4G or LTE.. LG G2 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Folks,
Unfortunately I'm only experiencing 3G connections and it sucks cause I payed 4G or LTE plan. How do you know if you're LG G2 is 4G or LTE Data speed? I got this phone from Korea. Do I have to do some of the configurations needed before having a 4G or LTE connections? Btw, I'm with Fido.
Thanks for the help :good:

The 4G is activated if you use the carrier's branded phone. Trying to unlock across carriers limits you to 3G as far as I know.

EDGE is 4G on AT&T. just kidding
I would check what you have it set to under phone options, dail *#*#4636#*#*, and check what band you have selected, as well as correct APN settings.
ATT's 4G bands are not the same at T-Mobile's 4G bands. Wont work no way no how.
@ chris it says gsm/wcdma auto(prl)
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
AT&T is using 1900 MHz (850 MHz in some markets) for 3G. T-Mobile will use 1700 MHz for download and 2100 MHz for upload or pretend I didn't say anything and keep trying something that isn't doable. that's your call
like jay says it doesn't have the correct network band antennas,
just sell it, new smartphones are coming out weekly.
and 4G is gimmicky, best of luck,
Thank you so much guys for trying to help. Do you guys think if root my phone and install custom rom. Is there any chance of getting 4g speed then?

it's a hardware limitation
check the APNs. I got an Atrix and my downloads on HSPA+ were between 2 and 3. Then I changed the APNs, they had 4 options. THen I got 5-7 downloads. Thats the closest to 4G you'll get on ATT

Are you sure it's not just the amount of traffic in your area?
Here in NYC, i've hit anywhere from 1.5Mbps down all the way up to 6+Mbps down
wow thanks for the info.are you on tmobile also ?
if yes do you mind sharing your apn settings.
i get good 4g speed with mytouch 4g which is tmobile branded device.
Thanks again for your inputs to help me out.

I hate to burst your bubble but there is no way you are going to get the AT&T device to work on T-Mobile's 3G, nevermind "4G"/HSPA. Sorry.
right... It has to do with the phone and the hardware... aka - the stuff they build the phone with. Its like if you try to use a phone to receive xm radio frequencies... it's not going to work... If you have a phone with the ATT bands they will NEVER work the same on Tmobile. But you can get Edge on any GSM network. Hope this helps. Search for att cellular bands on Google and compare them with Tmobile cellular bands.
Sorry to say it but the guys are correct! ALL of the AT&T 4G phone are quad band GSM phones! They work on the 850/1900 frequencies for all data and communication purposes in the USA! T-Mobile uses 1700! So basically you should have done a little more homework before you ran out and spent all that money!
If you are lucky you can still sell it and maybe get your money back!

[Q] Steps to making N9005 work with Tmobile 4G?

Currently on 3G with N9005 on the T-mobile network, hoping to make it run on the 4G. I've been looking through the forums for an answer but only found that it might be possible. Does anyone know how to make the N9005 phone work with Tmobile 4G? step by step would be appreciated.
Thank you!

ooohs, I dont think it is like that here, as my brother has the same plan as I have but runs on 4G while I run on 3G cause the N9005 is not setup to run on 4G here, but i heard there was ways but just not sure how to do it.
Is 4G the same as H+? If so, you just need to be in an area that has 4G. I have an n9005 in the US, and I am on H+ now. However, in some locations I only get 3G or even E.

oohs I see the thing is its on LTE already, so Im not so sure if I need the correct Rom or something in order for the radio to read the 4G as the Rom I have is another country.

You mean you already have the LTE/WCDMA/GSM radio selected? If thats the case then you dont really need to do anything else. If you have a 4g sim and 4g coverage then you will connect to 4g automatically.

The issue is LTE Band.
N9005 is missing LTE BAND 1700/2100 . Thus, it won't connect. It is missing in the software, not hardware.
You have to flash the N900T rom and/or modem on your phone to get North American LTE + HSPA+ (4G) bands to work properly!
but make sure flashing N900T rom won't trig Knox though.

[Q] H+ What does it mean

Hi there am new to the Samsung Galaxy s5. I recently bought my phone thru Verizon but decided to go to T-Mobile. I had my phone unlocked and such but ever since doing so I have a "H+" where the 4GLTE usually is. Can anyone explain what this is. Did they miss up something when unlocking the phone. Any help is appreciated Thanks.

Yes the phone runs real slow at times. Am not sure if the guy even unlocked it probably. All he did was change the apn. Is that right. Again am new to this.

I'm afraid that in most areas tmobile is substandard compared to Verizon.. and isn't one carrier cdma and the other GSM? where are you geographically? is tmobile the superior carrier in your region... its doubtful..
Chandler Arizona not sure who is more dominanting. How would I find out. We switched because we use a lot of data. Other then that we would've stayed with Verizon.

Correct.
But H+ (HSPA+) is faster than H (HSDPA) ,G (GPRS) and E (EDGE)
H+ could also indicate dual channel hsdpa which from memory has a limit of 42mb... In the UK many people on dc-hsdpa report speeds of around 20mb which is comparable to many LTE speeds here.
You may not be that different there.
Unless you are downloading large files through your phone, there is very little advantage on a fast data connection, a HD video will stream quite easily on 4 to 5mb

G531F - 4G sign?

Probably a dumb question...but I'm really confused about this.
I've never seen on my G531F the 4G sign even if it is available in my location. Maximum what I get is H+.
I saw E, 3G, H, H+ signs but never the 4G.
The LTE option is checked in network settings.
Can somebody tell me what's the problem?

Gettint H+ instead of LTE

Hey guys I have a question, I'm upgrading from a Nexus 6p. On my current provider I have be reviewing LTE on my Nexus I just got my one plus 5 and now I only get h+. Is there some system devices in the devices that allows the Nexus to interpret the h+ as LTE ? Kinda hate seeing the h+ in the corner there.

You're not getting LTE... 4G should be displayed for LTE.
Have you updated to 4.5.5 already? 4.5.4 was a fix for vodafone NL users with this exact problem.
Please share country and provider.

Mine shown "LTE" for LTE, not 4G. I get the H+ when on HSPA+ (TMobile here, FTR).
I don't think I've ever seen "4G". Maybe it's because TMo has multiple technologies it markets as 4G, so it's ambiguous.
Koodo in Canada also displays 4G+ for LTE. But if on a Telus SIM (same network as Koodo) it shows up as LTE. Speeds are the same. Looks like the OnePlus database for carriers is not really up to date.

Sorry, I meant for my country. I live in Oz, here we have 4G.
If LTE/4G was working properly for the OP then either LTE or 4G should be displayed, NOT H+ which is HSDPA (3G) here in Australia.

Yes I remember I had an HTC One device and when I used it with my carrier I would always get the H+ but when I flashed a rom and selected Tmobile as my carrier the 4G icon showed up for me. I wish I knew where to go to alter these settings to have the H+ show up as LTE or 4G for me like tmobile does or like my Nexus device did. (Even if its fake lol)

Yeah I just noticed that after all this searching around, WTF kind of dumb move is that to alienate all those version users like that. Smh the reason why I didn't even take the time out to see if my band was included before purchasing was because of the news the released about how much more LATE bands they were including with this model.
