INFO & DISCUSSION: Google blocks Gapps - But there is a way out - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Guides, News, & Discussion

As per the following XDA link, Google is blocking access to all unofficial Gapps but in case required, there is a way out by registering your android ID/GSF ID at google servers
Details at following XDA link: https://www.xda-developers.com/google-blocks-gapps-uncertified-devices-custom-rom-whitelist/
EDIT 1:
Read the updated article regarding white listing of custom ROMs
EDIT 2:
In case, anybody is facing this issue, can follow the steps as mentioned in the below link.
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-fix-device-not-certified-by-google-error/
EDIT 3:
Update on thread: 'The webpage to register for an exemption has been updated, and inputting your Google Play Services Framework Device ID now works. The instructions have been updated to accommodate the changes.'

Even if I am rooted & Magisk is passing safety net check, play services show 'uncertified'. No impact/warning messages as of now
EDIT: This is just FYI ( //Aware of playstore cache trick )

As of now, Custom ROMs are whitelisted.

Yeah there was an update few hours back on the original thread . But in case blocked , people can quickly move on to world without Gapps

Do a clear data for play store and it should show up as Certified.

Yeah, last time I tried that, there was an issue with display of 'installed apps' list etc in playstore. So currently no impact coz of that.
Thanks for the tip though. Initiated this thread to discuss & pool in knowledge to minimize hoax/chaos/misunderstandings arising due to this notification.

The 100 limit will be an issue.

As per the comments in link thread, users are telling that its taking IMEI instead of GSF ID, so some more observations need to be taken but if its GSF ID then limit might be an issue.

I have read that you can use both, but it might be just a rumour. But shouldn't Google already be knowing our IMEI and device info and whether that IMEI has been registered with Google as a certified device already?
If you ask me, it's all pretty stupid. They don't need us to do this but want us to, so that people would hold back on rooting and stuff.

Resistance leads to changes . If there are any blockers related to this, people might tend to avoid gapps world altogether & it would be happen for good

Below are some possible download issues/solutions. These are from their troubleshooting site.
If a download you requested from the Android Market website never started on your device, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
Confirm that there is connectivity on your device (contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected)
If downloading a paid application, confirm that your credit card information is up to date by logging in your Google Checkout account
Make sure that your phone is logged into Google Talk by following these steps:
Go to your phone’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
If you’re already logged into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
Launch Talk again to sign in

It will go live very soon. Some can, some can't.
Beautiful though. Good sign of things to come.
Anyone else get "Invalid Request" after trying to sign in? It looks like a site error rather than a browser one. I get the same message from multiple browsers.

i got that from the main page, but then i clicked on an app to dl and it sent me to an actual login page. i didn't login cause i didn't actually want to dl the app, i was just checking, so it might work that way.

good find had no trouble signing in.
Very exciting!!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Tried again. Working now. Might have been the traffic / popularity of the site.
Not sure if you guys watched the honeycomb announcement, but it was amazing. Made me want a tablet, and donkey punch an ipad user.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is exciting about web access to the market? Is it supposed to be better than our regular market app?
The Hotness! Logged in. See all of my apps. Can download apps from the website will sync immediately into your phone!
Way to step up android!!
You can browse on your computer, then install the apps OTA, so to speak. Easier to link to apps you like, install them without taking the phone out of your pocket, for example, that kind of stuff. It's just more convenient in some situations.
Well, I just thought of something.... does it work with custom ROM's? I just downloaded something on the net, and it hasn't really downloaded on Bionix V. Maybe I should go on over to the Bionix V thread and ask.
Unfortunately, it is so pointless right now because it can't function correctly over wifi only* connection. It just lists it in my market place under "My Downloads" and not actually installing the application.
I am using wifi only, because 3g is cut off in my office building.

Well I'm pretty sure all developers keep the fingerprint as the old eclair build for proper regular market access. Obviously I have no idea if this website would react differently. Who's to say it's not just as problematic on stock builds though? It is a brand new site after all.
Edit: Well I tried it out for the fun of it. It shows the download trying to take place on my phone, but the progress bar does nothing. Then again, I get this fairly often with the regular market too.

The apk name is listed along with the packagename in the list. If you are unsure what things are safe to block/disable. There are plenty of people on the forum that would be willing to help you.
I did not see the package name so I will have run it again and read more carefully or try to change the size of that field.

Here's one thing to think about also, by accident I blocked the Google stock email , not the Gmail. I went back to unblock and I had to re-enter all my emails back again. So what I'm saying after a block and then an un-block it wipes the app. Did you expect that to happen or should I expect that to happen for most apps be turned back on?
Thanks

Android Device Manager "No Active Devices"

Hello,
Android Device Manager says I have "No Active Devices". I wan't to enroll in the open beta but obviously can't. I've googled this problem and none of the suggested solutions have worked for me. Running 100% stock on latest April 2016 build.
Help is greatly appreciated.

See if your device's visibility status is checked.
For the other person that I helped, didn't had his device displaying there. So he did a complete factory reset and started over, and thereafter his device got enlisted.

A user contacted me for the same issue. After he reflashed the stock firmware and logged his Google account into his device, the issue was resolved.
I am not sure if there is a particular cause for this, but it seems to be an issue only caused on firmwares shipped out-of-the-box.

So I signed up for a new Google account and logged in on the phone and it added it to the new account ADM instantly! So it isn't a problem with the phone but something to do with my Google account. I have posted a question to the Google Nexus product forum, hopefully I will find a solution.

I hope you do. Every few day, I see a new user with this problem, so hopefully Google will look into it.
I've had the same issue for months. It first started with my 6P, then I got a Nexus 9 and while using my main account there is no entry in device manager for it also.
For both devices other google accounts work fine, so I'm convinced it's an issue tied to my primary google account. The only thing I can think of is I've reached some sort of internal limit on the number of devices associated with an account, due to the high number of flashes over the years. I can live with using an additional signed in account for device manager, but it's annoying. I'll be interested if anyone ever finds a fix!

Bizarre popup showing up on my web browser

I'm using Firefox as my web browser and I use the following add-ons: Bluhell Firewall, Full Screen, and uBlock Origin. Every once in awhile, maybe twice a day my browser would open up without my permission and alert me that my battery has a virus and it insists that I download whatever its trying to redirect me to install to "fix" the problem. I tried using CM security and Avast, both dont detect any malware and I dont visit any suspicious looking websites where this may have gotten picked up from. Maybe I downloaded some APKs I wasnt suppose to if anything. Any idea what I can do to fix this?
P.S. Is it possible to root the Galaxy S7 Edge at this time or still no? Its been 2-3 months since I last checked.
This is just Popup and a really ****ing annoying one too.
Seen it many a times, Hijacks the Vibrate function too.

I did mention previously I have ublock origin for an addon, are you suggestion to get adblock plus on top of it? I just didnt want to have two things conflict with each other or install more than necessary. (if you think I should drop the ublock in favor of it then ok)
If its not against the rules may I please have a link to a guide on rooting my phone? This is my first Android phone I've ever owned and I dont know the procedures in rooting. I've done jailbreaking on iPhones but I'm sure this is different.

Its a Add nothing more nothing less.
Ublock may block XYZ but its possible W may get through.
w = that advert you are complaining about.
Putting another Adblocker MAY work, But i also have a Adblocker and see this add slip through some times.

Unauthorized device (Google Play)

I have just unlocked and rooted my brand new Mi A1 (with Magisk), but I noticed (among all) that in Google Play>Settings-bottom line, my device is characterized as "Not unauthorized". I also noticed, after some reading in google help, that in Settings>Create Security backups although Google Drive security backups are enabled, almost everything in "Content" list are in status "waiting for security backup creation". Nevertheless, in Magisk and in Google Play, Safenet tests pass and seem to be ok. Before rooting, I have to say, that my device was authorized as it should be. Any ideas with simple words? Should I hide maybe some services from Magisk?
(Menu directions above are translated from greek menu so some words may differ, but you will get the idea)

Yes, I know that and said that too on my first post: "I also noticed, after some reading in google help".
I posted that thread after reading that google help.

Cool.
You didn't say what part of Google help you read.
You didn't point to that part specifically..
What I pointed to makes perfect sense.
Sorry for trying to help.

It was not an offensive answer from my side. Maybe reading it looked like that.

All good.
It's sometimes hard to read tone in text.
Hope someone can give you exactly what you need to sort your question.

Try hiding root from all Google apps with magisk hide. Reboot and see if it helps.
If that doesn't, press install in magisk app and then press direct install. After the installation is complete, reboot.

Too many issues to solve (most of them solved, but I am not in mood for all this) so I unrooted, flashed stock, factory reseted and relocked.
Thing is that device is authorized again, but although Google Drive is enabled in Settings>Create security backups, it doesn't create now backups for apps' data, phone settings, etc (status: waiting to create security backups), but only for Contacts and Calendar.
