SM-N910W8: WTF (want to find) stock ROM - bloatware + black menu??? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello,
i have a SM-N910W8
i have been searching via google and through threads here, and am still searching, while asking this question.
long story short i need to re-flash my phone. what i want/ am looking for, is a stock ROM, minus the bloatware, with a black menu/ layout. i really liked the black menu of my note 1, and really dont like the white menu of the note 4.
simple, non flashy, straight forward, fast ROM (non laggy)
so many ROMs with so many unique but non descriptive titles/ names, its rather overwhelming to say the least..
please, suggestions, of ROMs
thank you

Hi Pine Sol, probably won't have a ton of help with this request for a few reasons. The Themes and Apps section works to provide themes and apps, not host requests for them. Also, it's all subjective -- what might seem "simple" and "straight-forward" to you might not for me. Just gotta try it!
This might help once you settle on a ROM: [THEME][MOD][6.0.1][5.1.1][5.0.1][4.4.4] Customize Your Galaxy Note 4 (N910F) [25/07] Collection of UI themes, including dark options. Might not be perfect but, like just about everything here, it's free and zero effort for us users. Says it's only tested on the 910F variant but a UI theme should work on more.

thank you for your reply

what is a rom

im trying to customize my htc hd2 phone i dont know what roms are and how to install them and also if you could suggest good themes thanks in advance
There's stickies on top of every forum for the HD2, they are stickies for a reason. And yes it involves a lot of reading, and if you fail to read it all or choose to ignore it you'll end up with a very nice paper weight.
I'll help a little a ROM is not a theme. If you want to change the theme then look in the theme section in the standard HD2 section of the forums. Though most themes are centered around certain UI's like MaxSense, Cookies Home tab, etc, etc.

Ali, a ROM is a package that includes the full OS and other software on your phone. The stuff that came on your phone from the factory is the "stock ROM", and there are a large number of custom ROMs available here at xda that somehow improve or otherwise tweak/change the stock ROM to personal tastes and preferences. You can replace your stock ROM with a custom one if you would like, but the process is delicate and carries the possiblity of totally disabling your phone, permanently ("Bricking" it).
Themes are much safer, and a better place for you to start...in the "themes" section for your phone.
As for ROM's, there are some stickied threads at the top of this section ("Links to CABs, ROMs....") that have full instructions on ROM flashing....make sure you read them VERY carefully if you are thinking about taking that path. Then, read them again
Wow you just sounded like a father to me. Anyway nice to have ppl like you in XDA
Thanks Bro @Phunkee

Rom developers (some suggestions)

Hello to all that are interested.
I am making this topic just as a user with some pointers to developers. I have been in this xda community(or at least following it) for the past 3-4 years. My suggestions aren't I believe too much to ask for as it is things that were happening in the past all the time. I am talking about the good old days when the first galaxy was released and the development behind that phone was phenomenal. XDA community was bringing out roms for it on a daily basis.
Just to get specific before everyone starts flaming me. I am not complaining about the few roms available for the i9500(its not even been a month since its release), I am here to tell you things that used to impress me when downloading new roms in the past.
These things included themes, I mean every time I would download a new rom my phone would not only get a performance boost(battery as well) but it would look completely different to the previous one. I remember things like changing toggle colours (eg blue) or changing the dialer etc. Everything had very different icons all themed in 1 specific colour. Then obviously you would find features that we take for granted now but at the time were epic(eg, CRT animation when pressing lock screen button). Another thing that really impressed me at the time was when the top part of the screen was altered to completely black so it would look like the screen extended.
I am not asking for anyone to do any of these things. I am clearly just explaining one aspect that I believe has been forgotten in this community (or I have not looked in the right place). Anw, I have only seen 1 dev do some theming think it was the OMEGA team, but what I am wondering is if it would be difficult to put that in the AROMA installer as well as an option?
Also 1 last thing. Please do not flame this post. I have placed it in the developer section as I believe it was the correct place to put it. If not can a mod just move it to the appropriate section rather than delete it please.(Thank you).
If there is something other people think should be included please feel free to respond this is not a thread for things that must be done its just an idea thread. Devs you can see what people like and act accordingly
Thanks for your attention guys
Side note this is all based on a rom called simplyhoney for the s1(it was the most impressively themed Rom I have ever tried)

Questions that apply to all ROMS

I just wanted to ask some questions that apply to all the Note 4 custom ROMs, as there are some things that I do not understand.
Maybe others can ask common questions for all ROMS here too. We understand it is not ok and against the rules to compare ROMs, so no one here will do that.
1. From the ROM pages it is not clear to me if these custom ROMS still have the Note specific apps - SNote, Action memo etc - and all the Note features - resizing windows, that menu that pops up when you remove the sylus etc.
Do they all implicitly keep these features/apps if it's not mentioned in the description that they were removed?
2. If these ROMs are made on Samsung firmware, how much would you say is changed in % from the original?
Im asking this because I wonder if I should assume these ROMs are faster (less laggy) than the original ones. And if they keep the stuff mentioned at 1, how do they achieve being faster and smoother/less laggy? Just by removing Samsung bloatware?
Thank you!

[Q] OK... 'untouched' Note 3, want a Note 5 ROM... Now what?

There's so many different ROM's and Kernels and whatnot I'm lost.
I have an untouched 4.4.2 SM-N9005 and I want to get a Note 5 ROM or something new and flashy.
I want to keep the stylus functionality and a new camera would be neat too.
Could someone give me a quick rundown of what I need to do? (Root method? Bootloaders? Kernels? Which ROM? Patches? Xposed?)
Sorry, I'm so lost.
PS. I don't care about knox.
Would be better if you ask, if somebody can come to your place and flash your phone for you.
What you're asking for, is really the minimum basic knowledge you should have to flash your device.
And if you didn't get it from the numerous explanations and tutorials on the Web, will you get it now ?
I'm sure, someone will spoon feed you with the information, but will you then manage not to brick your device ?
You have some serious reading to do to catch up.
Good luck.
Actually as you can see I've been a member here for many many years and have rooted many phones and mod all kinds of electronics as well as many many other things.
It's not a matter of not knowing or bothering to do the research it's simply a matter of not having time at the moment. I have so many other things taking up my time I just thought someone could save me and anyone else who has been waiting for a good rom some time with a brief rundown on what they've found is best.
I'd love to try out all the different recoveries, roms, kernels et all but like I said, no time.
Android Development Darklord port .
Sorry no time for further .
Thank you that's the one I'd been watching but it's been on 2.1 for a fair while, perhaps with camera issues (op says so but people in the 1000+ page thread seem to say it's fixed? ) and every second post seems to mention some new fix or kernel required. Also I noticed there are some other note 5 ports now.

NOTE 5 Port N910F (Completely STOCK)?

I love the NOTE 5 ports for the Note 4 because they are truly awesome, however I have yet to come across a decent rom that does not have a branded reboot menu, by branded i mean, the reboot menu displays the devs name. Also, the added settings options in the settings.apk. Those are all terrible looking. Lastly and more importantly, the grossly ugly "about me" signatures. In my opinion, this ruins the the stockness look and feel of the phone. By this I do not wish to take away from any dev that works their butts off to create an awesome rom, but keep it clean..No need to rebrand the phone. My question is, is there a STOCK NOTE 5 port for Note 4 that is worth looking at on XDA?

Interesting post.....
First, let's review the sites name XDA-DEVELOPERS. It is not XDA-USERS. That is a fact that 60-70% of the members forget.
Everything posted here is a share. Because the creator was gracious enough to.
The point of a custom ROM is so it is NOT stock. The "additions" that you do not deem unnecessary are the whole point of XDA-DEVELOPERS !
To show the flexibility and showcase the modification possibilities available.
Rebranding the phone? I call it an artist signing their work.
Sounds like you need to go buy a Note 5.

I can respect that. "An artist signing their work"! more importantly i should learn how to port myself. I take it that no such completely-stock roms exist besides the "bases"? Or do you know of of any such roms, because that is the question i am seeking answer for..

You are correct. The options now are "artist signed" or Modded Stock Note 4.
Learning to port is definitely an option. I wish you luck with not. Not sarcastic, it's a hell of a lot of work.
Another option is take one of the existing ROMs and learn how to remove what you do not like about it.
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RELEASE ON XDA without the ROM creators permission.
Since you are basically creating something for YOUR own use that is allowed. And just cannot post it claiming as your own, (basically repackaging it).
That may be the quicker option.
That's a good point, I was looking for that as well and I couldn't find any, that's why I'm sticking to the stock Lollipop Note 4 ROM and add whatever features I like.
