I have just updated mine this morning OTA, I was also coming from Oreo Beta though I don't believe that should make a difference. My S8+ is SM-G955F, XEU.
Software version is G955FXXU1CRB7
Can you get into settings? mine forcecloses every time after the update I tried restarting and deleting cache nothing worked so far...
I sent mine off for repair and was sent a new one this morning (on 7.0) and thought I'd check to see if the update was out and it came for me too. I had to check it wasn't the BETA trying to download again but it's the official release.

Had the same update also from 7.0.
My EE device also received update. Feels very snappy so far

My fingerprint speed is really slow to unlock the phone . Deleted and re added all fingerprints and still the same .
Soooo much lag
I swear on it the volume for headphones has changed for the worse and is really noticeable, i wish i stayed on 7.0 now.
Stupid EU laws.
Can oreo be rooted currently? Want to sort out this mess.
It seems I'm not the only one either.

4 months this has been reported and they still release this to the public knowing that this is a issue and the only way to fix it is by voiding warranty, thanks samsung/Google!
My £200 headphones are ruined now, it's either root or get a separate music player, I've been fuming mad over it the whole day.

i'm still relatively new to this "having a non modded phone that gets official updates" thing, so the questions i bring up might be stupid
i've been talking to a friend that has the exact same phone that i have (galaxy s7 edge g-935F), his phone is on G935FXXU1APDH whereas mine is still on G935FXXU1APCD
phones aren't carrier locked/branded, exact same model, only difference being he lives in the UK while i live in germany
my firmware is months old too and even worse, according to this site ( http://www.sammobile.com/2016/04/26...-s7-galaxy-tab-3-lite-galaxy-note-5-and-more/ ) i'm supposed to be on a far newer firmware already, yet my phone brings up nothing whenever i manually check for updates (look for Germany (O2)(VIA))
does anyone know what is causing this because if i'll be stuck with the months old firmware, i'd rather root this thing and throw a custom rom on it
update: got sick of waiting and manually ODIN'd a much newer version on it, am now on G935FXXU1APEQ
by the way my battery life is a bit better now
Honestly, we went back to older firmwares for the battery life. Maybe your phone is telling you that might be a good thing for now [emoji23]

that's nice and all but it doesn't exactly help me
i'm missing actual features here like the camera's shape correction which i'd love to have because this camera's image distortion is really stupid
You could always just download the latest firmware and update the phone yourself via odin.

nope, still as stuck on APCD as ever
honestly by this point, if you're feeling lucky, you might as well just look into ODINing an update onto your phone by yourself
I am sticking to the APCD version now for 9 months or so. Did any of you with the same problem get an update in the meantime? If not, what would be the correct rom to be flashed?
I'm still on g935fxxu1bpjg UK unbranded!
Samsung is busy with S8 so please wait for one year...
I just setup my AT&T s7 edge today. All has been great for the past 6 hours. Now my sm-g935a just downloaded a new at&t software update.
Anyone have this same update today or get this installed yet? Do we know what it includes? I will dig around for more details myself, maybe my phone was behind in updates.
UPDATE/EDIT: I think for me it might be a security patch. Noticing I am Android security patch level Sept 1, 2016. Is this the current?
Current AT&T patch for S7e is 11/01/2016. I checked last week and there was no update for Dec.

Good luck getting it to go through, I had to go to at&t online and have them force push the update earlier this week, then the touch on the phone went out and couldn't use certain parts of the keyboard. Replacement phone I got, they can't even get the update to force over.

And you still aren't up to date. There's an APK1 update from November that won't go through unless you call or chat with them. I gave up trying to get rid of it; the first S7 Edge I got on Christmas Eve, updated it to APK1 and rooted it, crashed 5 times in 10 days, then the touch sensor on the lower right went out. Then, tried to update to the October software, rooted, crashed, reset and Odined the September software, rooted, fine.
Why is it not allowed through or I'm not seeing it?

I have APK1, just got the phone today. I can root on APK1 right? Been searching for a few hours now and haven't found a definitive answer. If you could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I considered rooting to uninstall all the junk ware. It seems though it can be somewhat risky. Plus it seems to give some buggy results and given the s7 is not perfect in any way, I'm personally settled to just leave it the way it is. Was hoping that update I saw last night was a prelude to a nougat upgrade.
I just came from the Note 7... Well I still have it... Anyway I don't mind buggy processes and or Idc about tripping Knox either lol. This phone is gonna be my play phone till the Note 8 comes out :cyclops:

Did you manage to get the speaker static fixed? I've sent mine back three times now and they keep saying its fine - but the sound is completely unusable at the lowest volumes with the static/distortion.

Lenovo lies to avoid to have to fix the update...
The news are that have some bugs and Lenovo have no plan to fix it, so that's why they have retired the update from their servers... You can download the update zip from internet and flash it manually (that's what I did), but have some things that fails like for example screen casting.
I don't use screen casting and I've not found other bugs for now, but maybe have more...
I bought essential phone couple of months ago and was thoroughly disappointed because of several reasons, battery drain, call quality issues and very bland software too bare for my liking also it was well overpriced.
Now that price has dropped and have an opportunity for buying for far less. However I would like to ask current buyers if the same issues I mentioned above are still prevalent? Would you recommend buying this over other similar priced phones around £420
Thanks for your help

I bought mine during the black friday promotion (phone + free camera) for $157 including paid off lease and purchase option from Sprint. I also got a free 360 camera delivered last week. I sideloaded the Oreo beta 2 firmware from Essential website and I can tell you that it is much...much better than before. Try it yourself and find out!
If you're complaining about bland software then you should probably skip it.
It is still essentially stock Android.
(Which is why I bought it)
But everything else is working great for me. Cell reception is equal to my Op5, haven't had any complaints about call quality and battery life is incredible
This battery life is best of any Android I've had

I bought mine 3 weeks ago, went straight to Oreo beta, and update via OTA to beta 2. Even within those 3 weeks, huge improvements were made. I am absolutely happy with this phone, and I am coming from a Oneplus One (which was my favorite phone ever).

I've never encountered those problems, but I believe the Oreo beta fixed those that were Nougat problems. Also on T-Mobile, and it's signal is easily as good if not better than my Oneplus One.

The signal seemed just lower than few of my phone that I compared it with. In a good area there are no issues, in an area with not ideal reception, Essential gets even lower signal. I am thinking about Oreo Beta, but if Essential releases it within a week, then there is no point in getting the beta.
I am VERY happy with my phone.
Call quality has been pretty good on Oreo beta 2. Haven't had any dropped calls or other issues. Battery has improved on Oreo. I can easily go all day and get 5-6 hrs SoT. The software is pretty much the same stock Android experience. It's not for everyone but I usually go for phones with stock or near stock Android (Moto X Pure, Nexus 6, 5x, 6P, OP3T). I've really enjoyed the PH-1 but it still might not be the right phone for you.

I would side load it. I took the plunge with beta 2 and happy I did just runs smoother and battery life is good. Most of us who chose this phone did so for the stock experience. (bland software) as you put it.
Being thoroughly disappointed and getting it again is like remarrying your ex lol.
I do not have any issues with call quality or battery drain and I paid about 150US. for a new sprint unlocked version.
Knowing this, paying 420 might still make it seem too expensive for you in the end.
Ebay and swappa here in the US are selling these things cheap not sure about the UK though.
With all the sprint phones out there the value on resale will be minimal.

I just sideloaded Oreo 2 beta and when it finished, the phone booted properly. I started to play with it, but after about 10 min, phone rebooted and was in that reboot state(spinning dots) for about 5 min, then booted properly. There is no indication what has caused that, but for now the phone seems normal. I have Pebble app running and notification shade shows "Pebble is running in the background" and I am trying to remove that notification, but haven't found a way to do that just yet.
