Fine on T-Mobile.
I only used mine on T-Mobile for a short period of time. Not sure about signal strength because I had nothing to compare.

Check this forum to get more info. My brother is with T-Mobile and he told me he got very good signal/reception most of the time on LTE plus.
But location plays a big part of the signal and reception.

T-Mobile on the Essential phone is terrible in the N.Y.C. area. Same sim card in my Nexus 6P or G5 and I get much better results. It's definitely the phone .

Why is my internet running so slow?

I just bought a data plan a couple of days ago and when i try and use the internet it is terribly slow, it took four minutes to load a Google search which is pathetic, On my old iphone i got about 60-90 kbps and i thought my nexus could easily beat that. btw I am on at&t edge using the stock radio, should i call at&t and ask if they can fix anything or do you guys know anything that could help? Thanks
Wait so are you using ATT or T-Mobile? If you have ATT did you buy the ATT version of the Nexus or the Tmobile one?
I am using at&t but have the t-mobile version...wouldn't that only effect 3g?

Yes, you are correct.
You answered your own question. You've got yourself a crippled Tmobile N1 if you're running it on ATT, especially if you want 3g internet.

I do not have 3g where i live yet so that doesn't bother me. Since the phone is made for t-mobile will it also effect the edge service?
You should be pulling better edge speeds if you're in a good reception area. I would install a different radio.
if it's syncing over edge at the same time you're trying to surf, you throughput will suffer greatly... especially on edge.

yeah i have perfect reception. I have never flashed a radio so i am not sure on some of this stuff, I am running the desire rom, can i download cyanogen or emothers radio and flash it or are those only build for their rom?

4G or LTE.. LG G2

Hi Folks,
Unfortunately I'm only experiencing 3G connections and it sucks cause I payed 4G or LTE plan. How do you know if you're LG G2 is 4G or LTE Data speed? I got this phone from Korea. Do I have to do some of the configurations needed before having a 4G or LTE connections? Btw, I'm with Fido.
Thanks for the help :good:

The 4G is activated if you use the carrier's branded phone. Trying to unlock across carriers limits you to 3G as far as I know.

[Q] H+ What does it mean

Hi there am new to the Samsung Galaxy s5. I recently bought my phone thru Verizon but decided to go to T-Mobile. I had my phone unlocked and such but ever since doing so I have a "H+" where the 4GLTE usually is. Can anyone explain what this is. Did they miss up something when unlocking the phone. Any help is appreciated Thanks.

Yes the phone runs real slow at times. Am not sure if the guy even unlocked it probably. All he did was change the apn. Is that right. Again am new to this.

I'm afraid that in most areas tmobile is substandard compared to Verizon.. and isn't one carrier cdma and the other GSM? where are you geographically? is tmobile the superior carrier in your region... its doubtful..
Chandler Arizona not sure who is more dominanting. How would I find out. We switched because we use a lot of data. Other then that we would've stayed with Verizon.

Correct.
But H+ (HSPA+) is faster than H (HSDPA) ,G (GPRS) and E (EDGE)
H+ could also indicate dual channel hsdpa which from memory has a limit of 42mb... In the UK many people on dc-hsdpa report speeds of around 20mb which is comparable to many LTE speeds here.
You may not be that different there.
Unless you are downloading large files through your phone, there is very little advantage on a fast data connection, a HD video will stream quite easily on 4 to 5mb

sprint lg v20 unlock successfully but connect and disconnect from network constantly

Is anyone having this issue? I recently got a lg v20 sprint unlocked and the cellular signal drops constantly, it says "NO SERVICE every 3 seconds" then connects back to my mobile carrier.
anyone knows how to fix this? I know for sure it can't be a hardware problem because the phone is relatively new.

That's a side effect of using a sprint phone on a different network. It all determines the carrier and area. Never buy a sprint phone with full intentions of it fully working on a different network. For me AT&T would do it. T-Mobile wouldn't.

okay thanks for the response. hmmm not what should I do with the phone?
What is the SIM card that you have inserted in your phone? If it's gsm one, it will not work.
Sprint is a CDMA network and even if you unlock a device from them, you will have issues using it on other networks.

Dude, this is so incorrect I've been using a domestic Verizon note 5 for the past 6 months on the gsm network by only changing the apn for data. Pretty much every flagship carries all the bands to reduce manufacturing costs it's just a matter of accessing them through the software.

Sprint locks it down software wise. Verizon does Not. So Verizon variant most wouldn’t have an issue. Even though with older phones like the S5 and G4 (only ones I’ve tested Verizon wise) service was unreliable in fringe areas as they would all the time go in and out of service, but only in fringe areas.
It depends. A lot of sprint models miss bands that Several GSM carriers use weather it be WCDMA or LTE
But generally 99% of people trying to use a Sprint device on a GSM network are gonna have an issue. While Verizon it’s probably less than have that will have an issue if even that.

I have a Sprint unlocked V20 and this phone was DSU (Domestic SIM Unlock) by Sprint to work on domestic GSM carriers and I tried using this with an AT&T card and it worked fine. Have you gone into Network settings and set the prper APN settings for your phone? Also are the bands supported in your area?

Umm...just flash the US996 Unlocked version of the Weta Rom....if you can or course (Bootloader unlocked) I have a Sprint V20, works perfect on T-mobile, and pretty much any SIM. It's not terribly hard to do, just dig through these forums for help.

I'm guessing your refering to the sprint model? It's unreliable unless your using it on sprint. It's not worth it honestly unless you got the phone for free.

Yes, it's a Sprint phone. I had it unlocked and the signal comes on weak...then goes away. I've tried everything to get it to be stable but at a loss. I did pay for the phone so it's quite irritating.

I value your opinion on other things but your information here is incorrect. I have successfully used a Sprint LG V20 unlocked by Sprint here locally on GSM networks as well as outside the US. It could be an issue with APN settings or selecting a proper network.
The Sprint V20 has enough band support for domestic GSM bands and I have first hand experience with it. It could be that the particular V20 could be faulty?

It’s not the band support that is the issue. And it’s not just the V20. In fringe/lower coverage areas it’s a pain to maintain a stable connection. I’ve seen this with both the G5 and V20. It makes it unusable. It also occurs on older Verizon devices as well like the S5 and G4 as an example.
It’s mostly a software issue that causes it. APN is data related and wouldn’t cause signal issues.
When I had a sprint G5 for my 2nd line, I go into city limits where coverage was good would almost work perfectly. Go home in a fringe area might as well pop the sim In a flip phone lol.

That is true with Sprint coverage anywhere lol. (my local Walmart sells Boost mobile phones, even though we have ZERO sprint coverage) But in a fringe area on AT&T as an example the signal will drop in an out constantly. While any other phone will hold onto the signal perfectly fine and never drop and work perfect one 1-2 bars of signal.
I guess by fringe I mean a lower signal area not exactly fringe to the point of no service.
And there’s plenty of posts of Sprint G5 unlocked users that have the same problem.

Unlocked S8 switch to Verizon - Wireless signal

I have an SM-G950U1 that I switched from AT&T to Verizon today. My wireless signal strength appears to be MUCH worse at my house on Verizon than I was seeing on AT&T. In addition, I'm seeing much better signal strength on my wife's iPhone 8. Finally, I'm seeing much higher battery drain... likely due to the signal strength. My question is whether there is something that I might want to do in terms of settings/changes that might help me here?
Thanks,
Craig

I spent some time with support today. It turns out that LTE/CDMA actually seems to work better in general. However, I still have terrible signal in the house. Are there any cheaper options than the $250 signal booster that actually work?
In addition, they suggested that a factory reset might help. I'm pretty skeptical that that would make any difference with the same firmware. Can anyone comment? I'm willing to do it (when I'm back from my upcoming trip), but only if it is worth the effort. Another option would be to switch to the Verizon version of the firmware, but I'd rather avoid the bloatware if it isn't going to help out.
Thanks again,
Craig
