[Request] - Pixel 2 mod for our kenzo Oreo - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello guys, since I saw pixel 2 launcher I I've been thinking in creating a pixel mod for our kenzo that would pixelize our kenzo with just one flushable zip.
Unfortunately although I study computer engineering my knowledge to do that is not enough. Can some dev look at this plz ! thx in advance. love to every single dev :fingers-crossed:

Why, don't we already have a pixel mod? And there's not much difference in the pixel and its succesors ui's.
I think we already have most things like
1.Pixel UI
2.Launcher and live wallpaper
3.Camera(at least like pixel)
What else is there??

the idea is to simplify with one zip only.
The pixel mod that already exist is only for nougat I think.

We already have two ROMs with pixel 2 features (even ambient display). All we need extra are the launcher, wallpaper and the camera. Is that such a big deal??

Best ROM for that "Pixel running Nougat (Nexus)" feel.

Hello XDA users and developers.
Any recomendations on what ROM(s) to try out for that Nexus experience on a OnePlus 2?
Also can I get provided with PROS and CONS of said ROM regarding that NEXUS/PIXEL experience??
Thanks in advance !

Beginner question.
What is the difference between a ROM being official and another one being unofficial?
I thought it'd be stability issues.

Unofficial means that the dev team doesn't support that device but instead someone else unrelated to that team develops roms for that device by using the source codes from the original team, after asking for permission, of course.
So, in case of any queries, you can't go to the team, instead, go to the dev developing the unofficial rom.
Follow up question:
ROM with no "slow charging" message displayed while charging?
or is it just the nature of the hardware on the OnePlus 2?

I used pure nexus and found AOSP Extended to be much better in terms of features and stability. Here are the things that made me change from PURE to AOSPEX:
-Google play store crashed a lot.
-Netflix can't be installed.
-some apps weren't compatible.
-No led customization options.
-modified pixel boot animation.
-slow fingerprint sensor.
-It's still on beta (AOSPEX It's stable)
-Not official.

Whats gapps did you use?
Also, does it have actual pixel launcher and not a 3rd party one?

-Bean Gapps mini
-Yes it does. But the one in pure nexus has a better wallpaper selector (if you really care about that)
The one thing i wish i could change in AOSP EXTENDED is to remove the huge AOSPE logo from the device settings sidebar. But that's just me.

I was able to install Netflix on my case for Pure Nexus. Also, the one thing I am not liking on AOSP is a bug on Snapchat.
Volume bars not accurate with actual volume.

-Oh i was able to install Netflix as well, the problem comes when you open the app and it shows a message saying that ¨the app is not compatible with your device.¨ This did not happen on AOSPE.
-Sorry about the snapchat thing, i don´t use Snapchat so i didn't notice about that.

Pixel 2 Launcher Released

Apkmirror has the new Pixel 2 Launcher: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...ixel-launcher-p-4275643-android-apk-download/
According to this article: http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/1...-including-new-pixel-2-features-apk-download/ it works on any device with Android 5.0 or higher.
Edit: I finally found that it has already been posted. I searched before posting this, but apparently I didn't search good enough. Mods feel free to close this thread, and sorry.

I hadn't seen it until your post. Leave it up it really helped. Just installed it and I really like it on my Pixel.
Just installed on my N8. Pretty nice, I might leave it up for a little while. I've always been a Nova launcher guy.

I've not had any issues with it. I'm running stock Oreo on a Pixel XL though.
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA Labs
I installed this on a Nexus 5x and it works just fine. Though it is "stock" android so should be less fussy.
I really hate that the search bar is not removable and neither is the calendar widget. Although it is on 7.1.2 so maybe on Oreo I could change something in settings. I also hate that the screens don't loop around, since I've been using Apex launcher and have used Nova before also.
The tiny icons in the app drawer and the search function is way overdue. Even if I know the name of an app, I'll often miss it from flipping through the ton of app drawer screens too quickly. I can go through the tiny icons visually a whole lot faster.
There are definitely some useful features that I hope others pull into their launchers.
Edit: Doesn't work on my Note 4 on 6.0.1 stock.
Can someone please post and share the latest version of the Pixel Launcher. The one on APKMirror is that of the initial version. Went to my local Best Buy and played around with the Pixel 2 phones there and both had a newer launcher version. I believe it started with 8.1-something.

Well, I can call this device stock ROM as "Nexus/AOSP Experience". Since Pixel's android looks and feels slightly different (if not different) than nexus and android "one"s.
I might be biased because i'm a fan of Pixel phones (and ex user of Nexus phones). But for now i might better wait and alternatively use Pixel Experinece Magisk module. I would be glad if this ROM will come to our device.
Just saying. No pressure.

There are differences. Android One feels more like.. AOSP, like a pure Android.. would love to see Pixel features like those pop out menu for on/off, the animated nav bars, etc etc.. plus with regular updates from custom ROMs better than having to wait 'kinda delayed' updated from xiaomi. And longer & better support (hopefully longer even after P) I suppose..
The closest you can get at the moment is by flashing my module via Magisk.

Anything's possible, especially with an unlocked bootloader. But I doubt anyone will bother.
RR and lineage are pretty much as good as pixel but much more feature rich. RR comes with pixel launcher if ur looking for launcher too.
But honestly, there is little benefit even in RR and lineage IMHO...
Camera and battery life will be worse.
Touch buttons laggy.
Some features will be lost.
And these dont really have any features a good Samsung custom ROM won't have.
Practically speaking => buy urself a pixel or enjoy Samsung's awesome UI
It would help if we could hear ur opinion as to why you wish to run pixel on ur S7. That could help in giving you advice/ suggestions too e.g. Do you like the look better? Do you believe that it will be more customisable? Do you Believe that performance will be better?

Pixel Launcher?

So this is apparently a really popular request, but for some reason it's I guess impossible? I only see stuff like Rootless Pixel Launcher and lawn chair and stuff. Why is it different and possible to port a whole pixel ROM and difficult to port just the Launcher?
Honestly I just want the dynamic app suggestions google added in android 11. Anyone know a way to get those without a legit pixel Launcher?

I guess as the launcher isnt just the launcher, it's probably linked to the ROM.
I agree I love that launcher it's rapid and just works. Lacking some options though.
There was a launcher baked into AOSIP which was extremely similar but I've never been able to find it and can't remember the name, lol sorry not much help that but it'll be listed in the AOSIP threads on XDA, might be an easier task than obtaining the pixel launcher.
I've been unable to get one that works myself too.
Not seen any success for this port...
