Even if Mi a1 has got oreo update many users are still on nougat waiting for a Fast charge kernel. Just wanted to know if there is any development for the Nougat Fast Charge Kernel.

Maybe one day it can be possible, you just need to wait...
I think an USB Type-C can easily support Quick charge, but some work on kernel is needed (for DT2W too)

Devs are working very well, just see, they got 7/8 ROMs in a week, just wait, Xiaomi never released valid sources for their phones (it was the same story for my old Redmi 4 Prime).

Hello,
As long as I know, SD 625 supports QC, but motherboard don't, so if this is the case, even with a kernel that activate QC the motherboard of your mi a1 could get burned. If someone can say if it is true or no, I will appreciate it.

I think it depends on wheather the hardware for qc is present or not
1 word: impossible!
Nobody is interested in making a custom kernel for Nougat (atleast for our device).

Hey, everyone.
I bought my Mate 8 about two weeks ago. After my personal HTC-Desaster over the last year, i couldn't be happier.
The only thing, that keeps me wondering, is this current OS...
Sooooo, i'm saying it out loud to start the discussion ...
Does anyone know, if and when cm13 for the Mate 8 will be released?
Don't be so much disappointed, if answer will be "never" ))

Huawei Mate 7, much older device, also Kirin cpu = doomed = zero custom roms.

I'm right there with you...
Maybe, they will change their mind? I mean so many producers first said, they would never share the code, and suddenly they did.
I guess this is the dividing line...
I'm usually the one recommending phones to people and this phone is a great one, however, if there is no potential to get any AOSP/CM based ROMs on this device, then it is doomed from my recommendation on a large scale.
We should start a petition to change this, but I don't know who will join and if we will be loud enough to get them to listen.
What is the main blocker in this? Source code, vendor blobs, proprietary something-er-other? Is the Kirin impossible to get working because of proprietary drivers? Sounds like we just need more higher level devs to crack this? Maybe we can start a bounty to buy a phone for a dev that has a track record of cracking this kind if issue? Just brainstorming.

This is the link to the Ascend Mate 7 thread where they discuss this exact same issue. Maybe we can get some of them on board or get on board with them to push HW!

Thx a lot. I just posted our discussion at their board, with an invitation to join us, if they wish. Since it's same problem, we are all facing, i thought it might help all of us to work together.

I agree. On my last phone, HTC One M8, I have used CM for maybe a week TOTAL in 21 months. I have also used Google Play Edition ROM for maybe 2 months. I did not mind Sense ROMs as the performance was best with these, and they had good features as well.

Have used CM13 on Samsung S4. Rom: great. Camera: worse.
Have used CM13 on LG G3. Rom: great. Camera: worse.
Have used CM13 on LG G4. Rom: great. Camera: worse.
Camera drivers are also often propietary. So if (will probably never happen) CM13 becomes a possibility for the Mate 8 there is always that issue as well.
I'd rather run a custom stock Rom with proper camera than an AOSP one without. And the Mate 8 is fast enough to be a great device, when using another launcher like Nova or Apex for example.
As always: YMMV, of course
Hello. Back "in the day" all of the available OP2 roms that weren't Oxygen or Hydrogen (-based) didn't have working fingerprint sensors or laser focus or what not.
Has that changed now? When I look at the roms today, I don't see the "no fingerprint..." disclaimer.
LAF and FPS are working on CM13. If it doesn't say not working then they are working.
The FPS is a bit dodgy but I'd say it works 95% of the time.

I (also) got a Nexus 5x at work for development because it's Nougat-primed.
Turns out I really dislike it and as a result will stick with my Nexus 4 for another year or two for personal use.
I use cyanogenmod 6.0/Marshmallow on it daily and really like that... had to upgrade to 6.0 to test against new apis. (This also made it easy to install tcpdump and other utilities at the linux level.)
For now, I don't see a new device in my immediate future.
Am hoping the Cyanogenmod install of Nougat will be as totally bulletproof as 6.0/Marshmallow has been. My view of Cyanogenmod is very high after using the install for six months.
Best,
T

That procedure was valid for marshmallow. It doesn't mean that a dev can simply re-use this plan for porting nougat to n4. :silly:

I was planning to replace the battery, but almost all comments on the internet say that the batteries are not good enough, and are low price clones, and after a month or two the battery is useless because it drains after few hours (2 or 3).
Do you have a trustful seller to share?

Ive ported MIUI in the past. I MIGHT do it again. problem being is I don't think MIUI is on Android N yet. I was actually thinking of porting it but right now is a no. Im about to switch jobs so everything is a tossup.
There's a beta of MIUI on 7.0, but hasn't been released. And even that, it's on an older, slower Qualcomm or MediaTek device. So we'd need to get a build from the Mi 5S Plus for us to be able to port.

- Mi phones does not support 4G-network in Sweden.
- Mi phones have a high price in Sweden (Mi6 for example = $700)
- Mi phones have a really weird bootloader unlock process.
And go on. In Sweden does Xiaomi phones have higher prices than iPhones and Galaxys. That's why I use 1+ instead!
