hi!
I recently bought a xperia and noticed that the screen is flickering when you turn off the automatic adjustment and turn the screen to maximum. Is this normal or should i return it? its very innoying. It's the light in the bottom of the screen that flickers.
I would return it. Mine does not do this, so I wouldnt consider this "normal"
seems that you have a defective retroillumination led... return it
yeah, definately not normal - mine doesn't have this issue
I also recently received my X1. I also note that the light of my screen flickers but only with certain software. It vibrates on the left when loading windows, and on the black bar in touchflo3d between the start menu and the clock ... I can't see if it is a hardware problem and therefore if I should get the guarantee
Hi!
I dropped my defy in 2 cm of water, everything was fine for 20 min, suddently my screen stop responding, i removed the battery, place it back turn on the sceen got quite dark. Yet I was still able to see things on screen. Then it slowly got darker and darker until it was completely black. After that I tried to push the power button but the screen didn't light up, only the 4 buttons were lit.
I noticed I was still able to unlock the screen or answer phonecalls sliding my finger from left to right on the correct area of the screen, although it remainded black all the time.
What can i do? do i have to replace the lcd?
Thanks
I dropped my hd2 Saturday on the left bottom corner , since then the the screen stayed black But the phone turns on and screen responds & also charges I just can't see what I'm doing since the screen won't turn on , and the button lights still light up when on but not the screen
so if anyone knows what's wrong please help?
Last night, I went to use my night clock app with my new LG v20. On my Note 7, the screen was totally 100% black except for the numbers.
On the v20, the entire screen was stil lit - faint, but clearly still lit up in a light light grey.
Is this just how an LCD screen works, or is there something I have to do in order to get the rest of the screen to go off.
(Note, this includes the 2nd screen which was also lit - and I had the brightness at 0%).

BTW, this may need to be a separate thread - on my phone I notice that the auto-brightness tends to be too dark. Any way I can adjust it to be brighter when in auto mode, or should I just go to manual ?

Try turning off second screen and see what your results are.. Second screen has a seperate black light that slightly bleeds out to the rest of the screen. It was horrible on the V10 but much improved on the 20..

The night clock app has the option to turn off the notification, which also turns off the 2nd screen.
...oops. It did, until I followed your suggestion in the other thread about the more setting to enable time/date when in full screen or notification bar hidden. I'll have to get into the habit of turning *off* the more setting at night.
(Either way, doesn't help with the slight gray background color. I can probably just get used to it as long as I'm not damaging the screen by having it slightly on all night. I need to google if LCD screens have burn in problems I guess.)

Maybe I should just start pm'ing you all my questions

I use this on all my phones since I feel stock auto is too dim. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.velis.auto.brightness

Use comfort view on low or medium. Will help lower the ~9000K color temp some and help blacks a hair. Faint glow is typical on LCDs. Higher quality LCDs and higher quality led's can help. Lg skimped here. Sucks they didn't even give us color modes to pick from. The colors are waaay off. But using comfort view dims the blue pixels and helps considerably.

That's just how LCD works, they need CCFL or LED back light to lit up the screen, it's not possible for it to be completely black while turned on. With AMOLED the individual pixels can turn off itself which is why the black are blacker on them. OLED screens also have very high refresh rates which eliminates flickering, this is good for people who are concerned with eyes health.
Lcd doesn't get burn in, but it can get ghost image retention. It was f***ing horrible by the end of my V10 usage.. Never had the problem on the G2 3 or 4. Just the V10, even after factory resetting.

Had the same issue my V10, that is my biggest V20 concern. . My v10 was not even a year old.
I get the engineering and cost reasoning, but not sure I like the lcd screens.
I have an N9005 that I bought second hand just under a year ago. It's running the Phronesis 4 ROM. About a week ago a one pixel wide bright pink line appeared intermittently down the right-hand side. It looks like this (only bright freaking pink): http://forums.androidcentral.com/at...-bright-line-being-shown-display-p1070045.jpg
Today I was playing Fallout Shelter (always makes my phone pretty warm and eats battery). 15% battery warning comes up so I take it to charge. I notice the screen doesn't turn on. There is a momentary flash of dim colour at the top, but otherwise the screen is completely black. I tried pushing the power button several times, but all it did was a momentary flash of dim colour at the top but still black each time.
I took the battery out for a bit, then put it on to charge. The on screen charging display did not appear (stayed black) but after a bit the LED lit up to indicate charging as it would after the screen display turns off. I left it for a while and eventually the screen started working again (99% charge when I checked). I was then able to boot like normal.
However a while later the screen would not turn on again (just the momentary dim flash of colour at the top before black). I didn't do anything with it in this time. It just sat in standby before I tried using it again. The back button and hamburger menu buttons are not seemingly lighting up either. But the led works fine with notifications. I tested calling my phone and it rings fine - if I slide accept the call where it is normally on the screen, I can accept calls and talk like normal. But the screen remains black. So clearly the digitizer works fine.
I have tried taking out the battery for a long period of time, taking the battery out and discharging the remaining power by holding the power button (5 minutes), I have tried taking the phone apart and cleaning the display connector with some isopropyl alcohol and firmly reattaching. Screen is still black.
Is this a problem with a malfunctioning LCD or could it be something like the GPU? I don't want to pay $150-$250 for a replacement screen assembly only to find that it's some other problem
Thanks in advance!
I would suggest to get a new device.

I prefer to repair rather than replace unless I have absolutely no other choice, thanks.
