Transfer files by USB between Android smartphone and Android head unit. - Android Head-Units

Hi.
How can I transfer files between my smartphone and my Android Head Unit?
I thought the by USB would be the best choice, but I connected my smartphone by USB and I'm not able to see the smartphone files in the Android Head Unit.
My Android head unit is a Asottu CXKLL179060 that is a Allwinner T8 Otca core.
Thanks

I been trying to figure this out today but no luck as yet, seems like it should be a simple thing to do, but tried various file managers and neither devices seem to be able to find the others storage.

Yes, I don't know how to enable the Android Head Unit to recognize the smartphone by USB, or another method, and be able to access the files of the smartphone.
I can't download files from my house's wifi to the Android Head Unit. The Android Head Unit recognize my house's wifi but indicates a low reception. The wifi receiver of the Android Head Unit probably have a low reception or, as the wifi receiver of the Android Head Unit is inside the car panel , it probably decrease the Android Head Unit wifi reception.

Got it working today by usb, used this Paragon ExFAT NTFS USB Android, apk in playstore.

This one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.tcplugins_ntfs_ro

Yeah that's it, moved some albums earlier and was very quick, only problem is now that app starts every time the stereo turns on, think it's trying to read my 4g dongle though. May be ok for you.

Does It need to buy the app to it works? I installed the free version and it's not working. I installed the app in the Android Head Unit, connected the smartphone in the Android Head Unit and in the Paragon app shows the message "Connect USB to the Device"

No need to buy it, should be able to select file manger from symbol of folder down bottom right. When you get to screen with a filing cabinet on it, go to symbol in top right with 3 horizontal lines on it. This should allow you to scroll down and see your device.

Is the nook color capable of this?

I have a half decent sound setup in my vehicle, but I'm unhappy with my head unit, I would like to mount my nook into the dash, and use it to play audio to my head unit, which I would also store all of my music on the nook, or tether my phone's data connection for pandora/youtube/etc.
I know I can do this now as is, but the quality loss over auxiliary is less than preferred.
So my question is: Is it possible to get the audio playback through a usb cord into my head units usb port?
I can play a flash drive off of my usb port, or if I use my phone and plug it in and put the phone in storage mode I can skip through all audio files on my phone using my headunit. I would like to be able to use the music player app on the nook to select the music for an easy interface for finding my music, rather than using my headunit to seek through nothing but a random list of track numbers.
Thanks in advance.

Beyond me, have you considered bluetooth, if you are able to keep it close enough? Also there is a thread somewhere on USN pin outs, and you might find some ideas here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294860

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

New apple CarPlay usb dongle for android headhunts and tablets.

The above video is my review, i have it working great with my ownice c200 headunit. the usb seems to register that to the iPhone that it is a CarPlay device. the CarPlay UI apparently is stored and sent from the iPhone its self to the usb dongle and then sent to the android app. the app then sends touch and audio commands back to the usb dongle and then to the iPhone.
i can send photos of the internals of the device to any one who wants and a link to the APK.
MOD EDIT: removed email address and mention of selling head units. XDA is not a place to make money!
great !!!

New firmware update allowing the box application to work in the background.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0Bym9XrdeViekOTF1VWRoaTlkb1E?usp=sharing
First Step: updating the CAR PLAY USB DONGLE
Plug in the car play usb dongle on the PC, copy the "update.bin" file under the root of the dongle, no extra file folder and no any operation, just wait for 5 minutes, it will be quit automatically after updating, then pull off the USB dongle.
Second Step: Uninstall the old version ZBOX softare from the car audio, then intall the new one, then it will be ok to work.(With the new APK in the attachment and follow the manual)

The issue you are experiencing with the zbox having 'stage-fright' has to do with the power requirements of the zbox device. Some USB bus' don't provide enough power (or borderline) so functionality is intermittent. If you use a powered USB hub, that provides additional power to the USB ports, you'll have almost no issues.
I have connected a y USB adapter.
Has anyone tried one of these on a PX3 RK3166 head unit?
I have one but cant get it to work.
It connects to the apk but wont connect to the iphone.
Tried the update to firmware and apk, still no joy.
Not sure if i have a faulty dongle or it's a compatibility issue with these head units.
Alibaba seller suggested not enough power on head units usb?
I have the same problem with one of these.....
I have tried three android units now and I still can’t get them to work....
Android 4.4 it says its connect but the iPhone just shows as not found....
The other two are both 6.0.1 and the zbox just shows connecting all the time!
If any one has any help it would greatfully be received..
Or for that matter any software updates.....
Mine is showing apk: 2.1.0
Zbox versions: 2.1.0
Many thanks and kind regards
Mine works and I have a px3. I updated the device and installed the latest zbox app before I tried it. I would try swapping out cords and making sure they are certified by Apple. The only issue I have with mine is that it cannot be controlled from the steering wheel.

I use a second usb-plug and a y-cable to provide sufficient power to the device.
What do you guys do with regards to phone calls? My phone is obviously paired to the head unit via Bluetooth, so whenever I get a Call, it jumps out of CarPlay/zbox to the Stock phone interface, however the phone still transmits the audio to carplay and not via Bluetooth by default.
How any of you solved that problem?
If you are using CarPlay why do you have Bluetooth paired? Every car I've been in with CarPlay diconnects the phone from Bluetooth.

I have an Eonon GA7157 running a:
CPU: Allwinner R16 1.6GHz Cortex A7 Quad-Core
RAM: SAMSUNG DDR3, 1GB
Storage: 16GB
I have tried App and Firmware 2.x and 3.x. No joy. All I get is "Connecting" when the usb dongle and app is started. It never gets passed this "Connecting..." stage. USB devices like keyboards, mice, USB Flash drives, and even video camera work fine on this headunit. The Zbox Z1 and an OTA tuner don't work for some reason.
I did some more troubleshooting and found out the following: The dongle works perfectly on my PC running Remix. I also tried it on Samsung Table A; on this one, same symptom as the head unit, so I tried using an OTG cable and what do you know, it worked perfectly.
Therefore, I have 2 possible explanations: The headhunt's USB cable needs to be hardwire as OTG or Eonon somehow has decided to block certain type of USB devices that request data asynchronously. Why? I have not clue... I wish I could disable this flag in the OS, but I have not clue where it can be done. My headunit is rooted, so it should be possible in theory.
Hello, could you post pictures of the internals? I'm very curious what's inside the lil dongle. Also: do you still have some of the dongles? haha

Android (headunit) networking question/s

Hi guys /girls
Quick question for those that understand networking etc.
I know from my phone how to connect to my home pc via wifi. Works instantly, fast and I can push /pull files easily.
What I cant seem to do is the same from my android head unit to phone. I thought that was what dlna was supposed to do.
Both android, unrooted 7 and 8, and I have specially got a mini router for the car.
But everywhere I search for info, its always about using android to connect to a pc. Is it not possible to 'share' a folder in android and access it easily from another android on the same wifi lan?
So in essence, apps on head unit would see the 'networked (phone) folder and that would be as accessible as a local one.

2022 Chevrolet / GMC Refresh - adb help!!!

I just purchased a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado and it has the refresh interior. This includes a 14.1" android tablet as the radio.
This device is running Android 10. I have enabled developer settings, but can't seem to get any devices to pick it up in adb mode.
I've tried with my phone (wireless) and with my computer (wired).
I'm trying to side load some applications to it.
Can some one help me in this forum?
Thanks in advance

Unfortunately not. I've never had any issues doing this with android devices. Any advice would be appreciated
Darn... I havent been able to either.
I was really hoping to be able to sideload some basic apps since this is more or less an Android tablet in the truck.
Any luck on this

Which android stick did you end up going with? Also does it work in full screen?
I tried one from Amazon but it only works through apple carplay so it only shows on 2/3 of the display.

Hey, this is kind of a stupid question but.....along similar kinda thought, when I connect my phone via USB to my car, is there a way I could see and change the stock parameters in the sound system to something more like my liking. I use wavelet with my phone and when I plug in with USB in the car to drive even the car is effected. Without the wavelet it doesn't sound the same. I'm wanting to see if I can somehow do that so I don't gotta plug my phone in with wavelet. Cause sometimes wavelet acts funny.

I am using the M-Stick MG-S01 off Amazon.
It don't show the whole screen but most. It's also not the greatest, but it works for the most part. Which one are you using?
I was able to get ADB to recognize this system. However I get the error from android ADB tools "The Secure ADB mode is enabled. Please use the GM Secure ADB Client tool to authenticate first." I am looking for a way around this. Any ideas?
Also note I have firefox and airscreen(airplay mirroring) working in the GM emulator so if only ADB worked we could be having so much fun.

I also have a refresh Silverado and just tried a CarPlay box, how did you get it to go almost full screen? Mine still shows the side scroll menu with the clock and media player
I'm assuming you know how to activate developer mode by going
Touch "Settings"->"About"->"Build number"->then tap the white file name several times and it will count down how many taps it takes to enable it.
Still trying to figure out how to sideload apps if anyone has made any progress.

Am I wrong in assuming the UIS8581a (sc9863a) is an FYT head unit?

Hi,
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, but I've been scouring these forums trying to solve my 10.25 8/128 SPRD 8581a problem. The only thing I really want to do, is attach an OBD2 reader for torque. I have a 2014 F22 BMW, and DeepObd can read from my wifi enet adapter, but torque cannot! I'd prefer to have a USB adapter, and it shows the option of auto opening torque, and I can select the adapter, but it never connects!
I've downloaded several scripts and apps for this platform, and none of the work, and say it's not an FYT unit, but everything I've seen in countless forum posts, is that it should be? I hope someone can help me out, I'm at my wits end.

That's why I'm so confused as well! I thought they were all fake android 10, so this is extremely weird. There's a 1.6gb update.zip in the head unit, should I upload it so you guys can check it out?

Ok
Post a link to where you bought it, at least we can compare the features to an FYT. With the known issues of the FYT and the MCTD it would be useful to compare a 3rd option for the next upgrade or faulty unit replacement. For now this could be moved to the Android General section or once you have the link start a new thread.

Looks like their 12.3" screen is used on just a few selected models like BMW and customised, for my Subaru its a bog standard FYT they supply. Pity as I doubt they will have an incentive to cover the FYT standard offering.

Damn shame. All I want is for torque to show my gauges. It's so frustrating that it recognizes the USB OBD2 scanner, but it refuses to connect. I'm able to set it in host mode. My enet wifi adapter only works in one app, which of course isn't torque. Guess I'm going to attempt some adb commands. It says it's got Bluetooth 5.0, but of course it only broadcasts its own name.
No much help for you possibly but I bought a cheap USB OBD unit, it works with my FYT but only after using a cable with an OTG enabled phone adapter added on the end, I then needed to add another adaptor micro USB to a full USB male plug so it would plug into the FYT. Until the OTG adapter was added I could connect using Torque Pro but could not read any custom PID's. So worth a try and adding OTG to your cable as a stab in the dark.
Torque Pro say you need OTG for it to connect properly to a USB OBD2.

What's funny is that it says it's rooted already. I can send command and get SU instantly over wifi adb when I enable USB debugging. I can even get into fastboot/recovery no problem, I just don't know what to do after that. I pulled some config files from the unit about the bluetooth, and I'm 99% sure it can be edited to link with a bluetooth OBD, you just have to edit the address of your paired phone to the OBD in the config. I'll put it up here to show what I mean. I pulled these from data/com.autochips.bluetooth. I have gotten an ELM327 usb to hookup to USB 2 on the HU, and it keeps its connection, I made a thread about it.
