the AM I flashed eugene's Vibrant9 rom. I had to register the phone with my google act. I can sync all but gmail. I can access all google apps online except gmail, when I try to access gmail online I get this message:
Account Lockdown: Unusual Activity Detected
This account has been locked down due to unusual account activity. It may take up to 24 hours for you to regain access.
Unusual account activity includes, but is not limited to:
1. Receiving, deleting, or downloading large amounts of mail via POP in a short period of time.
2. Sending a large number of undeliverable messages (messages that bounce back).
3. Using file-sharing or file-storage software, browser extensions, or third party software that automatically logs in to your account.
4. Leaving multiple instances of your Gmail account open.
5. Browser-related issues. Please note that if you find your browser continually reloading while attempting to access your Inbox, it’s probably a browser issue, and it may be necessary to clear your browser’s cache and cookies.

I have changed my google PW. At this point I just don't know what it could be, is anyone else having gmail sync issues? I guess it could be an issue with the rom but noone else is having that problem over in the Dev section.

Hey Guys. Not necessary looking for a fix but misery loves company so I figured I'd ask if anyone is having a similar issue:
When sending email through Gmail IMAP email messages receive and sync, but do not send (yielding a popup that states "make sure your connection to the server is correct...etc")
So anyone feel my pain on this?
same issue here
I am on DCD 3.1.2 w/radio 3.39.10 and I have the same issue.
Going to go back to pop3 for now and see if fixes this issue for me.
I'm running off of completely stock stuff right now ( i think it's 3.53). Nothing special or cooked.
Should be working, but it's not. :-/
I'm also having this issue
this happens intermittently for me - very intermittently. I have found that ending my google mail account that's running in the background and going into that mail account via the mail application again corrects the issue. I use HTC Task Manager to close out apps in the background... a soft reset would do the same thing.
This is a Gmail (imap)/Windows Mobile issue. Not sure what the problem is, but it definitely sucks.
I would recommend sticking with Gmail POP until Google gets their WinMo/imap act together.
I have Samsung Galaxy 3 with stock android 2.1
I have 3 queries regarding gmail app:
1) can we delete specific mail from conversation in gmail app?
2) is there an way to copy/paste text in gmail app while replying to any mail?
3) I am having trouble adding another gmail account to gmail app. Whenever I try that, it gives an error message:
"Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care"
I checked that I am able to surf internet at that time and there is no problem with GPRS. Also, I have tried this almost 20 times and this issue is happening everytime, that is why I am writing here.
Is there any solution to this?
There are 200 views for this post...even then there is not a single response to this thread..is this such a difficult query?
still no responses to this after 247 views?
As I don't use Android I won't be able to help you much, but the error message you are getting has nothing to with your phone. You must get in touch with Airtel in order to to get the correct data plan - remember Gmail and Microsoft exchange are different services - Gmail inboxes can be defined free and you can send and recieve with the data charges.
But push mail is a separate service for which you need to pay and chose a separate data plan.
I suggest you talk it with Airtel.
AFAIK you should be able to delete conversations, can't say much more.
I think I need to contact dev of GMail app in this case for other queries other than error message...can you point me to the correct direction here?
Earlier today I decided to try out an alternative version of Email.apk, so I backed up the original version of that file, installed the newer version...which proceeded to FC...and then rebooted and restored the original version. Now I can't seem to access information on my corporate Exchange server which was my only account in Email (I also have a Gmail account, but I use the Gmail app for that).
I've tried clearing settings for Email, Calendar (and storage), Contacts (and storage), and Google Services Framework, deleting and recreating the account repeatedly, rebooting after each attempt, etc., but still no luck. Basically it lets me add the account after successfully connecting to the Exchange server, but then it doesn't download email and it doesn't see any calendars or contacts. I know the problem isn't with the Exchange server because all of my other clients (Outlook, OWA, iPhone, etc.) still work fine.
It seems as if there's some kind of cruft floating around from before that's not quite enough to allow Email to work properly, but enough to keep it from properly recreating the account. Is there a particular app database I need to clear/flush in order to recreate this account?
Thanks much for any help!!!
A little research led me to this issue with Android 2.3.3 that seems to be similar if not the same:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15356
Looks like it's been fixed in 2.3.4. Assuming that the patch in the middle of that thread is the actual fix, it doesn't look like it should be that hard to integrate into CM7, though I've never done a build of Android/CM7 so I don't know enough to comment. Any thoughts?
Hi guys,
I have been extremely frustrated with my LG G2 experience thus far (1 day) and am planning on sending it back. Everytime I turn off my phone and restart it will ask me for a password of the WiFi network in my home. Furthermore, setting up multiple gmail accounts has been a nightmare. I went into accounts and added my other gmail accounts and was able to browse email of the different accounts through the gmail app. However, when I use the browser LG or Chrome I started having issues with logging into accounts. When I go to gmail.com in my LG browser it shows all my gmail accounts and then when I click on one of them, it will either not allow me to login and the page refreshes back to where it shows all the accounts or it will only let me login in to one account and even when I sign out of it and then, try to login (if the page allows me which it does randomly) then it will take me back to the account I had supposedly just logged out of. So, I tried to logout and login to a different gmail account on my chrome browser as well, but its now just stuck in an infinite loop where the blue bar goes halfway and comes back and does the same things really fast over and over again? I tried searching and have not been able to find any answers. I called LG tech support and she said you can only ever check one gmail account whether it is through the gmail app or checking gmail through a browser. Is this true? If yes, then I will be sending the phone back and for me is a major setback. I really wish there will some easy solution to these problems, because other than these issues I really do love the device and hope I can keep it.
I am using a LG D803 from Telus. I also have not put in a sim yet either.
Thanks,
Jay
Lol. I have 803. Never heard or experienced any of the above. I use multiple Gmail accounts on app. It's highly convenient except for the sync that turns off on its own time to time

Yup, as my post says gmail app is fine. Have you tried logging in and out of multiple gmail accounts in the browsers?
Frustrated as well
I have the same wifi issue. I must enter my network and password EVERY time. I travel back at forth from work to home daily and must enter all the information EVERY time. I HATE that and am also going to discard the phone because of it. I have searched and searched for a solution and none are out there. I guess I'll go back to the IPhone.

I am getting what seems to be a fairly common issue for people (via searching on Google) in excessive Exchange Services battery drain. The keep awake related to Exchange Services right now is about 3.5 hours, on a total of 4 hours of total time after taking it off. The phone has been awake the entire time I have had it on, due to Exchange Services. I also can see com.android.exchange and com.android.email show up constantly if I go into Developer Options and enable the Show CPU Usage. The oddest thing is that this did not appear when I first set up my Exchange email (to the same exact settings) when I got the phone a week or two ago, and only cropped up when I did a factory reset this weekend. I have already taken the following trouble shooting steps:
- removed and re-added the account
- removed account, cleared data and cache for exchange services, restarted, then re-added the account
- Switched to something other than push for sync frequency. This DOES fix the problem, however not having push is not, in my mind, a workable solution since I do have IM-like exchanges over email that require more real time back and forth. There was a reference on AndroidCentral with a user that switched to non-push for an hour, then switched back and push started working normally; for me this did not work (I left it on non-push overnight)
- Logged into OWA, manually removed account, then removed account/cleared data/restarted phone, then re-added the account. Note that I did this through the OWA system, I did not go into the Exchange Management Console (I do not have access to that) and remove/re-add the account.
- Disabled Tasks or Calendar sync. Neither works - its clearly related to the email portion of the exchange server sync.
- Removed Outlook.com app
I realize that I can use a third party app for Exchange, but then I will have completely segregated exchange calendar/contacts from the system calendar, and that is not something I want (i.e. I want to see gmail and exchange events side by side).
Hopefully the early adopters on this forum will have some good input regarding this issue. There is a fair amount of people out there asking for help on this problem, but some have it go away by removing/re-adding the account, but a good chuck of them appear to never solve their issue. Hopefully that is not me....
Solved my issue...this was what I did, for the record:
Remove the external memory card on my device (to prevent remote wipe from deleting the files on my external memory card – i.e. pictures)
Go into the Phone List on the Outlook Web Access and initiate a remote wipe
Step 2 obviously triggers a factory reset of my phone. Once that reset took place and I got the confirmation email, I removed my phone from the Phone List on Outlook Web Access per the email’s instructions. If you do not do this, then your phone will simply wipe and reset again when you try to reconnect to the exchange server
I re-set up my phone, re-downloaded all of my apps, and re-added the exchange account
Within step 4, this is what I did:
I am not sure this step is essential, but I did not select the option to allow Google to restore my backed up settings – I started completely fresh
Because I did not restore my backed up settings, I went through the process of re-setting up my phone, which took some time – probably about an hour or so since I was doing it off and on. During that time, Google may have pushed out other updates to my phone (I know from past experience that Google tends to do that when the phone is first set up). After that hour, I re-added my exchange account (using autodiscover)
I used the default settings at first when setting up the exchange account (default on my phone was 3-day sync of email, 50kb limit per email, and 2 week sync of calendar). After I saw that there was no more error loops causing the exchange services to run constantly, I changed this to my preferred settings (1 month email, no size limit, 6 months calendar, sync of sent items and my Axial subfolder in addition to inbox)
I am not sure if the order matters, but I reset-up my main phone settings before re-adding the exchange account, and re-added my apps after adding the exchange account.
The OWA interface where you can delete, execute remote wipe, etc, is simply the web address you use to log into your exchange email (i.e. it is not an admin tool). For me, it was the format owa.domain.com, but it will be different for every server. I was able to grab phone log and the OWA log both while I had the battery drain issue and after, and I have our IT guys looking into it. In the meantime, if anyone here is an IT expert, particularly an exchange expert and may find these logs to be useful in diagnosing the root problem, please PM me. A cursory glance of the logs confirms an error loop, with the server showing a lot of these errors:
