Hi,
I am writing an application that gets video from camera using Dshow.
I am able to capture from the back camera but not that one in the front
I am using
handle = FindFirstDevice( DeviceSearchByGuid, &guidCamera, &di );
to get CAM1: info.
I noticed a regsitry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sony Ericsson\CAMERA\
I change the key PROPERTY_SOURCE_CAMERA from 0 to 1 but this did not help.
Still getting video from the camera in the back.
any ideas?
u do noe that u can capture video with the front cam by tapping on the settings at the bottom right, then the arrow, then the top icon on the right and selecting Front as the camera source right?..
just checking...
already switched to front camera from the interface, did not help since I want to do it through dshow
How to access front camera?
Hi guys,
I tried accessing the front camera, with no success. I searched through the phone also, but got no where.
I don't see any settings tab on the right side of the screen. Please someone who knows how to access the front camera, please show me how to do this.
I also looked up under start menu < settings for any camera app, but did not find any.
Thanks.
click the cam button
click the settings button got a wrench on it
click the down arrow in the right part of the screen
click the Camera source choose front rather then back
before you asked I didn't know but camera settings seemed a good place to look
I think he wants use front camera with his own app not default X1 cam.
What about calling FindNextDevice ? Yeah .. pretty obvious, I know, but you did not say you have done it, so I just ask to be sure.
I found this:
Capturing video from the front camera on any mobile platform
the last post (by Kevin Loney) points to the following link:
Camera Capture API
I hope this helps.
Funny .. this thread is still marked as it had new messages. But it has not !
it has now
I followed the instruction as above but it did not function. Anyone here find the success of X10's front cam enabling, please kindly provide a step by step setting tutorial. That would be greatly thank to let other users access full feature of the device. Hopefully wait for such a thing!
I've been playing with the camera for a while not and haven't really found a difference between when I have it on auto focus and macro for close up pictures.
Has anyone else seen something different?
Also, is there any way to manually focus? I've noticed when taking pictures of things up very close that when I tap to focus, the item will get in focus for a second then the box will turn red.

Want to provide photo differences?
Mine won't focus on close (5 cm) objects without the macro on. I haven't tried the macro focus on distant objects.
Has anyone else noticed that the front facing camera is poorly aligned for video chat when the device is held in landscape mode? It's somewhat better in portrait mode but still not ideal.
Has anyone tried correcting this?

As a matter of fact, I noticed it today. I can't see as there's any way to correct it besides the "hammer and chisel" method
I to hate this
there should be some type of software adjustment as there is on my Hp Notebook
If the cam was centered at the top your fingers would be on top the cam in portrait mode. Paltalk chat required you to use the tablet that way ..with the cam as it it is works kinda Ok..
i so wish laptop and tablets would have a way to adjust the cam.. There was a Toshiba notebook with a cam that would flip to show the other direction . maybe a software mod could be created.. I know its possibly because it has digital zoom .there is prob a file in the driver folder with alignment settings..
Whenever I take a photo it seems to be always orientated in landscape. In the stock gallery app, the photo will automatically view in portrait, but in other photo viewers it'll display it in landscape. Is there any reason as to why it does this and anything I can do about this?
Check the settings in the camera app, you can pick one or the other.
What is that crap at the bottom?

hello when using the front camera, when i take a picture, it looks fine in the thumbnail in the right corner, but after pressing on it or going into the gallery, the picture is all black/dark. the issue corrects itself after a restart, but after 1-2 pictures the issue reappears. seems to work fine with 3rd party camera apps. anyone else having this issue?
