Hello good people of the Earth. I have been looking through threads for a few days trying to figure out the best (easiest) way to obtain MM modem. I bought this used Moto X Pure a few weeks ago and it came upgraded to Nougat Stock. I want to flash OCTos which needs MM modem to boot. Is there a flashable means to accomplish this feat? Thank you so much for any assistance.

So, I'm coming from a "dead" Sammy Galaxy S3. I want to know of you, Moto users, how are these things on Moto X Play. I mean..
In my dead S3, I rooted using Odin and, when stock updates still existed, I was unable to update on phone and had to use Odin to flash the whole rom. After this, the root access disappear and I had to root it again using Odin.
How this things works on Motorola devices? I have already learned how to root the X Play but, after rooting, how do I update my stock firmware when any update become available? Do I have to update in the phone in the stock method (like a dream :fingers-crossed or Motorola devices got a flashing tool such as Odin?
Thanks since now

Just download the file, unzip, and then manually flash using fastboot. There is a Moto tool you could use as well I believe, but I prefer fastboot. Gives you a better sense overall of what's happening, and you know what you are doing.

"just download the file" You mean, the firmware file, right? Is there a "samfirmware" from Motorola?
So, considering that this is the method used to flash a stock firmware over a rooted-stock firmware, what happens to the root access?
Root will go away unless you find a pre-rooted system image. Pretty much what would happen with a stock firmware file for any phone
My main question is: How is the process to back to a stock rom after rooting and installing TWRP or something like that?
More than likely you would download a stock image file from Motorola and install it using the "fastboot" command on your computer
Moto X Play INDIAN firmware
Can someone please upload the INDIAN firmware for moto x play dual sim?
Well, it's been some days that I created this thread. Now I know it's neccessary to remove root and reflash stock firmware on MXP to update for 6.0 update, for example (the same process as other Moto devices) . I never did this, but i'm not afraid because we got XDA and we have a lot of tutorials explaining how to do these things. The "scary" part is that a I see a lot of people asking for full firmwares and etc. I mean, I know the firmware from my region is different than the others (and this can easily mess firmware's modem or something like that - messing the imei also).
If we only had a "deposit" of firmwares like samfirware for sammy devices...
I've been looking in some forums about this questions and I found this: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/91999/p/1449,8620
it gave me to understand that, If I unlock the bootloader of my phone and root it, but not installing custom recovery (for example), I'll still be able to receive and install successfully OTA updates?
- Edit: I forgot that TWRP is need to install superSU.

I've posted a fastboot guide and a link to a stock firmware thread In the second post of this thread. If you can't find the image you're looking for just ask in that firmware thread, it's been getting updated regularly.
Hi people!! Sorry for this question, but I am new at this android community, so I have the moto x play and I with like to know if it is possible to put kitkat on moto x play because lollipop is so bad for this device. Thanks for your time and have a great day.

Dude
Just download the latest Lollipop from Samsung and you will be always safe.
To install a Custom Lollipop you should first flash the respective Bootloader and Modem that are contained into Samsung's release.
What I've told you will ALWAYS work. Flash a Sammobile firmware corresponding to the Custom ROM version you are intending regardless if it's LL or MM.

now i am on this rom lolipop 511 ...my phone came directly with this version of android 511
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/5-0-1-dn-rom-e-team-t3031712
and want to try this mm custom rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/rom-erobot-rom-note4-1-0-xxu2dpcb-t3357271
but maybe get some issue and want to return to my old rom ditto rom so when i want to try any custom rom even mm or lolipop i need to flash stock one by odin then flash custom rom even from mm to lolipop or just flash bootloader and modem ...
thx in advance
Hi ammarsg
To play safe and assure everything will work fine you should always match the ROM firmware code with your Bootloader+Modem Code
For example:
If you flash a Lolipop 5.1.1 XXU1AOH2 would be great if your BL+Modem could have the same code. This is not always possible so you have to find the closest one regarding your model/region.
The same will happen to a Marshmallow 6.0.1 XXU2DPE5. You should find a Marshmallow as closest as of the ROM for your BL+Modem.
It wont work if you mix Lollipop x Marshmallow.
The only overhead you will have while flashing an entire Sammobile firmware is that it will overwrite your Custom Recovery so you will have to flash it too again using Odin before the ROM.
If you are able to find ONLY the Bootloader+Modem needed for your model/region it will be easier but it's not usually available.
Hope you have understood now.
Nice regards.

First of all sorry for my english.
I hope someone can help with this
The thing is that the screen burn issue showed up, so i've seen a guide to remove it (kernel auditor and that..) So i was going for root my device (Nougat)
and i've unlocked my bootloader and installed twrp but the thing is that i didnt installed Elemental Kernel, and ****ed it up installing superSU..
So i decided to install another rom, coming from npj25.93-14 , i've installed Extended AOSP 7.1.2. And everything it's ok but the volume isn't working properly, so i want to install my previous rom npj25.93-14 (Nougat) from the stock xt1622 how can i do it?
Cant find any rom of npj25.93-14 xt1622 , even if i found one, i dont really know the steps to do it properly ( i mean: flashing with twrp, or fastboot.. )
Can someone please make a little "guide"?, i fell so lost right now

If you didn't make a backup then you need to grab the stock MM firmware for your XT1622, flash it via fastboot, and take the OTA.
Maybe if you used a cool little tool called "le Google" along with the forums here on XDA, you wouldn't have these issues. There are so many goddamn guides that it's almost ridiculous.

If you're rooted, then yea, OTAs won't work. If you're not OTAs should work fine- just restore stock MM, take the OTA to N and then root.
Also, you could give RevivorOS a shot- it's based off the latest 14-4 N build and works fine on all G4/G4+ models.

True that! But there are probably 10x as many people (not always noobs), who have made the same or similar mistakes. We all tend to get in a hurry at times and have regrets. Patience is an honorable virtue, both for the student and the teacher. Just sayin'.
Hi,
I have seen so many posts regarding going back to stock ROM, but I didn't find anyone definitive. Also, browsed through many youtube videos and nobody is mentioning a neat fastboot script or something to flash back to the stock ROM.
Now, I have 2 questions:
1 - I am on Stock Debloated ROM now. Is there an article/link from where I can download the stock Firmware (my model is XT 1686 Indian version)
2 - After flashing back to the stock firmware, would the bootlocker be locked back so that I would start getting the normal OTAs?
I'd like to know this as well. (XT1687)

The bootloader being locked or unlocked has nothing to do with receiving OTA's.
Where to find the firmware? Good luck, there are some posted here and there, but start here. Lenovo is not to keen on handing them out, but they get out once in a while, there is no "official" source for them.
Would the bootloader be locked after flashing? That all depends HOW you flash it... Locking requires performing a command (twice) before the flash and once after.
As far as exactly how to flash, meaning the specific commands, they are inside the official firmware ZIP file in a file called flashfile.xml

While not for the G5+, this thread for the G4 might be helpful:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/guide-sucsessfull-ota-update-rooting-t3472658/
It worked well reverting a G4 with a TWRP recovery.
This site has many ROM images for the G series, including G5+ "Potter":
http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=created&order=DESC&show=100
Quite an assortment.
Is the firmware version VS9951AA still down gradable to a rootable version? If so, does dirty santa work good on the VS995? The dirty santa guide mentions to use the us996 twrp file, but on the twrp thread, there is one for the VS995. Which one should I use? One more question: Outside of the second screen, would I lose anything else major if I went with a custom rom?
i95swervin said:
1AA can be downgraded. You should follow the dirty santa thread exactly as stated.. Use the twrp suggested and just upgrade twrp after your done with the unlock / root method.
If you use a stock custom rom you will still have the features of stock. Such as 2nd screen.
Goodluck

Thanks for the reply mate, will help me out. Have a good evening (or whatever it is there) :3.
I just received my new to me VS995. It came with firmware VS9951CA. Is this firmware down-gradable to a rootable version? If so could someone point me in the right direction to find the correct KDZ file for a Verizon USA phone? The only KDZ's I can find are for other countries and are on the LG website. I have found and read through the LGUP instructions.
Found the Verizon KDZ files.
P.S. I bought this V20 because I thought I bricked my Note 4 and I want a phone with a replaceable battery. After ordering this V20 I was finally able to find a ROM that my Note 4 would boot under... Lineage. Having run my Note 4 under Lineage for a week I kind of like it better than the bloated V20 stock ROM. Unfortunately since they take different sized CIM's I can't just switch back and forth between the phones to see if I can handle bloatware after a week of slim and slick! ...I think my Note 4 is about an ounce lighter after flashing Lineage.
