So, I noticed that after my Oreo upgrade on the Verizon S8+, I have stock Android buttons instead of Samsung buttons. Did something weird happen with my update? I'm not complaining lol

So they changed them between Nougat and Oreo? Even though I still have the old, squarish Samsung home button when the screen is off with AOD on?
Yeah that's weird!

great thing about the OREO Theme store is that the navigation is also customized. Tried an dark oreo theme and I got pixel2 navigation buttons

That's strange. My buttons are still the Samsung buttons, same as they were on Nougat. I do have an unlocked device though. Maybe a Verizon thing?

Still no idea how to replicate it. Seems to happen randomly. I usually have to turn off and on the screen to get it working again.

Strange issue, in thinking it could be the screen protector, or maybe you have all in one gestures enabled or a similar app that allows you to tap on statusbar for something. , or could just be defective. That's all I got. There was an awesome update today for T-Mobile
It fixes screen sensitivity and palm rejection as well as battery and performance upgrades. Its a great update but don't take it if you are gonna want root because they might find a vulnerability on the old software. Or maybe they find it on later software. No one really knows right now. Its up to u but I upgraded. Its worth it to me.

Some guys on Reddit said it could be cerebrus. Status lock messes with it

I keep my s7 edge unlocked with my Gear S2 watch, but all the Screen Off apps activate pass code sign in when turning the screen back on. Is this a Marshmallow limitation? Thanks.

Id say no to that, as it was the last update to our phones that activated this problem, it wasn't there before!

I have this and is OK. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iglint.android.screenlockpro
Just check the box with Marshmallow and Lollipop in app's settings.

This one works with gestures on Nova and does not require passcode after using it (the screen goes black and there is a 4 second delay to actually lock the screen):

Nova with root access instead of admin access does not ask for pin/passcode and can login with fingerprint

I thought it worked, but it just puts the screen to sleep while the phone is still active underneath and won't actually turn off the phone

Thanks. Unfortunately I have the T-Mobile variant and I like Samsung Pay too much.

The screen turn off and the phone will lock n sleep after about 4s. It won't stay awake. You actually don't have any other choice except if u wanna use the power button or root. This is a marshmallow security feature.

Nova with root works great[emoji4] no pin, passcode or password is needed. Just only fingerprint [emoji4]

Hi, I have a little bug on my Samsung S7 edge that I had on my S4, S5, S6 and now on my S7 edge.
As you can see in the images attached the layout of the notification bar constantly changes(stock and Good Lock). I think that is something like a little bug, this is a little bit annoying for me...
Do you know if there is a way to send this issue to the Samsung Developer Team?
Thank you!
Could be to help prevent amoled burn in.

Really? So, it's not a bug but a feature preventing burn in?
Could be.
Hi all,
first post here.
I recently purchased the Galaxy S8 - love it!
A friend told me that using the power button regularly will damage the button. Is this true?
the friend also recommended using a Screen Lock/ Off app to use this (similar to the iOS quick ball)
Any thoughts?
How would regular use damage it? If you're skeptical, use the fingerprint unlock feature.

Thanks for the reply. Exactly my point. Samsung would make these buttons with a very good usability time span right?

One would hope so! I personally use the fingerprint unlock and love it!

And to lock? the power button?
It's a little finicky compared to the iPhones... The buttons are bigger and more clicky on the iPhones. Can't really fault the galaxy though since that edge screen use up half of the side bezel.
The power button is there for a reason. Use it.
Don't be silly, no it won't break...
Thanks all for the help

30 seconds for timeout is the setting I use....no power button push to lock required!

or just search and install Softkey Edge from Galaxy App and use it from edge side.
Hey guys after the new updates I noticed the finger vibrate when unlocking the phone is gone now. Is there a way to turn the back on? I'm noticing now that I'm unlocking my phone without even knowing when taking it out my pocket. before I would feel the vibration and lock it back.
No way
The only current way is with custom ROMs or Xposed+Gravity Box.

Xposed beta 3 for Oreo was released last week, if I remember correctly. Same for GravityBox beta.

I had it installed before but I wasn't really using it like that so I removed it.
The other option would be to enable vibration on touch, but it will also enable vibration for back and recent buttons.
