Boot Loop and .. - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

.. I can't access recovery, though I am in download mode.
I have Odin downloaded and running. I can't seem to find my firmware (I haven't done this in so long, might as well be a n00b again) .. I'm looking for the stock firmware for SM-G900V(confirmed) .. Yeah, it's Verizon -_- .. Can't a fat kid get a drum stick?
I'll try looking some more while someone can try to help? Thanks in advance, I really need my phone .. like most people lol doctors appointments and disability stuff. Help a fatty out!

I must be doing something wrong, I keep getting "Auth Fail" from Odin

I can see only 2 possible reasons:
1. It's not a SM-G900V, check "Product name" string in Odin mode.
2. The cable is not good, try another one.

Ok, I've tried three different cords, two of which are brand new, and no dice.

I had one successful try on Odin .. Then it started boot looping again .. ugh

So do I.
If you had a successful try, this means that you've flashed a correct firmware at least once.
If the phone still bootloops, it looks like a hardware problem.
I'd be glad to mistake.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 Odin Modem Flashing Issue

I've looked everywhere, cannot find a solution even for other people who have asked in development threads.
I flashed a rom "Foxhound 3.2" and in the instructions it told me to flash a MJ8 Modem.
Downloaded the modem, and Odin 3.07. Stuck my phone in download mode via Power Menu. Unticked Auto-Reboot. Put the tar file in Phone. Hit Start.

Is there any update on this? I can't figure this out for the life of me despite all the resources on these forums.

Same here. I have Foxhound Diamond Dogs 3.6 and want to upgrade to the new 4.4 version. Getting the exact same error message that OP posted.
First time I post something useful and cant get help.
Since we are on our own, to those following the post.
Can you post...
Root procedure you used?
If you restored a back up, and are still facing the same issue?
what your "About Phone" reads under baseband after flashing a modem.
and if were all on carriers in US trying to flash a rom meant for international devices...<---this may be my issue.
Can you flash other KitKat roms?
"I flashed the Google KitKat edition, and it worked fine for a day. Rebooted my phone, started getting FC's by the second."
But yeah please just go through what you have done with your phone and the outcomes before this issue arose for you.
Some peer to peer research may extract the data we need to figure this fiddle-stick out.
I'm having the same issue on my Galaxy S4 Active with a locked bootloader. My IMEI got corrupted after an update. I'm trying to reflash the modem to fix the issue, but I can't get past the fail. Any solutions to this yet?

Okay guys, I have screwed up...
I will try to explain my situation as thoroughly as possible:
So there was a game promotion that if you had an S6/EDGE, you would get free content in that game. The only way (to me) that I could get it was change my ro.device.model number to appropriate S6 model number to fake having an S6/EDGE. I rooted my Note 4 (SM-N910P) using chainfire's auto-root. Everything went fine inthe rooting process. I downloaded the application that changes my build.prop (In play store it is titled "build.prop editor"). So I changed the ro.device.model to SM-G920F. I restarted my device so the game could notice that I "had" G6/EDGE. I was stuck in a bootloop. All I see is the Samsung logo. I can access download mode (power home voldown) and recovery (power home volup). I was freaking out that I was stuck in a bootloop. Then someone else in the reddit thread (reddit dot com/r/hearthstone/comments/3dkwew/how_to_get_the_samsung_s6_3_packs_and_card_back) said that he tried it on his Note 4 and he also got the same bootloop but he fixed it by reverting back through stock. reinstall kies 3(after unistalling it first)
use diffrent odin (3.04 ECT)

No youre not screwed(shouldnt be).
And No, dont continue to flash KitKat firmware or youre going to be wasting time and continually disappointed, no matter how many times you download it.
Once you get to a certain bootloader, youre not able to downgrade to prior(kitkat in this case) bootloaders. Flash the LATEST stock.tar through Odin and start all over.

Unfortunately that's gonna take a while due to my internet being reeeaaally crappy. It takes 3-4 hrs on average to download a 1.5 GB file.

Emergency Firmware Recovery and ODIN flash failing

Hi all,
I have a S7 Edge - SM-G935F (UK) - that I think had/has a software/firmware issue. It would boot and be ok if left idle but after about 5 minutes of use it would crash and reboot.
I connected to Smart Switch and it tried to update the software to the latest version but due to the device crashing after a few minutes, this failed. Then I was left with the blue error screen advising a software update has failed and to use the Firmware Recovery mode on Smart Switch. So I tried this and this fails at either 5% or 16% referencing an issue with the device.
Then I tried flashing the stock firmware in ODIN and this fails almost instantly with the following log entries:

Have you taken a look here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/guide-onelatest-stock-fw-csc-root-t3702963 ? It might be of use. If that fails, report back in. Now I think of it, report back anyway.
On top of the problem you got, i got the problem that when i open "smart switch", or Kies, none detects the phone, supposedly i should be able to recover it with the emergency thingy..
Anyway i can get to download mode, but it also fails and im using XEU-G935FXXU2ERGE

Hey, I've only just logged back in to check this forum - the link you shared no longer works, would you happen to know of another link that may help? I still have the problem - left this device as a dead in the water project!
Thanks a lot

Unroot and reset back to "as new"

So I got a Samsung Galaxy S8, and installed TWRP. I by mistake deleted the OS, so I have no OS on the phone now, I want to remove all the root and ****, and make it like a new one without any root. How can I do this?
I have tried multiple stuff using odin, but it looks like it stuck on <ID:0/005> SetupConnection.. all the time. Help please?
Have you tried flashing the same android version as before through Odin using the original cable?
i.e. you had android 7.0 and you're flashing 7.0 now and not trying to upgrade/downgrade

How exactly? All I know is that I had Android 8.0, and bought the phone from Norway.

Follow this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3598172
I'm assuming it's a G950F if you purchased it in Norway so the official firmware from:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950F/
and then follow the xda thread above

I will have a look at it when I get home tonight.
I did manage to install GoogleWiz : - but I want to just reset everything, and make it as new. Hope it works with the links you sent.
EDIT: Haha the link you sent with download says Approx. 15 kB/Sec. This will take a day to download

note that you will not be able to restore it 100%. Knox is and will be forever broken on your phone. And for that, all Knox related functions won't work either.

Maybe trying using Prince comsy Odin

(Not my link)
Given you were able to install TWRP I assume your phone can connect to your laptop so idk why it's not working. A quick Google search found people used older versions of Odin to get it working.
