle is necessary.
Would be great if someone has some Information about this

I assume everyone gets the update if on Windows 8
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Almost surely it won't require a complete reinstall. The are going to bring back the Start Menu in a limited form. It will just be a link to the desktop and not include the full Start Menu. This follows a planned move: a boot to desktop option. Microsoft will add an option to allow users to boot directly to the traditional desktop.

That sounds great. I'm really looking forward to the 50:50 dock
8.1 is interesting. Per MS' new "devices & services" direction, it would've been a paid update in normal circumstances--as also denoted by the "8.1" designation, since only "service packs" were free updates under the old regime. But I agree with others that it'll be a free update, as circumstances are definitely not normal. Win8's foothold is tenuous at best, and the antipathy it has engendered would be nothing compared to the sh!tstorm that would occur if MS decides to charge for this one. I doubt even MS is that oblivious.
As for the "menu or button" thing, it's not cast in stone. We'll see what happens. It may seem a little amusing that such a trivial change is even debated over, but that is how delicately Metro's fate hangs in the balance.
I like the turmoil. Turbulence is good, as it rouses the monopolist and forces it to compete on other than sheer inertia (which there still is plenty of). That usually means a better widget or a better price, and either way the consumer wins.
It's safe to guess that Wintel toys will be cheaper come this holiday season. That would not happen if Win8 was a breakout hit. Thank Apple for its trailblazing, Android for its lowballing, and MS for its usual ineptness. Tomorrow is another fun day.

Not just Pro. Also RT.. But if you upgrade to 8.1 on your RT device you will lose your legacy apps meaning you would have to wait for another jailbreak for it.
Thanx

The update is greater than 9mb, the 9mb file from the store is just the installer, the installer then downloads something like a gb or so on top of that.

What's New in Windows Phone 8.1

This article describes key new features and improvements in Windows Phone 8.1.
"A must read" for all WP developers (but not a hackers of course )
There are lot of "tasty" features in WP 8.1; as for me, it sounds like a great platform improvement without having to upgrade hardware. Hope to get dev preview of WP 8.1 very soon
I've been looking all morning for this article...thanks.
Didn't the leaked SDK contain all this a few months ago?

Hi,
An post, talk already of Windows Phone 8.1, on XDA Portal.
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...tion-center-windows-to-bring-back-start-menu/
anaheiim, this topic is a little bit different. Article I've posted shortly describes new APIs for developers; it's not a discussion about user experience
P.S. Joke:
- Did you heard: Cortana will marry Siri?
- Are you kidding? It's not possible!
- No, it's possible in 17 states...

You are right, I did not see your link to MS dev blog in your first post.
Dev Preview of 8.1, will be released, of microsoft source during the first half of April.
And WPCentral source, announce April 14.
And for those who did not know (but I think you're all aware), the WP8.1 SDK is officially available in Release Candidate.

Yikes! This Windows Phone 8.1 Update seems to be a whole new OS with a ton of new features and improvements in UI and API.
Still didn't get: do they at MSFT plan to make the Update freely available through Windows Update to exiting Windows Phone 8 customers?

Yes! All Windows Phones can get updated to 8.1. It depends on when (and sadly, if) your carrier releases it. However if you want to get past that, you can just join the dev preview and it'll be downloadable sometime this month. Sources have been saying either the 10th or the 14th. So lookout

I thought MSFT had complete control over which devices get upgraded?
I saw in build conference that they had upgraded even the lowly 520 to 8.1!
Cheers!

I really thought they said (at build) that 8.1 preview was supposed to be available for download today 4/8.
They do. What part of @desolate1's post suggested otherwise? Join the dev preview program and get the update straight from Microsoft (as soon as it releases) while the bits are fresh!
It's only if you want to get it through your OEM and/or carrier that you'll need to wait, and risk disappointment. Reading comprehension, yo!

bug in Project Astoria, it is possible to run Android 5.0.2 on a Lumia device!

According to wmpoweruser.
Microsoft Windows 10 mobile update to Windows Phone brings with it a lot of new features to the OS, including a very controversial feature – the Android subsystem that allows Windows Mobile to run Android apps.
While a few people theorized that this could lead to security issues with Windows Phone which is as secure as Android is insecure Microsoft’s strict restrictions on the use of system APIs helped squash those fears. Today, WMPU learned from certain individuals that it is possible to install and run Android on a Windows 10 mobile device using a bug in the Android .
it is possible? n how?

None at all. I'd see some credibility if they had the instructions, but the latest build of W10M only is using Android 4.4.4.
