Edit: Read 4th post
As mentioned in the title I'm currently looking to try out some custom kernels.
But i am not really sure if there are any because most custom kernels don't really mention something about it working on stock roms.
Mostly they just name LOS and AOSP as compatible roms in the title and also in the description.
Thats why i would like to ask, has anyone tested some custom kernels on the A2017G running stock 7.1.1 B08 (V1.2.0B08 to be specific) and can tell me if they work?
Thanks in advance ^^
When they don't specify stock they will not work. Pretty sure there are no custom stock kernels for N.

I just looked through different kernel threads and read through other ppls posts if they mention that they tried on stock (took a while)
Some actually installed a custom kernel (like beast kernel or llama sweet kernel) and said it works on stock except for audio. They only mention that audio is not working at all.

Ok i read through some custom kernels threads posts for some hours yesterday. For example, Beast kernel was originally for stock for the A2017U. But then it moved to Lineage only.
And well the other kernels are all only for lineage or specific custom roms.
So my question is answered for now. All i can do is hope there will be stock custom kernels some day for the A2017G

Look. There is none. I talked with the llama sweet dev and he didn't wanna. Same with Kranoner, he doesn't know how to fix the camera
The only one that sorta worked was Beast mode on stock and it locked the camera to 13mp max

Hello all,
I was wondering why arc's developers are only working on custom roms which require custom kernels... I am not a rom developer, I am only java developer with knowledges about the android development system. That's why I wanted to tell you this question. We have GB roms based on stock 2.3.4 which run very well with stock kernel. Like aniking or TEAM rom. Is it about the lack of recovery in the stock kernel? Or the lack of performance in the ICS stock kernel? I can't unlock my bootloader (Carrier branded) and I don't want to unlock it by tespoint for now.
Thank you for your replies
About the possible mistakes, I'm French, sorry for that.

I've experienced the stock kernel as heavy on the battery. Replacing it with CWM stock kernel or other increases the battery time, atleast that's why I rather stick to the custom roms and kernels.
Customs kernels have more battery drain than stock so prefer them if you are heavy user I think you confused..the customs have other benefits.

I agree, custom kernels have bigger battery drain than stock in most of the cases. But that's not my question : Why there's no ICS roms that run on stock ics kernel? I know the benefits of custom kernels, I used them with my previous X8. But for now, I can't unlock my bootloader.

i been using doomkernel and haven't seen a significant battery drain in compared with stock. or maybe the difference is just not far apart. used custom kernel just so i could oc that slow 1ghz

Any ICS ROM based on stock firmware will run on stock kernel. Arconium ICS works fine on a stock kernel. However we need the recovery to flash zip files and make backups.
I have a question, there is progress of a custom user software on the device? (Z00D), I just came to XDA and see a lot of firmware range to more expensive models (ZE551ML and others), and on our ZE500CL's nothing ( I'm sorry for my bad English ) P.S Can someone is already working on the firmware?

There was one user that offered to port Cyanogenmod( @jrior001 ) , but Asus didn't provide a working kernel source file needed to accomplish that. They have updated it twice already, but I don't know if they fixed it yet.
So, we can only wait and see. We probably won't get a custom ROM, again, thanks to Asus, but who knows, there may be some hope for it.

The updated kernel source filled in the questions I couldn't solve. I already posted a working TWRP recovery build in my recovery thread. I started working on a CM port with some guidance from the Zenfone 5/6 devs as the ze500cl/Z00D models are closer to those devices than the other zenfone 2 models. When I have something that mostly functions I'll get a thread up.
Word to the wise, I tested my recovery by flashing a full stock build.
While everything checked out OK including flashing Intel's "unique" boot.image format, a full stock flash undid my unlocked bootloader. Something to look into for anybody tinkering with modified stock ROMS.

Bro, I'm almost positive he's done developing for the z00d. He gave the ze500cl to his kid. I had to get a different phone, unlocked gsm, unlocked bootloader, about 25 roms to choose from, moto g3 2015... Best buy was $150. This zf2 is dead, unless someone else picks up development.

Hi, I am currently running stock 7.1.1 on my Nexus 6P, I love Android pay. I use it nearly every day. With CM14 on my previous phone I could not use it. Do you know if there is a workaround for it? Or should I just stick with stock

The normal workaround people use involves using Magisk, Phil's SuperSU and a compatible kernel. If you do I search through the ROM threads you should find lots of posts regarding how people got Android Pay to work on their rooted phones.

I've seen those, haven't seen it with the new Lineage OS. With the rooted stock ROM on my m9 it worked but not with a custom ROM. So would it be the same with Lineage?

I know people are using it successfully on Pure Nexus, Megapixel Rom and Cortex Rom. If Lineage has built in Super user like it's predecessor you would need to turn that off because you need to be rooted with Phil's.

Yes I did, I'm running the latest Lineage OS 14.1 Rooted and use Android Pay with my BOA card.
Edit: I could not get stock kernel to work, had to use ElementalX Kernel.

I am pretty sure nothing works anymore. As long as the bootloader is unlocked, then you are screwed. This is the exact reason we need a root option without unlocking bootloader..
Title. I was sure that one build of RR had it then they took it out later. I'm confused as to why?
Unfortunately none of them do. I use the Bad Boyz stock based ROM because of this. As soon as an AOSP based ROM adds it, I'll jump to it.

What ROM's are people running on their Verizon LG V20? Im getting ready to root mine and go through that process. Looking over the ROM's though and they seem to be lacking. Back in the day we had tons of options, now we have a handful on XDA. Are there ROM's people are running that arent listed?
Using the LineageOS weekly builds and they've been pretty good. Mostly just missing out on the second screen though.

That's true for anything. Just going out on a limb here, I'm guessing since we are in the LG V20 forum its safe to assume we are using that device.
Next time come prepared with proof of your claim. With no proof and bold claims you sound like a fool.
as Android goes further the ROM field is super small now KK had the biggest amount of ROMS not a lot of this model I have this version too we have RR DU is coming down the line Lineage WETA AOKP Here is a list of ROMS https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=us996&type=files
I have a ls997 and im running Paranoid Android.
I have a vs995 and I'm running XOSP ?

The Verizon build of not so stock is probably what you're looking for. Stock based so everything works minus all the bloat. Has static at boot, search some of the other kernels, there is a few that fix static at boot.

None I had issues getting it to work had issues booting found weta it worked it has a janky root but it worked and Pokemon go worked and I don't even get the static lines on the screen...
BroeknOs to be
Currently I'm running stock OS on LightningZap! kernel (still in beta, but looking like I'll have a release soon).
I have gotten BrokenOs running quite well and smoothly. But lacking the second screen is what's holding me back.
On LG V20 AT&T (H910), btw...
