Hi there
I updated today from CM13 which I've had installed for ages to Dirty Unicorn Rom v12 Angler. Files used;
du_angler-v12.0-20180309-1144-OFFICIAL.zip
SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip
vendor-angler-opm3.171019.014.img
This let me in but I hadn't installed GAPPS.
My lock pattern worked, then went to install GAPPS and when got in the pattern says it's wrong even though it isn't. It works in TWRP the lock pattern.
Tried another ROM and get the same problem, I don't ever remember setting a lock pattern other than the one I know is right.
Tried ADB to reset the GESTURES but this does not work.
Also nothing held in the DATA\SYSTEM folder on the device for me to delete.
I don't mind losing my data but can someone please help with what I need to do please?
Also tried a complete ROM install of Linage
lineage-15.1-20180319-nightly-angler-signed.zip
bootloader-angler-angler-03.79.img
vendor-angler-opm3.171019.016.img
radio-angler-angler-03.85.img
Please help
Thank you!!
Did you mount data and system in twrp? After that you should be able to delete the locksettings.db file in data/system from file manager. Also make sure you're using the latest version of twrp

Hi folks,
I am currently run CM12 12-20150204 nightly, everything seems to work fine I just have an issue with the lock screen.
I enabled patterm lock an that works ok and it will let me switch between pattern, pin or password lock.
But it wont let me switch to None or Swipe.
Both None and Swipe options are greyed out with "Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage"
Could some one please advise me of a fix or point me to a link.
I did read some where to edit the build.prop but the line to be edited wasn't in my build.prop
Regards
Torr
Try adding the line manually. But make a backup before that. Just in case
Hi thanks,
Been a bit busy yesterday , do think I could find that thread again to edit the build.prop
So no fix yet , just have to live with it for now I guess.
Using TWRP 2.8.4.0 I tried advanced wiping of System , davlikcache and cache then re-installing 07/02 nighly but the pattern lock screen still persisted.
What finally worked , I deleted locksettings.db, locksettings.db-shm and locksettings.db-wal from the root data/system folder.
when I rebooted the security lockscreen is now back to swipe :good:
Only issue if i go into "choose a lock screen" None and Swipe are still greyed out , so if I select pattern , PIN or password , I cant go back to None or Swipe.
Hope this is of some help, thanks everyone who took the time to read my query.
If theres a better solution please reply.
Regards
Torr
The only other solution I see is to either install another version of CM12, or go with a completely different rom altogether
The lock screen data seems to be stored in the data partition, so unless I fully wiped that I'm not sure a different version of CM12 would of fixed my problem. I did have 05/02 nightly with the issue an it was still present when I went to 07/02 nightly.
I take it that you usually don't do a wipe before flashing an update to the rom you're using?
Wiping data, cache and dalvik cache is recommended to prevent bugs. Even if it's just an update to your current rom.
You are correct , I don't delete data, But I always delete cache and dalvik cache .
If I have issues I delete system as well.
If the previous doesn't sort my issues, as a last resort I delete data as well as the above or I restore to a previous working state.

Torr
Well, I guess that might have caused your issue. Try doing a clean flash next time you update or change roms.
So, I messed up, followed a tutorial from someone and now I think I have messed up my phone for good,
I had forgotten my Alternate Password for my screen lock, So wanted to figure out if I could get it back somehow. Someone told me that if I deleted the Password.key file in the /data/system folder I would be able to reset my password. I did that and then reboot my system. Now I don't have the password.key file and whenever I go to set the password in Settings, on clicking on "Security" the Settings closes on it's own and I am taken to the previous menu, so now I have no way to set a password on my phone.
I have tried changing ROMs flashed two ROMs, the H2OS and the SkyDragon. Both of them could not fix the issue. Does anyone have any idea about this?
Thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:
UPDATE:
For anyone who has had this issue, the fix is to go back to Stock Oxygen OS 2.1.1 and then update to 2.1.2 from which stage you can practically flash any Rom of your choice, it's long and tiresome but its a sure shot fix.
Hope this helps people in need
After restoring in TWRP and booting to system the correct pattern wasn't recognized, meaning I couldn't authenticate thus rendering the backup useless. Tried all three backups I had of stock or stock-rooted with the same result, all using the same pattern since getting the phone. Interestingly, though, my latest non-stock ROM's backup, which I'd also set up with the same pattern, was recognized correctly after restoring, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with TWRP.
My only way to return to stock was by flashing the full firmware and setting up again from square one. I've made two fresh backups (before and after setting up my stuff) after temporarily setting the screen lock to none/slide. If others have been able to restore stock backups with their pattern security intact, please let us know. Otherwise I'd advise disabling lock screen security before backing up, and not trusting existing stock backups that weren't done that way.
Had the same problem on other phones. Fixed it by deleting all *.key files in ./data/system via TWRP Filemanager.
Had the same problem, I switched to PIN after a full restore. Good to know there is a fix!

Yes, this solves the problem. However, I recommend to disable the lock before doing the backup (and reenable after).
This problem also occurs when you use a multibooting environment. As soon as you switch back to the first rom, the the pattern isn't recognized. It's driving me crazy! Somehow the patterns don't survive a backup or a change such as installing a second rom...

Awesome - thanks!
Got into this little pattern lock-out mess when I restored a good working ROM. Did TWRP full-wipe with System partition to do good housekeeping prior to Restore. Restore worked fine except my Pattern Security feature wasn't working. Flashed your Zip Install - worked great and got me in fine after reboot.
Cool to have your Zip Unlocker around in case this happens again.
Thanks - John
Info:
my device is a Huawei p9 lite VNS-L31
Before the problem occurred I had absolutely 0 problems with something like that
What doesn't work:
"Enrollment was not completed
Fingerprint enrollment didn't work.
Try again or use a different finger."
When trying to register any finger.
Story:
I unlocked my bootloader, tried several custom ROMS to see which one I like the most.
I ended up using Validus, and successfully registered two fingerprints.
Then I tried rooting, somehow failed and wiped everything to restart.
I reinstalled TWRP and Validus, rooted successfully. Fingerprints stopped working then.
I tried wiping everything, formatting, deleting my fingerprint stuff (which I couldn't, the files didn't exist!!!)
like this:
Solution for fingerprinter:
Boot into TWRP
Go to advanced>filemanager to acces the files in your phone.
Enter the folder /data/system/user/0
Delete following files: ./fpdata/user.db, settings_fingerprint.xml
Reboot to system and set up new fingerprints with the fingerprint wizard
Everything should work normal

I also tried installing a different ROM. Nothing worked.
I also tried going back to stock firmware but the update always fails and I only can use custom ROMS.
Everything else works.
Question:
What could I possibly do to get fingerprints working again?
Thanks in advance!
Have you deleted your fingerprints before reinstalling TWRP and Validus? If not, then that might be the problem.
Install any version of Elite Rom and delete your registered fingerprints.

Thank you for your answer!
I wasn't able to get into the os, so I didn't do that.
I will try installing Elite ROM, but I don't understand how the fingerprints would be visible to delete there, since I had Validus already when it happened, so shouldn't the fingerprints be there with Validus?

It worked, thank you! I'd still be interested in knowing why the fingerprints are visible in EliteROM.
Hello.
I have exactly same problem but on Huawei P10 Lite.
Unfortunately Elite ROM is not available for EMUI 8.
Any other ideas how I can delete fingerprints?
Regards.
EDIT: Never mind, I fixed it by downloading stock ROM via EMUI recovery. It wipes everything include fingerprints and install everything stock.
Hi everyone,
so in my immense stupidity, I actually managed to set my phone password wrongly, and now I can't get in. Spent a day trying passwords to find the typo but that was unsuccessful.
I have crDroid Android 11, bootloader unlocked, rooted with magisk, and TWRP 3.5.0.
How can get my phone back? I would love to save the internal storage since I have important stuff, but you know, if wiping it is the only way I have to go for it.
Thanks in advance.
Use this method. I have seen many people online suggesting it works.
Remove /Bypass Lockscreen With Recovery
Recently when i restored my data using TWRP i faced a problem at lock screen. I was not able to unlock my phone with the pin i set Earlier..So after so many attempts i was able to find a solution for that problem.(works with pattern, pin etc)...

You are essentially removing lockscreen settings completely and should work as you still have TWRP access.

Thanks for the responce, but unfortunately that didn't work.
I deleted the files as explained in the thread you linked but now the lockscreen doesn't work at all, it's just a black screen. The power menu appears if I hold the power button, but nothing else. I tried swiping in some direction on the black screen but it doesn't unlock.
Also tried to sideload the rom again (dirty and clean flash), and magisk, still no luck.
Read the entire thread but nothing helpful.

Is TWRP able to decrypt the data? I'm guessing that's a no as the password is not accepted by the lockscreen. If TWRP was magically OK with the password, you could have adb pulled the files.
But apart from reseting the lockscreen using TWRP, I don't know a way to fetch the files.

TWRP can decrypt if the correct passoword is provided. Tried pulling with adb the files anyway, even if they are encrypted, but the phone doesn't allow that either.
Thanks anyway
