Upgraded my dual sim s8 to Oreo. When the incoming call screen pops up there is seemingly no way to tell which sim the call is ringing. On Nougat there was a subtle identifier in the status bar where the receiving sim had an outline around it. With Oreo that's gone and I see no way to tell. Am I missing it? anyone?
If the call comes in while you are unlocked and on the device the small popup does actually identify which sim, as does the call history.
Seems like a pretty decent oversight on Samsung's part.
Answering my own question here which may help others. It seems you can only get that outline indicator in the status bar if you choose a default sim for calls. If you select "always ask" then there is no outline indicator at all. So for example if you choose sim 1 for calls, the outline will always be around the signal bar for sim 1, unless you are receiving an incoming call on sim 2, the outline moves over to sim2 while the phone is ringing so you can determine which sim is getting the call.
So once you choose a default sim for calls, (depsite the fact that you still have the choice of sim to dial from in the dialer app) it functions just like it did in Nougat.
This was a pain point for me. Thanks for the answer.
Still we should get an indicator that is quite clear and big instead of struggling to find out about very basic thing (which sim are we getting the call through). Looking forward for a fix on this

I just put in the SIM card on my smartphone and tried to call and I get a weird call tone - instead of one I get two overlapping ones, one being solid "beeeeep" and the other more like a bit vibrating one. And if the line is busy, the call ends with the usual "beep-beep-beep" but instead of the earphone it comes from a speakerphone and the worst thing is, it doesn't end until I press the "End talk" button whereas on other phones it usually ends after 3-4 beeps.
My question is - is this behaviour normal for the WM6 built-in phone? I kinda doubt it but still... And is there any decent replacement for the built-in call handler application or are they all based on the same built-in crap? I looked but I found not much other than skins...
I suspect that one call tone is from network and the other is from built in application when it gets the network signal, but there's not much I am able to do about it, so please, can anyone help?
Sounds like your profile. Do you have it set to ring, and vibrate at the same time? As for the end talk, that's normal for WM6 phones.
Actually it's not the profile, because I am talking about the tone that I hear from the earpiece - there's two of them. I am not talking about vibration, that's turned off. Just that the overlapping call tones - one is solid, other is vibrant beep. And it sucks that there's two of them...
In addition, here's one weird thing - when I put in SIM card from one operator, it does these annoying things, but when I put another, everything works fine. So it kind of depends on the SIM card somehow...
UPDATE: Got rid of the double call tone with a workaround - in registry under HKCU\\ControlPanel\Sounds\GCFTone changed the "sound" key value from "ringback.wav" to "silent.wav", for which I previously created an empty wav file full of silence and copied it to Windows folder.
The SIM card change didn't help. I currently conclude that
a) if the SIM card is SIM ToolKit capable, it creates this anomaly.
b) the problem lies with some unknown properties of the SIM.
The problem with busy tone coming out of speaker still persists. Haven't found a solution for it yet. Going to harrass Microsoft and the mobile operator with the issue now
What is weird is that as far as I know, this is the most advanced PPC forum and I don't get even ideas about which registry setting to look into or smth... That's a bit sad.
Thanks for taking the time to read this..
Just wondering if there is anything I can run or enable on my ORANGE branded Touch 3G to show that I have calls diverted..
I very often have to divert to my works phone during the day time and sometimes forget if it is still diverted.. My other phone (works Sony Ericsson) has a symbol which stays at the top of the screen when divert is set..
Any idea's... Thoughts etc...
Thanks Phil
not sure if i got u right, as i am not sure if you and i do understand the word diverted the same way...
but if you ask for an indicator for missed calls, you can adjust the length of blinking for missed calls (start - settings - "sounds and announcements" (i got the german rom).
there you go to announcements and then you change the blinking setting for missed calls to "allways" or "not ending".
I set my phone to send any incoming calls to my other phone (divert).
Actually the network does the diverting but on my other phone (SE K850i) a symbol is shown on the screen. All my previous makes off phone have done similar and I could do with the HTC doing the same..
Thanks....
Phil
If you mean this function or something similar to this:
"Ignore all: This mode rejects all incoming calls and goes straight to voicemail. The phone will stay on only for data access. The rejected calls will be added to the call history log and the standard missed call notification will appear on the Today screen."
This is only possible with additional software (afaik), for example this one:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/phonesuite/
(Free 14 days trial). I use it an it is very good, imo.
It ist not possible to see an provider-call diversion (= forwarding) on your handset (afaik).
The last line actually answers my question totally...
Thanks again for replying.. Phil
I have build a rom but for some reason the Carrier signal bar is empty. The signal LTE is marked but can only make call and not receive them. Another thing is that when on the dialer in a call if you press end the bottom half disappears but the call continues and does not end. I know there are a lot of devs out there maybe some one can help. I think its a file in the system/lib folder but for the life of me I can figure it out yet.
Whenever I get a call from someone, it will literally ring forever and voicemail never picks up. The only way I will get a voicemail is if I intentionally ignore their call by swiping the red bar. Is there any way to get this working with the 935F on at&t?
So whenever I am getting a call on my phone I am not getting the caller screen. Its just staying in the notification bar. So in order to accept or decline the call I have to pull down the notification bar and then do the following.
I don't know why is this happening.
If somebody knows the solution ,let me know, please asap.
+1 and this is irritating. Is there a fix?
Don't get it quite don't you have notification head's up on incoming call so you wouldn't have to swipe notification bar. Or you are talking when the phone is locked ?
Are you using bluetooth?
anyway: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/help/black-screen-incoming-calls-t3741578
Just try to force stop phone app in settings and clear data. It should fix it. Clearing data won't clear your contacts. Happened to me. I did this.
Erasing the app data is work for me ,thanks.
