Hi, ivanmadzarov...
AdaWay and other advert blocking apps were 'pulled' from Google Play Store several months ago, as being in “Violation of section 4.4 of the Developer Distribution Agreement."...
See here for more details...

------------
You can still install Ad Blockers from the F-Droid repository, available here http://f-droid.org/repository/browse...
...it provides a FULLY OPEN SOURCE alternative to PlayStore, in which you can install the latest version of AdaWay, AdBlock Plus and sundry other apps.
AdaWay itself, is available here...

Do I have root access?

So I just bought a refurbed unit from Acer and I wanted to rent a movie from Google. Went in to the video application to watch it and it says that the application is not supportee on rooted devices. How can I tell for sure if I have root access or not? I actually don't really want it as this thing is just fine for me without it. If it is indeed rooted is there any way to reverse it?

There is a app on the market called root checker..
with it being a refurb its very likely that your tab is a OPEN Box Someone rooted did not like and returned.. If this is the case you will need to find a full not rooted rom to flash to your device..
you can also tell if you are root by looking for any of the fallowing apps in your app drawer
root checker
busybox.
Su superuser
su updater app
Acer Recovery Installer..
post back with more about your system and rom verion and you can be better helped..

In the Android Market, there's a free app called Root Checker Basic. All the app does is check the status of your tab to tell you if it's rooted or not.
As a first step, I'd start there and see what it says your root status is.
Good luck to you....
Thanks guys, root checker says I do NOT have a rooted device, which is good news for me, but now I have to figure out why my google videos is not working. Or just ignore it and not use google vids because they're uncool bungholes who wont let people with root access stuff that they paid for. Netflix anyone?

I have netflix and it works very well. thou i do not like to use the app to add movies to my que . i do that thru browser when i hit play it opens the app.
Wish i could help with the google videos issue. But i do not use that . as well as not heard anything about them. You might could try the google android support. but its kinda lame..
Also go into setting / about tablet then / system updates.
to run update check.. current version is 3.2.1 ..
And you are very welcome

[Q] Whatsapp for Nexus 7

Is there a way that I will can to install Whatsapp for my Nexus 7?
I don't know of a way to make it work on the N7. Their website says tablets are not supported, but you can download it from whatsapp.com/android.

It's possible only on rooted devices. You need to use another device that's compatible with WhatsApp, or an emulator like YouView to install it the first time and link it to your number. Then, using titanium backup or similar, freeze the app w/ data, and restore it on your rooted nexus 7.
I personally have WhatsApp running on my N7 32GB on v. 4.1.2. Updates to the app need to be done manually by using the apk found on their website.

Use the search function. You get incredible results, like this one.
Do you have the 3g model? Bcoz I installed an old apk which worked fine until today. After that I downloaded the latest apk from whatsapp.com and now that's working too. The message verification succeeded on the old apk in the first try itself..my nexus 7 is rooted but I didn't use titanium backup.. Im using the number that's in my nexus 7.
I didn't think it would work but I thought I would try. I have a 3G N7 that is not rooted, just plain stock jellybean.
I went to the Whatsapp website to download the .apk, opened it with ES file explorer and installed
I prefer the Helium method discribed by virusarus in post #204 here See also here

Apps missing from play store for certain ROMS?

I recently installed AICP Nougat. Great ROM. However, I am unable to find apps like Netflix and Mario Run on the Play Store. I am unable to even install Netflix with an APK that I downloaded. Any ideas what would be causing this? I am in the USA, running X727 on Cricket (AT&T). I'm about to try Omni to see if that has the issue as well, but figured I would check here first.
Thanks.
Using latest Omni, can't find Netflix on Play. Maybe it has something to do with Android version and Netflix not supporting it.
I have the same issue with Omnirom. Downloaded Netflix app from Apk4fun and it runs fine; so it must be a Play Store issue.

Your link got me to a version I could install. Thanks!
Im facing the same issue!
I have AOSP Extended v4.4 i.e. android Nougat 7.1.1. The app i noticed missing was Monument Valley, I seriously thought of buying apps from now on to support devs but seriously this brings me back to pirating
Is there any method other than apk? Even GTA V manual is not supported in my phone!
It may be region related. I have Omnirom and I can install Netflix and Monument Valley. I live in Eastern Europe. I had problem when google store said that some game was not available in my region.
Do those ROMs fail SafetyNet? You might have to use Magisk or something. This is why I don't bother with custom ROMs or root anymore, unfortunately. My gaming apps search for SafetyNet and root, and it's a pain to get SafetyNet working every few months after an app detects any SafetyNet bypasses.
It's just because you are root...
I have root with Magisk and I can install Netflix and the rest on the latest Omnirom.

Hide root to app on Pure Nexus (Nougat 7.1.2)

I have an app on my phone (Airwatch), that is required in order to receive my "work email." Well, in order for that to work, i need to basically hide my root access to that app. Doing so will make the app thinks the device is not compromised, and allow the authorization to complete.
I've researched quite of view sites and videos, but all seem be for older android versions or not for SuperSU.
Anyone had any luck hiding root to an app on Pure Nexus Rom 7.1.2 ?
Thank you!
Try this when naugat was fresh I couldn't get it to work for Android pay but I'm seeing more success on the forum now

That's a doozy of a thread. Looks like i have a lot of reading to do.
I sure hope something works. I sold my old phone and bought this Nexus 6P in order to root (for free tethering) and add a custom rom. I absolutely need my work email, so i hope i can figure something out without going to back to a stock phone.
You can use Google's tether for free without root
Oops guess not that was a long time ago when I needed that guess you did need root

Guess it depends on the carrier for tethering. I have the pain of AT&T.

I use Nine and use the software base security when setting up my work email. No issue with root.
As for hiding root, I use Magisk but I can't get safetynet to pass. Oh well.

I know Magisk has the "hide root" feature. But is it worth changing from SuperSU to Magisk? It sounds like I still won't pass safety net since I'm running a custom Rom.
Well, i figured a work-around to avoid installing Airwatch. I just added a shortcut to my office360 email, right on my homescreen. It doesn't notify me of new work emails, but at least i can go check them.
But i still would like to add my Snapchat. Is there anything floating around which allows you to use snapchat with Pure Nexus?
Magisk is the way to root and hide it. -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk
it's supported and on the stock ROM, Android Pay and SafetyNet passes with an unlocked bootloader and root.

Fire HD 8 2018 root and rom question

Since it looks like the methods were recently discovered I am having a hard time finding the answer.
All I want to do is root the tablet and put on any version of android or any rom because I want to be able to use google family and can not get it to work in any form with it as a stock amazon fire.
I am comfortable running through all the steps to get xposed and everything else on it but don't want to yet if no other version of android exist for them ATM.

I am running Google Play Store, YouTube, Whatsapp etc on my stock 2018 Fire HD 8. No root, only unlocked bootloader. Search this Forum. There is even a method to root it via Linux.
