Fine job making a Windows program. Unfortunately I do not know most of those apps so I will not select them. Is it too much to ask someone for a list of apk name versus function name?

The apk name is listed along with the packagename in the list. If you are unsure what things are safe to block/disable. There are plenty of people on the forum that would be willing to help you.
I did not see the package name so I will have run it again and read more carefully or try to change the size of that field.

The apk is on the left and the package name is on the right. Are you saying you would like to see the App Drawer Name ??
That would be really helpful. Thanks.

Yeah, it sounds like you blocked a little too many, Lol. You can simply go and save your blocked list and then Unblock all and start going one by one until you figure out which ones you do need.
Please bring all feedback and questions over to the forum dedicated for this.

Here's one thing to think about also, by accident I blocked the Google stock email , not the Gmail. I went back to unblock and I had to re-enter all my emails back again. So what I'm saying after a block and then an un-block it wipes the app. Did you expect that to happen or should I expect that to happen for most apps be turned back on?
Thanks

Hi,
After downloading few free applications in my hero, some pictures and ads started popping out every few seconds in my screen. Mostly pictures of the Android depiction doing some stuff like eating or visiting places like Paris and stuff. Also, some advertisement to download videos.
How can I stop this from happening? Is there a virus scanner or a spam blocker I can use?
Please help.

Can't you just go into market and uninstall the apps you added?
Failing that, connect via adb and use adb shell to remove the apk files (presuming you're rooted).
If you aren't rooted or don't know about adb, ask or search. There are antivirus things available, but I'd just remove the apps.
Also, if you find the offending app, post its name here so others can avoid it (only if you find out which one).

Thank you for your reply.
Well, I was not sure which program installed this thing in my phone, so I un-installed all software that I downloaded. However, that did not resolve the issue. I still have the same problem.
Any advice?

Backup your contacts and other important media and factory reset the device maybe?
Thats a bit of a worry this! Not to scare you or anything, but that sounds like some form of virus/hijacking/trojan or something!
Why not install a "task killers" application and see if you can kill a particular process that is showing those ads.
If you find the right one, it might give you some indication what application created it - but do let us know if you do find out!
Or you can just write down the list of installed apps on your Hero here and then someone can take a look at the list?
Thank you guys. I found the problem, and it was due to the installation of a scientific calculator from the free market. Once I removed it, things went back to normal.
many thanks.
Do you fancy naming and shaming the app? Then no-one else will have to go through this again. Oh, and make sure you give it 1* and a negative comment on the market.
Perhaps we need an 'apps wall of shame' for any apps that do things such as this... Then we could look up any apps before downloading if they looked suspicious.

As for the program, it works good for me. I haven't accounted any bugs.
except suggestion: make it so it only has to check environment once, it takes a little bit to run the check everytime.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I also thought about, what if they copy it to another computer, or they uninstall something, the flag would still be there saying the environment is clear, even when it's not. I will definitely take this into consideration.

Just tested the program and everything looks good.
It's a good alternative to re-installing htc and sprint apps when the user has deleted them and didn't back them up.
Haven't tested the push to phone option yet and will have to make a most recent nand before I do.
Yesterday I got the mandatory Sprint Voice to text update. This really upset me as the main reason I rooted my phone was to get rid of the bloat ware. So now I have Sprint nagware to deal with. So today I installed and set up the Google Voice Mail program and it works really nice. So I decided to delete/uninstall the Sprint Voice Mail Program. I used Titanium back up and I deleted the program. Everything still works well so I figured it was gone and that was that. Later I looked in my app drawer and was surprised to see that the icon for the sprint voice mail was still there. So I tried to drag it into the garbage and it wouldn't go. So I go into root explorer and to to system>app and go down the list looking for a sprint widget that I needed to get rid of and didn't find one. I also made sure that the sprint voice mail program wasn't in there either. So I shut off the phone and started it again figuring that the program was still in memory. Well after the reboot the program is still on my phone and now it's acting like it's a brand new account and asking me if I want to set it up. So this comes to my question how do I get rid of the Sprint Voice Mail. I can't find it in my system folder so what's going on? Anyone else experience this???
Help is always appreciated............
Lisa
You can try to mount your system and remove it via Terminal Emulator. Its a pretty simple process with only a few commands if you want to have a go that route.

It's a system app, updatecore.apk or such
Not sure what updatecore.apk is but as you pointed out it's probably a big deal.
Driving home from work today I was thinking about all this and then it dawned on me that I didn't really delete the Sprint Voicemail app as I thought. Earlier I was using Titanium and I was about to delete the Sprint voice mail app when I realized that it was telling me it was going to delete "Data" only. So in reality I only deleted the Voicemail data and not the entire program. You are probably correct that this program is securely nestled within the core of the Android/HTC/Sprint package. Truly amazing as this may be one of those things that you cannot get rid of. Unless it resides in it's own .apk somewhere and I can target that one program I'm very hesitant at this point to go after it. The interesting thing about deleting the data is it seems to have reverted back to the older version. A box came up after I rebooted the phone asking me if I wanted to personalize my voice mail like I did the first time months ago. Plus being it's not technically "working" as it's not personalized the sprint genie can't target me for upgrade as it doesn't know I'm using it. What do you think of that idea?
So here is where I am. I have the Google voice mail working and it's a very cool little program. I have a "Google phone number" that is free and actually works but I don't have to do anything about it as my original phone number works the voice mail just fine. So in reality I may have beaten Sprint to at least a draw on this one................
So to recap, I would say, if you don't want the voice to text sprint app you could go into Applications and delete the "DATA" and then it doesn't know who you are. Just leave the sprint voice mail application in the "unsetup state" and the monster "Mandatory Update" can't find you. You have effectively turned off the sprint voice mail that way and then you can install a third party like Google voice mail or You mail or anything you want.
Give me you take on this idea. I think this is whats going on and this may be the only fix to opt out of the Sprint program.................
For future reference, all system (non-deletable) applications are located in /system/app. Use Root Explorer to go there and delete them. I think what he meant was to delete the Sprint Updater, which I think is Sprint_Updater.apk, also in that folder.

Ok.... I thought it was something VMCore.apk
I don't remember. I deleted it and put it back with the name "Sprint_VM.apk". Doesn't matter what it's named, but I think you're right about "VMCore.apk".
Okay Gentlemen, I have looked for all those files and the only one that is there is the Sprint_Updater.apk. Nothing there that has a VM or VVM or Sprint VVM or anything like that. I am running the .6 version of the Sprint stock 2.1. But I believe I have it disable for now. As I wrote previously by deleting the data file I have essentially not activated the program. If you do come up with the file to delete that would take the VVM with it I will certainly give it a try but there is nothing in the system>app folder that looks even close.
I so appreciate you taking you time to weigh in on this problem.

See above, delete that to get rid of SVVM for good
Well Gentlemen, again I just went though that directory vary carefully again and there is nothing that even comes close to a VVM or "voice mail" reference at all. It's simply not there.
Have you guys deleted this off your phones before? I guess you all are running some other Rom then the stock one so you haven't faced this mandatory update thing. But the files you are suggesting to remove are not in that directory. As I mentioned the Updater is there in two versions Sprint Updater and just plane Updater.
I don't believe this issue is worth you flashing the stock rom just to check it but that is a real offer and I appreciate that. I admire you guys that flash these phones just for the heck of it. When I have flashed the phone it makes my heart stop.
But thank you for all your responses. I certainly appreciate it........

I was thinking the same thing that maybe the program was still resident in the memory so I pulled the battery and everything. It's Sprints FU to the rooting community I guess...............

Still, it should be removable Is it hiding in data/app or data/app-private for some reason?
Okay, you guys aren't going to believe this. But I rebooted the phone and I checked the data/app and the data/app-private. Found nothing in there. Then I went back to the app drawer and the offending program is GONE! I can't find any vestige of it anywhere. So I gather mission accomplished! I don't know what happened as earlier I did the reboot twice and pulled the battery each time and the third time was the charm for some reason. The only file I didn't remove was the Sprint_updater.apk. It's still there. But I have turned off the updates so I shouldn't be bothered by that either..............

Does not need root access, you can remove .apks with it if you have root access, but it lets you disable without.
Download the Debloater tool, turn Debugging on, plug your phone in, start the program.
I just disabled LG Health on my Verizon phone with it. I would like to disable VoiceMate but I'm not sure what the .apk is. My apologizes if this is already known to work on the G4; I haven't seen it mentioned in the G4 forums, but I can confirm it does work.
Maybe someone can use this tool and compile a list of apps that are safe to disable using it.

No problem but be sure to add DTIgnite to the list, I missed that one. You will probably be better off uninstalling the DTIgnite update and disabling it from the app manager. That's the worst bloatware/spyware I've seen them preinstall. It's terrible.

Dang I was all excited until I realized I needed a Windows box. Guess I'll have to wait to get home and dig out my old laptop to do this.
I have to figure out how to install the drivers on a mac. I know it is possible. this debloater works on a mac as there is a .dmg file for it. I can not use the verizon software assistant because it only works on a pc. Thank you for your help though.
I feel stupid asking this but I can't get my adb drivers to work with my g4.

Can you not create a virtual machine with either Apple OS or Linux (or even run in Wine if you are using Linux)?
I can but its easier just to go home and use a windows laptop.
Bypass All LG Verify your account (LG Google Factory Reset Protection ) on Android OS 5.1.x
Download and copy file APK Shortcutmaker to MTP or USB OTG

Was the file you needed on the thing you plugged in? Is that why you plugged it in or was that an unnecessary step?
Not sure this goes along with the rules on XDA and security in general. There is a reason you no longer have access to a device. We can't and should not take the risk and guess what that reason might be. At all times we should assume an unauthorized access attempt. Especially in this case. Reported (under reserve).
A genious o.o
would have been helpful when i got my new phone, cleaned google account, changed pw, factory reset phone. 72 hour lock!
but.... yeah. much more helpful for phone theft than regular users.
Shortcut to Settings
First, thanks to vn_mobile for sharing.
Second, here's a quicker way
Install Quick Shortcut by OTG as per the OP
Then search for "reset"
Select Settings, MasterClearActivity, Try
Reset Phone
Done!!
Great, I now can make a list of XDA members I know are morons. Let's hope they also have social media info in their profiles.

Exactly!! Security flaws can only be fixed if exposed by "morons" ... read between the lines.

T-Mobile G4??
Does anyone know how to get this done on a T-Mobile G4?? The user setting isn't available in my settings. I keep getting a loop right back to the verify android screen right after putting in the correct info for the previous owner.

Nice. I don't know why there's no "switch access" option in Accessibility settings on my device.

Maybe because this Exploit has been fixed and Google won`t let you bypass the FRP like that forever. It never worked on ALL devices.
this just happened to me on my htc m9. i changed my password sunday. reset my device and im like WTF? im done with google, this feature should be duely noted to consumers and in the literature. im taking my paperweight m9 back to tmobile and getting an iphone. i don't mind security but this is too much.
