Gmail not working --only on my Tab A - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

I have been hving intermittent problems accessing GMail on my Galaxy Tab A.
The program will show in my tabs on the left that I have new messages, but I am unable to view or retrieve them.
Gmail will sometimes flash an error that no connection can be found, even though my wireless connection is good...other programs, including Chrome, have not problems.
I've tried uninstalling, clearing data and cache, without any change in this error.
It only happens on this device, my mobile phone accesses GMail without difficulty.
any ideas?
TIA

Has anyone else not been able to sync with gmail?

the AM I flashed eugene's Vibrant9 rom. I had to register the phone with my google act. I can sync all but gmail. I can access all google apps online except gmail, when I try to access gmail online I get this message:
Account Lockdown: Unusual Activity Detected
This account has been locked down due to unusual account activity. It may take up to 24 hours for you to regain access.
Unusual account activity includes, but is not limited to:
1. Receiving, deleting, or downloading large amounts of mail via POP in a short period of time.
2. Sending a large number of undeliverable messages (messages that bounce back).
3. Using file-sharing or file-storage software, browser extensions, or third party software that automatically logs in to your account.
4. Leaving multiple instances of your Gmail account open.
5. Browser-related issues. Please note that if you find your browser continually reloading while attempting to access your Inbox, it’s probably a browser issue, and it may be necessary to clear your browser’s cache and cookies.

I have changed my google PW. At this point I just don't know what it could be, is anyone else having gmail sync issues? I guess it could be an issue with the rom but noone else is having that problem over in the Dev section.

Device Adminsitrator messages - Mail/Calendar/Contacts wont Sync

Help!
I set up remote tracking on my GS2 yesterday, it seemed ok until i got this notification saying i had to 'Activate Device Administrator' for email. I figured this was a result of setting up the remote tracking as it listed a lot of similar functions on the screen (wipe phone, locate phone etc). So I clicked activate and ever since my Gmail doesnt sync, mail, contacts or calendar.
Ive tried deactivating it, but it just sends a notification saying i have to activate it. Ive toggled it a few times and tried syncing but no joy. Ive also noticed that a Samsung Account is now listed under 'Accounts and Sync', i think this is related as it accepts the same username and password i entered for the remote stuff. I tried deleting this but it says you can only delete it with a factory reset which id rather avoid if possible (im not convinced it would solve the syncing anyway..?)
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

[Q] Can't Get Rid of Duplicate WiFi Access Points

I have a non-rooted Nexus S running 2.3.3 and have an odd issue where I have a ton of duplicate access points (20+ instances of the same access point). Whenever I try to delete duplicate access points, other access points then start "growing" multiple entries. It's like whack-a-mole or something because as I delete some, others then grow. Almost all of the duplicate entries are for open access points (no password) that I might have connected to once while in a coffee shop when traveling or something.
I do have the background sync turned on such that Google can backup my bookmarks, apps, and wifi settings, and I think that's part of the problem. Yesterday, out of severe frustration, I did a factory-data-reset to clear out everything. As soon as Google re-sync'ed my bookmarks, apps, and wifi settings, all the duplicate wifi settings were back again.
Interestingly, I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet that syncs to my same Google account and the wifi sync works great there--it only syncs wifi access points for which I've specially put in passwords and there are no dupes.
Two questions:
1. Anyone know if Google has a website that allows me to edit the online, saved wifi settings that get sync'ed?
2. Anyone know of a non-root tool to let me delete multiple/all of my wifi access points in bulk versus one-at-a-time?

LPF - S Planner unable to create tasks

I've come across my first problem with LPF.
When I try to create a new task in S Planner, it says "event created", then the screen goes black and it hangs for about a minute, then a system notice pops up that says "Unfortunately, S Planner has stopped. OK"
When I go back int S Planner, the event hasn't been created.
I tried rebooting and get the same thing.
I don't use the local calender, I only use the gmail calendar.
It was working on LPY, because I created an event yesterday on the phone.
Is anybody else having this problem?
Rich
My splanner is OK just checked.
Thanks.
I couldn't work out the problem.
I tried to clear the cache and data in the app manager.
I tried to restore an older backup from TB that I know was working under LPY.
I added events via the web interface and they wou;dn't appear when I synced.
My google account was still setup ok as Gmail was working.
I ended up doing a factory reset and TB restore (without restoring S Planner) and am just going through and reconfiguring everything now.
S planner works OK for me now.

[Q] Contact stock app crashes / freezes on "Updating contact list"

I have a rooted Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 with Android 4.2.2 for the last 3 weeks and it worked without any problems. Since 3 days however the contact stock app crashes / doesnt open at all with black screen or freezes with the message "Updating contact list...". I didn't change any settings or installed any new apps during that time. The error also seems to crash the call stock app, where call log, favorites, contacts etc. are also not displayed. In most cases when the error appears I cannot even open the call app and initiate a phone call. Incoming calls just show the number but do not get matched to any contacts.
The error appears randomly and then lasts for 2-3 hours, after which the app works again normally. Rebooting, clearing cache or clearing dalvic cache has no effect.
All my contacts are synched with Google, Samsung account, Twitter, Facebook & Linkedin. I have tried deactivating each & all of the syncs but this had no effect. I also tried displaying only contacts with numbers or only contacts from a certain account in settings but this also had no effect on the error.
Any other suggestions on what could be tried to fix this? Thank you very much in advance!
I might have traced down the reason for this and it could be related to the "sync people details" option for the Google account sync. I have now deactivated the sync and have to monitor if the error still occurs. Has anyone else experienced similar problems due to this setting?

Same problem here, occurred at about the same date early sep 2013 with the same phone.... Galaxy S4, T Mobile, Android 4.2.2. The android.process.acore goes ape**** and block all apps that use the contact list: I can no longer text, phone or email, for a couple of hours. After that, everything goes back to normal for half a day like nothing ever happened. Then all hell break lose again. I called T-Mobile, Samsung and Google.
T-Mobile has the same fix for any conceivable problem: reinstall the entire system OR change the phone. How subtle!
Samsung won't deal with any client problem whatsoever.
Google was the best - hands down. They spent time with me trying to figure the problem out. Ultimately, they recommended rooting the phone - which is not great because I use wifi calling, which requires a bit of tmobile code. Frankly, I would love to get rid of TMobile's bloatware, but they have a way to control their clients with wifi calling.
Still working on getting this pb resolved.

I installed an app called "Contact Remover", deleted all contacts and then re-synched them and at the same time deactivated the sync for the "Sync People Details" option. Since then the error only appeared one more time (no idea why ..) but it seems as if that mostly fixed the issue.
Possible solution

It looks like disabling all unnecessary sync relieves the performance to a normal level.
In particular, disabling "Sync Contacts" (under Accounts/Skype) from Skype made a big improvement performance for my SG4.
