Well, I can call this device stock ROM as "Nexus/AOSP Experience". Since Pixel's android looks and feels slightly different (if not different) than nexus and android "one"s.
I might be biased because i'm a fan of Pixel phones (and ex user of Nexus phones). But for now i might better wait and alternatively use Pixel Experinece Magisk module. I would be glad if this ROM will come to our device.
Just saying. No pressure.

There are differences. Android One feels more like.. AOSP, like a pure Android.. would love to see Pixel features like those pop out menu for on/off, the animated nav bars, etc etc.. plus with regular updates from custom ROMs better than having to wait 'kinda delayed' updated from xiaomi. And longer & better support (hopefully longer even after P) I suppose..
The closest you can get at the moment is by flashing my module via Magisk.

So now we have several MIUI roms for N1 but which one is the best?
Stability,performance,packed goodies....
Which MIUI is the best and why for you?
Why is MIUI so special? Just go buy an iPhone, it's kind the same... Really, I don't find anything special but heavy modded graphics. What do you use MIUI features for?
It's simply the fastest roms for N1, the menus just fly
I find Enomther's really fast.

Maybe some would love the UI but hate the OS?
I have seen some people adding WP7 UI like into Galaxy S. All these just show how flexible Android can be.
That's true, but being like that, someone could just create a iPhone-like launcher touching nothing else.
If you keep using the MIUI stock Launcher than yes it looks like a far family member of iphone, but if you use the exellent ADW you gain the extra speed from MIUI + some goodies like the Themes while having an Android UI
CM7 is also very fast but unstable for me whatever is the build: dead touchscreen when calling could happen any time

I hate people who attempt to re-create WP7's UI on Android. There is no way you can properly emulate the simplicity and beauty of WP7 with static blue icons. MIUI may try to copy the iPhone over to Android, but even then you have to remember it is simply a User Interface. Android is still under there, not iOS. Everyone knows out off all the major mobile operating systems Android lacks in the UI department (opinion, of course).
And MIUI attempts to remedy that problem.
i tested [ROM] Miui-AU ROM (english/german) but it isn't that fast.
The Launcher ist laggy (compared to GO or LP) and no scrollable widgets...
i know you can use a different launcher, but then i dont need MIUI...
I just want to recall that this topic is about which MIUI is the best, not if MIUI is good or not...
Ive been using Eveek's eMIUI for a while. I reckon its the best one out of the lot simply cos its the most stable version around.. Also Ive noticed this rom is near enough stock with very minor tweaks. Compare it to others they have heavily modded the stock version which wasnt to my liking!
i had no idea MIUI was so much faster. why is it faster? i only watched one video on MIUI and it was kinda cool but i never tried it out. am i missing something by not trying it?
MIUI is always ahead of the curve when it comes to design and innovation. It was the first with lockscreen music control, the first with power control in the notification bar, the first with a built in theme manager system (with an online data base for easy theme searching and downloading), the first with FM radio on the N1 etc. Not only did it do these things first, but it does them the best.
It has an absolutely gorgeous UI (hi-resolution icons, transitions, themes and menus that blow stock Android out of the water). It's fast and has amazing battery life. The folder system for App organization is light years ahead of the app drawer, which is archaic and inefficient. Also, the support for this ROM is amazing!
Let's get real, it takes some of the best elements of the iPhone UI (ex high resolution, unified icons) and combines it with everything great about Android. Those saying it's just trying o copy the iPhone are ignorant and should really just get their heads out of their asses.
Sure, it might not be for everyone but I would encourage people to try it first before they dismiss it. I was skeptical at first as well but I've been using it for months now and have no intentions of going back to anything else. I flashed CM7 to try out but it doesn't compare, that is my opinion.
And I would recommend getting the stock ROM from miui-dev.com just because the support for the stock ROM is so much better than the MIUI ROMs here. There is an online theme database that comes as an app with the ROM anyways, so you can change up the look very easily if you choose to do so.
ya you are missing out, it is highly optimized, solid fast, great battery life, weekly updates, everything makes sense..hence why cyanogen has borrowed some ideas/stuff. Most people just talk **** about miui cuz it looks iphonish, let them be nubs because from the ground up miui has alot more development and is way more advanced than alot of other roms out there, just my two cents but they are worth more than others
I'm not sure whenever I'd consider MIUI one step ahead the current UIs. I find no user friendly evolution, just reordered things. I mean, no intelligent way to launch an application (and no, gestures are NOT the way it will be as you have to remember the gesture), no "outstanding" graphics (I'm not impressed by them, not after 5 minutes handling it).
Is it fast? People in this thread have already replied: it's not fast, it may be faster than CM (which IMHO is getting too choppy due to too many under-the-hood things users are not interested in), but it's not faster than Enomther's, for example. No way.
Why is it followed then? Really simple: it's not the usual CM ROM. If only there was another launcher, people may not idolize this ROM. Kudos to the developers for developing it though, otherwise CM would be the (choppy) standard.

I well tested it as I pushed forward the italian translation, but I always been perplexed about its app management and launcher in general. Yes, I prefere the archaic and - IMHO - efficient current one. And no, there is not so much other code I'd import in any other ROM. From my point of view it's just a (shining?) iPhone UI with FM radio. Kudos for them releasing the radio part. That's all.

Can you give some examples of an intelligent way to launch an application? Just curious.
I'm partial to formel. He keeps up with the latest and its a one shot you're done rom. No need to fiddle with the language packs. I was using enom before which was a very good rom. I get similar batt with formel and the performance is a little smoother. I'm using adw as I'm not fond of the iphone layout anyways. IMO this is a good start for those that want to scope out miui and see what its about. Its pretty much bug free and stable for day to day use which for me is important. I need my phone to work.
I was an Enom fan too, complete rom and very stable but...you get tired pretty soon!
I used to play with Rodriguez's MIUI because it was full of goodies but God knows why he disapeared all of a sudden
Now I am trying Moviestar HD which seems stable but the Theme app can't apply themes downloaded even renamed into mtz, I heard MIUI-AU is the best on Desire but its adaptation on N1 is unstable
The themes work on formel except for the sms skinning. Dont believe that one is figured out yet. The rodriguez rom is good but is 3 releases back now and it has a fair few bugs I turned up in just a few days of usage. Overall the goodies didnt equal out to a newer and quite a bit more tuned up version of miui. I have not tried moviestar yet. Frankly I"m pretty happy with formel. It flat works.
I figured that I can use a custom theme via File Manager but sms app doesn't change like on Formel.
I think a newer theme app is available because it says so when I use it but when I try to download the link is not working!
I hope in next versions of Formel and Moviestar they will use the new fixed one, dunno about MIUI-AU
Hello XDA users and developers.
Any recomendations on what ROM(s) to try out for that Nexus experience on a OnePlus 2?
Also can I get provided with PROS and CONS of said ROM regarding that NEXUS/PIXEL experience??
Thanks in advance !

Beginner question.
What is the difference between a ROM being official and another one being unofficial?
I thought it'd be stability issues.

Unofficial means that the dev team doesn't support that device but instead someone else unrelated to that team develops roms for that device by using the source codes from the original team, after asking for permission, of course.
So, in case of any queries, you can't go to the team, instead, go to the dev developing the unofficial rom.
Follow up question:
ROM with no "slow charging" message displayed while charging?
or is it just the nature of the hardware on the OnePlus 2?
Pure nexus.. Thread by shubam

I used pure nexus and found AOSP Extended to be much better in terms of features and stability. Here are the things that made me change from PURE to AOSPEX:
-Google play store crashed a lot.
-Netflix can't be installed.
-some apps weren't compatible.
-No led customization options.
-modified pixel boot animation.
-slow fingerprint sensor.
-It's still on beta (AOSPEX It's stable)
-Not official.

-Bean Gapps mini
-Yes it does. But the one in pure nexus has a better wallpaper selector (if you really care about that)
The one thing i wish i could change in AOSP EXTENDED is to remove the huge AOSPE logo from the device settings sidebar. But that's just me.

I was able to install Netflix on my case for Pure Nexus. Also, the one thing I am not liking on AOSP is a bug on Snapchat.
Volume bars not accurate with actual volume.

-Oh i was able to install Netflix as well, the problem comes when you open the app and it shows a message saying that ¨the app is not compatible with your device.¨ This did not happen on AOSPE.
-Sorry about the snapchat thing, i don´t use Snapchat so i didn't notice about that.

Hello guys, since I saw pixel 2 launcher I I've been thinking in creating a pixel mod for our kenzo that would pixelize our kenzo with just one flushable zip.
Unfortunately although I study computer engineering my knowledge to do that is not enough. Can some dev look at this plz ! thx in advance. love to every single dev :fingers-crossed:
Why, don't we already have a pixel mod? And there's not much difference in the pixel and its succesors ui's.
I think we already have most things like
1.Pixel UI
2.Launcher and live wallpaper
3.Camera(at least like pixel)
What else is there??

the idea is to simplify with one zip only.
The pixel mod that already exist is only for nougat I think.

We already have two ROMs with pixel 2 features (even ambient display). All we need extra are the launcher, wallpaper and the camera. Is that such a big deal??
Will there be q dev willing to port miui 9 for our devices ?
Why would you want to do that? IMO, MIUI is a worse Android Experience than what Samsung offers you. And you loose all of the Samsung provided features for a worse skin.

Fair enough. I've only seen it so I don't have any actual hands on experience with it.
I would really recommend buying MI devices if you prefer MIUI skins. Why buy expensive hardware when same thing is available for cheap.
Who wants the skins?? The Os managment tools
The ram memory management is the best than in any other roms
I wish it will be ported to s8, there is no real custom rom available to our device yet.
I really want it! And for several good reasons too. Been using MIUI 8 and 9 for a year now. and some of th features are very nice in MIUI.
The best ever feature is the ability to LOCK APPS IN MEMORY. so they will never quit unless its an emergency. On all other androids ive used with for example Pokemon go. it never stays in memory. but on MIUI on Mix 2 i could lock the apps I wanted and they were never ever killed=) awesome! also the app launcher is genious. moving around and deleting several apps at once. and! the most important one. its freakking snappy!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIUI 9 was the best ever android experience I have ever had. no lag, slowdowns opening apps chrome etc. it just worked. and was there, when I wanted it. FAST!!!!!!!

I think xda developer just can't develope miui 9 or color 0s 5 rom for s8.. they are just porting s9 also yeah without s9 camera.... common show something....
I agree that MIUI on S8 might be a strange and surprising idea but if You had the chance to work on a Xiaomi phone with MIUI (that cost 150USD tax not included) You would maybe considering the same thing. The idea is not bad but I think MIUI wasn't designed to be displayed in better resolution and on the best screen on the market (Super AMOLED). Maybe the TOP Xiaomi phones would overcome the resolution problem but it may be a need for a new colors to look great on Super AMOLED.
Worst Android Experience??
I don't know what were you smoking, but MIUI offers more features than Touchwiz
I've used MIUI phones for years, and it still has more features than this crappy Touchwiz

I miss MIUI too. And the software support from Xiaomi. Xiaomi is by far the OEM with the best software support.
It would be great to have miui on the 8+

Samsung Experience:
Lock apps: Click on recent apps button > top right 3 dots > lock apps (also available in good lock 2018)
Move/Delete several apps at once: On samsung home launcher > hold the app > select items > click on the apps you want to uninstall/move/disable/create folder > select your choice at the top of the screen
You can run Miui PORTROM to attempt porting MIUI to the Galaxy S8. I tried that with the Galaxy S2 (Skyrocket) but nobody offered to help with the fixing of port rom rejects (when portrom fails to insert MIUI kernel code).
Plus there's the thread about Roll your own skinny MIUI. The post goes into massive details about removing much of the Chinese apps and so on. I'd never keep using MIUI unless I was certain nothing in MIUI is phoning home to China.

I don't remember TouchWizz much but MIUI certainly (and thats good for me) has not as many options to configure as Samsung Experiance on Oreo in Galaxy S8 for example.
I hope for a miui v10 on s8+ . That will make the best device ever. Maybe there is an exynos issue here.

Anything's possible, especially with an unlocked bootloader. But I doubt anyone will bother.
RR and lineage are pretty much as good as pixel but much more feature rich. RR comes with pixel launcher if ur looking for launcher too.
But honestly, there is little benefit even in RR and lineage IMHO...
Camera and battery life will be worse.
Touch buttons laggy.
Some features will be lost.
And these dont really have any features a good Samsung custom ROM won't have.
Practically speaking => buy urself a pixel or enjoy Samsung's awesome UI
It would help if we could hear ur opinion as to why you wish to run pixel on ur S7. That could help in giving you advice/ suggestions too e.g. Do you like the look better? Do you believe that it will be more customisable? Do you Believe that performance will be better?
