recently I have noticed that the GPS is not functioning, it is not acquiring the satellite.I have tried all the usual troubleshooting like reset etc.
Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

Can you please provide the system screenshot with your security patch number, they baseband version and the rom version?
What reset did you do? Factory reset? Have you an unlocked bootloader and twrp or not?
I have Hard reset and also tried apps like GPS status to resolve this issue.
this phone is not rooted/bootloader unlocked its stock.

Do you have Location Accuracy set to High, rather than Battery Saving?
Which apps have you tried to confirm your GPS is not working, and what results do you get from these apps? You may wish to be outside to get the best signal from the GPS satelites.

Yes it's in high accuracy, even tried switching different location accuracy but no luck.I tried Google maps ,it show location inaccurate and then jumps around. Then I used GPS status app ,I found that it's able to search and list satellites but it's not locking to any satellites.
I even test with the builtin app called device help, it also showed tat GPS is not locking to any satellite.

Is this behaviour the same outdoors, or at least with a clear line of sight to the sky? I would like to rule out local interference if we can (e.g. tall buildings that may interfere with receiving the GPS signal). Where are you (generally, no need for specifics) and do other GPS based devices lock on okay? Did this loss of GPS happen randomly?
Can you check with the Satellite Check - GPS Status app and show the satellite graph or satellite positions graph, please? They should not show your actual location, please check before posting.
As you've done a hard reset, you could look into re-flashing the stock ROM, see if that repairs anything: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
If that doesn't, we may have to consider a service repair, unless someone has an idea?
I am on open terrace, this is happening freaqntly have done hard reset.due this I got lost twice during a long bike ride.i thinking of editing gpS.config file. could u just??
I did reset Wifi, network connection, full reset, same result, can't catch the GPS.
Opened the back and inner cover, pull both GPS antenna's pin, then put the inner cover again, done, GPS signal is back.
G4 plus is an old phone, the GPS pin (on board) loose the contact with the GPS copper pad (on the inner cover).

I bought a Evo recently, overall I'm very happy with it except the battery.
I have some trip recently so I began to use the gps and google maps,i found the latitude and longitude reported by the gps chip has a fixed accuracy error of about 300 meters to the correct value.
I have a Huawei C8500, whose gps can be called perfectly correct, it can show my position correctly within 5 meters, always,it helped me to go out of some mountainous area without road correctly.
I compare the data reported by the application gps status,i see the data on the two phones always have a little difference.
My evo is hardware version 0004, the latest 3.70.651.1 stock sprint rom.
I've known that it use rtr6500 chip from qualcomm,i will try to find the datasheet to check, but as I have seen online that somebody have good accuracy on evo, so I guess it's not chip problem.
Any good suggestion?

I use google earth today, it always show the current position within 5 meters, and the time delay is maybe within 100 ms,i checked it on a road on a mountain area with a turn every 20 meters in average today, google earth can even show each turn correctly in a unnoticeable delay, and it has full 3D support,it can even show the road just shown as what I see when I'm in the car driving, and even some look around function to check the environment in 3D, it's way better than google maps.
The shortcomings is that earth has no much info about the name of the place than google maps.

My GPS says it's correct up to 5-10 meters. So far it's always pinpointed me exactly.
As far as battery life, mines pretty decent. I'm running Myns with Kings #9 kernel

I checked the difference of the gps data of the 2 phones carefully today, in fact both the latitude and longitude difference are within 0.00005° most of the time, and the largest difference are just 0.00015°, with a calculator and a little knowledge of the earth geometry, the difference are just within 5 meters most of the time, and 15 meters at most, so the gps data of my evo is correct, the problem is google maps show the current position some hundreds meters afar always.
what may be the problem of google maps on my evo?i used nexus one for 10 months, google maps works correctly on it too.
I have no much incentive to use some hacked rom by now, as I have no interest to the system programming on android now to customize my own rom, and I don't like to waste a lot time to try the rom of others endlessly, no much fun after doing this kind of things with other phones in the past, what I want is just a phone that just do whatever I want to do.
I bought a 9600mAh/3.7V external battery,i can charge my evo fully 3 times by it now ( maybe it can charge more times after more usage) without charging the external battery, it's acceptable for now.

Try running and downloading the GPS ephemeris data with the GPS Status app in the market.. see if that helps

Google Maps obeys the phone's location settings for determining what method to use (GPS vs. cell and/or wifi signals). Check your global location settings and make sure GPS is enabled, and consider turning off "Use wireless networks", at least temporarily. I do not believe Google Earth obeys these settings, using GPS all of the time, but I could be mistaken.
I believe with both settings checked, Google Maps will initially use cell tower and/or wifi signals to estimate your location until it can resolve your true GPS location. It may even continue to factor in the cell/wifi signal information, which is why I suggest turning that option off while comparing locations between Maps and Earth.
Good luck.
It does not help about the accuracy, but google maps will pinpoint my position to another place about some hundreds meters away now.
This is really weird so I try to find if I have installed something that interfere with google maps, maybe found it.
I have installed street view on google maps in the past, but this application does not work without any indication that it exists, and it can't be either uninstalled or opened, it looks like a zombie in the system now.
I guess it's still working when google maps run, it only do some wired thing to make maps malfunction now.
Do you know a way to uninstall this zombie totally? If there's no way in stock sprint rom,i need to learn to root and flash my evo then, I really don't feel much fun in this now.

Hello everybody,
I have been trying my Galaxy Note for weeks in airplane at high altitudes/high speeds, till now I couldn't figure out when & how to use the Galaxy Note GPS as a reliable equipment as for unknown reasons to me it gets locked to satellites inflight randomly this could happens sometimes immediately & other times takes hours with no signal or 3 satellites at most, even when its locked to satellites it keeps working fine but if close GPS for 1 minute it couldn't come back to life again, one time I tried it locked already from ground before take-off and it kept working fine the whole flight as i didn't turn it off. I'm starting to develop a pattern on how to get a signal faster while in airplane and it seems to me holding the Galaxy Note like an LNB for satellite antennas helps you to get it locked faster I can't confirm this even its just an idea.
I hope some body can figure out why the Galaxy Note GPS acting like this inflight. Also if any one have some software that can let me send the GPS NMEA data I could use that to see my position on any windows map software like Google earth or aviation software like Jeppesn Flite star/JeppView
Here is some pictures for my randomly successful trials

not an expert on this. but sometimes if the device have satellite data cached while it has data access, it will lock on faster.
Back in my galaxy s days, the a common fix to resolve the crappy gps issue was to clear agps data and force the phone to get a new set of data from google's server.
Not sure if that's what cause your problem tho...
slow fix when in flight is possibly due to the speed you're doing at that point, it's going to be tough getting a fix when going that fast (coming from a cold lock)
From your pictures I gather you are a pilot as well
If you have a decent fix before takeoff, and you have your Note
stuck to the sidewindow, you should retain your fix.
As soon as you take it away from the window you
start loosing your fix fast. Reobtaining the fix will get harder and harder.
This behaviour is least noticable at ground level, most noticable with increased
speeds and altitudes.
Just stick it low on a side window in a mount, should keep working.
BTW : What the name of the app there ?
Off topic but what plane were you flying?

The interesting is that I had many cheaper Nokia around me on the same flights and all of them got GPS locked in less than a minute without any concerns how you hold the device just put it facing the windows nothing more so its unbelievable to have the latest Samsung state of the art Galaxy Note with such GPS unreliable performance, you can also notice in pic no. 5 the speed is only 180 km/h which is totally error.

Wow, I never owned a Nokia with GPS, but that is amazing!
I've seen many pax and crew struggle to get GPS fixed, no matter where they are in flight. Maybe Nokia's are just really good at highspeed/alt. fixing. (commercial jets)
From old "serial" GPS , to bluetooth mouse GPS, to internal (a)gps, it has always been a struggle at highspeed/alt.
Then again, stuff I fly rarely exceeds 200knots/20.000 feet so I'm all good up there
Safe skies !
PM sent.
I was sent this post in a PM, dont know why maybe to help explain, or offer my gps fix, honestly dont know. But after reading this, here are some reasons why you might be havng this issue:
Phones put the antenna (gps) in different places, holding it sometimes blocks the signal or weakens it (Yes the signal and antenna is that weak).
Speed plays a factor, inflight will take longer then before.
Time of day, sats remember are not in the same position all the time.
Warm lock opposed to a cold lock, Hard lock opposed to a soft lock.
And who makes the gps chip.
There are many factors when it comes to gps signals.
I have my S3 since Saturday. Sunday was actually the first day to test it. The only thing I did Saturday was to update it, OTA.
Of course, I took it for a drive several hundred miles. Everything looked good. It fixes the location very fast and accurate... many times better than my previous S2... however, at one point it did lost the location....... after a reboot it started working fine again and was able to complete my drive very happy about it.
Unfortunately, I have to say, the serious problems started Monday.
My S3 is loosing the satellites constantly. A reboot fixes the problem, but again, after about 10 minutes, it looses the satellites. No matter what I am running, waze, Google maps, GPS Test Pro etc., it is all the same: it sees a big number of satellites, but it doesn't lock on them... even if the signal strength is considerable good with some of them (that could turn them to green if in GPS Test Pro).
I don't see any reason why it would loose the lock of the satellites.
Getting tired rebooting my S3, I tried a couple of tools from the market: GPSfix and GPSaids... although I am not sure about the first one, even that it helped, the later one helps indeed. After running it and return to my navigation program the S3 starts locking the satellites again and fast and very price... for another 10 minutes.
Not sure what to do... guess my next step is to root my device and try FasterFix and other tools that requires root... or even try a custom rom and different rom/modem.
Any idees, suggestions?
The phone is purchased from Vodafone Romania.

how about trying to calibrate the compass first
http://jjpda.blogspot.sg/2011/10/how-to-calibrate-your-compass.html
Another thing I noticed:
for example, at home, with or without wifi enabled, I let the GPS on for more than an hour and haven't noticed it loosing the lock on the satellites.
I guess it happens only when my position changes (driving).
So, am I the only one with this strange behavior of the S3?
It might be as well, as you suggest, the firmware/modem branded version from Vodafone Romania.
I will certainly contact Samsung and ask them about it.

I am on Omega V6, and the GPS literally saved my friends and I over this weekend in the desert with almost no gas and no reception.
THANK YOU SGS3!
I had to rotate it a lot to get to 3 where the line pointing to North (I guess) was blue.
LE: Now I will give it a drive test to tell if it helps.

Doesn't really helps me... how about when you were on stock rom?
GPS' performance was one of the main reasons I switched from S2 to S3... being able to point me down in areas where's no GSM network and no roads.
I am using the navigation regularly for a 2 hours car trip. I haven't noticed any lost position, Crossing the country side with about 30mn without gsm connection.

I have a strange problem:
I'm on omega 6.0 and my GPS fixes 14-18sats in about 5-10 seconds. sometimes ti finds satellites and just don't fix them without data connection or Wifi. Tried both LF2 and LF5 modems. cleaning cache and dalvik cache helped. but I'm aware it will happen again
any ideas? I'm using GPS status and toolbox to monitor GPS
I have calibrated the magnetic sensor. From 1 went to 2 and then to 3. From 2 to 3 had to spin the phone A LOT.
Anyway, left the house with GPS on. The GPS stayed locked for about 2 hours.
Later on the day, the GPS started to lose the lock again.
I checked again with the magnetic sensor and it was down to 1 again. Brought it quickly to 2 again. GPS started working.
Minutes later, GPS lock lost again. Using GPS Test Pro (clear AGPS) or GPS aids or other similar application... or even doing the magnetic (re)calibration offers only a TEMPORARILY solution.
Beside trying a different/newer modem/rom, does anyone have a permanent solution to this stock UNrooted rom?
Thanks.
Anyone else from Vodafone Romania experience this issue as well?
I am coming to the conclusion that the magnetic sensor is broken (keeps decalibrating) and that affects seriously fixing the location.
If I use just the Sats can't get a lock.
Running GPS toolbox shows 24 sats but I can only ever get a lock on a single sat. My i9300 shows 16 sats locked on 12 in same app.
Left i9505 with app running overnight on window no lock.
It looks like either the signal strength is too low or it 'locks' on one sat then can't move onto next.
Tried resets and reflash no joy.
All I get is this.

Thanks for the idea but I've already tried GPS Test and it never finds a sat and as I've done multiple reflashes and resets I've probably done at least half a dozen reboots.
To be honest I find GPS Toolbox better then GPS test anyway as you get a lot more info on what sats are live.
Yes, but did you try updating AGPS data? If you can do it from GPS Toolbox, do it. As long as you try that too. Did you also flash the MH8 modem with the ROM?

Yes I've updated AGPS data, there's a facility to do it within GPS toolbox and you can see in the piccy above it's 0 (zero) hours since the last update i.e. It was updated within the last hour.
The MH8 flash was done by Sammie OTA, the Baseband is MH8.
Weird. Tried reflashing the modem with Odin?
Other than that I'd try a factory reset or a completely new flash of MH8. No other ideas, sadly.
As I said in the first post I've tried multiple reflashes, does anyone know of there's a service menu option such as hardware default reset?
The only thing I can think of is the modem (which I think the GPS interfaces through?) isn't getting reset properly and that'll fix it, else it's off for a hardware check.

Could you solve it?
Same problem
I'm using different modem but I have the same problem.
I'm using Gps Data to show satellites. At first it shows around 20 satellites after that the amount starts to drop to 9-11 satellites.
It can always get one fix for a moment to some satellite (usually 71, 72 what I have been following today) strength is 40-41 but it loses it in 5-10 seconds. At the same time it also always shows strength 30 to three other satellites.
After it has that one fix and 3 others with signal no fix it drops them all and looks for new ones and does the same thing after a while: one fix again to 7X number and 3 signals no fix.
Interestingly enough the one fix it gets seems to be russian satellite and the 3 others are american... still, I don't think that's the problem or could it be?
Before I had problems with gps and 3g too (only got 2g) so I sent the phone to repairs. Now 3g works and the gps signal strength got to that 30-40 to at least some satellites. Before warranty repair it was around 2-4 satellites and signal was only 3-10 and never fix.
They told me they had changed the motherboard of the phone other than that I don't know what was the problem since they spoke only Chinese. I'm in Shanghai btw... so 3g got fixed but gps still no lock.
After repair I have tried 3 different modems and unrooted stocks. Same problem with all modems and firmwares, same satellites, same strengths.
My friends Sgs 3 and Sgs 4 have no problems. I also didn't have any problem at the first.
Did you get your phone fixed somehow or was there HW repair ?
I got a new note 3 a month ago. Finally Tested out the gps when I went on vacation. The gps could not always lock. It was loose GPS signal every 10 min also. It would tell me to u turn and get off the highway routinely because it thought I was on the wrong street or going backwards. Really frustrating when going long distance. Since it's stock is there a fix. I've tried a few apps. GPS fix, gps status, etc. any options out their that might actually work.
When using the gps apps are you getting locks? How many satellites are you seeing?

I have the exact same symptoms. When setting up navigation of a trip it will take forever to lock on and after it does it is very slow to update position. Many of the updates to my position are in correct putting me just off the highway on a side street. Sometimes it will have me driving reverse to the direction of my arrow.
I actually uninstalled my weather app and the issue was corrected to a degree. It's not perfect but it does help.
