So, I got my 10 rooted and installed Xposed. I'm wanting to try Youtube Adaway found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-t2547316 Has anyone else tried this?
I use YouTube Vanced: https://apkchest.com/youtube-no-root-noads/
instead of Adaway since it doesn't need root

Hi, ivanmadzarov...
AdaWay and other advert blocking apps were 'pulled' from Google Play Store several months ago, as being in “Violation of section 4.4 of the Developer Distribution Agreement."...
See here for more details...
http://f-droid.org/forums/topic/adaway-and-other-ad-blocker-removed-from-google-play

------------
You can still install Ad Blockers from the F-Droid repository, available here http://f-droid.org/repository/browse...
...it provides a FULLY OPEN SOURCE alternative to PlayStore, in which you can install the latest version of AdaWay, AdBlock Plus and sundry other apps.
AdaWay itself, is available here...

Hi folks!
Has anybody on Kitkat Stock Rom (4.4.2) or Lollipop managed to get rid of Youtube adds by using apps like Adaway, Adfree or properly modifying android's Hosts file by yourself?
I've tried all above mentioned possibilities but without any success. It would be great if you can provide any solutions.
Thanks!
YouTube Adaway blocked them all for me
I was wondering if anyone else out there is having these issues or knows a work around for them
basically can't install gear vr, amazon prime video, netflix, etc
not sure if I need a root hider or custom rom to fix?
granted I'm still working through getting xposed working correctly, last I saw it was having problems with nougat but apparently someone's figured a way
So this thread is for discussing sideloads and getting apps working under root
My first thought is it'll probably go down a lot like snapchat, disable install everything re-enable
I have the G955U1. Rooted following both steps in the [ROOT]G955U/G9551U thread. Then, doing a search in the same thread, Post #744 has the fix for Netflix. My Hulu, Snapchat and Gear VR also work just fine (don't know if it's because of the Netflix fix too). I have not found a working exposed yet for this model phone. Maybe you should try the whole root process again?

problem with xposed is mostly with android 7 (nougat) itself, but there's a work around and it seems to function, but it's both unstable and some modules just don't work
edit: functions *conditionally* for androids via magisk, not stating s8 validation as of yet
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-nougat-sdk-25-arm64-t3639221
thanks for the info about getting these apps working though

I have Xposed running now and so far the modules I'm using are working fine.
Please help! I currently have an Amazon Fire HD 8 6th generation tablet running OS 5.4.0.1. with Google PlayStore and other Google apps downloaded on it. I like it but I also hate it at the same time. When I would download an app I would be bombarded with intrusive ads within apps I would use.
-- Is there a way to permanently disable or delete ads like using Adaway or some other way??
-- Is there a working root for Fire OS version 5.4.0.1?
-- Is there a working way to downgrade and revert to an older rootable OS version? If so is there a link?
--How do I get rid of the Amazon home screen theme?
I know some people were talking about using Twrp/CWM. How do I do that? Is there a link?
If your able to help thanks it's much appreciated.
Since it looks like the methods were recently discovered I am having a hard time finding the answer.
All I want to do is root the tablet and put on any version of android or any rom because I want to be able to use google family and can not get it to work in any form with it as a stock amazon fire.
I am comfortable running through all the steps to get xposed and everything else on it but don't want to yet if no other version of android exist for them ATM.

I am running Google Play Store, YouTube, Whatsapp etc on my stock 2018 Fire HD 8. No root, only unlocked bootloader. Search this Forum. There is even a method to root it via Linux.
