Did anyone else noticed that the image quality on oreo is worse than on nougat?
Also the viewfinder image in snapchat and instagram are zoomed in by default.
Feedback is appreciated.

Since I'm on Oreo, , the image is stretched on all video mode with EIS.
1080p 60fps, everything is good.
Can't tell what is the cause right now, I tried to clear data, but it wont work.
(stock oreo, stock kernel)

Going to try to explain this... When I'm using the stock Camera app, the picture is normal. But when I switch to Camcorder, it seems to be automatically zoomed in quite a bit. And when I try to zoom out, it says that since I'm recording in HD, zoom functions are not available.
This is kind of annoying because now I have to step back probably 5 feet to fill the same frame of when I was taking photos.
Is this normal for everyone else too? Or do I have some weird glitch on my unrooted and pure stock ROM?
Yep, mine does it too (stock rom). It only does that in FullHD resolution. I guess the only use middle part of the sensor to read the data to achieve greater speeds, and thus it's gonna be a hardware limitation.
Who need HD anyway ? The lens hardly catch with it. I record 720x480 and I'm very pleased with teh quality.
Change the video recording resolution in the settings pane to 1280x720 and that should fix your problem.

Yeah I noticed that.
But that doesn't make sense. In photo mode, same resolution as video mode but in video mode it's zoomed in. Like Dr. Sid said, it seems that it uses a smaller section of the image sensor to capture video. Which again doesn't make sense. Weird.
This is definetly a speed optimization - scaling down the whole resolution of camera sensor from 3264*2448 -> 1080p is much more expensive operation than just cropping the central pixels, i assume someone at samsung was VERY lazy to have done the camcorder mode in such a lame way, it's still ok for recording outside scenes but useless for in-room recording.
I find this quite annoying also. At first I was wondering if it is a ROM glitch or something, since some of the people here stated that even in stock ROM it is present also.
I hope there is some kind of patch to this, full HD recording is really awesome and I hate to see the 'zoomed' effect.
Yeah noticed the same thing just last night.. Seems to also affect the camera's ability to focus properly in video capture mode as well... Shame on them, I wish I had noticed this sooner.
Hi
I have issued low res videos pixelated after Oreo update. Especially on Facebook instagram and UC browser. Built-in apps works perfectly (YouTube, chrome etc.) which use built-in video player. Video playback quality is not good as nougat. After I have realized the issue I have tested it with Lineage (Oreo 8.1) and other kernels but all same. I have no idea what caused this issue if adreno drivers or something else. Because of this annoying issue I have turned back to Nougat.
Thanks.
Installed gcam. But when trying to take slow-motion video the image become darker and the video is unstable (bad fps than normal video). Need to know if it is my problem or a general issue. Is there any fix? Also cannot change fps from 120.

Our device doesn't supports slo mo videos. So even if the camera has the option to shoot it, it won't give the satisfactory result.
Using the stock camera app I found what appears to be a problem when recording video and using the 3x zoom. The phone is on 10.5.10 the latest software as of this date. I'm curious as to whether anyone else is having this same issue. I've attached a screenshot of the same frame from the video file from the camera and from my viewpoint. As you can see the dog toy is centered on the grid but in the recording it's not centered.
hello xda,
Im on oneplus 6t running AOSiP android version 10. I was wondering if there is a way to run Oxygen Cam on custom roms like the one im using, I prefer oxygen cam because of the video 60fps support and its UI.
I have downloaded a few oxygen cam apk from apkmiror but it always crashes whenever I open the app.
Please let me know what my options are.
Yes, I prefer it too. You have to download a specific version from apkmirror that works with 6T.
I'm using V3.4.25 with Lineage 18.1

thnx, I have download same version as yours and the oxgygen cam app wont crash when i open it. But even if you select 60fps video recording it actually does not record at 60fps, and pro mode does not work, it crashes when you select pro mode.
This means, simply installing the oxygen cam does not unlock the full oneplus camera potential on custom roms unless you are on oxygen rom.
Unless you can prove me that you are really able to record 60 fps and also use pro mode, I think simply installing oxygen cam apk does nothing.
Damn. I don't record that much videos so I had not even noticed that!
Pro mode crashes the app on V3.4.X and V3.3.X but seems to work on V3.2.106. Slow-mo and everything work fine, but the 60fps video modes do not. Clearly it does 'something' because the video bitrate is 2-3 times higher on 60fps mode.. but still 30fps. I have no idea how to enable 60fps, sorry.
