Hello, I have about 600 bucks to spend, and am thinking about this phone, before I buy I have a few questions.
-Have you had any problems with the phone?(battery, hardware, not turning on etc...) I want to know every problem you've ever had.
-Should I buy the unlocked international version which has no warranty or the US version with a 1 year warranty?
-Will the X10 US version work with T mobile for voice calling and text messaging? I dont plan on buying a 3g plan?
-For US customers only: If you've had a problem with it, did you have a manufacturer warranty(no other ones)? or was it without warranty as in you brought the international versions?
-What would be a good place to buy one? I'm thinking mobile city online, but would buy from another store if they carried the US version for a cheaper price.
-How are the games on this phone? I'm talking about the 3d games, would you say they're better than a 2nd gen itouch?
I guess you are too busy to actually read through the threads on the forum then? There are plenty of answers on here if you just bothered to look mate.
actually i have been looking, have found some issues with the battery, thats about it

there are several ways to slove the battery issue. in particular, the new firmware will solve it completely.
im not in US so im not able to answer most of your questions.
there is no perfect phone in the market. all is dependent on how you are going to use the phone and what functions and performences you are pursing.
in general, im happy with my X10.
I can't aneswer your US related questions either, but I can tell you that I'm more than happy with my X10i.
The battery was an issue right off the shelf, but after tweeking it a little, it'll last me close to 2 days. Which is more than enough for a smartphone.
Also, not sure how the deals work in the US when it comes to getting a 3g plan, but I can tell you this phone is meant to be used with a data connection. Of course Wifi could work just fine for you if you don't want to buy a data plan.
Either way you decide to use the phone, it'll surely work out quite nicely for you.
If you want to play games, go get an itouch.

ok any other problems other than the battery?
your help is greatly appreciated
oh and i already have itouch, i saw some youtube videos of xperia x10 games, but not clear enough.
so my question is on a scale of 1 to 10 with 7 being the itouch 2nd generation, what would you rate the xperia x10 in terms of game graphics?

Graphics wise? About 12. Much larger display, much higher resolution as well as a more powerful cpu and graphics chip.
You should post your question on Howard Forums, not XDA DEVELOPERS, you'll probably get more help especially regarding questions related to the US market.
Hello everyone. First off, be clear of one thing: FLASH will not work on our phones even when Froyo is out. Flash was an improvement in Froyo, but it is not going to be in all phones just because they have Froyo..
I see a lot of people complaining that the Froyo releases of the Galaxy 3 do not have Flash 10.1. I opened this topic to inform everyone who doesn't know that Flash is currently only supported on ARMv7 processors, namely the ARM Cortex A8 processors.
The Galaxy 3 has an ARMv6 processor, which is not currently supported by Flash. Adobe has mentioned that Flash might be supported on lower end processors in the near future, but right now it can only run on phones having an ARM Cortex A8 processor.
So right now, Flash is a no-go on our phone, even when the final Froyo update is released.
You can check the requirements for Flash on the following link:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/systemreqs/#mobile
Also, check out this link which mentions that ARM might be supported on ARM11 (ARMv6) devices in the future:
http://androidandme.com/2010/08/news/flash-player-10-1-could-appear-on-some-arm11-devices/
For those who wonder why the HTC phones have Flash, just found out that the Flash Player on HTC has been developed by HTC themselves. It is not the actual Adobe Flash Player 10.1..
So we can only hope that until final FROYO relese Adobe will mode Flash to work on our hardware

Not likely. Adobe has said they might make it work on these processors, but it surely isn't at the top of their agenda right now.
But on the other side, if We ask at loud and if we do it in weaves, they will change their mind and support our hardware

Where did you get this information from?
This is crucial, especially to the people in countries, where this phone has been released for sale recently, such as India. The biggest selling point of this phone, has been the technical ability to upgrade from Eclair to Froyo, as such, the importance of Flash cannot be underestimated. Whilst there are many owners who are not too bothered about this, the vast majority have assumed that purchase of the Apollo, would mean, for their internet phone usage, a very much improved experience, mirroring , albeit on a small scale, a view familiar to the desktop computer.
I hope you may be wrong. Samsung should clarify this, before many others spend too much money.

Where do you want to use flash ?
a) WEB:
Because you can use SKYFIRE which converts at their servers flash to html5 and you can watch converted flash video at your mobile
b) SD card applications:
I had on my XPERIA X1 (which has slower CPU) flash player and many many flash games. It was working without any lags.
c) what if you install flash player 10 like 3th party application ?
d) do you want to launch complicated Flash www pages at your mobile ? With this stupid resolution ? I think that:
- it has no sense (I hate to read anythink on this display)
- sooner or later the pages will be converted to html5 and we will be able to have them.
So please for what reason do you need flash ?

Live score updates would be one feature I use on a regular basis. Many sites require Flash to be viewed properly, and Skyfire is somewhat limited in being able to do so.
The resolution of the phone is a factor, but with many video presentations and live transmissions in the 320/240 mode, the Apollo is more than capable of being able to used for displaying web video. LaolaTV, TVU networks, and Justin TV are examples of this.
An otherwise very capable phone, I would just like to squeeze a bit more of it's potential.
The main requirement of flash is a VFPU(vector floating point unit).it is a physical device that should be present in the chip for flash to work.the older arm processors(arm1136) does not support it(thats why adobe said they wont support older processors). Our processor(arm1176) supports it but it is optional.so it all depends on whether samsung implemnted vfpu in this chip. Considering what they did with 3d graphics my hopes are pretty low.
Flash isnt essential but it would have been nice to have it.i didnt know about these things before i bought the phone.but considering the fact that no device. Anywhere near this price range supports it,i am happy with the phone.

I agree, also SPB TV works or Orange streaming TV (for orange customers), without any problem. I think that it's pricing policy - producers don't want to squeeze the maximum from the cheap phones.

As Adobe releases Flash for free, it doesn't really matter to them if it's used in cheap or costly phones. The ARMv6 processor is not necessarily used only in cheap phones. Rendering Flash content is a processor intensive job, so it is not an easy job to port it to lower end processors.

HTC has been giving Flash support for their Eclair phones, but it doesn't work that great. If you check the Wildfire review on GSMArena, Flash has trouble playing videos on all sites, and only simple games run nicely.
Flash can run on ARMv6 processors, but it hasn't been developed properly for it yet. And no one except HTC gives support for Flash in their Eclair running phones, so it's not only Samsung's fault. Plus, even Samsung gave Flash on the high-end Galaxy S AFTER it was upgraded to Froyo.
Let's see, it's bound to come out for ARMv6 processors sometime, as budget Android phones are only gonna increase in popularity.
U are right

what about LG OO or other 200€ devices ?
Is there any other app that makes flash possible on our phones?
skyfire
flash doesnt work on p500 either....
Hey
It is possible, to install a Flash Lite on 2.2? Because we don't have any flash, and can't watch videos through skyfire. But no - I won't come back to 2.1
Hi folks,
I've been lurking on these forums for a while, but I'm starting to develop a serious case of information overload, and there are some puzzling and contradicting reports about the Galaxy Tab.
First of all, allow me to tell you that I'm looking for a 7" device with a set of very specific characteristics, which should:
- play video files (such as .avi, .mkv, .mp4 and .mpg) up to and including 720p with hardware acceleration (no hiccups). I have many scene files encoded at 720p, and NO intention to re-encode them into anything else, for reasons of time and convenience.
- play most audio files (ideally, this should give me total control and an explorer-like interface, not tag-based, since not all my music is properly tagged, and it's hard to find out what you're looking for if the tags say just "unknown artist" and "track 1")
- display most (if not all) known e-book formats, including full-colour .pdf
- have a full web browsing experience - please note that I'm not interested in data plans, 3G, HSPA and the like - a simple WiFi capability is enough for me.
Until very recently, I was going to buy a Nook Color and root the heck out of it (thanks to this place!), but in the past weeks I've been more and more interested in the Galaxy Tab.
Now, I had the chance to play with the Tab at a store (I'm talking about an "original" version, as available here, in Canada, not the recent WiFi-only U.S. model). I even had a microSD card with me, and I tried to play several music files, as well as a few samples representing the type of SD and HD (720p) videos I mostly deal with. I was blown away by the fact that the Galaxy Tab was able to play most of these - .mkv, .mp4, .avi without problems (although the audio on the .mp4 file didn't seem to run with the stock player.
All in all, though, the Tab seems a much more capable device than the Nook, and I enjoyed immensely the way it felt. I'm ambivalent about the cameras (Skype would be good, but does not seem to work on it at the moment), but I was truly impressed by the Gorilla Glass quality of its IPS screen, the quality of the GPS, the availability of Bluetooth, and the overall experience of handling it - and that with a stock ROM! I can only imagine what a tweaked OS could do.
I've seen recent reports that the WiFi-only Tab is not, as it was originally rumored, identical to the original version minus the SIM card reader. Various forum discussions suggest the WiFi-only Tab has different components as well, and that many of the original hacks won't work on this one.
As such, I'm confused - and my confusion is only complicated by the difference in the prices and availability of the devices. Here in Canada, I can get the "original" Tab for $399, while in the States it's still sold for $429; meanwhile, the WiFi-only is cheaper (at $349), albeit U.S. exclusive.
I will be visiting the States in the week after Easter; before discovering the Tab, I was going to buy the Nook Color at that time.
But right now, it seems to me that I have three distinct possibilities:
1) Get the Tab from the Canadian market, at a higher price, but with the guarantee that most of the goodies posted on XDA will work on it.
2) Get the cheaper, WiFi-only version from the U.S., without the certainty that it will be as capable as the original.
3) Wait for something else (like the upcoming Acer A100), or a breakthrough in the development of the considerably cheaper-but-still-formidable Nook Color.
What would you good folks do, if you were in my place? Is the WiFi-only just as reliable and hackable as the original iteration, or is it worth spending an extra $50 (plus taxes) for peace of mind?... Or would you go for something else instead?
Please feel free to post your thoughts, suggestions, ideas - and hopefully, not too many dirty jokes, while you're at it! Thanks!
Get the GSM tab not the wifi, especially if you are looking to play with custom roms, hacks etc.
And you can make phone calls with the gsm version if you are on the right carrier.

Pretty much what he said. Original tab still hands down the best. Unbranded carrier free tab is tge top tab. Corps first introduce a great device to hook up people then they tend to do do "hardware revisions" with inferior components and cheaper price. We've seen it many times. GSM tabs gave been hacked and modded and should work for you.
I have to agree with the posters above me... Given your situation it seems wise to be safe and get a GSM tab. They are INCREDIBLY resilient to bricking, and have been around long enough that 90% of the processes for hacking it are pretty fail proof (given the right knowledge, you can go from stock to overcome with 1 computer flash... the rest are done from the device...)
*edit* now that I think about it, you may be able to do it with no computer flahses.
Granted, given time there will be plenty of hacks and developments for the WiFi tab, but if you want something say... within the next couple weeks... The Galaxy Tab is the way to go, GSM.
Nook color < Pretty much everything else. (Opinion!)
I would pay the little bit extra and get the gsm version. I think you'd be getting less value with the wifi-only version since it doesn't have gps (i think) and it doesn't have phone capability. That's why I bought the att version and flashed it with euro firmware. And while the nook makes a good value tablet, you get what you pay for: no cameras, no ambient light sensor, no gps, no physical soft keys, less internal memory, no phone, and less capable video playback.

Hey guys,
I was looking around the system files of my core prime variant sm-s820l VZW USA, and found /system/know your device. Was some videos in there, assuming the ones that help a new user use the phone and understand it, and in the beginning of those it states welcome to using your new Samsung Galaxy S5. Every video that's in that file starts out this way. Everything else about the videos shows exactly the same as the phone I'm currently using. And have for a CPL years now. I really like this phone and I'll be damned if I'm gonna spend a whole lot on a new phone when I don't need to. I know there's gotta be some other ppl out there still using this, now, very cheep still effective entry level smart phone. I've been tweaking and messing around with all sorts of things, mostly through trial and error, trying to get the best out of this device I can. I still have lots to do. Anyways, my question is....does this mean that this device is in all actually a Galaxy S5? Like, did TracFone simply take the S5 and modified the build.prop and added some other mods to make it there own, strap the name "core prime" on it and call it a day? If this is true, I was thinking that there is a whole other world out there in terms of customization/room/kernels now available to users of the TracFone core prime!! With such limited support, it would explain a LOT!!! If needed I can attach a copy if the vids. Would really appreciate it if anyone can shine some light on this!!

I am in Melbourne Australia, 60 years old, and are far too scared to try and give my Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 LTE a new lease of life with the latest possible OS. So much so the family went out and got me an iPad Pro 12.9 and I won't touch it so they are getting upset with me standing by my 5yo Note Pro...it has always been the best thing since sliced bread and I can't part with it, I take it everywhere with me.
Lately I have been experiencing issues with it which I assume is due to the OS. Screen icons that are linked to web sites sometimes take forever to open the web site in Chrome and just little things like that. I have done a complete new reinstall of the tablet and still the same so I can only put these things down to the OS.
Can anyone advise if there is anyone I can take it to here in Melbourne Australia who will install the latest possible Android OS for me (for a price)...I would be forever grateful
Regards

Hi, i can suggest you to install "[ROM][P905][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 16.0 | Android 9.0 Pie 20190912" available at https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...t/rom-lineageos-16-0-android-9-0-pie-t3901023 . This rom is based on the latest os available (android 9.0) and it has just give my note the best performance (and security). I work as an engineer and i was able again to use the tablet for reading/answering my email, browsing and using some servers and in my spare time to watch some videos (youtube, netflix, plex, twitch.. everything works). If you want to browse the web, one application I can suggest is "Brave browser", available from the Play Store.
For how to install you can do it by yourself, just you can find a lot of videos on youtube and you will just need some confidence and a computer: don't worry f you do a mistake, you can always give it to a "tech guy" or a tech repair store and they will fix it for you.

Do you have an idea which one is the best OS for the P900?
Because I have LineageOS 14 installed on mine, but it seems the latest LineageOS is only for the P905
