Hello XDA users and developers.
Any recomendations on what ROM(s) to try out for that Nexus experience on a OnePlus 2?
Also can I get provided with PROS and CONS of said ROM regarding that NEXUS/PIXEL experience??
Thanks in advance !

Beginner question.
What is the difference between a ROM being official and another one being unofficial?
I thought it'd be stability issues.

Unofficial means that the dev team doesn't support that device but instead someone else unrelated to that team develops roms for that device by using the source codes from the original team, after asking for permission, of course.
So, in case of any queries, you can't go to the team, instead, go to the dev developing the unofficial rom.
Follow up question:
ROM with no "slow charging" message displayed while charging?
or is it just the nature of the hardware on the OnePlus 2?

I used pure nexus and found AOSP Extended to be much better in terms of features and stability. Here are the things that made me change from PURE to AOSPEX:
-Google play store crashed a lot.
-Netflix can't be installed.
-some apps weren't compatible.
-No led customization options.
-modified pixel boot animation.
-slow fingerprint sensor.
-It's still on beta (AOSPEX It's stable)
-Not official.

Whats gapps did you use?
Also, does it have actual pixel launcher and not a 3rd party one?

-Bean Gapps mini
-Yes it does. But the one in pure nexus has a better wallpaper selector (if you really care about that)
The one thing i wish i could change in AOSP EXTENDED is to remove the huge AOSPE logo from the device settings sidebar. But that's just me.

I was able to install Netflix on my case for Pure Nexus. Also, the one thing I am not liking on AOSP is a bug on Snapchat.
Volume bars not accurate with actual volume.

-Oh i was able to install Netflix as well, the problem comes when you open the app and it shows a message saying that ¨the app is not compatible with your device.¨ This did not happen on AOSPE.
-Sorry about the snapchat thing, i don´t use Snapchat so i didn't notice about that.

Hello everyone,
I'm cooking a good taste ROM, but i don't like to make a " known " ROM features, with nothing new .
So, what do you prefer to see in a Custom ROM for Lollipop 5.1 for our beloved Xperia Z1 ?
good job bro in your upcoming rom realize I wish a rom with new Sony concept with 4K record a good sound mod. battery also the main problem in lollipop roms, no roms now Can compare with kitkat screen time anyway brother every one has a different wishes so I hope you wont be confused with people's complaints and questions
Good Job
double tap to wake, good sound mod and 4k video recording.
1. 300% total blacked out lollipop 5.1.1. firmware.
Yes, I supercalifragilisticexpialidociously hate the constantly changing colors. Don't get me wrong, the matte look is what I like, which is why I have 2 motorcycles that are both matte black colored, but this chameleon thing is just.... @#$%^&*() !!!!
2. Put back the original Sony Walkman logo & app please, same look (but blacked out), same feel, same menu/configuration screens/options BUT with a much louder audio output that doesn't break the audio quality when the volume is cranked up.
3. Highly, extremely debloated right off the bat but fully functional smartphone. Please have a look at this.
4. No added "Settings" on the Settings page.
5. No modified About phone page.
I honestly do not know if this is possible. You can have the Developer option already listed in the Settings page, but on the About phone page, at the bottom where is says Build number. Turn that into an option so when tapped on, the it opens another page with all the About ROM, About Kernel, About Author, About etc., put on for custom firmwares. So in that way it looks like a stock and official Sony firmware, but it really isn't.
6. Native double tap to wake and double tap to sleep function
7. Time lapse
Not a fan of 4K recording too because it eats too much space, not all phone can readily watch 4K recordings yet. Same with TV sets unless your the ultra rich or you always have to have the newest TV set that has 4K option on it.
8. Manual Camera controls like that of DSLR
Off course it still won't compare to the real DSLR cameras but to at least have a much better control over the camera would be nice.
8. Full screen contacts picture
9. Child lock
I don't know if you can ever call it native or embedded, but a child lock that isn't a 3rd party app I guess would be nice.
10. App lock
Like that of Clean master. Also same with #9. I don't know if you can ever call it native or embedded, but a non-3rd party app too.
A highly debloated ROM with a good sound mod and some screen saturation controls along with better battery tweaks and double tap to wake.
Sony concept OS in our device would be superb.
Full layers compatibility would be great too.
Sent from the future.
im a big fan of customization, so hopefully there is some difference.
Do you mind with a ROM size 1.6GB ?
Offcourse the actual ROM isn't 1.6 it's a light ROM, but with Mods selection and Aroma it's 1.6GB .
So you can control the ROMs Mods not the opposite.

@abo hani - suggestion if you don't mind: put up a poll if people would like Sony Stock or AOSP. And oh, yeah I'm reading more and more about layers - I like the total black out it's giving at least on the screenshots shown in Google Play store. If layers will keep the customization-friendliness going but maintaining the debloated-ness (if even remotely possible) that would be cool.

Stock offcourse, i'm not seeing " awesome " stock ROMs, every dev is putting random Mods, and i've tested most of the ROMs, they are not good as expected .

I'm gonna develop a stock based ROM, AOSP ROMs are not in my developing region, if you mean " dark / light " apps, yeah .. i'm gonna put them and believe me, the users gonna control the ROM features in every way, so you gonna feel like a ROM dev when you put your own customization .

@abo hani if you can add these too to your list it would be awesome: Battery Life, atleast a average day's use like 6+ SOT should be good.... Awesome sound experience, i am not saying stereo mod, Just a lot louder than stock and good clear audio... Camera mods would be good, even some third party camera apps, if they really improve the performance...
Last of all and most important, it would be good if it is a UltraSlim version of stock, like just OS with fully operational phone... And if needed add the rest as add-ons... I would prefer to have the mods implemented directly than using Xposed...
That's all.... That should be perfect.... I am not asking for an ETA (You can just skip it if you want to) but when you are planning to start it?? (Just Curious)
Are you going to use a existing kernel or you are cooking a new one for your rom??(Again Just Curious)

Kernel, i will put an option, i won't force the user to use a kernel, you can either use the kernel in options or the current one.
for ETA, i've already designed the banners & logos .. and put the plan for it, gonna start tonight

I'd say the only reason to go cutom ROM on this phone would be customization. The stock ROM is pretty reliable, fast, and easy on the battery. Especially if you start tuning up the custom kernels how you like them.
Stock doesn't feel like it's dragging a frickin boat anchor or god awful at memory management like on a Samsung. This phone doesn't have an ugly, laggy vendor skin. With MM (and root) you can use RRO layers to theme it - no custom ROM required. I've run custom ROMs for years because...Samsung. I'm kind of tired of flaky bluetooth, FCs, and stuff that just doesn't quite work right but is better than Touchwiz.
The only thing I'd really like to have that custom ROMs make available would be double tap status bar to sleep, status bar brightness slider, and notification led; most everything else honestly goes in the stuff I don't use / forget about category (well...slim recents would be nice too). You could tackle most of that with XPosed too, but that brings its own baggage. I've tried out a few of the custom ROM offerings, and for now I keep going back to stock. They're good, but not good enough for me to give up that stock stability when stock is so close to pure AOSP. We have Multirom too, so that makes test driving multiple ROMs really easy.
As for AOSP vs. CM, I'm pretty sure all the custom ROMs you'll find here have a CM base. You can find Broken for this phone too, and it usually uses an AOSP-CAF base. I haven't actually checked Broken out yet.

Thanks for the reply... I think I'm more concerned about flashing the wrong kernel.
For example I'm used to say flashing a Stock kernel on my Z2 Sony ROM, I could opt for CM Rom and know I need CM kernel. This difference seem so much more blurred here on the Moto X Style.
Also for example we have BlissPure, PureBliss, FrakenClark and Stock optimised [@VadimTk] there doesn't seem to be an easy way of knowing which ROMs they can be flashed on.
I'm new to Moto's so learning fast!
Frankenclark and vadim's are stock.
Bliss is for cm base.
The frankenclark dev dirtyhank has been bringing some great features lately, and hashbang has been picking them up and baking them into his aicp builds too.

I've tried that with Nova, but you have to double tap blank space on a screen, not an app or widget. I actually have swipe up mapped to screen off with Nova because that seems to work anywhere. I agree it's a pretty good substitute.
I think I could get everything I want/need with stock and xposed. I'll maybe root this weekend and see how I on with rooted stock mm...

Coming from Samsung to Motorola my only complaint really about stock is missing features that I just wouldn't expect to be missing. The two that stick out most for me is the lack of a number row on the stock keyboard and a lack of an interface for a clipboard for copy and paste. Obviously a lot of these things can be supplemented with apps and mods but that kinda defeats the purpose of having a stock experience.
Edit: Oh and no option for battery percent in the status bar but I found a trick to enable that without any modifications.

Sorry, xposed IS needed for centre clock AFAIK...
I personally hate CM. Ever since my first Android phone I've always avoided it. I tried BlissROM and wasn't happy with it. I haven't used an AOSP ROM for any phone since my MyTouch4G. The ROM I'm currently using is TruePureX, and it's been going great. It's stock, but without bloat and a few added features. Then I add Xposed and GravityBox and it's perfect.

So, I'm currently thinking on switching from stock to a custom ROM, and this is one of the biggest questions for me right now.
I have got used to the fingerprint navigation gestures and I think they're great, so I would like to know if you people know of a ROM that has this feature or if there is at least an app that can replicate them in the exact same way.
Thanks in advance.
PS: I'm also looking for suggestions of which ROM to switch to, I'm just looking for something stable enough, with great features, but closest to stock as possible. All suggestions except Lineage OS are welcome. Thanks again.

So you're saying all roms have the feature, but AOKP is the best (or the suggestion you would give to me) ?
What are the things you think are better on AOKP than on Stock, or how would you compare them?
Btw, would you mind uploading or sharing some pictures of AOKP? Like settings, SystemUI tuner, demo mode, additional settings for the rom, notifications panel, etc... ??
I checked the rom thread but the pictures there are basically useless for me. Thanks in advance.

Well, I can call this device stock ROM as "Nexus/AOSP Experience". Since Pixel's android looks and feels slightly different (if not different) than nexus and android "one"s.
I might be biased because i'm a fan of Pixel phones (and ex user of Nexus phones). But for now i might better wait and alternatively use Pixel Experinece Magisk module. I would be glad if this ROM will come to our device.
Just saying. No pressure.

There are differences. Android One feels more like.. AOSP, like a pure Android.. would love to see Pixel features like those pop out menu for on/off, the animated nav bars, etc etc.. plus with regular updates from custom ROMs better than having to wait 'kinda delayed' updated from xiaomi. And longer & better support (hopefully longer even after P) I suppose..
The closest you can get at the moment is by flashing my module via Magisk.

Hey guys, the one thing I liked about the stock ROM was that I could make the screen really dark and really bright. It's much more limited on the AOSP ROMs I've tried. Is there any ROM that gives me more control over brightness?

But brightness levels have nothing to do with skinning, no? If Xiaomi could change it, so could any other dev maybe?
My other two gripes with MIUI are the stupid notification behaviour and lack of colored music notifications + album art as background (yes that's important!) ?.
is there a fix?

Also, what is the best place to suggest / discuss implementing changes to MIUI? The official forums seem either dead or I get generic replies and little views.

While we're talking - does anyone else have the issue where 4G doesn't reconnect after calls? Sometimes it does after a longer while, but it's much quicker to enable/disable airplane more to get it to reconnect. I actually remember having a similar issue while on the stock ROM too.
